She is fun, shares happiness, yet is quite thorough, weighing eye health and lens options with patient's own feelings on choices. I've bought glasses through this clinic, too, and found them to be of excellent quality. Most importantly, I've never felt pushed to some decision just to bring money to the clinic. Superb! Friendly and easy to work with (they're actually hilarious but they take their jobs seriously and do them well). I had a full exam and got fitted with new glasses; everything was straightforward and easy. I especially appreciated how Dr. Himmelsbach fine-tuned my prescription and was very transparent about what changes were necessary and which ones were elective. They worked seamlessly with my insurance (which is good because my eyes are unbelievably bad). I started going here for convenience because I live in the area, but if I move away I think I'll keep coming back. read more

It was my first trip to Multnomah Village. Yes, I've lived in Portland since 1991 and i'd never been! So when the wife and I were perusing down the sidewalk I got a wacky idea to inquire of the Multnomah Vision Clinic if they might repair my broken glasses. Some 4 months ago one of the nose pads broke completely off and I'd been wearing them ever since in that condition. The friendly receptionist took my glasses and told me it would be 10 minutes if indeed they had the parts to make the repair. I was expecting to pay of course, that's the way it goes. We sat in the waiting room, making friendly conversation with the kind woman and had a great visit. Then when she returned my glasses with the new nose pads and very clean lenses I took out my wallet and she responded "It's free. It's how we do things around here." I haven't made my appointment yet. But I assure you when it's time I will definitely call Multnomah Vision Clinic my new optometrist. They made me a new customer with their kindness and generosity. read more

In an age where doctor appointments feel like they are getting shorter and shorter, Dr. Beattie is a refreshing change. I have never had such a thorough eye appointment before and highly recommend this office! Multnomah Vision Clinic is nicely located in the center of Multnomah Village and coincidentally close to home. Sienna at the front desk was very sweet. Dr. Beattie did various tests on my eyes and at each step explained what he was checking for besides updating my prescription. I went from dreading eye checks ups to actually not minding it :). Even if we move away I'll definitely be heading back in two years for my next check up here. read more

Unfortunately Dr Beattie has retired . Excellent Dr and staff . Dr. Breedan is no longer practicing he was also a very good Dr. I had many issues with the new staff and office manager. Had a miss fit with a pair of glasses I bought from them that literally would fall off my nose when I looked down. I went back and tried to get a different frame and was asked to work with them. I did and went back a minimum of 4 times. They finally told me I had gone over the 15 days from when I picked them up to exchange for a new frame. I was never informed of that time line while "working" with them. I was then told they could add a different type of nose grip. That would have looked ridiculous being the frame style. I told them I had worked with them as asked and now wanted my money back, $700.00, or a new frame at no cost to me. I was angry and frustrated with the office manager and I know there was no love loss for me. After the staff talked to the new owners they offered another frame style. I tried to find one that would fit the new lenses as I really wasn't trying to screw them over. This entire process took about 4 months. I will never go back, a relief to them I am sure and would not recommend this vision clinic as I did when Dr Beattie owned it. read more

We've gone here since Dr. Beattie was here, and always liked it, but it's just gotten better over the years. The office staff are amazing and very responsive. They walked me through the rebate process for contact lenses with great patience, and when my daughter got contact lenses for the first time a few years ago, they worked with her for HOURS, over several visits. She didn't need to make an appointment, she'd just drop in and they'd give her tips and let her practice there. They are endlessly patient with my kids as they try on every single pair of glasses before they make up their minds. And we all love Dr. Jade. read more

I have been going to Multnomah Vision Clinic for years. Dr. Beattie was my optometrist since the beginning, and I loved him and his amazing attention to detail and commitment to "get it right," rather than just "get it good enough." My eyes proved to be quite the challenge in finding the right contacts, but he never gave up and made sure I got the optimal vision he could possibly provide, even if it took a little longer than most of his patients. Fast forward to today,and there's a new optometrist. Dr. Beattie retired, and I was a little nervous to give his replacement, Dr. Breeden, a go at my eyes. Well, boy am I ever glad that I did! Dr. Breeden is just as attentive to my needs and actually listened and understood my concerns/observations. He took time to explain everything I had questions on, and provided a very comfortable eye exam. I'm going to miss Dr. Beattie, but they couldn't have picked a better replacement with Dr. Breeden. The staff is also always as accommodating as they can be, and super helpful (ordering me free trial contacts so that they would be fresh for my exam, and then ordering them again when I accidentally destroyed my first trial pair only a few days before the exam), they make sure to offer every deal possible and maximize my insurance benefits, and are always willing to take the extra time when I have questions. read more

