Bentleys in the parking lot, flashy website, high-tech laser apparatus, and they're drooling over your tax return. They can charge whatever they want, and they do. I was lured in with the 'Starting at $250 per eye'. After doing some research, I was prepared to spend $1,000 per eye. The horrific shock came when I found out that even though I had healthy eyes and was 'a great candidate for the procedure', they boldly recommended to me that I get the flagship $4,500 premium package! I explained that my budget was $2,000, and they didn't even flinch. No counter-offer or lesser procedure was made available to me or discussed. I left, and told them to keep the absurd quote that they had proudly prepared for me. Regarding the services that I did receive: I got a free eye exam, it seemed thorough. I brought my wife and daughter, they were accomodated. Although the office was busy, my appointment was kept, and I was efficiently moved through the process. This was the best thing I've done for me in some time! I was a little apprehensive after procedure, I knew numbing would wear off and there would be discomfort but I wasn't actually prepared for it. Dr. Curttright did my vision screening she is a blast! Made the whole process easy and fun. The procedure itself wasn't bad at all. After I woke up from my nap which you need to get zonked out asap so you sleep through the worst of it. However after I woke up I could see clearly and no more discomfort. I just had my next day visit and I have 20/15 vision and could be 20/10 by the time it fully heals. I can't say enough good things about LasikPlus! I had Lasik done for her first time nine days ago now, so I figured this was a good time to write this review. I was very nervous about this procedure as I have had a long history if dry eyes and, despite my longing for being able to see, didn't want to do anything to make my condition worse.. During my initial consultation, they stated that my condition was not as bad as I thought and that I would be a great Lasik candidate, but I still went and saw two other eye Dr s to be sure. It turns out they were right, and I was just fine (apparently my trust is hard to earn). The procedure itself wasnt too bad. It's more unusual than anything else. It's quick and relatively painless. I feel as though they did as good of a job as you possibly could do. Post op kind of sucks for a few days. Certainly recommend following the eye drop schedule very closely +or even more liberally) and being sure to have a couple of days off after the procedure. I could go into more detail, but plenty of resources online that will do a better job. Bottom line is that nine days after surgery I am basically completely heales and can see AMAZINGLY. My dry eyes haven't bothered me at all, and all I am having to do is eye drops 2-3 times a day and take a fish oil pill at this point (which will likely lessen over time). They do quality work but make sure you don't pay more than $1200-$1400 per eyes, they will initially give you a $4500 to $5500 estimate (2 eyes) but will drop it to as low as $1000 per eye if you walk away. They will also tell you every eye is different but don't fall for it , the operation takes 90 seconds regardless . I am totally happy with my operation but don't like their practices if trying to get as much as possible. I paid $1000 less than the original asking price. PS. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Before I came here I had worn glasses for 15 + years and have never worn contacts. Why? Because I was terrified of touching my eyes. Which doesn't make sense why I would go to a LASIK place but I wanted to be glasses free and this place offered a free pre-screening appointment to see if you qualify so I figured I might as well try. My last optometrist visit ended in tears when he repeatedly tried to jab me in the eye and yelled at me for getting upset and resisting. So, it was amazing to come here and have the LASIK technician assistant be very gentle, patient and explained everything that she was doing so I fully understood everything during my screening. She inevitably had to touch my eye for a glaucoma test and I got through it because I felt very at ease with her. She made me feel like I was not irrational for not liking other people touching my eye. The ophthalmologist answered all the questions I had about the surgery and let me know I could call with any questions I had. I made an appointment for the next week not knowing if I could still get through it. The day of they had me put in two types of eyedrops and offered me half a vicodin to calm me down. The laser suite has glass walls so you can see everything going on from outside the room. They allowed me to bring my husband in to hold my hand. After putting in plenty of eye numbing drops to make sure I didn't feel any pain they put me under the first machine, which makes the incision in the flap above the cornea. This involved the doctor slipping a plastic ring over my eye (which he was able to