Connected to the Omni hotel, this place is super quaint and full of charm. The bar is filled to the brim and regardless of what your drink of choice may be, the bartender will fulfill. I stayed at the Omni Parker House during a convention in November. I was given free drink tickets to Last Hurrah. The service was great! I paid for a couple of drinks and I thought the prices were very reasonable. If you want to try the famous Boston Cream Pie - you can get one to go at the bar. That's much easier than eating in the full service restaurant. My only complaint is that the bar seats are small and make a snug seat for those with fat bottoms. read more

Came here for the holiday pop-up "Blitzens". It was decorated super cute but they literally weren't playing any music? Like not only were they not playing Christmas music at a holiday bar but they weren't playing anything! Half the drinks were sold out by the time we got there. I opted for an espresso martini and it was the worst espresso martini I've ever had. No froth, so much cream, tasted like they put in this mornings coffee from the continental breakfast. And one of the most historic locations in the city is the "Omni Parker House" and it's Whiskey Bar "The Last Hurrah!" Founded in 1855, the Omni was the location where JFK announced his first run for Congress in 1946, JFK proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier in 1953, and Kell had his first drink after turning 21 in the USA in 2008...amongst other events. It was imperative that we make a trip here, for nostalgia sake! Arriving at this gorgeous hotel, we got a seat at the bar! The winter atmosphere blended well with the cozy classic bar interior filled with dark wood and leather furniture! To settle in to the experience further, we settled on a number of delicious classic cocktails: BOSTON CREAM PIE - Vanilla Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, & Baileys Irish Cream! THE LAST HURRAH ESPRESSO MARTINI - Fresh Brewed Espresso, Vodka, & A Splash of Coole Swan! LEMON VANILLA BOURBON SMASH - Mitcher's Bourbon, Vanilla Vodka, Muddled Lemon, & Orange Bitters! We decided to come here for some Boston Creme pie after our guide from the ghost tour recommended it. They were busy, but the hostess helped us find a table; she was lovely compared to the bartender, who wasn't accommodating. We waited a bit for our server. But once he arrived, things went smoothly. We stopped in here to eat during our walk along the Freedom Trail. This is definitely a cool bar with some nice decor! I ordered the club sandwich and it was very tasty. The chips that came with it were also good. My husband got the clam chowder and enjoyed it. We of course had to finish with trying the Boston cream pie! We had never had one before and this one was really delicious! It was surpassingly lighter than we expected, which was good! Went to try the bar and all the good looking cocktails and the RUDE hostess at the front was no help. We showed up to the bar at 10:45 and she said they weren't seating anymore people. I asked when they closed and she said 12:00, I asked why they weren't seating and she said because it was last call. So you're telling me it's last call an hour and 15 minutes before closing??? ----- Concise Review Boston Creme Pies, Mojitos... and wonderful service! ----- Longer Review We traveled to South Tamworth, New Hampshire, by way of Boston, MA and then North Conway, NH, for the wedding of our niece to her husband. The trip was brief - Thursday evening to Sunday, but filled with family, fun, and some exploring. On Friday we explored Boston, focusing mostly on the Freedom Trail. As we drove into town, looking to park so we could walk the Freedom Trail, out of the corner of my eye I saw the sign covering the window... stating that the Boston Creme Pie was first created at the Omni Hotel. I called the hotel and John at the front desk confirmed just that - The Omni is the home of the Boston Creme Pie, they can be ordered dine-in or carry-out, and the restaurant/bar is open until at least 10pm (maybe 11pm). Right away, in the early afternoon, we planned to dine there for dessert after dinner. So after a great afternoon on the Freedom Trail, and a dinner... and time to wait for our son to fly in (he came a day later because of Friday classes he didn't want to miss), we visited the Omni. The Omni has done a wonderful job welcoming guests who aren't staying there... there are several tables and high-backed chairs in the lobby near The Last Hurrah to relax and enjoy just sitting or food and drinks. The walls are adorned with a letter from Alexander Graham Bell to his wife hand-written in the hotel, and some nice artwork. And the decorations throughout are classic, especially the doors to the elevators. We ordered three Boston Cream Pies (cakes), two non-alcoholic Mojitos, and two Aqua Panna waters. The (female, Fri 9/10 9pm) server was very friendly and helpful getting our order. She pulled some magic and acquired some mint for our daughter's non-alcoholic mojito and the bartender made one of the best we've tasted. The bartender also helped us with directions to speed us to Logan airport to get our son. The Boston Creme Pies were goooood... white cake and internal creme, topped with chocolate icing. The first one disappeared quickly. We then ordered two more to take with us; intending for before bed in the hotel, but they served well for breakfast instead. The staff was very attentive, already knowing that we needed to depart to pick up our son - thanks! Thank you, Omni hotel! What a really cool place to hangout and enjoy some good food and drinks. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the patrons can be very diverse, you may find yourself in a good conversation here as I did. There's a food menu for some bar bites (I loved the Reuben sliders - very good) and of course you can always try the legendary Boston Cream Pie. This review is from my last visit in February. I was in town for work and meeting a friend for dinner. It was cold out, likely in the mid 30s, and I was on foot taking the subway from Seaport to the Boston Common Park Street exit. It was a quick walk from the subway station and located on a decently busy street. The restaurant is located inside of a hotel. Walking in, I noticed a few people waiting in seats chatting quietly. Once I found the entrance to the restaurant which is located by the door, front of house greeted me. The interior was pretty with ample lighting, lots of windows and mirrors. I spotted my friend in the framed mirrors before actually seeing him so I felt like a dazed fly when I didn't see him when he was in front of me. My friend had gotten there in advance and had gotten a table, so no waiting was necessary. He chose the restaurant since a bunch of other restaurants he was looking at around the area were busy with long wait times. It was a Thursday night, so it was slow enough that the waiter was able to space us and the other patrons out enough that everyone could hear each other without raising voices or asking to repeat what they said. I especially appreciated this since I can get overstimulated in noisy environments. On the table were waters and pretzel bits which were warm, salted, and buttery. We enjoyed them and caught up before an older gentleman approached us and asked if we wanted dinner. My friend hesitated and said yes after seeing me a bit puzzled. He ordered a flat bread pizza and I ordered a clam chowder. We shared both and both were amazing and really hit the spot. The pizza was hot, cheesy and well balanced. The clam chowder was warm and creamy and served with a small bag of crackers. Food total for the three items were $40 which wasn't bad. Our waiter asked if we wanted dessert which we declined. He had noticed I was wearing outdoor snowboots, and had asked if I wanted to try their Boston Cream Pie if I was visiting, I kindly turned him down noting I'd be back in the city again in a few months. Food - good, above average, really hits the spot if you want something warm and cozy - 8.75/10 Service - good, catered more toward the business crowd, the waiter was noticeably more kind to my friend in a suit than myself, presenting him with items I requested, asking him questions, etc. Lost a point for making me feel the power swayed in my friends favor as opposed to equal amongst both of us. Other waiters appeared kind and respectful toward other diners as well - 9/10 Ambiance - Cozy, great lighting, I could see my friend well, and it helped partition out the booths and the restaurant area, quiet enough I could have a conversation without hearing neighbors - 10/10 Overall - 9/10 read more

