As I was doing my research of local businesses in the greater West Lafayette business, Latea kept coming up, and coming up, and coming up along my searched (great photos, great reviews, lots of check ins and tips). After stopping by here, I can 100% see why this was the case. This place is great! As Jack, the business owner explained during a Yelp event, you are taken care of from the second you walk into this place, till the time you are ready to be finished with the experience. Visually, this place is awesome. It's modern yet homey and welcoming. Cozy for working but professional enough to have a business meeting if needed. The bathrooms are absolutely amazing too, I might add: clean, dimly lit. Their menu is massive, with lots of customizable options for every drink and item that you order. It was a hot, sunny, summer day when I stopped by to purchase a drink, so I went with an iced passionfruit drink. The employee asked me how sweetened I wanted it. I normally don't put any sugar in my teas, but she suggested we do so so it wasn't too bitter. I went with the lowest percentage of sugar added, but it was still too sweet. I probably wouldn't add any sugar next time I were to order that. Their treats and pastries are also all made in house and their sweets are also made in house. The products are all sourced responsibly and as local and organic as possible, which is very important to me. They also cater to all dietary needs, so vegetarians, vegans, gluten free eaters...rejoice! From start to finish, the entire experience is taken care of. From the interior, the service, the quality of the products and where they come from and how they're made, to the branding, logo, and simplicity of the experience. What a great stop for some local sweets! Cookies, pastries & desserts are homemade and you can tell! I don't like getting cookies at restaurants because they never taste homemade but these shortbread cookies are AMAZING! Bubble teas are perfect! Each drink is customizable and that makes it all the better. You're sure to get something you'll love. Finally, the space is modern, clean & green! Heat sealed cups instead of additional bulky plastic lids & a place for recycling of the plastic. Lots of work space or lounging space if you just want to hang out. The place that most closely resembles the bubble tea in Taiwan. Makes sense, since the owner is actually from Taiwan, and spent the time and effort to pick his ingredients. Bubble tea done the right way. Prices are a bit higher, but it's justified. No other place within 100 miles (or more) of range beats this. Plus they use the good ingredients so. Latea is the best milk tea I have, at least in West Lafayette. I could safely tell that the tea is actually made by true tea leaves, not something else. The quantity of milk here is good as well. Also, the boba is very chewy and tasty. All of these make the milktea (house milk tea) in Latea delicious and naturally tasty. My recommendation for sweetness is half sweet or less. Too many sugar would distract you from tasting the flavor of tea and milk in it. Ice amount is just personal preference, but I prefer no ice since West Lafayette is often cold. Adding a boba can cost you 50 cents, but you could use Yelp discount (10%) by clicking the " check in" in the middle of Latea Yelp's page. Think you can't find good milk tea in Indiana? Think again. Latea is an interesting place to find in the midwest. It reminds me very much of any tea bar or milk tea shop you can find in San Jose, and better yet, the drinks are even better in some cases, if I may say so myself. You would think the milk tea drinks aren't as authentic or fresh, but you will be proven wrong. Latea proves that it can provide the same quality as any other established branch in areas with larger Asian communities. For you Asian kids heading to Purdue, Latea will fulfill your cravings. My freshmen year, Latea didn't have a building, and instead was a phone number you called to get boba. Its been great seeing how Latea has transformed into its own building, and has been so successful. The atmosphere is always casual and welcoming, and I've always enjoyed their bubble tea. My current favorite is the green tea creme float, which is so delicious and almost tastes like jasmine tea. My favorite hot tea is the coconut creme hot tea. Best Bubble Tea in town. Their boba is homemade and they have a frequent purchaser card with deals after so many purchases. Located on campus, it is a student favorite. I've never been there without a line. They offer a few snack foods/desserts as well, but I've never tried those. My usual is the House Milk Tea with Boba. You can adjust your sweetness level, order online, or get it delivered. They can be pretty slow when busy, but every drink is made to order..so I don't mind. Got a free small original milk tea for free because of happy hour!! I purchased large original green milk tea with pudding and despite the many great reviews on Yelp, I was slightly disappointed with my drinks. The tea base for the original green was decent but the pudding was very eggy and were not in blocks like how they are supposed to. The pudding was a mush at the bottom. This place has THE BEST boba ever, and I've tried boba from all over the world. It's always perfectly cooked, perfectly sweet, and around just great. Their drinks are pretty good too. And I highly recommend their Tiramisu Milk Tea if you're having a sugar craving. It's very sweet but so good! Very unique. They also have a variety of sizes which is super nice. The only reason this place isn't all around perfect is because they're often out of things when I come. Either out of one of their bobas or out of a tea flavor. It's really frustrating, and I understand if it was once in awhile but it feels like they're always out of something when I come. It seems odd to be out of boba mid day, and wouldn't you make more? They never say like it'll be a wait but we're out right now, they just said yeah sorry we're out. Their customer service isn't great, but not horrible. This venue is the gold standard for Bubble Tea in the area. Only in the last year or so had I really become interested in bubble tea, but my friends really love the stuff, so I decided I'd give it a try. I got hooked, and I've tried most of the different venues in the area. Latea is definitely the best. I'm a milk tea guy - my standard order here is the brown sugar milk tea with lychee jelly. The drinks here are consistently delicious, and you have so many options to customize your drink. Like it less sweet? They can do that. Less ice? No problem. There are also lots of ways to save money here. They offer a rewards system which only requires your phone number to claim points. There's also a Yelp check in deal (score!) for 10% off. It's usually busy here, but I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a drink. Latea is a West Lafayette essential, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