So, I was like "I need to visit and conquer every business in the village"! Ha! Thought I'd never need to come to Multnomah Vision Clinic! Or rather, I hoped I'd never visit it! I hate going to eye doctors. I would rather get a shot in my mouth than have an eye exam! I have the most sensitive eyes, and mentally it stresses me out big time to have them examined! I am so thankful for eye specialists! So thankful that they know what they're doing and can help me when I need them! Dr Beattie and his staff are super friendly, and caring, and available to help! I had two instances in the last month where I needed to be seen with short notice. Really great people. I even got a phone call and letter each time to check and see how I was doing! Multnomah Vision Clinic feels old school in all the right ways -- charming storefront wedged into a row of shops that include a candy shop and a bookstore, in a neighborhood that feels like Mayberry ... street parking right in front of the front door ... I was warmly greeted by staff ... kindly doctor has fancy eye-testing machines, etc. Feels like the 1940's in a way I like. But it's updated and modern in all the right ways, too -- sophisticated equipment and testing, a great selection of stylish frames from several well known brands, easy insurance billing and payment, etc. Convenience and efficiency sound boring, but in today's busy world, it's good to walk in, get the full attention of doctor and staff, and get going back to work. I really liked her energy and the service from her staff. They are using Covid protocols and are friendly and responsive. The decor changes make the clinic seem more spacious as well. Dr. Breedan is great, very thoughtful and thorough in his exams. I too am a former patient of Dr. Beattie. The new retail eyewear staff was very disappointing to work with. My exam was scheduled late in the day and I was ready to purchase eyeglasses but the staff needed to close up shop right at 5pm. This means I will need to shop elsewhere for my glasses or take more time off work if I want to order through this shop. No thank you! I will be happy to take my business elsewhere. Sadly, my husband and I had a negative experience here. My husband ordered contacts through the clinic, and was told they were ready to pick up. I went in to get them for him and they didn't have them there-just a sample pair. The front desk receptionist said she would order them and they'd be ready to pick up in two days. Well, two weeks roll by, I call, and they tell me they aren't in yet. Another two weeks roll by and I call and ask about the contacts and they say, "sorry I'm busy, can I call you back?" So I end up going in and they tell me the contacts were never ordered. The lady helping me this time was un-apologetic, and rolled her eyes at me, and acted like it wasn't their fault. She finally said they would order them. I got a call they were in the other day. I go in today to pick them up and the front desk receptionist is on the phone and doesn't even acknowledge me for a minute, then finally says, "can you hold for a few minutes?" So I wait about 5 minutes and she's still on the phone. Finally, another lady comes to help me(the one that ordered the contacts) and she grabs them from the back for me. I mention to her that I've been waiting awhile and she is again un-apologetic and rolls her eyes at me. I tell her it's not good customer service to make a patient wait while you are on the phone. I have worked in a medical office and the patient comes first before the phone-you always place the person on hold and help the person right in front of you. Again, she rolls her eyes and huffs and puffs back with no apology. Definitely not going back there. There is a lack of customer service skills and organization. The staff there is not friendly, and one receptionist in particular likes to roll her eyes and is extremely snarky over the phone and in person. read more

I'm really disappointed by the level of customer service. It took over a month and a half to have my new rx lenses made. The lab made a mistake and they weren't the right size, so they sent them back to lab to be fixed and then the lab lost my lenses. Meanwhile I was never contacted by the office on either of the above, I had to call them. Finally a month and a half later they got me my new lenses and charged me. I gave them an opportunity to make the situation right by not charging me, but was told they would see if it was possible. And guess what? They never called me back. While I realize the mistake was made by the lab and not the office, they should have done something to provide a good customer experience. Dissapointing! read more

I was Dr. Breeden's patient from his old clinic and followed him to Multnomah Vision Clinic. My first exam there was with Dr. Beattie, and it was fine. But I called Multnomah Vision Clinic on December 27th to ask them to expedite an order of my contacts because I'm leaving the country for work on January 5th. I should have ordered earlier, but I was distracted by a sudden, tragic death in my family. All the receptionist could say is that they couldn't guarantee I would get them in time. I suggested that they call the contact company and ask them to expedite shipment, for which I would pay the extra costs, but the receptionists (one consulted with another one) refused. They said they didn't do that. The same day, I went back to Dr. Breeden's old clinic (Visionworks in Beaverton) and asked them to help me. Even though I was no longer a patient there, they called the contact company, I paid for expedited shipping and the contacts arrived at my door the next day. It's clear that the Multnomah Vision Clinic doesn't need or care about me as a patient. I will never be going back there. read more

Not the best choice anymore, i came back here because he did a great job,and had baseline recordings of my eyes... but the office messed up my insurance gift certificate then sent me somewhere else, diagnosed cataracts in both eye now have to be sent to an opthamologist, like dr beatty. oh well I guess I can't blame them for insurance runaround. read more
