I would give 4 stars for the staff service, the optometrist and the assistants were very friendly (if overly busy on the surgery days). However, Dr. Shammas suffered from an overabundance of what, if I'm being generous, I'll call confidence. I'd otherwise call it cold aloofness. I didn't feel like I even needed to be there. I can appreciate the assurance of a calm confident doctor, but I dont feel like he realized that, while he might have done this hundreds of thousands of times, this was my first. Also, after they had cut my corneas, they put me in some dark, cold room to sit with nothing but my thoughts for what I was told was 15 minutes. I didnt even have the bad pop music in the operation room, I could focus on how much I didnt like it, or at least keep track of time. With my eyes shut I have no idea how long I sat there freezing, with my eyes stinging as the anesthetic wore off, reinforcing the terrifying thought that I'd never see again because of vanity or something. I've talked to other people when did the procedure other places, they didnt even change tables, they went straight from the cutting laser to the burning laser without moving. Otherwise the surgery seems to have been a success, so I'd give two stars overall. read more

I had the consultation and that was great. They really helped me understand the procedures. The videos they showed were quite long, but it's good for those that want a thorough understanding. I trusted this company because two of my coworkers went through the procedure before. One 6 years ago and the other a month before me. The day of the procedure was only 3-4 hours. Mainly the prepping part. I didn't experience pain during the surgery. Except for pressure pain. The first procedure you'll be on one chair. I'm not quite sure what they were doing but to describe it was them blacking out my eyes by using this tool that goes around your eyes and puts a significant amount of pressure. Then you get onto another chair (procedure 2) and that's when they will cut open your eye and start the laser procedure. It honestly tickled me. The only downside was that I wasn't given my medication and I was dying from the pain! Luckily I took some ibuprofen and all was well. All in all I can see 20/20. read more

I went for my first consultation back in October 2020, the staff members, doctor and financial advisor were very nice, explained everything in detail and let me know of my options. I was able to have the surgery scheduled went I felt comfortable, I had mono laser, which practically resolved my problem of being far sighted in one eye and short sighted on the other one. The surgery was fast, the surgeon was very patience since I was a little nervous and he even spoke a bit Spanish thinking that might calm me down the financial lady was very nice and helped me decide what would be the best way for me to pay and facilitate a payment plan for me. The staff were easy going and explained the procedure and follow up after. I had my surgery barely a week ago, they have follow up with check ups in the Cerritos and Los Angeles offices. I have to mentioned that I did checked before having my surgery with two other offices, one in orange and the other in Torrance. Since my insurance doesn't covered it I was looking for the beat price as well as service. They gave me the best price for both eyes and service has been excellent! I went to the Laser eye center expecting some kind of eye exam and some information on why I needed laser surgery and how much it will cost. But the doctor and the staff was so professional. The doctor was extremely honest. The place is very clean. The doctor explained to me that I didn't need laser surgery and if I got it sometime during my later years I would need cataract surgery. So he told me I need a cataract surgery and I will never need laser surgery. He went into detail so that I would not be confused and it was very informative and educational. I can pass these words along. He will not take your money if he don't need to. He will not do a surgery on you or anyone that he does not need to do. My mom went there and she is very happy with their professionalism and staff friendliness. The same doctor did the 3 eye surgeries. She had two lasix surgeries six years apart on both eyes. This last surgery was the prk one. The prk surgery takes a little longer to heal. She only had one eye done this time as she has mono vision in each eye. She says that the next surgery will be for cataracts probably in twenty years. Their cataract surgeon will have to do both eyes. The uncomfortableness of the prk healing is because of it taking a little longer to heal and is well worth it. She said she'd do it again if she had to. I'm happy that she went back to Laser Eye Center and is pleased with the surgery. She said she even had the same optometrist see her all three times. My girlfriend is thinking about having lasix done. My mom assured her she's going to the right place. The surgery only takes about 2 minutes per eye. It's well worth it. With the prk proceedure you need someone to drive you home but not with lasix. She said I could use her name and to tell you that Mercedes Gonzalez is highly recommending the surgery and don't hesitate it's pretty safe and you'll enjoy great vision. After 15 years of researching and struggling with the decision to have LASIK surgery, I finally scheduled a consultation at this center. The staff were all great and friendly! The friendliest and warmest person there was the office manager, Katia. My experience with her was not difficult at all and I did not find her to be a money grabber. Of course her job is the financing piece, and her responsibility is to make sure you book with them. However, I did not feel pressure by her at all to commit. After a positive evaluation and great initial visit, I scheduled my surgery on Valentine's Day. On the day of surgery, I encountered the same positivity and support from all staff, but especially Katia. Dr. Shammas was a little bit brusque, but I was not put off by his persona. He answered what questions I did have in a manner that put me at ease and ensured confidence in his abilities. The outcome of the surgery was better than expected and my follow-up appointments have gone great. The staff still treated me warmly, even more so as there is recognition and familiarity when I come in. I now wish I hadn't waited so long, but I guess better late than never. And Dr Shammas personnaly saw us few times and called me the night of my son's procedure to check on him. the price was very reasonable comparing to other centers, their surgery coordinator, went over prices with us on the day of the consultation and was very friendly, she did not pressure us at all. I had surgery here in August of 2014 and lost complete vision in my right eye 4 months later. The Dr wanted to take no responsibility at all and was very rude to me saying that it was a risk that we all took. I asked him to do a touch up and he declined saying that he wasn't comfortable doing a touch up on me. He sure was comfortable taking my $4000. Do not go here, this Dr is terrible. I had lasik surgery. I did a lot of research and I felt good about choosing this Laser Eye Center. So I made an appointment for a consultation to see if I was eligible. I really liked the fact that the consultation is free, makes it more flexible and less committing. Everything about my initial consultation was good until I met the "office manager", Katia. She's not a very friendly person and all she wants is your money. That was my first time being in her office. Afterwards, I thought maybe it was just a bad day for her but that turned out to be a misjudgment. On the day of my surgery, I wasn't nervous at all. I came in early, calm and with no doubts. I had all the eye tests done again and everything turned out good again. I was told to wait for Katia in the waiting area. When she called me in, she didn't even say hi or good morning or anything. She just said "I'll take your payment" and after she counted the money she pushed my receipt at me and told me to follow her and so I did. Turns out was that by "follow me" she meant for me to have a seat in the waiting area. She then gave me the consent forms to sign and walked away. So I began reading all of the forms and began to get nervous and have doubts about the surgery. I had never had a surgery in my life so I had no idea of how it works. And after she had my money, she gives me the forms that say all the bad things that could happen. Obviously I freaked out and had one of the optometrists explain several doubts. I went ahead with the surgery and everything went great. Dr. Shammas was great during the surgery. My eyes were REALLY sensitive to the light for at least 2 weeks. The day of the surgery and the following day, I found it a little hard to open my eyes, but other than that I had no complications. At night, I still see halos around lights. And sometimes my vision is blurred and I have to try focus my eyes. Overall, my experience here was pretty good except when dealing with their "office manager". She obviously needs to brush up on her people skills or just common good manners. read more

