Super cute candy shop. The parking lot is a bit pot holey, prices seem reasonable. The afternoon I visited it was very warm inside and felt like there was little air flow. Very clean inside. I was greeted when I walked in but not given much room to ask questions. If I happen to be in the area again, I might visit again. read more

Excellent customer service. Excellent quality and selections of candy & ice cream. Easy & safe parking. Convenient location. Open with high seatings and seating makes this place feel like an old fashioned ice cream shoppe. The ready-packed ice cream is delicious. I was looking for peach ice cream but none available. I "settled" for a few pints for home freezer and a brownie, some really nice fudge and a heavenly-hash square. This place has cookies that are superior to those crumbl things. They have Roman candy, cookies, fudge, chocolates, and chocolate covered pretzels etc. Everything is on display, and the only interaction would be if you needed something in the case. They have multiple people at the ready. They have the classic New Orleans staples: Roman candy, pralines, and many others. Definitely a cool place. This really is a great candy and ice cream store! This location is the newest of Laura's Candies which has been in business since 1913 and they have two other locations in the French Quarter. This new location in Metairie is now their production facility and has also added an ice cream parlor. They really have a fantastic selection and do a lot of great seasonal/holiday items along with a lot of great New Orleans and Louisiana themed scrumptious candy treats. Their chocolate truffles are the absolute most AMAZING I have ever had anywhere with intense bold flavors that really stand out from any other chocolates I've ever tried anywhere else in the world. They have some really great Louisiana and New Orleans themed gifts that should make most folks pretty happy not to mention they are also delicious but some are so pretty you almost feel bad about eating them. Overall you are wasting time if you haven't visited here yet so hurry up and start enjoying life more through the AMAZING chocolate and other treats here!!! Came in after I saw their website and walked around for about 10 minutes. Nice assortment and the store was very clean and organized. Went by the ice cream but nobody was over there to scoop so we walked by the candy, I asked where the Mississippi mud bark was and she looked a little confused. She pointed to where it was and walked away so we stood there for about 5 minutes waiting to get someone's attention to ask for something behind the counter and check out. I was hoping there was a sample of the Mississippi mud as the website stated there was and I've never had it. But I bought some to try, it was ok. This place was pretty expensive but it's locally owned so that's to be expected. read more

I am so glad Laura's candies is so close to my house! The original is in the french quarter and this location opened about 6 weeks ago and I've been twice already. They have so many different types of fudge, pralines, chocolates and even Hershey ice cream! The last time we went we ordered two hershey shakes. My god! I didnt know how beautiful the presentation would be. I ordered the brownie shake and a giant brownie garnished the glass. The hobby ordered a birthday cake shake and his was garnoshes with a slice of cake! Everyone has been so friendly here and they have hand sanitizer and masks on the table if you happened to forget yours. The whole shop is so pretty and fun. When you walk inside, you just have to smile. I am very happy for the new addition to Metairie that is very lacking in fun drawer places. read more

We love Laura's! It's a super cute place with an old-fashioned ice cream shop feel. They have seating inside so couples or families can enjoy their treats. Most of the time we go for their ice cream: cups, cones (sugar, waffle, cake), and banana splits etc! They are all delicious and made fresh right in front of you. But another reason to go to Laura's is they have SO many New Orleans styled and flavored gifts! The treats are made right there in the store, so you know they are fresh!! Gift treats of old fashioned taffy candies, fudge, brownies, etc...(too much to mention) to all the traditional Easter, Christmas, Mother's & Father's Day gifts. They also have Sugar-free varieties of many of their candies and chocolates (also made fresh-there!). We also like to check out their Non-food gifts that are all locally themed; Cookbooks and decor. So, I used to LOVE coming here to get malts. They USED to have the best malt shop in town, and now since rules have changed, I'm really unhappy. I used always get a coffee ice cream and chocolate extreme malt, now, you're not allowed to mix flavors and make whatever malts you want because from what the boss says they "don't want people making nasty flavors and blaming it on Laura's." However, you can still mix different scoops of ice cream in a cup and mix it, which is honestly the same thing! I don't like companies restricting choice for some but not for others! It's ridiculous. If the customer makes a nasty drink, that's on them. I want the malt flavors I want. read more

We have come here twice for special occasions. They are a cute little candy and ice cream shop in our area. We stopped in the day before Valentine's to get ice creams to go and a few chocolates. One side of the store is the ice cream counter where they offer ice creams, soft serves, shakes, malts, even frozen bananas. The rest of the store is all kinds of candies and chocolates, etc. Definitely a good place to go if you need a sweet gift with local flare to it. They have lots of NOLA-themed items. They seem to be open everyday and as their sign notes from 10am to 9pm. The staff is very friendly. I'm sure we will be back again for another special day. read more

Great local gem. The staff always friendly and the candy and ice cream always perfect. The store is set up much like the others but this one has the ice cream and a few places to be seated. If you don't want to fight downtown this is the perfect spot. And as always the pralines are the best. read more

Talk about a dream candy land. Woah to the wow! This place is the dream for a sweet tooth person. We tried the ice cream and chocolate covered oreos. Fantastic service, great people working there. We are happy to have a New Orleans candy store closer to home. read more

I have visited here twice in the last month. The candy fantastic, the ice cream mediocre, the customer service atrocious. The first time I went with my son (3 years old) the lady yelled at my son for leaning against the glass looking at the candy. The second time I went the guy behind the ice cream bar yelled at my son for propping the front door open too long waiting for my wife. (This was after he got snappy at me when ordering my ice cream) I literally brought a "kid to a candy store." They should learn to expect kids to be excited. It's ok, I won't be back. read more

When I mov d to New Orleans in the early 90's, Laura's Candies was a very historic place to visit. I was in heaven just walking through the store, then on the corner of Charters and Conti. It was like being in a candy museum. Beautiful old curved glass and oak cases featured scrumptious handmade candies of all kinds. It was a wonderland of chocolate, candied fruit, original pralines filled with pecans. Old apothecary jars displayed beautiful, hand dipped truffles, chocolate covered nuts, crystallized orange peel and more. I was so impressed with this wonderland, that I made and offer to buy the shop and continue the age old tradition of offering these artisan delights. After some time, my offer was accepted and I was the proud owner of Laura's Candies, until hurricane Katrina, when I sold the shop and moved back to Fairhope, AL. It's still my first stop on a visit back to New Orleans French Quarter. Although the look of the shop has changed, they still offer fabulous candies. read more
