I was in dire need of having a veneer, which had come off, recemented. The loss was in the worst place possible--upper front tooth. Should I open my mouth in any way, a big gapping hole with a little stem sticking out would be the first thing anyone would notice. Laura has been my dentist for the last 10 years. She and her staff are always very friendly and professional. I always feel welcome and they have a calming presence and attitude. Kathy has been my primary hygienist. She always takes the best care of me. I have a family hx of gum disease and thanks,in a large part to Kathy's work and her advice, my gums are the healthiest they have been in over 40 years. I had barely any tartar and plaque on my teeth at my most recent r cleaning!! Dr Strain is a great salesman with pictures, of his work, covering the walls of his waiting room. He created a dental appliance in an attempt to control my sleep apnea. (It didn't.) Then he focused on my "smile" and stated that he could perfect it. I asked how much that would be and his reply was ONLY $40,000. But he was "willing to start" on the upper or lower teeth for a mere $20,000. No wonder he used to be on El Paseo and advertises on T.V. I'm sure he is quite good but, seriously I don't have 40 grand just laying dormant. I'll just stick with my current dentist that doesn't try to upcharge me. read more

I have had such bad luck with my teeth, I have gone to the cheapest dentist hoping it'd be descent and then when I got insurance I went to pretty high end dentist and they were both sooo bad. From different color fillings to ruptured roots I was very discouraged and was constantly in tears When I was 18 years old I had my braces taken off and had my teeth filed until I had ridges and sharp edges on my teeth. I went to Dr. Strain and he gave me the 6 most beautiful teeth through direct bonding. 10 years later I have gone back to Dr. Whittnauer for my porcelain veneers and once again she's given me the smile I never dreamed I would have!!! Both Dr. Strain and Whittnauer have brought me to tears with their beautiful work. They're both such perfectionist and so gentle. Their work is painless and beautiful!!! I am so thankful for them! I am so over paying thousands of dollars for worthless dental work. Yes it took me some time to save for my work but I would do it again and again and wish I would've started with them to begin with. If you appreciate a knowledgeable, skilled dentist-particularly in the area of cosmetic dentistry, although Dr. Strain does it ALL, not just cosmetic, then you have found the right dentist. No need to look further.For me he filled eleven cavities in under 2 hours, minimal pain, barely any in a neglected dental care mouth., I have the lowest pain threshold ever & NO pain after the procedure, more amazing. And he worked with my small mouth opening due to my TMJ & didn't complain, which some dentists abhor & show no mercy. He is simply excellent--wish I had found him sooner than later, as I endured meeting several other dentists, who were less than adequate prior to him, in fact they were brutal & nasty. Dr. Strain is no-nonsense, but also has a funny, quirky, intelligent sense of humor & a GENTLE TOUCH...He is candid, calls you on what created your dental issues (if some of it is your fault) & educates you re how to proceed to mitigate further dental damage.. He studied at UCLA (my alma mater) which is a good educational base, but it's his experience in treating many kinds of dental issues, that was most appealing to me. CALL DR. I found Dr Strain from his TV commercial and I am thankful that I did. I had a dentist that I saw regularly prior to moving to the Desert, however, it wasn't until I saw Dr Strain that he mentioned I was experiencing bone loss with a previous root canal. I went to an Endodontist and he concurred it was problem. I asked for my dental records/x-rays from my previous dentist and sure enough the bone loss had been going on for quite some time unnoticed. Dr Strain's staff is so nice and I feel very comfortable there and that's a good thing because I have a lot of dental work needing done and I feel comfortable I am in good hands and found the perfect dentist for my treatment. read more

I came here to get veneers for my badly chipped teeth and am really happy I chose this dentistry. The staff & dentist are so incredibly nice and the office is very homey and comfortable. Even though I have a lot of problem teeth and eventually need a lot more work done, I really appreciate that they accommodated just the things I wanted to fix right now and didn't try to pressure me into doing more work.
