Great service, great and fresh tasting food. There used to be another dinner right across the street that we went to whenever we were in the area that was closed. This was better than that diner. I ordered a garden omelette that came with toast and home fries with a vanilla milkshake. My parents got turkey clubs. We all drank milkshakes. Everything was great here. read more

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the area. You have to get in early on the weekends or else it's a mad house so make sure you get there early to beat the rush. Try the Elvis pancakes. This is basically the only diner in town. I go there often but yesterday I had lunch. I ordered pastrami on rye which I have had many times and was quite good. But yesterday the pastrami was like cardboard. It tastes Like it was already cooked and they heated it in the microwave. It was dry and chewy. It had no taste at all. And to top it off the bread was stale. After a few bites the bread fell apart and it was so dry I was unable to eat the rest. I told the waitress and her response was " I'll let the kitchen know. Not an offer of something else or to take it off my bill. I was very disappointed and may have to start leaving Long Beach go find a new diner. So I went back to the laurel diner today and had breakfast. Eggs were great and bacon cooked perfect. Bread was buttered and good came quickly. My last review was not too good based on some issues I had. The manger suggested coming back and give them another try. I did and it was worth it. Remodeled a couple of years ago, the Laurel Luncheonette became the Laurel Diner and the neighborhood lunch spot has joined the Long Island Diner ranks. Six buck burgers are now $14 burgers, four times the size and smothered in extras. The neighborly feel has been replaced with a noisy Horn and Hardart ambiance that's vibrant, if you want to be nice, and fun if you don't already have a headache. But people visit diners for the food, and here's what keeps the locals lining up at the Laurel's doorstep. The brothers who run this place really love their craft and it shows. They don't cut a corner with anything. If you want good food and lots of it, you'll find it here. You truly can't say that about many places on Long Island and certainly no others in Long Beach. The help is top notch, from a legion of experienced waiters and waitresses to the kitchen help to the busboys; many of them have been here for decades. The Laurel has been their life as it has been for their customers. Personally, I miss the old Laurels. Dropping $48 for lunch for two while eating elbow to elbow with a guy who feeds like a prisoner isn't my style, but it is what it is and it doesn't try to be what it's not. This has long been a staple for our Long Beach visits. The breakfasts are hearty and wholesome. The lunches affordable and tasty. The 'blue plate special" dinners live up to their reputation. Been there so many times we've lost count. Unfortunately, at our most recent visit, we got an omelet and potatoes plate that was so salty it was inedible. Others in our group said theirs was okay and finished, but complained quietly about the salt later. I had banana pancakes, which were terrific. We will absolutely return, but the next time, we will order items that simply cannot contain too much salt. read more

Enjoyed this family run diner for a traditional breakfast. Filled with a local crowd of regulars, our waitress told us she had been passing through and has worked there for 35 years. The diner is well-lit, decorated in a fifties style and very clean, with efficient service. My husband tried the grits and a Denver omelette while I had Eggs Benedict with spinach. All our food was good. The staff were accommodating, honoring small requests such as serving the Benedict sauce on the side. We'd definitely return. read more

The Laurel Diner is tops in quality food and service. Their breakfast special of sausages, eggs and home fries is my favorite. My top choices for dinner include their Souvlaki platter, which includes a delicious Greek salad. I also love their grilled pork chops. Their wide choice of special burger meals are also great. Free refills on sodas. The owners, Andrew and Peter are both excellent people and they run a first class operation as well as being very compliant with Covid 19 rules. I was going to make this place my regular as I'm spending more time in Long Beach.... average diner food but great selection of newspapers and good streams of fox and CNBC. PITY about the unfriendly waitress, unsmiling and giving me "attitude". Then when I left a 15% tip she came out to harass me about it. Went to talk to the manager. No, they're not there. I was pleasant and quiet and the diner wasn't full. Sorry I only had the omelette and coffee instead of the Duck and Champagne for a table of four. Well it worked; I went back and left a 26% tip and she still wouldn't make peace. What's with the sullen attitude??? Don't worry, I won't come back ever again! And I'll tell my Long Beach people. i always enjoy the breakfast with my family but today 8/20/22 seems like Billy the waiter do not wants to take care of us he took more than 20 minutes to bring us the menu and after we order he was taking care other customer who just got there after us i call him and he answer with a bad attitude deliver my food and never come back to ask how we doing even he forgot my white toast after finish he went to my table and i told him about my white toast he didn't said a word I just ask for my check and get out there sorry is a great place but today wasn't the best for my family I know the owners they are great persons but sadly they weren't at the dinner today I coming back with my family but sure i will choice my waiter i give them 2 stars just for what happens read more

If you're looking for old fashioned, charming, cozy and regular dishes along with some creative ones, this is the place to go! I went during the week for lunch. Decided to get eggs benedict. Eggs were real runny so be ready! Taste was very good, only thing was it was a lot of bacon, but that's not necessarily a bad thing :-) The service was fine, no problems. Everyone hospitable. Coffee good, prices very normal. Overall I give an 8 out of 10. They are undergoing renovations from Christmas thru January, so come by in February if you're interested. read more

Laurel Diner is delish! when it gets busy we usually sit at the counter. We ate out a lot, this is one of our favorite places. The food is great and priced very reasonable. I usually get the chicken soup and the prasini salad with grilled salmon and my husband gets the godfather hero. When we get breakfast I get the peanut butter french toast and my husband gets pancakes with 2 over-easy eggs. Free soda and coffee refills. What a great find! Ahi tuna sandwich was well cooked, balanced flavors w blt avocado- very filling, cowboy burger was well seasoned, waffles fries were crispy and plentiful. The stuffed french toast was amazing and hit the spot and will surely provide a good breakfast for tomorrow as well. The mud pie was choc choc fudgey , expect it to be as rich as expected. Good tasting coffee medium blend. Only complaint is that the onion rings were more like crispy flakes. My Delivery order is wrong almost every time I order from them. Prices are ridiculously high on some items, example ice tea $3.55 for 20 oz cup, $5.40 for French onion soup$4.35 for all other soups. $13 for a burger, bagel with cream cheese $3.50 and a little extra cream cheese they want to charge you $5.50, totally crazy!!! It's not my favorite diner in the world and it could be a bit pricey. It's great for breakfast and good for lunch and dinner. As an adult it's not one of my favorite places to go but kids love it. They have awesome smoothies and the service is excellent. It's great for gatherings with friends or family. It can be a bit busy sometimes but generally I have a reasonable wait time. What happened to this place? Used to be our go to if we were out late - always consistently good - not great but good. Called in an order to pickup and the food sucked. Bread on the club sandwich was not just burned - it was charred - the smell of the burned toast was a total turn off. Grilled cheese sandwich was greasy and limp. Asked for extra pickles and they gave us 5 little cups of mediocre cole slaw with a tiny pickle in a little bag. One of the pickles appeared to have a bite out of it. They gave us loads of catsup packets - why? For a turkey club? So over $20 for 2 sandwiches that ended up in the garbage. These things happen but the way they handle their mistakes is poor. I was overcharged for my burger and my soup was missing from my bag. This place is really nice food-wise but the service we got wasn't the best. The waiter we had seemed to be new to waiting tables and he harder paid attention to us. We finished eating and sat waiting for 5 minutes and decided to get up and leave. He saw me at the register and came over really quick to give us our bill. He also messed up one of my orders, which was a big bummer because it was a to-go. Unfortunately I can't remember his name. People are really nice there but the decor in the place is awful.
