Tried La Shish recently and had mixed feelings. The chicken shawarma was unfortunately dry and lacking flavor, with not much sauce. Lettuce didn't add anything and felt unnecessary. The gyro had a similar issue -- the red onions were raw and sliced too thick, there wasn't enough tzatziki sauce, and again, lettuce didn't really belong on the sandwich. The good: the pita bread was excellent -- very soft, fresh, and delicious. The fries were disappointing. They were unseasoned, soft, and mushy, and honestly didn't need to be included. I wish the wraps were offered à la carte without fries, especially since the price felt a bit high for what you get. The baklava was the standout. It was flaky, sticky, and perfectly sweet. The food here is absolutely delicious! My family and I have been 4 times, ordered something different each time, and everything we ate was always so flavorful and fresh. They never seem to get overly busy and you are usually seated immediately. The only downside is that the service always proves to be very slow each time we've gone. Plan to spend at least an hour. Upon reaching home, my daughter had a gyro and I had a kebab combo, and I ordered baba ghanoush. It was amazing. Everything was well seasoned and everything was made to perfect texture. Food is really good, but it took forever to get our food. We came in for lunch on a rainy Friday afternoon. This is a nice Mom & Pop restaurant with about 9 tables. We got a free appetizer ($5.99 value) when I checked in with Yelp. We ordered a chicken kabob and a Gyro plate. We got the appetizer right away (the spicy hummus) and it was very tasty. Then we had to wait, and wait for our meals. It took between 20 and 25 minutes to get our food. I don't know why it took so long but it was frustrating. We ordered and had it delivered for lunch. The portion for most was good. I ordered the chicken kabob meal and it came with a salad and hummus. Great portion. I am not particularly a hummus person but I think this place has changed my mind. Best hummus I've had and my daughter who is a hummus lover, agreed. My son ordered a shwarma and fries. we were excited to go for the first time in this restaurant and we sat in the booth for a while. the server after about 10 min gave us menu and never attended or came back. in fact people who came after us were given menus and immediately served. there were only 2 tables being served. the host was talking to someone and ignored us completely. what a horrible experience. maybe because we weren't Mediterranean decent or white. lived in allen for 25 years and never been ignored or treated this way. what a shame! there is an awesome Mediterranean restaurant down the street which treated us much better. look it up, much better ambience and service. read more

So we love mediterranean food, and I am here to tell you this is the best mediterranean food this side of the Middle East. The falafel is moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside, the baba ganoush was outstanding, and the hummus was creamy. Oh, and the pita was above all others.
