My husband and I popped into Lido's for lunch and WOW -- the food came to play. First of all, the complimentary pickles? Elite. But the real star of the opening act was the coleslaw. I am not a coleslaw person (like... ever), but this one changed me. The veggies were crisp, the dressing was perfectly balanced -- not too sweet, not too heavy -- and honestly, I could eat a tub of it and not get tired. Character development unlocked. We decided to share the Heartburn Wrap, which was definitely big enough for two. Minor user error on my part -- I thought it came with pastrami and hot peppers, but apparently I ordered it wrong. That one's on me, and trust and believe I'm running it back next time the correct way. We also shared the matzo ball soup and let me tell you... it tasted like somebody's bubbe made it with love and a little bit of magic. Straight up warm hug in a bowl. Service-wise, our server wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy -- but honestly, I didn't come here to make friends. I came to eat, and on that front, Lido's absolutely delivered. The minute I sat down I was given a plate of two HUGE pickles... one sour- the other - whatever you would call it - with a dish of the most scrumptious homemade coleslaw. I consumed it all. The food here is in a word fantastic. I looked around at what people were eating- incredible overstuffed sandwiches, onion rings like you've never seen- I opted for the stuffed cabbage entree-it came with a cup of soup- my choice was mushroom barley, and two sides. I chose the kasha varnishkas and some egg noodle thing... and of course I had to have a Dr Brown's Black Cherry. Since The Carnegie Deli there has never been a more authentic Jewish deli. The waiters were wonderful all with distinct personalities... I must come back for brunch. I'm fantasizing about latkes and Apple sauce now. Or maybe a lox and onion omelette? This place is special. The Lido kosher deli is a Long Beach staple. They serve food that is kosher paerve so if you are dairy free like me, this place is heaven. I got a bowl of matzo ball soup and split a sandwich with my mother. That along with the all you can eat kosher dill pickles filled me up nice and good. Two things to keep in mind though. In the winter, there is a really cold draft so be sure to dress warm if you were eating in. Also, the parking isn't great, but there is a lot across the street. read more

I don't know what u can say other than thank goodness this place still exists. Long islands favorite kosher delis have become few and far between but this spot is elite. Maybe the best corned beef sandwich I've ever eaten. So flavorful is barely needed mustard. Perfect club roll. Their matzoh ball soup is good, I've had better but it is good. Good split pea soup too. We just ate at the best deli that we've passed for years, but never went to. When you first walk in, it's a store with a deli counter. Off to the right is a dining room with brick - very rustic. As soon as we chose our seats, we were asked if we wanted anything to drink. Hubby had a beer and I had my usual water with lemon. I really wanted a Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda, but I knew it would fill me up. It took us awhile to decide what we wanted, but our waiter, Elvin, was patient and smiling the whole time. We ordered a lot and it was so worth it. They automatically bring you the best cole slaw and pickles. Sooo good! Hubby ordered their special pastrami and corned beef. I've never like that, but hubby really did. I got a sandwich with rare roast beef and real roasted turkey. We got extra rye bread to make multiple sandwiches. We also got an order of mini latkes which were the best I ever had - Crunchy with applesauce on the side. We each had one. Then (we did not order what seems to be half the menu) we ordered stuffed derma which had 2 pieces about 3" high with the best gravy. Between us, we finished one. We had so many leftovers - just as I like it, yet we ordered mini stuffed cabbage - an order is 12! - to bring home along with extra cole Slaw, pickles, gravy for the derma and the stuffed cabbage. 