I had lost the center stone to my engagement ring - a true heartbreak as I (unfortunately) did not have it insured and it was not a common cut. I was lucky it has lasted 8 years with no issues, but alas, this happened. I asked for recommendations on a local jeweler and Laura's name came up a few times, as well as being incredibly conveniently located (5 minutes from home!). I called for an appointment and scheduling was easy. For my appointment, I came in and was greeted warmly, and then she got to work. I was BLOWN AWAY by her expertise, as well as her catching 2 smaller diamonds on my band and halo missing. I had planned on "shopping around" and getting quotes, but after just 5 minutes, I knew there was no way I would find anything better. Due to the cut of my diamond, she needed to get some different sizes in and I knew this would take some time. When the first batch wasn't right, she had new ones overnighted so I wouldn't have to wait longer. The second batch was beautiful, and I even upgraded my center diamond. Off it was whisked to get fixed and when I got the call it was ready, I wasted absolutely NO TIME getting to the store to pick it up. Upon pickup, I felt like I had just gotten engaged all over again. I could not stop staring at it, and needed my husband to drive home so I could continue staring at it in the sun. It was beautiful work, and I was so pleased with the results. I found that the pricing to replace my diamonds and get my ring fixed was very reasonable compared to my research online, as well as the timeline to have everything taken care of. This is where I went to commission a ring to be made for my fiancé. I am so glad that we chose to get this job done here! The ring itself was absolutely beautiful but I would like to highlight a few particular details that I was especially pleased with concerning the process itself. First off, Laura's communication was superb. She would often update me on the progress of the ring and whenever I would reach out her response was very fast. Second, the ring was completed far sooner than I was expecting which was very much appreciated. Third, she was very meticulous with every detail concerning the actual making of the ring. This includes being very specific in the questions she asked to us to make sure she knew exactly what was wanted and also she was very thorough in explaining all the details about the diamond that we chose in a way that we could understand. We love our jeweler in Chicago, but it's hard to go downtown often, especially for custom jewelry. My husband wanted to get me something nice for our 10 year wedding anniversary. He found Laura Loyd on Google and after reading the reviews I stopped in one day. I met with Laura's husband, who was very kind and friendly. He told me his wife, Laura can help us design a custom necklace and to come back on Thursday at 2 pm. I was very excited that we found a jeweler closer to home and I told my husband that we should just get our wedding rings custom made here (we're upgrading our wedding rings) instead of going downtown Chicago. I came in on the day and time we agreed on, and there were two people in the store. She didn't bother to greet nor look my way. I just figured she was preoccupied with the gentlemen she was helping, so I stood around looking at jewelry. There was one other customer in the store that was seated and waiting to be helped. Once she was done with the gentlemen she halfway walked to me and clearly looked annoyed by my presence. She very rudely said, "I have an appointment right now, can you come back later?" I asked her in how long and told her that I was told by her husband to stop in at this time. She said, "Yeah, well he made a mistake and I need to give this customer at least an hour". I told her I would try to come in on Saturday and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "okay". She didn't bother to take my name/number or give me a time to come in. The entire interaction came across very unprofessional, extremely rude, and lacked customer services skills. I was very disappointed and quite upset by her demeanor. I took a few rings in for repair- my custom-made engagement ring developed a loose stone & with my wedding band, the fine metal was bent substantially (I guess that's what happens when you lift heavy weights, but I never take my rings off). When I got them back, my rings looked as good as new. I actually don't even know if they ever looked that good, even new! Clean, polished, stunning! The gold was radiant & stone was shimmering. What a wonderful little jewelry boutique! I needed to get my engagement ring fixed (the head was bent) Jared quoted over $500 & Laura looked at my ring & told me it would probably be around $100! They took it to their goldsmith who agreed. Jared wanted to replace the head & add some gold to secure pave diamonds on the side. This jeweler was full of promises and inconsistent follow through. I felt like they always wanted to say what I wanted to hear, but couldn't come through in time and on the price they had led me to believe would be a possibility. I was given a rough estimate for a wedding band that was misleadingly low; every date they set for a computer image, wax, and ring pick-up was changed. I would have appreciated the experience more if they had been very honest from the get-go and erred on the more generous side when giving me prices and dates. read more

This jewelry store is a diamond in the rough! I've been to Jared, Kays, Zales, you name it. All of those stores have cookie cutter rings with fancy designer names slapped on them for extreme markup. The fact that I was able to create a truly one of a kind ring with an exceptional diamond for far less that what the name brand stores sell just says something. If the ring I designed from LL Jewelers was sold by Jared, I would have easily paid 30-40% more, easily. Laura and her husband are amazing! They are extremely personable and will teach you everything you need to know about diamonds and engagement rings. For the last two months I have been working with them very closely starting with picking out the perfect diamond, designing the ring, finalizing the design and viewing the wax molding. Laura is also a certified gemologist so she also provides you with an appraisal to provide to the insurance company. I have yet to pick up the ring as it will be done next week but I have so much faith in Laura and her husband I know it will be amazing! It's just so great to know that the ring I will be giving my girlfriend is truly one of a kind and you will not see it anywhere else. I'm a researcher and I do a ton a research before I purchase anything. Going to LL Jewelers was a no brainer for me, they are world ahead of any other jewelry store out there.