do with ease) and the machine uses a light suction, which the laser then makes the incision. I didn't feel any pain just some pressure. They took me over to a second machine that does the vision correction. Everything was so foggy that all you can see are red and green dots while another laser corrects the vision. After that was done, the doctor gently placed the flap over the cornea and cleaned it. It only took about 10-15 minutes and after going home and having a four hour nap my vision was clear. I now have 20/15 vision and all of my follow up appointments have gone smoothly. The only side effects I had was some dry eye two weeks after the procedure. From the receptionist to the doctor, all of the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and comforting. They were all happy to answer whatever question I had and really went out of their way to make me comfortable. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I started wearing glasses in 2nd grade, and my eyesight has gone down ever since. At 16, I was finally able to trade my Coke-bottle glasses for contact lenses. In the last couple of years, my vision has finally stabilized, so my optometrist gave me the green light to consider laser eye surgery. She warned me in advance, however, that I may not be able to get the LASIK (flap) surgery due to the football-shaped orbs in my head, but PRK (the older laser eye surgery) might be an option. I scheduled an appointment with LasikPlus in Bridgeport to get the free consultation, where they let me know if I qualified. I ended up being called in to teach the day of my appointment, and they were very accomodating about rescheduling. Then, I was stuck behind a major traffic accident on 217 while on my way to the appointment; they were able to hold my slot for the extra 20 minutes it took to get there. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the technician who did my initial exam and measurements was awesome. She talked me through the entire procedure, explained that she also didn't think I'd qualify for the LASIK and gave me a nifty little packet that described an alternative that would actually work better for me. It's called ICL, and is basically a lens that is permanently installed in the eye. Bad news is that it costs almost double that of regular LASIK, but there are many advantages (no corneal scraping/removal, the implant can be removed if needed). I was a bit hesitant about the exam, as they would be dilating my eyes, but honestly, the worst part was the dilation - she put in numbing drops, then a drop of dilator, then another, and then she tapped the surface of my eye with a pen-like object. It didn't hurt, just felt a little odd - kind of like having someone else put your contacts in. The most painful part of the whole thing was the 3 seconds after the numbing drops (they tend to burn a little bit) and then the brightness following full dilation. I watched a little video on the ICL process that showed how it's done - not a nasty graphic YouTube of the procedure, but an illustrated rendering. When I finally met with Dr. Remkeit, she explained that ICL would probably be best for me due to the eye shape, corneal damage, etc. She did some more measuring, and we talked for some time about the process. She explained that it was more costly (around $6,400 total) and that it would be done in a hospital environment, outpatient procedure. She was very patient with all of my questions, and I liked her "chair-side" manner. Despite what I'd been led to believe, there was really no "pushing" of services. They advised me that a special of $500 off per eye was going until the end of June, but that was for LASIK only, so it wasn't mentioned again. Before I left, Dr Remkeit showed me a replica and an actual ICL lens, and they gave me information on financing. All in all, I was very happy with the experience. I brought the information home to talk it over with my husband ($6,400 is no small change!), and he was impressed with the amount of information, too. If/when I do decide to have the procedure, I'll definitely use LasikPlus. One thing I would mention - I was assured that I'd be fine to drive home after the dilation, and that I'd only see "halos" or "light bursts" when looking at signs. I've had my eyes dilated every two years and have never driven myself home, so I didn't know what to expect. Even with my very dark sunglasses on a cloudy day, the signs were hard to read (blurry and too bright); I stopped for groceries and had to wear a pair of light sunglasses in the store. I was told the blurriness would last for a couple of hours, but it wasn't until about 9 hours later, just before bed, that my vision was finally returning to normal. I may be a unique case due to my poor eyesight, but I would definitely not drive home again with dilated eyes. (NOTE: I kept one star off because I haven't had the procedure - I don't think I can fully review until then.) read more

