There are a few reasons why this coffee shop stands out in Flagstaff. It's a go to for me mainly because of the atmosphere and pricing. What they offer besides coffee: The shop itself doesn't feel cluttered or dimly lit like some other coffee shops. One entire wall is all windows which makes for an open, refreshing feel. They have warm, light tones with some plants hanging around. I hit this place on my way to work because it's the last stop to get coffee. There's a microwave to heat up any food you have, a water station to fill up, fresh meals to choose from and bunch of home baked goods. It's a perfect place to come work on homework or what not because the music playlist sets a calm mood, but it's not distracting. The coffee: Some drinks are steeply priced, but then again I haven't found a single place in town where some aren't. There are plenty of reasonably priced options that they are willing to spice up for no charge, like adding vanilla into your late. I've never had any burnt roast and they are always willing to tailor a drink more to what you like. I have had problems with staff at other shops that don't help you figure out what to get. I'm no coffee connoisseur, but the staff here does the hard work for you by asking questions about what flavors you normally enjoy. Their baked goods are a must try and they have a few tasty vegan options too! My favorite drink is a traditional macchiato with soy milk and a hint of vanilla. read more

We don't find ourselves near here very often, but when we do, we stop! Late for the Train makes a delicious latte every time and we LOVE all of the amazing goodies they carry, most of which are local I believe. I am a sucker for zucchini bread and that's usually what gets me but they have all kinds of goodies even quick lunch options. They also have a really great little side room that would accommodate a small meeting, never thought to do it but if the need ever arises, I know my spot! They also have an outdoor area for seating that is really great in the warmer weather. A great local coffee stop for sure! read more

I love this local Flagstaff shop. Friendly staff, smooth coffee, and local roasting practices. I have a ton that I get filled with beans every time I visit. I usually get the Carmel latte and most of the other things on the menu are delicious. They have 2 locations, however the one on San Francisco has very limited parking. Best place for espresso, cappuccino, and they roast their own beans, whenever I'm up in the area, this is where I go. I believe they moved to a larger space. I'm a cappuccino snob, trust me on this one. I always bring back a couple pounds of their espresso roast. read more

