The response from Chris is ridiculous. We could have reached an understanding if the work that was promised was done. We had reached out about the coolant multiple times, and Chris said to add coolant (3 times in a month?!). We had no choice, but to take it to another mechanic. Only after it was diagnosed as the radiator, Chris addressed the situation. Why would we have had Chris look at the work the other mechanic did? They performed the work satisfactorily. Not sure what the DMV comment was about... If the purchase price PLUS what we put into it to get it to a safe/reliable condition, were offered, it would not be sitting in our driveway now. I have the texts to prove this was never mentioned. As a matter of fact, when we noted the money we put into the car, Chris dismissed it and commented he was "out hundreds on this car now too", and this back and forth was "not worth getting an ulcer over". And, the compressor was not replaced as it was promised during the sale of the car. Chris' reply still doesn't offer to rectify anything, just an imaginary tale of offering to compensate us for all of our costs thus far. It is upsetting to be put in this situation. And worse, to have been treated with such disregard by someone who you thought you could trust. Going back and forth commenting on these reviews is ridiculous. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars this has to be the worst auto mechanic shop I've ever been to in my life. I brought my car here and it came back more broken than when I brought it in. I don't know what they do but they're re definitely the most unprofessional people. Chris is never there to answer the phone so you never know what's going on or when you're getting your car back and John is one of the rudest people I've met. So I'd recommend going somewhere else even if they're not a Volkswagen and audi Specialist. read more

I bought a car from Chris at LCG in January. He passed the inspection on it with bald tires (that kept going flat), bad wipers and a check engine code (he reset the computer and threw a sticker on it) just to get the car out of his lot. He said it would be a reliable car and the check engine light came on 50 miles later. He kept the car for over a month and never fixed the problem The car didn't shift right from the time of sale (in which he brought to our attention) he said it was sitting a long time and it would straighten itself out. The car got stuck in gear and a mechanic from a reputable shop fixed the gear linkage to make it operable. He offered to buy the car back at purchase price after I sunk 1500 dollars into it for new tires, gear linkage, wipers and an axel "oh yeah the axel." So he can sell it for more???. I don't think so!!! Additionally Chris never replaced the air conditioner compressor, like he promised to. A.short time later the temperature light came on and the antifreeze was low. He said it was probably an air gap in the radiator. A week later it happened again. The reputable garage saw a leak in the radiator. Today my wife contacted him because a hundred miles later the check engine light is back on and he tells her " he will consider any further contact with him to be harassment." WOW!!! Chris really? He thinks that expecting honesty is harassment and falsely accuses his customers of harassing HIM???!! He is either a really experienced con man or a really bad mechanic with no conscience. A $3,000.00 car became a $5,000.00 paperweight that sits in my driveway while I take my gas guzzling truck to work.. At least my truck is reliable. A total nightmare. Beware!! read more

Went to get my car diagnosed told them I was leaking oil and from where (according to Valvoline). They told me I had to replace my Valve Cover Gasket. I asked how much because I wasn't sure if I would have the money till next week. 310 dollars was the total to replace it. I told them I'd come back next week because I didn't have that much money and so they charged me 108 dollars for that diagnosis. Absolutely ridiculous for a diagnosis. Should have traveled into White Plains and gotten a diagnosis for free. Will not be going back. read more

I was recommended by a friend to bring my Volkswagen to last chance garage in 2014. Chris was extremely helpful and called me before doing any service to the car. He told me what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix. He had the car done by the end of the day, and billed me exactly what I was told it would cost. Since then I have brought the same car more than 4 times to him for different problems. Every time Chris has told me exactly how much it would cost before doing any work, and always has the car done within a day or two. I have recommended this garage to other family members that have all experienced the same great service. The other week I brought my car on short notice. I needed to get a coolant leak fixed that I thought might be caused by a cracked thermostat housing. Chris confirmed that indeed the thermostat housing needed to be replaced. This is a very labor intensive job. I had planned to drive the car from New York to Illinois 4 days later, and was unsure if it would get done by Friday. Although it was not finished Friday, Chris managed to get the car fixed on Saturday, a day the shop is not even open. As someone who lives in New York City, making the trip to Last Chance Garage is well worth the expertise and service. Chris is the most honest shop owner I have ever spoken to, and genuinely cares about his customers. Will continue to bring my Volkswagen and other makes to him to have repaired. read more

Once again, Last Chance Garage proved to be great. This past Wednesday, my wife was driving her 2006 BMW 325xi, when all of a sudden a red alert came on the temperature gauge, the car itself slowed down into a safe-drive mode and would only run at greatly reduced speed. She pulled off to the side of the road and called Chris, one of the Last Chance owners. Chris advised her to stay put and he would come to her. She was about 5 miles away and he came in about 15 minutes. He said the car was over-heating and that he would drive the car slowly to Last Chance; my wife road with Chris' assistant to the garage. Chris said it would take an hour or two to diagnose the cause of the over-heating. So, my wife called me and I came and picked her up. Chris called us about two hours later and said the problem was the electric water-pump that circulates the radiator coolant (anti-freeze), which was not working and needed to be replaced. Chris said he was surprised that the pump broke because, even though the car is nine years old, it only has about 59,400 miles on it. He said that the BMW specifications also recommend replacing the thermostat when replacing the pump. He said the pump would cost $535, the thermostat $121, a bolt kit $18 and BMW spec anti-freeze $18. He said it would take a day for delivery of the parts, and that the labor would take about four hours. Two days later, the car was ready and the cost was exactly as quoted. The nearly $700 that the parts cost is the price you pay for having a BMW. Last Chance's $105 hourly rate is the least expensive in the northern Westchester / Southern Putnam County area, its auto-repair expertise is top rate, and its personal customer attention is almost priceless! read more