I hope whiskey lovers would've heard of "King Alexander III". You see, I'm a lover of whiskeys aged in multiple casks, and this is aged in six (I think), and gets rave reviews. So what then does The Last Hurrah have anything to do with this? Well, King Alexander III is a $250 bottle. Therefore, I wanted to be able to try a dram before deciding whether or not I was going to cough up the $250 on a bottle. I got in touch with The Dalmore (they make it) to find out which bars carry this liquid gold. Out of the two, another bar carries a shot for $60 where as this one carries it for $30. While by itself this is rather expensive, considering the cost of the bottle I thought this was more or less reasonable. By the way, it's great whiskey, and well worth it. What I was really thrilled about was when I saw the Scotch list (which has way more than on their regular menu) that there are sample sizes. While I this isn't available with everything, being able to taste many different scotches without even having to commit to a whole 50ml. Another thing which was an incredibly pleasant surprise: Glencairn glasses. Being someone who likes to savor every aspect of whiskey, these glasses are awesome for nosing and sipping. No better way for me to enjoy some fine scotch. They have a pretty lengthy list of martinis as well. I don't remember which one I had, but I do remember it being pleasantly strong, smooth, and generally well balanced. Not being very party-hardy, I enjoyed the atmosphere here. It was generally quieter, and less packed than many other places. I've enjoyed many amazing cocktails at the Russel House tavern in Harvard Square, but this is the place to enjoy a drink in a relatively calmer environment. Very well done folks! read more

Let me start by saying I only had a Paper Plane Martini which was fine, I guess. After siting down however I instantly looked for another option. This place has zero vibe! ...especially for a $20 martini. The menu looked unremarkable and it did take several minutes to be served by an uninviting waiter. We stopped in to this cozy little bar that services the Omni Parker House. Dimly lit but clean and fancy with a long wooden bar and a number of tables. Large display of bottled spirits behind the bar, a half-dozen or so beer taps and a very nicely printed cocktails menu in a leather binder. My colleague chose a "Perfect Martini" and he enjoyed it. Hand mixed and served very cold. I had a bottled imported beer that was also cold, poured perfectly and in the right sort of glassware. The small bowl of warm nuts was a nice touch. And not all peanuts! Only complaint is that the restrooms are a very convoluted walk across the hotel lobby and upstairs. I'm sure that this relates to the age and design of the hotel. read more

Decent prices for decent drinks. The food seems cheap but portions are small and the food is incredibly bland and mediocre. But if you like flavor of any kind at all in your food go somewhere else. The pizza sauce was straight tomato paste, the chicken was unseasoned, the "curry" was as flavorful as a La Croix. The restaurant is beautiful and had stunning decor, in a historic building.