2 full shopping bags! After eating lots of things on their extensive menu, I always revert back to corned beef and pastrami. They are the real deal and the reason to eat at a kosher deli. Good to have tried a landmark deli in Long Beach. Was easy to find street parking on a Sunday, but had a short wait to get seated inside (seemed like a locals spot). Quite easy going relaxed kind of place in a leisurely quiet area too. Got super deluxe and the sandwich that made us famous. - Sandwich that made us famous = delicious pastrami and corned beef (corned beef was not salty like at some places). I think this is a great choice for first timer like us. - Super deluxe = same with cole slaw and russian dressing. I love russian dressing and cole slaw in pastrami sando's, so was most excited about this. The meats were delicious of course, but I couldn't really taste much russian dressing at all, so no real added flavor to getting this over regular... Also, did not realize cole slaw is served on the table and it was the same thing in this sando. The cole slaw is refreshing and great as more of a salad to chow on by itself, but didn't seem to add the flavors you expect of slaw in pastrami sando. So there was no real benefit to getting this named sandwich, in my book. No doubt the meats are great, so I think next time I would just go for fully packed pastrami on rye. Squeeze some mustard on it, and chow on the table cole slaw for greens and palate cleansing. There were so many other things on the menu, so it seems like a place where you can go again and again. Just Yum!! Up from NC and missing a good old Jewish Kosher Deli. My friend and I went to Lido's in Long Beach, Long Island. Pickles and Cole slaw to start. I can't get Cole slaw I like in NC unless I make it myself. Lido's was delicious along with their sour dill and half and half pickles. Then came the biggest, fluffiest matzah ball in chicken soup that was scrumptious. Next a lean corn beef sandwich which I smothered in mustard. Some of the food here is absolutely crushing it and some of it is a real miss. I think the star of the show is their pastrami, it's the most tender, flavorful, melt in your mouth pastrami I've ever had. Would come back for this alone. One of the sleepers is the sliced beef tongue, which is also insanely tender and flavorful. The staff will give you a bit of a wink and a nod if you order it because they know you're legit and most people would skip it. However, the corned beef is mid at best, kinda try and not that flavorful and the brisket was godawful dried out and not good in any way. I don't know how a place can make such amazing pastrami and have such awful brisket. Anyway, do with that what you will. Also, they were supposed to give us a big container of russian dressing but instead gave us a huge container of mustard, enough to last us a year probably. Visited here last night off the recommendation from a food influencer friend of mine in Long Beach. I was really in the mood for a Corned Beef or a Brisket sandwich but I couldn't not visit here for their famous Pastrami Sandwich. Ordered with lettuce and onion, Russian sauce on the side. Fell in love after one bite. I've never eaten Pastrami (wasn't my preference growing up) but this changed my mind entirely. I no longer live nearby, but when visiting I stop in for great food. Pickles and coleslaw are served to the table when you are seated. We had their overstuffed sandwiches today, hot pastrami served on rye bread and we added my favorite topping...deli mustard. The pastrami was hot, fresh cut and perfectly moist. I love that they serve dill pickles and crunchy half sours. The coleslaw is thinly cut and a bit on the sweet side. Meals come out quickly and they check if everything is good. This is easily Five Stars! Delicious fully stuffed pastrami and brisket sandwiches with sufficient mustard,thousand island/relish condiments and don't forget the gravy for the brisket! The owner is friendly and willing to come out from behind the counter and shake your hand and look you in the eyes, and he asks if you enjoyed your meal! So, on that note I hope you enjoy your meal. This guy rules. I met a person in there who worked for the owner 20 years ago at his house, and he said it was a pleasure to work for and he treated him great. That says a lot about a business owner! 3-25-24. My first time here. Ordered the Reuben and a regular pastrami sandwich and split them with my friend. Pastrami was very flavorful and enjoyable. They provide the table with pickles and Cole slaw which happened to be excellent. Matzo ball soup was also a nice addition. Also got a knish which was good but not great. It's not as good as Ktz but it certainly is way more convenient than schlepping it into Manhattan. I was very pleased with my meal. The service was a bit slow but the waitress was very nice. Prices are a little steep but on par with other similar places for the quality of food you're getting. I would definitely return. read more

Whenever I get my hair done, I have to bring home food from Lido's. My most recent visit over the weekend, I walked away with a large haul. And although this isn't much of an update I needed to leave another 5 star review because the guys behind the counter are: 1) always hustling whether it be grabbing dine-in orders, putting together and getting out those catering orders, or takeout orders like mine. 2) for as much as they hustle, they are always so nice and friendly. Between helping me decide what sandwich I want, or doing what they can to get me a chicken pot pie that will still take hours too make. 3) this is one of the old school Kosher delis you come to NY for. Katz and 2nd ave are great but there is nothing like Lido's in Long Beach. Pastrami and the round knishes are my go too. Also, they house my favorite half sour pickles. Their cole slaw is incomparable. I could keep going, but you catch my drift. Just go to Lido's when in Long Beach. read more