Really nothing to complain about. I had same day surgery and was in and out in a couple hours. By the next morning my vision was crystal clear in one eye and vastly improved in the other (which used to have a very strong prescription). The optometrist was friendly and the ophthalmologist who did the actual procedure was nice and clearly knew what he was doing. Communication could use a bit of work though. I called to see if I could reschedule and it took an inordinate amount of time for them to call me back, so long that I had dropped the idea of rescheduling it until they called me up seemingly out of the blue. read more

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I had 6 friends that all went to this Bridgeport location and all had nothing but great things to say about it. I decided I would make an appointment to stop in and see what it was all about. I contacted them at 1:30 and they fit me in at 3pm. It was a great experience from start to finish. Watching the little video after my eye exam really put my mind at ease. It was great to see how they are going to do it and all the ins and outs of the surgery. Day of the surgery I was a little nervous but very excited. The whole staff really makes the experience very calming. They allowed my wife to join me and even watch the surgery. The surgery takes about 20 minutes. By the time you calm down your breathing, it's 1/2 way done. Then, before you know it, you're done and they have you sit up. The Dr. says open your eyes. Then he asks, can you read he clock from across the room and I could. It was instantaneous. Obviously, I was still blurry and a little fuzzy but it started to go away in the first 5 minutes. They give you everything you need to go home and feel comfortable. Honestly, the first 2 hours after the numbing drops wore off where miserable. You're crying constantly, your eyes are so heavy from the drugs and your nose is all stuffed up. It was pretty hard to go to sleep but it gets better. I never take day naps and hardly get 7 hours of sleep in my normal life but you're so exhausted that I slept for 6 1/2 hours. Make sure you schedule this in your recovery. Make sure someone can help you out so you really get some good sleep. It's important. In conclusion, if you're thinking about this, DONT. Don't even hesitate. Just schedule your consult. You'll feel much better about it once you do. In the first 24 hours I now see 20/15. read more

I've had quite a few people ask me what Lasik was like, it's been a few days so I thought I'd post what my experience was like in as much detail as I can. When you arrive the day of the procedure they give you all the instructions on after care, you get antibiotic drops that you take 3 times a day until the bottle is gone plus eye drops that you are supposed to use every 30-60 minutes. They also give you sunglasses and a plastic eye mask for nighttime sleeping. At LasikPlus they give you 2 tylenol PM as well. For reasons I will explain later go to your doctor and get a pain pill or two and take that as soon as your surgery is done. When you go in for the procedure you lay down at the first laser where they "create the flap". This is where they cut the cornea with a laser so that they can do the actual changes to your eye. They put several numbing drops in your eyes and if you have an astigmatism they mark your eyeball with a sharpie type pen. They cover your left eye and then place a suction device on your right eye. They say this is where you will feel some pressure, I didn't feel much at all. Your vision then goes dark in your right eye. This is when the laser cuts the flap. It takes about 20 seconds to finish. Then they do the same thing to your other eye. For about 10 seconds both eyes are totally black even though they are open. Once the second eye flap is created then sit you up and you have to walk to the second laser. When you look through your eyes at this point it looks like you're under murky water and everything is very cloudy. At the second laser they have you lay down again and they put a device in your eye to hold it open. They tell you to focus on the green dot and they peel back the flap they just created with tiny tools. You'd think this would look scary but really you can barely see the tools. Once the flap is back you pretty much can't focus on anything. This is when the laser does its job. My right eye the laser was about 5 seconds. After the laser they put the flap back in place and put several more drops in your eye. They repeat on the left eye, which for me was about 10-12 seconds of laser. Once you're done you sit up and they give you sunglasses. This is when they tell you to keep your eyes closed and go home and try to sleep for the next 2-4 hours. You are not allowed to touch your eyes and you are told not to squeeze your eyes closed either. By the time you get home the numbing drops in your eyes have worn off. This is when the real fun begins. Basically your eyes start to burn like nothing you've ever felt. I couldn't sleep with that level of pain in my eyes!! Hence