Laundry was one of the better restaurants Steamboat had to offer. The decor was upscale and quirky. We were seated with no delay when the restaurant opened for dinner, but it did fill up fast. We visited during Mud Season, so I would recommend a reservation any other time. Service, food, and drinks were great. I had the chef's menu and enjoyed each course (the brussels sprout hash was my favorite). The only complaint I have is from the Kids' Menu. My 5 and 9 year old ordered Mac n Cheese, which was clearly Kraft Macaroni. For an upscale restaurant I expected something a little more refined. Totally lives up to the hype! When we planned our trip up to Steamboat and asked for recommendations and everyone said come here. We'll, it didn't disappoint. We were wary for our reservation so we grabbed a seat at the bar. Ivan was our bartender and he was fantastic! He gave some great recommendations and described many of the drinks. I loved all the different alcohol infusions that lined the the shelves around the bar. We ordered the artichokes and they were pretty tasty, although I felt like the layer of tempura took away from the flavor a bit. We were promptly seated and Heather greeted us. She gave us plenty of time to decide on our meal and we landed on the chef's choice and were very pleased. Here's my breakdown- The cure and cheese- pretty tasty as a starter, however we were bummed when we saw the table next to us had nearly twice the amount of meat and crackers than ours did so there's a lack of consistency there. The mustard was the standout on this board, wow!! The pow pow was good, I would have liked to have had a more generous serving of ginger because the combo of the ginger, the shrimp and the sesame powder was perfect! The Bibb salad was lovely and crisp. The crispy potatoes will blow your mind!! I recommend to get these with any meal, this was one of the best things I ate the entire trip. These are spectacular. Lamb roast- this was perfect; tender and tasty, the polenta was perfect too. If I came back, I would skip the artichoke, pow pow and I'd consider skipping the cure and cheese, but that mustard was worth it. Heather recommended a great wine with my meal. Food and service was very good. What was so disappointing was being seated in the back of the breakfast restaurant next door all by ourselves, which I suppose they do to increase capacity and revenue. We did make a reservation far in advance, so it wasn't a walk in type situation. While the rest of the patrons enjoyed the curated atmosphere of the laundry restaurant we felt very isolated, it was cold in there, different music, no ambiance, smelled like breakfast coffee etc, etc. A big part of the experience of dining out, especially at a nicer restaurant, is the atmosphere and this was a big miss. Whoa whoa whoa We spent a long time trying to figure out where to head for sans children apres ski dinner. Ultimately decided on Laundry, despite not wanting small plates. Sat at the bar, made it just in time as swarms of people kept coming. Our bartender tells us about the bourbon flavor of the evening, blueberry, and delink special. They have tequila and bourbon soaking in a variety of flavors atop the bar, lemon tequila, oranges and peppers soaking in liquor. Glass of wine and debate on what small, really large plate to split. We go with pork cheek, stuff your own boa buns! Homemade kimchi, and spicy jalapeños. Next up venison bites, little chunks of steak, micro greens and butternut squash purée. How about a vegetable- I rarely see artichoke hearts so we ordered. It came with 3 crispy , light coating covering the soft, tender heart. Flavors were perfect. Dessert chocolate peanut butter delight! Flourless chocolate cake, with peanut butter mouse and whipped cream. Salted sprinkled candied peanuts with a Zinfandel port. very underwhelmed. we were excited to try this restaurant because we heard such good things. we got seated in the back and ambience was not as nice as the main area. the food was very subpar. We ordered the hash which was a recommended item and the flavors were so overpowering and did not balance well. the second item we got was the bison. for a main dish the bison was extremely small and so so. the last dish was pork cheek with biscuits. we had 3 small pork cheeks paired with 4 giant biscuits. the biscuits were very oily and not fresh at all. very disappointed. read more

