I've been getting brazilians done from Hawaii all the way to France, and it's easy for me to identify a beauty practitioner who has a talent for the service they specialize in. Athena has a very gentle way of performing her waxing which can be rare to find. Some practitioners just don't have that special touch and it can be very painful. With Athena that is not the case. She really takes time and care during the process, and makes you feel very comfortable. Uses gloves, super sanitary, does not double dip sticks, uses single sticks for each applications. You totally have a peace of mind that you are in safe sanitary wise. AND the bed is super comfy!! The salon she performs her services out of, is a private by-appointment-only salon space, so there won't be any random people walking in requesting appointments. When i called back to talk to her, Kalei told me to that my real lashes couldn't handle more volume and that I should wear this for a few days and if i want it longer, to go back and have her redo it. Told her that Ansley would put "ready to wear" on me however, hers came out voluminous but natural. Think it was Kalei's coward way of saying she doesn't want to redo her poor job. I tried calling back twice because I wanted it fixed and no one called back nor picked up the phone. I paid so much money for short lashes? Never coming back! Horrible customer service. I was a long time customer but no more!!!!! Sooooo disappointed because I spent a fortune on this full set!!! Also, if my lashes were not in the condition that it should have been to make it more full, then be honest and don't put a new set. Perhaps this company just wants to make the money. Much better customer service elsewhere.

Reservations should be made before going in as an appointment is necessary. You can either make reservations online or call. My lash specialist is Kari Mukawa and I highly recommend her. Not sure if she's taking any new clients, but you may get lucky. ;) I started off with the Ready to Wear lash set because it's the most natural looking lashes and it's exactly what I was looking for. It's $150 for the initial lash and $75 for the relash. I really love the way the studio looks. It's so bright, clean, and modern. If you go with your significant other, he/she can either wait right outside in the Velocity's awesome chairs or go check out some luxury cars that are on display. They also offer free wifi.

Gyoungsil works out of a small, functional room inside LEEKAJA Hair Bis, the hair salon in the Madang plaza on Wilshire and Western. I've gone to her (and her old partner Lucy, per my previous review) a few times over the years, in two or three different spots, but she seems to have settled here, or has been here, in any case, since before COVID. It's a good spot, and easy to access for customers. The plaza has plentiful garage parking, and I think it's usually free with validation. The entrance is a little confusing, though. I believe it's on Manhattan, and it might only have signs for H Mart. My eyebrows are naturally thin and light, so without significant help, I kind of might as well not have them. Microblading has been a blessing since I first started getting it done in my twenties, and Gyoungsil is my preferred practitioner. I don't know enough about eyebrows to tell her what to do, but every time, she manages to make my brows look just the way I want. She's also great at making the process comfortable and relatively painless, which is not nothing when you're dealing with topical numbing cream and innumerable cuts from a small knife. I probably wouldn't do this if it were a once-a-month thing--it costs $300 before tip (payable through VenMo) and again, it involves a knife on your face--but microblading makes my eyebrows look good for well over a year (and last time, I didn't even bother with the touch-up a month later). I'm grateful that this service exists, and unless my brows stop being sad and wispy, I will remain a loyal Beautyholic customer.

And serendipitously had the color I wanted which is a violet red. My pic includes the before, the cut before styling/color, and the final result the morning after bc by the time we were done, it was night time and I could not get a good picture of the color with regular lights. Danne went over how to care for my hair to help with preventing fade. He provided suggestions for products that would help me achieve this. He welcomes any questions you have.