suggesting getting something strong from your doctor to put the pain at bay and let you sleep. Basically I sat there like a blind woman with tears streaming from my eyes for the next 4 hours. And OOOOOH was I light sensitive. I was sitting in the house with all the lights off, all the blinds closed, dark sunglasses on and still it was like the brightness of the sun inside the house. It was so dark my husband couldn't see and wondered how the hell I could!! After about 6 hours the pain was getting bearable and the light sensitivity was better. Even today my eyes are a little sensitive to light. So, how is my vision? It's interesting. It is clear and I can see most of the time, but as with any healing process it comes and goes. There are times when I can't see clearly and there are times when I can see perfectly. Close up was harder the first few days which they say is normal. Night time is the worst with starbursts and shadow vision which they also say is very normal. It's getting better day by day, though. Would I do it again? Yes. It's been really nice not having to wear glasses or contacts, that's for sure. read more

I want to add a review to this string of amazing reviews because reading these is why I chose to go to LasikPlus myself. Getting Lasik was something I've though about doing for years, but never seriously. Last week during a late night, I had this wild thought to look into it, and LasikPlus made it way too convenient to schedule a consultation from my phone, including filling out the paperwork ahead of time. I'll tell ya, being able to do things immediately helped me not change my mind, which I'm almost sure would have happened if their system hadn't been so convenient. My consultation was last Thursday, and when I arrived, s--- got real. This wasn't window shopping from the comfort of my bed. This was me going in and taking the first step to what could change my life forever. The staff was awesome which I wasn't surprised by since they had such amazing reviews on that front already. I will say it's no joke though. They really are ALL (every single one of them) fantastic. They were able to set an appointment as early as the next day, but due to my own schedule, I had to push it a week out. Let me say this - if you're nervous, don't wait. Take that first available appointment because if you don't, you could be like me, ruminating for an entire week on all the scary, scary things. Fast forward to yesterday. I was a hot mess. I was so scared. I don't do well with procedures. Never have. I'm that person that has to lay down getting a shot or a blood draw. Don't worry, no needles at this place. Anyway, when it came down to starting, I felt myself going into full panic mode and started crying. I laugh about it now but man, nerves can get ya. I won't go too far into it because the other reviews do, but I'll highlight that they will tell you step-by-step exactly what to expect as it's happening, and there won't be any surprises. Dr. Cornell was wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend going to him. Including my little tear-fest in the very beginning, I was in that room a total of 15 minutes. The procedure itself couldn't have been more than a couple minutes. The actual laser part - maybe 10 seconds. Easy as pie? Cake? Piece of cake? Insert "easy phrases." The build up is what made me so scared, but once you've started, ease sets in and it's no problem. Sitting up, I could see. Yes, it was milky and foggy, but they just did a bunch of stuff to my eyes so duh. I took Tylenol PM and Melatonin and was able to sleep through the hours that they say are tough. It took a minute to fall asleep because the numbing eye drops they used were wearing off as I got home, but if you can sleep through it, you're golden. When I woke up, I could see clearly. It was incredible. This morning I went in for my follow up. I'm officially 20/20, and the discomfort I feel only one day after is that of the feeling of when you have an eyelash in your eye. I had the lasik consultation scheduled for 9am and the surgery procedure scheduled for 3:45pm with LasikPlus. If the consultation in the morning proved better than the 1st place I went, I was ready to get this done ASAP! I was expecting it to be better considering they say the cost ranges from $1,099-$2,200ish and my employer has a discount; AND LasikPlus had a promotion for $1,999 per eye. Figured a likely win win for a low-mid 4k cost. The consultation itself was alright. The clinic was clean and did a great job scanning for the current pandemic symptoms. However once I went into the last room for the cost and scheduling things went down hill fast. 1. They didn't seem to have any sliding fee based on my unique eyes. They quoted me the same promotion cost ($1,999/ eye) as advertised and I can't use my discount on a promotion. Not all bad. But, then with taxes the total came to $5,200!! Much higher than quoted in another location. Still I wanted Lasik done ASAP so I continued with confirming the 3:45pm time I set up a week earlier for the surgery. 