We had the shrimp pow-pow which was paired with the freshest pickled ginger I've had -made from scratch and sesame powder. The flavor was incredible and one of a kind. The shaved brussel sprouts had beef and bacon bits, mixed with goat cheese and topped with crispy fried onion. The blend of ingredients was the perfect mix - you have to take your time with each bite to give your senses time to process the flavors. We also had the beef brisket started with local sour dough toast topped with tender brisket and a sunny-side up egg with a cheese cream sauce - the brisket was pretty fatty but flavors were still pretty good. Finally had the truffle potatoes with incredible pesto sauce. All these dishes are a one of a kind experience. You can order small plates or larger orders - family style. For two people we ordered five small plates and were full. Portions for small plates vary some are appetizer size and others like the brussel sprout I would consider a regular meal size. Dessert menu changes we had the espresso affogato. Local Big Iron coffee served as drip (it was good with Almond creamer) and Lavazza for espresso drinks. Ryan was our server he was very polite, gave great local tips and went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. The vibe of this place is my jam for sure - sorta hipster with a touch of refinement but still mountain town casual. Also you can tell that the staff here is REALLY proud of the food made here and they should be - its very good. Minus one star for being a little pricey and I personally was not a fan of their BELOVED Brussels sprouts due to the mustard addition (that wasn't noted in the menu) However it was nice to share some plates with my friend and try some new things. This place is designed to be family style so we ordered a bunch of small plates. Unfortunately I can't remember everything we got but I do recommend the pork belly and the hash. Our second year returning to Steamboat and Laundry was on our list just to see if it was as good as we thought it was last year. The answer is YES! We had the Chef's menu- five courses and all were outstanding. My personal favorite was the first course. Smoked pork belly, pimento cheese, picked onions and spicy peanuts on a lettuce wrap. OMG. The other courses were phenomenal and unique- compressed melon? I had to look up how they did that but I have never had melon that tasted that good. Yum. My only suggestions for improvement would be to clear the table and place fresh plates and forks between courses. I had to ask for a clean plate. Also, this is a personal preference, the courses came so quickly- once I asked for a little space between them they were fine but the service was too fast for my personal preference. From the minute we arrived we were welcomed and seated right away. It was explained to us that this was a shared plate restaurant so after lookin g over the menu we chose the Southern Fried Avocado tacos from the happy hour menu and the Panzanela salad and the Crispy Potatoes from the small plate menu. I can't believe the only picture I took is of the can of the drink I ordered - I am shaking my head in shame! I think it's because I was just to darn busy enjoying every blissful bite. Yes it is that good! If I had known I would have made multiple dinner reservations here during are trip. We only had the charcuterie and 3 small plates - and I say only when because there was so much more to be had, but it was so filling. The charcuterie- duck prosciutto and wagyu bresaola with the rotating cheese selection that happened to be Gouda. All of it was delish but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that star was the peach and stone ground mustards! You put either of those with a combo of meat and cheese or individually and your taste buds are doing a happy dance. The artichoke hearts, Pow pow, and beef brisket were are small plates. Three giant artichoke hearts came out battered and fried large enough that we split each one. The brisket was tender, not fatty at all and with the fresh bread to absorb the sunny side egg made it decedent and very rich. The Pow pow is like a classed up bang bang shrimp and soooooo much better. Service was great and no matter who I spoke with everyone was helpful and friendly. I recommended this restaurant to everyone I spoke with locals and fellow tourists - they had either already been and agreed with how good it is or had heard about it and were trying to get reservations - I think that speaks volumes. read more

Wow! We ate at Laundry last year and loved the food, ambiance and overall dining experience. This year we brought our kids and the food again did not disappoint. The crispy shrimp and pork biscuits were outstanding. The quality of the food is top notch. Oh, and they infuse their own vodkas here too-I got the plum infused mule, which was delicious. Ellie was our server and she was warm, helpful and attentive. The only criticism I'd give this place is for their kids Mac n cheese, which my kids thought was Kraft. We lucked upon a last minute reservation for my husband and 2 boys. Food was incredibly flavorful with several options for me as a vegetable loving protein eater. I rarely eat red meat and this dining experience was a more than worthy exception. The brisket potatoes for happy hour - succulent, savory, and hits the spot! Hubs had the brisket tacos for HH - he's also rarely eats red meat he loved it! I had the beef carpaccio - divine - with the aioli on the side (didn't need it). They have an unwritten kids menu (surprise! ) - i turned away and enjoyed my