I couldn't be on I-65 and NOT go to Latea! Loved my Lavender Milk Tea. You can request light ice and quarter/half/less/extra sweet or unsweetened. The boba was perfectly done- soft and wonderfully chewy. I got a Taro Milk Tea also and I am drinking it now. Because it was in the fridge overnight the boba is harder but flavor of drink is good. This place is always busy it seems so drink-getting takes time. They have good seating and WiFi. read more

I come here probably 3-4 times per week, and I always get the mango green tea with boba. It is ALWAYS amazing, I honestly didn't like tea before my boyfriend toon me to Latea. I've tried some of the other bubble tea places in the area and Latea is the best. Their staff is always friendly and the drinks are always delicious. Worst service, I waited 15min in line to order and once I got the order it took 20-30min to get my drinks. My daughter just wanted her bubble tea, WTF, while I was waiting on my drinks people who were behind us gets the drinks before we got ours. What the hell?? While I was observing the people who were in line was the friends of the Employees and so my family got iced down drinks because the employees had them sit out until they service their friends ahead of us when they order after. This is a really nice little spot for tea and french fries. For some reason they never have large cups and they also don't always have every seasoning for the fries available. But this is still probably the best bubble tea in Lafayette! The space is clean and the folks behind the counter are helpful, very polite too. I'm a fan of Latea. I really like that Jack's (the owner) mission is to use the best teas and ingredients available. He doesn't want to use powders or anything that has a lot of chemicals. I really appreciate this as a consumer. The ambiance of the teashop has a hip feel. I really enjoy the milk teas. The menu also consists of more fruity drinks and teas. The also offer a salty crema now that reminds of Sharetea. They also have desserts available that were created and made in house. So if you ever need to satisfy your earl grey, chocolate, or match craving these desserts might do the trick. I've had Kung Fu up the row and there's another bubble tea place that I'm not even considering going to because Latea has really great quality products. read more

Best boba I've had in the Midwest, thus far (referring specifically to the balls haha). Being from California and having moved to Chicago recently, nothing has really been satisfying my boba fix until now. We ordered the green tea latte and regular milk tea. The milk tea is honestly not that great, but the green tea latte is amazing. Got it 50% sweetness, and it was just perfect. But even better than that, was the boba! So chewy and flavorful, this is really what hit my tastebuds the hardest in a good way. The service is also excellent here. My boyfriend asked for a water cup, and the server gave it to us in a large boba cup in record speed. If I'm ever back in the Purdue area, will be sure to come back. read more

This was a very unpleasant experience. The cashier was obviously new and couldn't hear my order properly even though I confirmed multiple times. She got confused and deleted a drink but re-added it when I corrected her. It was a passion OJ black tea and I remember saying that multiple times (very long name). She heard me and repeated it back but we ended up receiving a plain black tea. I called to let them now and this is where things got very bad. The lady on the phone who possibly was the same cashier became VERY rude. She asked me why I didn't check the sticker as if it's my job to verify the drinks? I had said it 3 times to the cashier. She did not apologize once, blamed it on "the system" and didn't even offer a partial refund. I hope that the manager can see this and reprimand that employee as is she is not fit to be in customer service. If I see her next time I will take my business elsewh UPDATE: One of the managers called me later that night to apologize and offered a full refund for the drinks in my order that day.
