The whole team at Columbia LasikPlus is absolutely phenomenal and I wished I had gotten it done years ago! On a whim I scheduled a consultation- less than 5 minutes into my consultation I knew I had to get it done by Dr. Goel and his team. From the moment I walked in the door they showed how professional, knowledgeable, caring, and excited they were. They truly care about each and every patient and are excited for them and the new 'life' they will get after the procedure. I was able to get an appointment for the next week to have it done. I spent the week reading the google reviews, yelp reviews, and tons of other reviews. All you have to do is scroll through the reviews and see that every single person has the same story - how absolutely awesome Dr. Goel and his team are and how great of an experience it was for them. For me, I do lots of traveling for work, including international travel. That meant packing tons of contacts and contact solution, hoping that the contacts were going to be delivered before the next trip, remembering glasses, dealing with contacts/ glasses on 30+ hours of flights, being in new and different places without being able to see, jet lag eyes that made wearing contacts unbearable, trips getting extended and running out of contacts -- I decided I had had enough and wanted my life back! The Procedure: The procedure itself was a breeze and honestly I wasn't even worried about it. (This is even coming from someone who freaks out over a flu shot.) The whole team at Columbia LasikPlus makes you feel so comfortable and is so excited for you that they lessen any fears you have. The day of the procedure you go through the equivalent of a quick eye doctor appointment where they are just double checking your eye measurements again to make sure everything is the same as what it was during your consultation. After that you are taken into a room where they explain the post-procedure care instructions and you get some eye drops to 'numb' your eyes. At that point you meet Dr. Goel and he answers any final questions you have. You then go into the 'laser room' where you lay on a medical table that swings under the different machines. They do one eye at a time -the first step they put something on your eye lids to hold them open (it feels similar to when you get x-rays on your teeth - it's not painful but you can obviously tell there is something there) they then swing you over under a different machine which I believe is the one that 'prepares the flap', you swing back and they do the other eye, then swing back to the 2nd machine and they do the second eye. After that is complete you stand up and go over to another machine which I believe is the actual laser, once there they will do the laser on each of the eyes - you look up at red and green blinking lights and then the laser goes, it is not painful and it does not hurt at all. (yes, you will smell something a little funky but only for a couple seconds). The procedure is over in about 5 minutes but during the whole thing Dr. Goel is explaining what is going on, what will come next, and checking that you are okay. (They have a TV which shows the procedure in the waiting room so your family/ friends can watch-- My mom was sad that she went to get some tea and missed seeing the whole thing!) After the procedure you go home and take a 3 hour nap. During the nap I felt some discomfort and a bit of burning but once I woke up I was fine. You use eye drops twice a day for a week, wear sunglasses inside and outside for 3 days, sunglasses outside for a week, blink tear drops every hour for a week, and 3-4 times a day after the first week. Yes, the price is hefty but TRUST ME... Go in for a consultation and you will immediately understand what everyone is talking about in their reviews. The day after my LASIK procedure my vision is 20/20! All of the staff at this LASIK plus location is very friendly and professional. A lot of the techs have gotten the procedure done themselves, so they're very knowledgable. Dr. Goel was great, he was very personable and made me feel very comfortable. However, you don't actually meet Dr. Goel until the day of your procedure. As far as pre screening and check ups go- they are very thorough. All of the equipment is well maintained and the office is immaculate. Got PRK about four months ago. The pain was unbearable for two days. My vision is insanely good now. 20/15 in both eyes. Still need eye drops a few times a day but maybe it's just a habit I developed after PRK. No halos. No fuzzy vision. No issues at all. Once in the blue moon I gotta use the eye drops BUT it's mainly because my fan unit is blowing right on me while I'm sleeping. If it wasn't for the fan I wouldn't even need the drops at all. Yes, you read that correctly...I had this surgery in 2012....it's been almost 4 years now, and I still have better than perfect 20/20 vision and NO side effects. I have waited a long time to write this review because I think it's very important that people see a happy ending, but also the ever after. Right after surgery I could see 20/12 like superman. I researched a lot of LASIK doctors and found that Dr Goel was the most positive reviewed dr. So I made my consultation here at the Columbia office. I promise you even the staff made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I went to a few LASIK locations but found this to be the absolute best! I felt like they examined my eyes down to the T to make sure I would