delicious bourbon cocktail (and yes I always ask if they have a king cube - otherwise I wouldn't order it) while they had a hot dog and chicken strips Dessert - save room! I had the pot de creme and the boys shared the apple cobbler with a generous serving of vanilla gelato (we usually ask for an extra scoop but unnecessary here!). Both delicious but the apple crumble is the chef's grandmother's recipe. The shortbread was something special! Service was incredibly prompt and our questions were answered so thoughtfully. I didn't catch our server's name as it was hard to hear sometimes - but totally ok with me because it blended in with the volume from my boys! There's reason this spot is #1. We were excited to visit Laundry again; this time to celebrate a birthday. This place has the reputation for being one of the best restaurants in Colorado, and certainly the area. We love the history of the building and the ambiance of the restaurant. Unfortunately, in terms of food and service we were let down on this latest visit. The hostess was on the phone when we arrived and completely ignored us until she was finished, which took a while. We were then seated at a table with the sun streaming in, so a server lowered the blinds, but the hostess soon returned and opened them again, without asking us our preference. Our table server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu, but there are very few vegetarian or gluten free options. Left with few choices, we tried the shoestring fries (sans the duck fat powder, obviously), but they were unexpectedly and inedibly sweet. The "pavlova mess" was more mess than pavlova, to anyone who's ever tried the original dessert. Laundry: I've read other reviews here, and your guests are asking for more vegetarian and GF dishes. Please listen to us! I hope you create a more inclusive menu and also add allergen information to your menu. If you do, we'd love to give you another chance. read more

Based on the menu and prices you'd think it's super upscale - the quality and food is, as is the service, but I felt comfortable not dressing up and the rest of the clientele was also casual. My group of 6 tried a lot of the menu. And everything I could try was fabulous. My main reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that while there are some vegetarian options, most items contain meat. I'd have liked to have more variety. This place is best done tapas style - for 6 of us we shared 9 small plates and one large plate, and plates come out as the kitchen prepares them. It was a good mixture and came out to a reasonable price with all of us being sufficiently full! Veggie items I tried: - Pimento cheese - yum! Pickled Fresno added a kick. - Buratta - one of my favorites - pesto? Pickled mango? Fresh bread? Yes please - crispy potatoes - divine! A must here - fried eggplant - split between 2 of us, and it was so flavorful! I'm a sucker for white beans, so if you combine that with fried anything and roasted tomatoes you have a winner. When looking for a restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday during a girl's trip to Steamboat, The Laundry was constantly at the top of the list. Because of Covid, we were looking for a restaurant that had an outdoor patio. We were able to get outdoor seating, but it was on the front sidewalk. Luckily,it being autumn in Steamboat Springs, the view wasn't half bad with the leaves changing colors, and the side road did not have much car traffic, so no major complaints there. Overall, those service was a good, and this place does have a nice atmosphere. We each got a cocktail and shared several of the small plates. As a vegetarian, however, this is not a place I would return because the already small menu, had very few dishes that I could eat. All of the large plates included meat, so I ended up eating some artichokes, and the brussel sprouts with no bacon. I did inquire about any modifications that could be done to the normal crab taco (possibly subbing avocado), but was told that was not possible. I would recommend this place moreso for appetizers and happy hour, but this was not a suitable choice for me personally for dinner. read more

It was so good we ate there again a week later. We were not disappointed. The food is amazing. I love the casual vibe and the down to earth hospitality of all the employees. Everyone was super friendly and down to earth. No pretension here. I love a place where I can get 5 star food without the 5 star pretense. I don't like dressing up and it's nice to find a place where I can not feel underdressed in jeans snd still enjoy 5 star food. The food was amazing. We will be coming here on a regular basis from now on. Lots of local ingredients. I appreciate that they have some well thought out non alcoholic beverages. My only complaint - the dessert menu. It seems like a bit of an afterthought. We got dessert our first time here and while it was good, we were not blown away by it like we were all the food items.