LFT is a great community oriented cafe with excellent staff, plenty of seating(large patio in the back), delicious breakfast burritos and coffee(they also have my favorite Pellegrino soda). I enjoyed my coffee and burrito on a comfy couch. There is nice artwork and attractive decor. The place is very clean and a well run operation. You will be energized and make your train down the street after a visit. Note: This was one of the few places in Flagstaff allowing indoor seating with nice AC(bonus points while other places forced customers to sit in the blazing 100F heat). I had such a pleasant experience here. I got here early in the morning because Luxe was too busy. Anyway, I was very surprised and super happy with the service. 2 girls were very nice, customer oriented, and professional. They helped my with my tea order, and were very helpful. I also ordered a breakfast burrito, the bacon, potato, egg, onion, cheese & Italian seasoning one. (Onions weren't over powering either, very subtle.) It was so good!! We usually have a rule that we won't go to the same place twice but we ended up here two days in a row because the coffee was so delicious. I recommended Dave's rockrammer! I love this place. My daughter and I have a Sunday morning tradition of grabbing a coffee and catching up. We've hit every coffee shop in Flagstaff and keep coming back. The coffee is always excellent and they have great breakfast burritos. My daughter recommends the Classic (egg, potato, onion and spices). You can get coffee to go, by the pound or pick up some LFTT swag. We like to sit and hang because the ambience is chill. Lots of parking and a covered patio for you and your dog. I only give it 3 stars because it's a pretty basic joint. You order at the counter and heat up your own food. Don't expect white linen tablecloths. This is our morning go to when we go on adventures in Northern Arizona. You will find their shop full of bikers, hikers, and locals grabbing a quick cup as well. While it's comfortable enough to hang out in and read a paper, it's a much better place to get your morning charge. They compliment their coffee with baked goods and a fridge filled with lunch items. Maybe it's cuz they roast their own beans, maybe it's cuz Flagstaff is covered in snow and it's ball freezing cold, whatever the case, awesome coffee. Smooth smooth smooth. In a death match a cup of coffee from Late for the Train would rip the head off of Starbucks spine and all, that's how good it was. Donna had a cup of hot chocolate. Didn't taste it myself but she said it was good. Coffee shop was warm and toasty which thawed out the bones and had a really cool vibe. I was spending some time on the north end of Flagstaff (a.k.a. the edge of the middle of nowhere), and this was my only sustenance within walking distance, so I had to give it a try! LFTT is an auspicious coffee shop--the only thriving business in sight on this road. Their thorough branding, from the large, weathered sign to the cups sporting their logo all tell me it's been a big deal for quite some time. I don't quite see why. More often than not, I prefer my coffee slightly sweetened, but unflavored. At their suggestion, I tried their Americano "shaken, with sugar and half and half". I thoroughly regret this, as it was extremely, incredibly heavy with the cream. Like, there was almost no sugar (which isn't that offensive), but there was more half and half than coffee, and that's gross. My next Americano was certainly plain, and a moderately enjoyable experience. They have more items on the drink menu that intrigue me, and my friends liked them, so I may someday be back to try some twists on a classic mocha. What I am not sure I'll give a try on my next visit is the food. It's pre-made, which is cool, but then refrigerated with the expectation you'll heat it up yourself in the microwave like some type of peasant. Well, I never! They've got a selection of roasts, and seem passionate about carrying a variety of blends that could please anyone. Between all the espresso and cold brew I drink, it really has me realizing that almost no one really appreciates or serves a wide selection nice, old-fashioned coffee any more. Juxtaposed with unassuming furniture and walls bereft of any overt sense of character, Late For The Train is what I imagine coffee houses to have been before I started going to them. And therein, I suppose, lies its charm in this sleepy corner of town. Something simple and old-fashioned. However, I found myself (a few months back) cold and wet and in need of a refresh when I discovered Late For the Train Coffee. Eeeeeehxcellent! This is a friendly cool coffee shop - the vibe is perfect! It is also easily accessible on your way up to (or back from) Snowbowl. It is the perfect location! They have really great coffee. My family and I visited downtown Flagstaff and were itching for a coffee. We parked in the parking lot right next door to "Late for the Train" and stopped by for a quick coffee. A group of 9 people walking into a small coffee shop is probably their worst nightmare. Needless to say, the staff working were extremely friendly and welcoming. They got our drink orders and got to work - took approximately five minutes for a total of 6 coffee drinks. The coffee was delicious. I didn't think it was over-priced and definitely seems on par with other coffee locations around this area. I would definitely recommend! I really enjoy independently owned & operated businesses (coffee & restaurants) that render uniqueness products & services. LFTT is one of these places that I really treasure. His Coconino Mocha drink tasted great, and was not too sweet. I had regular coffee with milk. Both our drinks were iced. They were tasty. What I found noteworthy about the cafe was the pastry. My husband and I split a morning glory muffin and some vegan zucchini bread. They were excellent. I definitely want to try more of their pastry, but will avoid their half-dozen gluten-free choices, even though they looked good. Some other customers walked out with what might have been tortilla wraps wrapped in paper. I did not look at the entire menu. I loved the ambiance and the artwork on the wall. There were many lovely landscape paintings. I didn't notice whether they were for sale. There are a lot of large windows. This coffee shop is far enough from Fort Valley Road/Highway 180 that I didn't feel like I was about to be hit by a car. I didn't notice traffic noise. The cafe is on the way to the Grand Canyon, and has been around for years. The coffee shop has ample seating, both inside and out. I believe this place used to be a gas station. The outdoor seating is in a little gazebo where the pumps used to be. My husband and I look forward to a return visit. There are 2 other branches in Flagstaff. read more

Was short on $ since we were mountain biking but I really wanted to check out this place- it looked like a gem and cute coffee place. I'm sorry to say that I didn't have the $ for coffee, but we were on the road with our bikes- we enjoyed a slice of lasagna for lunch, 1 soda, peanut butter cookie, and complimentary water- not bottled (for riders I assume). We had a total of $7 between us. I would have liked to have enjoyed some coffee, but it was a bit pricey for the amount of money we had. In my family, we take coffee seriously. My youngest enjoys chocolate milk, my teens get mochas and Frappuccino's, as for me, Flat white steamed milk goes a long way with me. Don't get me wrong I've had my fair share of macchiatos, lattes, and mochas. But there's just something about expresso and steamed milk, especially from good roasted beans. I tried the Retrometro which is steamed milk and coconut, flavor of an Almond Joy, without all the sugar, and a coffee twist.
