Disappointing. The food was very very far below average. We got the 2 for 20. The fried yuca was ok but you Can tell it was fried in the same oil that was real old. The bistec de pollo empanizado was super dry, not even ketchup could save it. The churrasco de pollo was dry and tasteless. The salad was awful. The only decent thing was the free bread that was given at the beginning. The service was not bad, so I can't complain about that. But good lord the kitchen needs to be re-evaluated. read more

We love coming here for the food! Pre-COVID this place was one our fave. Today we opted to come, and noticed there was a line outside. That told us business is really good for them, so that definitely was a good sign for us . Normally we sit at the bar, but noticed that wasn't an option. It was our first time sitting at a table/booth. So we go in and didn't see anyone at the front to check us in, although a big line was waiting. We went back out and waited. 10 mins pass other people arrive and go in, to attempt to check in. Literally after that a waitress comes out and calls a name out. That alerted us that somewhere in there there should be a list. My husband goes in again and finds it. By now it's been about 25 mins and a couple arrived and they ask us if we are waiting and say yes, we also informed them them that they have to sign in. Once that couple went in we never saw them come out. This was now two groups that went in before is and they didn't come back out. I opted to see what's going on and noticed those two groups were seated before us. I was disappointed they weren't honoring the list of arrival. I asked why did two groups sit before us and the employee didn't know how to answer that. Another ready to be signed in shared the same thing has happened to her multiple times. Finally we sit and the waitress is barely interested in attending us. All this to say great food but poor service. We just may not come back for a long time. Ugh! read more

One benefit of these marathon 14 hour days at the office is the opportunity to discover a bunch of greasy spoons near my office. The Latin Cafe 2000 is one of them, and actually a recipient of the "Sweet Home Hialeah" award for their service and ambiance. The background music was upbeat Spanish pop, a marked improvement over my recent diner soundtracks. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a bright neon "Hialeah" sign and an attentive waiter who brought my water immediately. Dinner was a nicely sized thick and juicy chicken breast with plenty of cebollitas, red beans and rice moros (though I prefer the ones with black beans - minor issue), and sweet plaintains (maduros). My only gripe was with me getting only one lemon slice, since I like sprinkling it over the chicken and the moros. T'was ok as I sprinkled some hot sauce and "todo chevere". Have always been a fan of this place, but the quality and service has been an embarrassment. Today, after almost 40 minutes waiting for the waiter I left; it's has nothing to do with being understaffed as there over 10 people standing around looking, and when they do talk to you is with an attitude. I enjoyed it. Two of my other old school College friends caught up with each other after 10 years . We ordered a big pitcher of Red Sangria. We had about 4 glass wine size each. This was a good place to go with relatives who are not vegan. I ordered a Bistro salad and moros o congris; they ordered mariquitas, naranja, chicharron de pollo, a miami sandwich and flan. We all enjoyed our meals, and I sampled the yuca con mojo, which came with the chicharoon de pollo. The moros o congris were out of sight and tantalized my taste buds. The empanada is tasty but a bit on the greasy side, the croqueta was delicious, the tuna sandwhich was tasty but it is too much bread for the amount of tuna that they use, many flattening the bread or using a different type would help, also the fries arrived soggy so I would recommend using holed take out plate to prevent this and the churrasco de pollo was tasty but also greasy. read more

Every time we come here the food never disappoints! The servers are always very polite and helpful, especially Isadys! She was our server today & WOW she's amazing! Always on top of all her tables , you can really tell she cares about her job and does so in an effortless matter. Yum, yum, yum! I came here with my grandma the other day before a long drive and so glad I thought to come here. We ordered the "Huevos a la Tradicion", which is basically two eggs (cooked to order), bacon, ham, or sausage, french fries or home fries, coffee (made to order), and a tostada. All of that was a whopping $6, and we shared it! Not everyone can do this obviously, but it made our experience all the better. My grandma just has bread and coffee in the morning (not sure how many abuelas out there are the same), so I told her she could have what came with my meal. The eggs were made the way I asked, the fries were hot and crispy (but still potato-y), the bacon was yum, and my grandma was more than happy with her cafe con leche and tostada! I also ordered a batido de trigo, which was literally the bomb dot com. I've been craving it for so long and was glad to finally have it! On to other things besides food... 1) Parking is slightly limited, but we didn't have a problem finding a spot. 2) They have outdoor and indoor seating. 3) Our service (waitress) was so nice and efficient! This was our second visit in a week. It's close to Palmetto Hospital and we needed a Cuban comfort food fix. Suri was our waitress and she was amazing. Probably the best thing there. We started with the mariquitas. The order was a bit small compared to other Cuban places, but they were good. I had the enchilada Camerones. It was tasty but the white rice was hard and not even warm. My daughter had the chicken soup and it came luke warm and watered down. My husband had ordered a breaded steak and the beans and rice mixture and that also came Luke warm and the beans and rice appeared old and reheated from the day before. There was a man that I think was a manager that greeted the customers and passed by the tables. Too bad the food wasn't as good as the customer service. read more

This place surely delivers and from the constant traffic of Cuban patrons that we saw come through while we were eating, this place is the definitely the place to go for some genuine Cuban food if you're in the area. I can't say im a Cuban food expert but from what I can see...everything was fresh, well seasoned, and just tasted good. My friend had a potato ball with meat filling for an appetizer which was awesome. It had a nice fried outside but a creamy potato inside and filled with delicious ground meat. We both had juices. I had the sugar cane while she had watermelon. They both were great and did not taste artificial. Finally the main dishes I had a reg cuban sandwich while she had one of the daily specials. Both were delicious and way too much for lunch...BUT I LOVE THAT...I don't think I saw any table that DIDNT get to-go boxes bc they give you so much. It is great restaurant, the food is excellent, Magaly is the best employee there; however, this morning we had the worst experience. There's a waitress by the name of Ramona who is really rude and unprofessional. When I was ordering by the window, my wife sat down to wait for me in one chairs outside. Unfortunately, while my wife was waiting, Ramona approached her in a really unprofessional way and told her that she needed to move as those chairs are only for customers who are eating in the restaurant. I understand that the restaurant has rules for the chairs located outside; nevertheless, employees must learn how to communicate properly to customers. This is one of my favorites place to eat in Hialeah. The food is really good but lately their service has went down. I order over the phone to go pick up a large chicken soup as I was sick and they have a tasty one. I pick it up put in a bowl and to my surprise there was No chicken on it. I have been visiting this Latin Cafe for over 15 years! This place has evolved but still keeps its excellent service rating of 5 STARS! The food is great, the servers are extremely professional and courteous, the prices are just right and still remain very competitive even in when everyone else's rates have increased and did I say the service is GREAT?! =) I love that they have continuously updated the inside of the building as the years have passed and it hasn't affected the pricing much at all, if any.