proceed with the best procedure for me. So I set my surgery date up and as the time was getting close they prepared me. Dr. Goel informed me of EVERYTHING I would feel, smell and even hear. He told me everything I needed to know about my recovery as well. The procedure was painless and quick. I had PRK done to my eyes. The first 3 days were a bit rocky but nothing the pain meds and eye drops couldn't ease. He and his staff even checked on my later on the day of my procedure as well as the next day. I'm now on day 8 and my contact bandages were removed 2 days ago. My eyes are getting clearer and clearer each day. I was fully aware they wouldn't be stable for a while but I can definitely say each day gets better! I would recommend this team to EVERYONE! I am one year out from my lasik surgery and while I did receive great service prior to my surgery, I have only experienced poor customer service afterwards. It was difficult to get my post op appointments scheduled and now my vision has already degraded to the point where I needed to receive glasses in order to drive. I contacted lasikplus about my concern and followed their instructions on how I should go about getting an enhancement (revision surgery) and despite following their instructions, they have yet to get me booked to just talk to the surgeon let alone receive the actual enhancement. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this center. They seem more concerned with their social media presence than to actually back up their work. read more

Next day at my follow up and I can see the letters on my cell phone! Distance vision is a little hazy still but that is normal. Everyone here is super nice and friendly. Expect a couple calls later the same day after your surgery asking how you are or if you have any questions. I found that follow up pretty nice. They also gave me a military discount for my service! Had my LASIK procedure done back in Sept. 2014 and I have no regrets. The staff was very helpful and professional, most of them had the procedure done and also have no regrets. The initial consultation is probably the best eye exam you will ever have and it's FREE. You don't meet Dr. Goel until the day of the procedure. He's nice and calls you the same night to check on you. I must admit that after my procedure, my eyes were on fire, I took a nap and when I woke up, they were no longer on fire but sensitive so I went back to sleep. I was able to drive myself to the follow up the next day. The healing process varies from patient to patient. I would see halos from time to time but nothing that eye drops or sleep didn't fix. Also if you work on computers, it may take longer for you to reach your best vision. For my last checkup I had 20/15 together and 20/20 individually. This is by far the best investment I've ever made. read more

Day after procedure update. Dr. Goel talked me through each step of the procedure before and during. It's very stressful knowing your eyes are having blades and lasers used on them while you are fully conscious, but knowing what to expect helped keep me calm. Dr Goel was also very reassuring that things were going well during the procedure which also soothed me. A nurse as well as Dr. Goel called to check up on me yesterday. My eyes were scratchy feeling and I had hazy vision (a lot like sea spray on your sun glasses) but both are normal and the effects are much less today. I am healing well, have nearly 20/15 vision on day 2, and I'm told that will improve a bit in the next week. Overall a great experience here. I came to this eye center looking for a more reasonable price than the other name brand eye centers such as TLC. Unfortunately, that was all they had to offer. After researching and visiting three different eye centers, I will not be getting my surgery done here or at TLC and am going to Eye Doctors of Washington instead. I came to Lasik Plus for their free consultation to get started on the road for laser eye surgery. I was at this consultation for 2 1/2 hours. It was RIDICULOUS. They over schedule their free consultation appointments so that people overlap one another and end up waiting for forever. They give you a video to watch that informs you about the procedure, facts, and risks. While I understand the need to have clients watch this video, I would have preferred to have watched it on my own time instead of wasting time sitting at their office. At TLC, when you make an appointment with them, they send you a confirmation email along with a similar video to watch before you come into the office. I prefer this instead so that I can watch it on my own time instead of wasting more time waiting at an office. I guess they did this to somewhat help people while they wait. They run you through all the pre-op tests all in one day when the other eye centers wait until the day before surgery to do this. They test tear duct production, your cornea, eye sight, etc. Then you later speak with the eye doctor about your results and whether or not your a good candidate for surgery. Even though the doctor answered all my questions and gave a run through of the procedure, the doctor spoke REALLY fast. And I realized it was because of all the free consultations that was booked. His explanation was monotonous, rehearsed and repeated many times it sounded like a recording; like he was just repeating it over and over again and I was just another person. Just the fact that he didnt talk the time to REALLY talk to