Then I was yelled at simply for using the bathroom to try on clothing. Permission was given to me for this purpose by one volunteer. Then, another volunteer (who followed me around the store) yelled at me, stating it wasn't allowed while pounding on the bathroom door *demanding* I exit *immediately.* The volunteer who gave me permission then lied saying she did NOT give me permission to try on clothes. Good grief! Make sure your communications are clear to all volunteers so customers don't have to be on the receiving end of your wrath, anger issues, and power struggle. What a horrible and degrading experience. I was even thinking of volunteering there but, if these volunteers are representative of the values of the Assistance League, no thank you! I will also be taking my business elsewhere since being followed and yelled at was so unprofessional and disrespectful to a customer who pays money to help their charity. I wish the Assistance League well in helping out the community but perhaps better vetting of volunteers is needed so more customers don't feel shamed for simply shopping and wanting to try on clothing they may want to purchase.

My experience was still poor but give them two stars for trying to improve for others. I scheduled items for donation. A day before my pickup, the confirmation email said I had to have everything on the curb unless prior arrangements had been made with the call center. So I called about noon and left a message saying it was not possible for me to move items to curb. They were on the ground floor bedrooms. I asked for a call back to confirm and didn't receive one. The truck came and the drivers refused to move the items out of the house. I called again and got voicemail again. This time I wanted confirmation that my credit card would not be charged for the failed pickup. I haven't heard back. Obviously, I'm donating another organization

We love shopping at the MHA Thrift Store. They have a ton of DVDs, CDs and puzzles, overflowing…read morethe shelves so much that some are kept in boxes on the floor. Of course they also have the typical thrift store selection of books, toys, household & kitchen items, and clothes. The store entrance faces the rear parking lot behind the building, a bit hard to find on first visit. GPS maps really help here. Look for the MHA cardboard sign inside the corner display window to identify the correct driveway into the parking lot. The atmosphere is rather quiet inside, with very few customers usually, and they don't play music on speakers. It may feel eerie at first, but should become meditative over time. With patience and perseverance, surprising treasures can be found here. Our proudest score is a nearly mint condition original boxed set of Nat King Cole collection vinyl LP albums. Every time we listen to them, we thank whoever had the kind heart to donate them, and thank the store for giving us the opportunity to acquire them. Naturally, we donate to the store as well. We hope our own parted treasures find their way to good homes. Unfortunately, the last 3 times we tried to visit the store, it was closed during normal hours. We suspect the problem is with staffing. We have always only seen one super nice and friendly lady at the counter, so maybe they have a shortage of volunteers to keep the doors open. We really hope the situation will improve soon, because this has been such a wonderful place.

The strength of this thrift store is definitely in clothing. There is no furniture. They have very little artwork. The store is tricky to find it's located behind the mental health clinic. But don't sweat it, they have plenty of parking. The proceeds of the store support the clinic which is a great cause.

From a seller end, I've done well and am super happy about the sales I've received through my closet space. This stuff would be sitting at home otherwise. I feel the seller fees are super reasonable and it's all really organized and such an easy system to get started selling. I reserve 3-4 weeks at at a time because what might not sell 1 week may sell another week so imo, it's really worth it just to try it for a few weeks! $35 is low risk to just try it out. Especially love that their website says if you don't make the $35 fee in sales, they'll cover it. "We believe in the model, and we're invested in making it work for you." That is a business model I can get behind!