It says 24-48 for the recovery implying its for the all laser conventional (it even says that in the groupon description). It's actually for the procedure where they use a blade to remove the top layer of your eye ..." The conversation with Katia (office manager?) felt like a negotiating to buy a used car. Be prepared to bargain and ask for price reduction. I think we were able to get about 20% discount from her initial asking price. Also it would've been nice if they told me upfront that after surgery I need to buy prescription eye drops ($130+ for two). Okay so after reading the reviews on Yelp, i was a little nervous about my appointment, but l can honestly say that my experience was nothing to be nervous about. I don't know what the previous reviewers were talking about....but my entire experience here (so far) has been great. There was NO line ahead of me, I completed all my paperwork in under 5 minutes, and as the assistant ran me through the first set of machines she easily calmed my nerves. Then while I waited for the doctor she was nice enough to hand me a personal DVD player with an informational movie that clearly explained the causes of the different vision problems, and how the various types of laser surgery were use to correct each problem. By the time the doctor came in (as the video ended) I had almost no questions to ask! The optometrist who did my consult was great, albeit a little more talkative than I'm used to (in a doctor at least). And Katia, the office manager, was quite impressive. She's hands on all around the office. Despite actually meeting her in the front upon arrival.... we did the financial discussion in a separate back office. She's no-nonsense, which I like. And she has a pretty decent sense of humor. I was surprised when she even let me know that they had financing available. All in all, although I think the price is fairly reasonable...I'm afraid it still may be out of my range right now(which is why i gave four instead of five stars). The less expensive of the options was probably doable....but I'd prefer the Wavefront, so I'm hoping I can scrape the money together somehow. Decided to have a lasik procedure last 12/3/2015. Price is very competitive. All doctors who make observation of my eye if I am a good candidate and Dr. Abraham as well are very professional. Easy to deal with. Though I have second thought ~ I am convince as they explain the benefit of it. The only thing I have comment is the front desk Latina staff who is sitting in the front desk ~ who prawn her face when I told her to reschedule my follow-up appointment. Overall experience is not bad at all since my surgery looks to be fine at this point. I couldn't be happier with the results of my surgery. It's been one week and I'm seeing better than 20/20 and the dryness and irritation has gone away. My eye sight was really poor so I couldn't see a thing without my glasses. Little things are different now, like being able to read in the shower which one is the shampoo and which one is the conditioner.