me was very upsetting. He then looked at my chart and graphs and said right off the bat that I was an excellent candidate for lasik and could actually get it done today. No thanks. It seems Lasik Plus is a place that just trys to get your business without any concern for your well being. When I went to TLC and Eye Doctors of Washington, they took the TIME to explain things nicely to you. They are concerned with the smallest fraction of details and will tell you their honest opinion about getting surgery. When I went to these more professional practices, they actually told me that they noticed some irregularities with my eyes and would like to look into it further. Instead of Lasik Plus who was eager to just tell me I was a "perfect candidate", get me in the chair, cut my eye balls open, take my money and then kick me out. All in all, Lasik Plus brings people in like cattle and doesn't take the time patients deserve when they come in. Sure, they're cheaper than TLC and Eye Doctors of Washington, but thats all they have to offer. I don't feel safe at this practice and I am not giving my eyes a "cheap price." It is NOT worth it. Don't try and cheat your eyes on a few extra bucks, these are your EYES, and they need the best service possible. read more

I was examined to see if I was a candidate for Lasik at LasikPlus Vision Center back in February of 2015. After my examination, I was told that not only was I candidate for Lasik, I was also a textbook candidate for mono-vision. That was great news because mono-vision is literally half the price because you're only correcting one eye, in my case, the dominant right eye. Mono-vision is a procedure where the dominant eye is corrected for distance and the other eye is left alone. The corrected eye is then able to see far away and the brain is supposed to "ignore" the blurry vision of the uncorrected eye. When reading, the uncorrected eye reads and the eye that was corrected for vision is "ignored" by the brain (that is, if the corrected eye can't see clearly up-close). If you are a candidate for mono-vision, the real benefit from this option is that you might be able to significantly delay wearing reading glasses because one of your eyes is already "set" to read as it always has. Initially, my mono-vision surgery seemed to be a roaring success. I could see as I hadn't since before the 5th grade. I didn't wear glasses normally because I was -1.5 in the left eye and -1.0 in my right. So I can easily tell the difference between a car and say a water buffalo. I'd be able to drive, but reading a road sign at night, or watching a movie on a large screen tv, or seeing my alarm clock from across the room where it is strategically placed were always problematic. After the surgery, waking up and looking at an alarm clock without squinting was utter joy. However, within about a week, I realized that night driving was very difficult for me. I returned to Dr. Goel's office for a follow-up visit within a week's time and thought they would immediately suggest correcting the other eye when I told them of the night driving problem. I was wrong. According to the doctor, although many patients adjust to mono-vision within a couple of weeks some did take longer. The doctor lobbied to leave the uncorrected eye alone because he said people could take six months to a year before their brains finally adjusted to the difference in vision between the two eyes. He asked me to wait for my next follow up appointment to decide. At my next follow up appointment, I told the doctor that night-driving was still very difficult and thought for sure he would schedule my next surgery. However, instead of rolling over, the doctor again recommended that I wait. He said that he'd seen patients whose mono-vision finally clicked after one year. I was told about a website where I could get cheap glasses to correct my left eye when I was driving at night. The doctor suggested that I use those glasses while night driving until my 6 month follow up and if I still was having problems they would correct my left eye. After 6 months, I was still not seeing any progress. I didn't insist on the surgery, but I think I waited a sufficient amount of time to realize that my brain is much more stubborn than the average person. I went back, the doctors agreed that enough time had passed that I could honestly say I tried mono-vision, it didn't work, and I could elect to have the second surgery with little doubt. I'm elated to say, I now have 20/15 vision. I can drive at night and, for now, I can even read close-up with zero difficulty. I'm the guy that people ask, "What is that over there, or what does that sign say?" I know I will probably need reading glasses at some point (I'm not a spring chicken), however, I do appreciate that Dr. Goel and his entire staff looked out for my well-being over easy profit - even when I was pushing for it. This is a medical practice that cares about doing the right thing. They get a 5-star for service, care, and professionalism. I would give them another star, if I could, for doing their best to do the right thing for an impatient patient. read more

I can't put into words how extremely satisfied I was with the entire process and procedure at LASIKPLUS, Columbia, MD. Dr. Goel and his staff were amazing. My appointment was at 12:40 but I got there early and I was out by 1:30. You do not have to arrive early. That was the longest part of my wait but that was on me, not the Center.