2. The surgery scheduler said they only had 2 openings that day. For three hours earlier than the appt. I ALREADY had scheduled at 3:45. I had already re-arranged my work hours, found a driver, and childcare for 3:45p. Why can't that time work?? .....the surgeon apparently had a flight to catch. Why!? Because she flies in weekly for surgery days from her home in Colorado. The scheduler made it seem like that was SO COOL and I consider that terrible considering the pandemic (let alone it meant her flight/the clinic surgery schedulers somehow were not synced and now my surgery was not possible at the time they had called and emailed me to confirm multiple times since last week. I said nevermind. I'm not going with LasikPlus. Then the scheduler said "We may be able to squeeze you in at 2:30pm" SQUEEZE ME IN!? Meanwhile, it's already $1,200 more than another place and your surgeon is flying back and forth states during a pandemic. This left me feeling like a squeezed in appointment would be threatened by her desire to not miss her return flight, causing a rushed procedure with possible errors. I came in for my first consultation with a 7am appointment with Dr. Kurt. On my way to the appointment there was a car accident on 217 South that caused a 10-20 minute delay. I called the LasikPlus Office twice to let them know and they were more than accommodating! They assured that my appointment was still valid and that they looked forward to seeing me. Finally when I arrived, about 7:18am or so, the receptionist was very welcoming and my anxiety lifted. I confirmed the paperwork that I was able to fill out online prior to my exam and waited in the waiting area. Another receptionist let me know that I could get a free t-shirt and they would donate $3 for every review on Google, Facebook, and Yelp if I filled out a review so here I am! Follow-up: Saturday, August 26, 2017 was the day of my Lasik eye surgery. I was nervous, excited and happy all at the same time. They were welcoming when I came in. It did take a little while to actually get to the procedure, seemed like they were extra backed up this Saturday. My appointment was at 3:15pm and they said it should be an hour or so. My surgery procedure started at about 5:25pm. Luckily I had that entire day dedicated to the surgery and recovery. All the employees were super nice, I had some vanilla French toast coffee, water and even French onion sun chips with a couple altoids afterwards. They had a great massage chair named Ricardo I believe? Haha it was nice, though a little tight on my calves. All in all it was a smooth experience and my roommate was even kind enough to video my entire procedure. That evening my eyes were quite sore and watered quite a bit. Luckily I was able to sleep the moment I got home for a good 10+ hours. Waking up was great, no pain, and my sight was super clear! Wow . My follow up is tomorrow read more

I can see! Great experience from start to finish. The staff was friendly and helpful. They took the time to explain the procedure to me and helped me feel at ease. Was a bit nervous since I had read stories about side effects, but two weeks in and my eyes are healing great. I'm 43 and have worn contacts and glasses since the 7th grade. My vision was about -5.75 in both eyes with astigmatism. Being over 40 I will need reading glasses at some point even after the procedure, but this would have happened normally anyway. They were up front about this, and I expected it based upon the research that I have done. Nighttime halos made it difficult to drive at night for about a week and is still not 100%, but is improving. I expected this as well and have read that this is completely normal. As far as paying for the procedure - I was able to get approved through Care Credit with $0 down and reasonable monthly payments. They also do their own in-house financing for those that don't qualify. However,this option does require $1000 down. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes total. They have two machines. The first one is used to cut the flap with a laser. Suction cup type things are placed on your eye before the flap is cut. This was the only uncomfortable part. Your eye is numbed but you can still feel pressure. This is what causes the soreness that you will feel for a day or two. The next machine is what actually corrects your vision. The doctor lifts the flap that was cut with the first machine, and then the laser does it's work. Each eye took about 30 seconds. When the procedure was done I could already see better. I was a little disoriented buy the sudden vision change but felt fine. I had a ride home in which I was told to keep my eyes closed for the ride, and once home to take 2 Tylenol PMs that were given to me. I slept for about 3 hours and woke up a little sore, but I was able to watch tv without glasses for the first time in 30 years. Two weeks later and my vision is great. Just make sure to follow post-op instructions exactly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Best decision I ever made. read more

