When my daughter ordered a slew of furniture for her apartment that needed to be assembled I was desperate. I googled Brookline handyman and Jeff's website popped up. I called and he answered the phone. I asked if he could come by tomorrow. He said he could in the late afternoon and would call me tomorrow. He called and said he could come by earlier then planned. He came on time with his co worker Tom. They charge 75.00 per hour per person. It was worth every penny. They were professional, courteous, and willing to utilize our help to make the job go quicker which in turn would save us money. I trusted them and would definitely use them again. read more

Tom was awesome! Knowledgeable, friendly, respectful. After we complained about not having any screens for at least a week during the height of summer, Alex tried to make it right by picking the old screens back up and re-installing them on a Saturday. The new windows do open and close now with new chains instead of ropes. Unfortunately, however, we are overall unsatisfied with the company for a number of reasons: - Requested one check be made out to the company, and one to the individual person; made it feel like it wasn't a business deal anymore. - Poor communicator. Would not reply to both me and my partner via email. Despite numerous attempts, would not clearly state plans in writing. - Very reluctant to provide written quote; and when quote was provided, was only written in email, not on letterhead. - Many verbal commitments made during quoting process were not honored during performance of the repairs (i.e. duration, cost). - One person asked for our wifi password and sat on our couch working on his laptop while the other two performed the labor. - Wanted screens repaired, and three new screens built. We first heard that could be done in one week for $20/screen. Then it was "the next day" for $20/screen. Then it was "at least one week" for $20/screen...then $25/screen...then $40/screen after going to another vendor to repair/replace the screens because the first vendor didn't have capacity. Why wasn't the first vendor's capacity reviewed/confirmed prior to committing to do the work? - Needed four panes of glass replaced. We first heard that could be done in one week. Then it was "the next day." Then it was again "at least one week." No commitment from the owner on when the repairs would be completed (they had the physical sash at this point - we're without secure windows, in a street-level apartment). After multiple inquiries, he finally agreed to a particular day; then it was pulling teeth to get a time. Then they were late, without any warning. And he showed up without tools to install the window...so he sat around waiting for tools to be delivered. read more

Jeff hasn't actually done work for me, but made good recommendations and recommended an electrician for me. He's very nice and helpful on the phone and tells you when he's a waste of your money. If I could use him, I definitely would. read more

I was not pleased with my service by Jeff Lasky. He first came to assess our doors that needed hinge replacements as they were falling off. He said they he would be able to fix the problem without any issues but would have to charge $450 for minimum of 4 hours man work. He did agree to help with anything else needed if there was time left. He arrived 2 days later with a woman that clearly did not have any experience in carpentry. Another worker arrived about 30 minutes later who actually knew what he was doing. They began to replace the screws but ran out of inserts and Mr. Lasky left to buy more screws at the hardware store. He returned about an hour later with inserts and screws, but did not have enough to repair all the necessary hinges with screws. So he decided to not replace every screw and left every door with missing screws and informed me that it was not necessary to replace the screws. My husband arrived after the repairs were finished and was extremely angry that the work was not finished especially after we paid him $480.00 for this simple task. They did help to set up a desk and fix a towel rod without difficulty. My husband called him thereafter and requested that he finish the job. He agreed to return within the week to finish up the job. He sent 2 guys to replace the remaining screws a week later and one of the guys stated that one of the doors with a missing screw was not worked on previously, but he wasn't even there the day we initially fixed the doors. After I insisted that they needed to fix everything they worked on previously, the job was finally done. But this was the most time-consuming and infuriating experience I have had ever with a professional company. I will never use this company again and advise others to avoid this place that does a poor job with poor customer service. This entire experience gave us so much unnecessary stress! read more

I want to thank Jeff for contacting me so quickly. The top hinge of my kitchen cabinet was broken and every time I went into my kitchen, I feared that it would break off and fall on my head. I taped it shut leaving me without my main cabinet and the tape kept getting loose. I spoke with several handy man and they were all busy or tried to fit me into their schedule. This went on for 3 weeks. Not good. Finally, I went to yelp because a friend of my told me she never had a bad experience from yelp. As it turned out, Jeff lives right down the street from me and his son, who works for Jeff, emailed me to set up a actual day and time to fix my cabinet.. a miracle!! His son came to my house, exactly on time, fixed my hinges and then went to every cabinet in my kitchen and checked and adjusted all of my other hinges. While he was at my house, I asked him to put up a wine rack and hang a window blinds. I feel like I have a new kitchen and just love my wine rack. He was very, very precise and professional and I think his rate is reasonable.
