The last four years "Tiger" was diabetic having to use insulin and tested twice a day to keep his blood sugar in check. Everyone was so kind with helping us get this procedure completed correctly. Through several major surgeries and normal visits to the vet we always knew he would receive the best care around. We boarded "Tiger" once a year while we were out of state. As loving as he was the technicians always enjoyed taking care of him until we returned. The past several months "Tiger" had become confused in where he was and would cry when he walked. His appetite diminished and he slept most of the day. Sadly, on January 19, 2026 we decided to let our loving friend go in peace. Doctor Charlie let me hold my loving "Tiger" in my arms as he administrated the last shot. "Tiger" is gone but we now have the kind memories of him and all the wonderful care he received at the Animal Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Thank you for all your care, Marshall and Sharon Long

Dr. Rafael Cartelli,…read more I am finally posting this and I am writing to express my deep disappointment in the care and treatment my pet and I received at your establishment, particularly from Dr. Cartelli and certain members of your staff. This past July, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my dog to sleep. When I brought him in to be evaluated on 6/23/2025, I was still undecided and hoping for some professional and compassionate guidance. Unfortunately, Dr. Cartelli did not even examine my dog--he didn't touch him or observe him walking, despite my offer. He only asked a few basic questions and did not go through the full Quality of Life checklist with me, even though he knew I was struggling with the decision. I had to ask for blood work myself, and the entire appointment lasted under 15 minutes. I was still charged $86, which I paid and would gladly have paid for a more thorough consultation. Cost was never a concern for my family, and I would have paid for a full Quality of Life evaluation if it had been offered and if I had known this examination was provided. Thank goodness for another animal hospital and the at-home vet who provided the support and tools I needed--such as the Quality-of-Life checklist--to help me make the right decision. The at home vet showed empathy, compassion and even hugged me afterward, and helped make my dog's final moments peaceful. I am thankful Luke transitioned peacefully at home with family. It is incredibly hurtful to be treated as though my dog--and my grief--didn't matter. I know Luke was not friendly like our other dog was, as Luke was a very nervous dog, however, this is unacceptable! Please treat all of the pets and owners that walk through that door with equal care and respect! I also wanted to say Thank you to whomever sent the card to us after Lukes passing, as I truly thought we would receive nothing, due to how we were treated in the past to be honest. Additionally, I've had negative experiences with some of your staff, particularly Jennifer. She was dismissive and seemed to be annoyed after I asked if she used the shampoo I sent with my dog for a bath, some yrs ago. Jennifer's attitude and behavior toward both me and my pet changed after that interaction and so did mine. My dog behaved differently after that visit, and though I'll never know what happened, it left me deeply unsettled. Years ago, when we first started coming to your clinic--long before Dr. Cartelli and Dr. Blum--it felt like a welcoming, caring place. Sadly, that changed. My family and I will not be returning, and I cannot and will not recommend your clinic to others, as we have done in the past. It's clear that some clients are treated with warmth and respect, while others are ignored or dismissed. This kind of unequal treatment is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. If your practice is to survive, I urge you to reevaluate how you treat all clients and their pets--with consistency, compassion, and professionalism, as on behalf of myself and family we never were disrespectful to any of you. I even let Joe know of the Google review I had written and promised I would take it down and I did, as I believe in 2nd chances. I also informed her about the tech Jennifer's attitude toward Luke and me. It is very unfortunate, as nothing changed! Please do better, if you want this establishment to thrive and stay open and once again, treat everyone and their pet that comes through your doors with equal Care and Respect! Heartbroken Ex Client Luke July 5th 2025

I scheduled grooming appointments for my three schnauzers two weeks in advance. When I called, I…read moreexplained that I needed appointments for all three dogs, and the woman on the phone specifically told me that they could all be scheduled at 8:30 AM on the same day. On the day of the appointment, I arrived on time, but the groomer who met me acted as if my presence--and my dogs--were an inconvenience. She immediately questioned why I brought all three dogs, even though that was exactly what I had been instructed to do. She handed me paperwork to fill out and then walked away without any explanation. The front desk staff was extremely rude as well. After I filled out the forms, they scolded me for not knowing certain information--even though I had already brought in all of my dogs' records two weeks earlier when I made the appointments. I apologized and explained that I'm new to the area, but the front desk dismissed me and said, "Well, they told me to do this. I have no clue," instead of helping or clarifying anything. What makes this especially frustrating is that, because the office is so close to my home, I had already scheduled three separate upcoming vet appointments--one dog at a time--to establish care. I did this to make things easier for the vet, since I understand handling three dogs at once can be a lot. I even explained that I have a baby with me all the time, so I'm perfectly willing to schedule individually when needed. Yet for grooming, I was specifically instructed to bring all three dogs at 8:30 AM. I followed their directions exactly, and instead of being treated with understanding, I was shamed and verbally reprimanded. The groomer actually said, "How dare you bring three dogs at the same time," and the front desk told me the appointments were at different times--as if this was somehow my mistake. I have never been scolded as an adult the way I was in this office. Then things became even more unacceptable. After they took my dogs to the back, I asked for them to please bring my dogs back to me. The groomer refused and said she needed to get the manager first. I calmly repeated that I wanted my dogs returned. Everyone then disappeared and ignored me. I asked the front desk staff repeatedly--three times--to please bring out my dogs. She finally said she would go get them, then disappeared again. When the groomer eventually came back out, she asked, "Did they get your dogs?" I told her no, I was still waiting. Only then did she bring out my three dogs. This entire experience--from the attitude, to the scolding, to refusing to bring me my own pets--was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely inappropriate. I canceled all upcoming appointments and will not be returning.

I didn't have a long wait and my sick bird was promptly taken care of. The vet clinic is clean and there are several people at the front desk to assist with clients and their pets. The process goes fast, considering they take walk in appointments. This is a large clinic and they have a lot of exam rooms and that's a good thing, since it makes getting in and out much faster. The staff is friendly and helpful and the vet was informative about my bird. The cost is average to above, but considering you don't have to call in and wait days for an appointment, this is a plus. You never know when your animals will get sick and this clinic is much less expensive than an emergency vet clinic. Ask me how I know. I was surprised at some of the reviews, since this clinic seems like a good place to take your pet. They accept pets with fur, feathers and scales, so that just about covers everything. Colonial Animal Hospital was a good find, I have an equine and dog vet and will add them to the mix for my bird.