The whole staff was compassionate and knowledgeable and they got me in right away. They open on sat for patients that have the procedure Friday so it's convienent. My review of Lasikplus is very, very disappointing. If I could give zero stars I would. I paid extra for the guaranteed touch-ups and when I first thought I might like a touch-up, the reception talked me out of it, stating that I should wait until I am older because you can only have a touch-up done a few times. So I waited but wondered why I was waiting since I was 60 years plus. So the next year I followed procedures, which is not even through them, it's an exam through a totally different eye doctor. You print out their form and then take it to an eye doctor. They fill it out and then it takes over 3 months for them to get back to you on what they decide. Since I am a snowbird I ran out of time waiting for them. Then the next year, I pushed, I could no longer read and I needed a touch-up. It took me over a month after I had my doctor's exam, with calls every week to push since I only had 4 months to get in for this. Finally, they sent me an email that I was denied treatment. What?? Well, it is possible they said, that I could or could not develop cataracts. I did not have them now but it was a future possibility, or not. I was very upset and believed that their "guarantee" is a scam. I called them out on it and they said I could pay for them to give me an exam to confirm their point but I WOULD have to pay for the exam and it guaranteed nothing. Since then, I have gone to a different place I had a free 2-hour extensive exam. My eyes are healthy and I have had my touch-up through Will Vision, who I highly recommend. Getting LASIK at LasikPlus was one of the best decisions I've made. Dr. Cornell and Dr. Curttright were both great and made it super easy to go through the whole process, start to finish. I first got glasses when I was 8 years old and my vision had gotten steadily worse since that time. After switching from glasses to using contacts, I always struggled with issues of discomfort and dryness, and it always felt like I could never quite get the right vision between the combination of my fairly severe astigmatism and prescription. I decided to pursue LASIK a year after my girlfriend underwent the surgery and after I was able to witness the dramatic and amazing effect it had on her vision and life. The staff here at LasikPlus were extremely helpful and reassuring throughout the entire process (consultation to procedure). I was fairly concerned that I might not be a good candidate because of the persistent issues with dry eyes that I had always had and also because of my severe prescription but they were able to measure my eyes and determine that neither would likely be a problem for me. The procedure itself was not too bad, and it only lasts about two minutes total. They did a great job explaining exactly what to expect, step by step. They warned me that there would be a lot of pressure on my eyes, and that was definitely true. However, Dr. Cornell really did a great job helping to keep me calm and reassured during the most intense part. After the procedure was over, my eyes were stinging fairly badly, and they recommend going home to take a nap to relieve that irritation. After waking up from my nap, I was able to look across the room and clearly read the title of a book on a bookshelf -- just a few hours after the procedure was done! Although it has still only been a few days, I'm extremely happy with my decision to get LASIK. My vision is better than it has ever been in my life and I'm excited to live my life glasses and contacts free! read more

I do not give 5 star reviews a lot, but when it's deserved, I can acknowledge that. I was so incredibly nervous about surgery especially something that could affect my eyes, but because of how well they prepared me, I realized all of my earlier qualms were misguided. When I asked the doctor what their success rate was, he informed me that nobody has a detrimental experience where they can go blind. After the loads of information about surgery was presented and discussed, I definitely believe that. The only issues patients ever have are those who go into the procedure with unrealistic expectations due to pre-existing conditions or age. None of which applied to me so I had no issues with the procedure. Not only is the staff incredibly positive and encouraging throughout the whole experience, which makes everything much easier, they are all very knowledgeable about the entire surgery process. It's clear these people like their job. It's also no joke when they say you'll drive yourself to your follow up appointment and that some people even work the following day, that's how quickly your eyes improve! Definitely make this one of your consultation places if considering the procedure for yourself. read more
