Hickory 's BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich and Onion Rings
    Samantha C.

This is one interesting place and I dig it! Be prepared to circle around the block for parking (metered parking that is) as this place is right on a main street. Once you find a spot and head towards this BBQ joint upon entering you will head through saloon doors. And that's only the beginning... The novelty of this place makes my heart explode. Jimi Hendrix and other classic rock artist concert posters darn the walls and there are random knock knacks floating around that make you feel like you're at an older relative's home. I make my way to the counter and order my brisket sandwich with a side of onion rings. The person behind the counter is very patient as per usual it takes me forever to make this decision. But the right decision it was! My brisket was some of the most tender and flavorful I have ever had. Their BBQ sauce was more tangy than sweet which is how I like it. All this was placed on a sesame seed bun. Oh and their onion rings, amazing! The batter was flavorful and my rings were fried to perfection. The onion to batter ratio was just right and this was the perfect side to my sandwich.

Best BBQ we've had on LI!! We've been taking out from here for years now, and have never had a bad meal. In fact, They were all delicious. It's such a pleasure to find barbecue that's not slathered in sugar! I want to point out that they do NOT use sugar in a lot of what they serve, making it an option for diabetics. In my house, we have a Type1 diabetic whose blood sugar is stable after eating Hickory's chili, spareribs and coleslaw. What a treat! Plus, their BBQ sauce is very low in sugar. Everything's unbelievably tasty. Highly recommended for everyone!

I'm happy to have checked this little spot off my list! When i walked in i was greeted by a very kind man - seemed like he owned the place. The decor inside is all wood so it really makes you feel like you're on the country side! i ordered a 7 piece bbq wings with fries on the side. The portion was huge and just perfect for me ! The wing were super hot and the bbq was the sweet kind. The fries were thick and perfectly salted. It was fantastic. I would recommend this spot if you're on the area.

I come here a lot time cause it's close. Pretty ok bbq. The issue is the meat is heavy and extremely sauced. Cajun fries are good.

Food was good would recommend this place . The service was fast for a take out joint. Not much of an ambiance since it's take out.

Owned and operated by chef Hugh Goldson, this is some of the best bbq I've had in a long time. I love that it's so close to home for me too! Must order is literally everything on the menu. The brisket was some of the best I've ever had. Unctuous and moist with very little fat on it. It would literally make a bubbe cry for joy and the recipe. The bbq ribs were fall off the bone and smoked to perfection. The show stopper for my picky af mother was the bbq pork belly bites: smoked and then lacquered in chef Hugh's signature bbq sauce and addictive to the very last piece. The on the bone chicken thighs were also lacquered in this elusive luscious bbq sauce and had the most perfect smoke ring as well when you cut into them. Everything was balanced out by his addictive braised southern collard greens, smoked mac n cheese and smoked mashed potatoes. Usually the corn bread is forgettable but not these! Beautifully balanced between sweet and savory in every bite. Chef threw in a tin of his famous smoked cheezits flavored with his signature dry rub seasoning. So happy for this new addition in the area! Delivery had every protocol in place for covid safety and I cannot wait to order again and again! Eat local! Support local!

Lee's Korean Kitchen in Port Washington is a clean little take-out spot right on Haven Street by the train station. The owners are friendly, and the food was to my liking. We ordered 20 wings (10 original and 10 soy garlic), French fries, and coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted really fresh--it wasn't drenched in slaw marinade nor overly sweet. The fries were good, with a nice amount of herbs and not too garlicky. The chicken, though, was obviously my favorite. I enjoyed both the non-sauced and sauced ones. The seasoning was spot on, and the wings were all a decent size. The original ones had a nice coating and were perfectly seasoned. The soy garlic wasn't overly sauced, and because the coating was done right, it still had a crunch to it even after a 12-minute drive. Definitely going to come back and check out some of their other dishes.

But I've never ever encountered what I got from Tiga... even from far cheaper restaurants. Last year, I ordered 3 special rolls and excitedly picked them up. When I opened the package later, it appeared that they decided to squish all 3 of our rolls into one single plastic takeout container. So instead of each of us being able to enjoy the roll that we chose, we had to "share", dig from one container, with no other plates to use. Not only that, they squished the rolls so tightly together that the rice of the 3 rolls got stuck together, and the sauces of got mixed up. So as we tried to get our own rolls out to eat, it soon became like one container of fried rice - except it wasn't fried - just a mess of rice with toppings. For rolls that cost $20+ each, don't you think that each of the 3 of us deserved our own container to eat from? We were 3 colleagues who did not wish to eat out of one single bowl. I'm flabbergasted by Tiga.