Lido Kosher Deli is the best of the best! I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place before. I've been coming here for years and it's consistently good. When you sit down they bring a bowl piled high with cole slaw and a tray with pickles. They have a lunch special seven days a week and you get a cup of soup, a sandwich which is a generous size (1/4 lb of meat apparently, but it is a good amount for lunch), and coffee or tea. I highly recommend the pea soup and the corned beef or pastrami. Also, the fries here are so good. The frankfurter is better than most. The stuffed cabbage is sweet and is comforting. Everything is high quality. You could find a cheaper place to eat but it wouldn't be as good. read more

First time year in a number of years. I didn't remember it being all that great the last time I was there. But this time, I was pretty impressed. Unlike the alleged experience of some of the other reviewers, the wait staff was helpful and friendly and on top of things. Service was quick even though it was a Sunday night and the place was relatively crowded (although there was no wait for a table). They brought Cole slaw and pickles to the table right away. As soon as I placed the menu down, they came over and asked if I was ready to order. The Cole slaw was superb - tangy and delicious. The half sour pickle was not good - it was more like a bad cucumber, but I've found this to be the case at a number of delis lately. The sour pickle was fine. I ordered a pastrami-brisket combo. The pastrami was sliced very thin - almost as thin as paper, but it was quite tasty and had great edges. The brisket was also pretty good, although not at the level of "Jewish holiday grandma brisket in 1965". I added the Cole slaw, mustard and Russian dressing to the sandwich and it was fabulous. I wouldn't say the pastrami was as good as Katz's pastrami but it was still quite good - just different. The rye bread was not great - like Katz's rye bread, it falls apart - but it was "good enough". The cost was very fair - much less expensive than the big NYC Jewish delis. The dining room was small, but pleasantly appointed. More than half of the place is a store for takeout. The foods in the cases, which included such things as fried chicken, lots of different salads and what looked to me like homemade wrapped cocktail franks all looked pretty good. Oh, if only I still lived in Rockaway! I visited Lido last week while back in NY with family, and brought my adult daughter who used to eat there with her grandpa decades ago. The pickles - both half and full sour - were amazing, better than I remember ba tampte as a kid. The slaw was so good I had to stop myself from filling up on cole slaw and pickles! We split our dinner: A big bowl of Matzoball soup, A corned beef and turkey sandwich, and a square knish. Oh. My. Gawd. First the kneidlach was PERFECT, and there was a healthy amount of chicken and lokshen noodles to boot. The sandwich was amazing in every way. Nice overstuffed sandwich, just the right amount of fat on the corned beef, and fresh sliced turkey... I can't remember when I've had corned beef this good. Maybe never. The knish was just as expected - could have been Gabila's could have been home maded - didn't matter. It all tasted GREAT with mustard. The food here is fantastic. They definitely don't skimp on the portions. The sandwich I ordered was so thick, I couldn't take a full bite out of it without rearranging the meat a bit. I ordered The Deluxe. A triple decker sandwich with hot corned beef, hot pastrami, cole slaw, and Russian dressing, on rye bread. It. Was. Amazing! As for the service, these guys are pros. We sat ourselves and immediately had water, and a plate of complimentary half & whole sour pickles, along with some cole slaw. We munched on that, and maybe 5 minutes later our waiter took our order. Maybe 10 minutes after that we had our food. They're fast, and they're friendly. The ambiance is your standard Jewish deli. It's not fancy, but it's not meant to be. It's meant to do its job, serve good food, and that's it. The entire place is very clean, including the restrooms. Afterward, we paid our bill at the front counter, where they have an entire deli section, but we couldn't leave without grabbing an extra container of their pickles to go. This kosher Deli is better than outstanding. An easy five stars right from the get go... I have been wanting to come to this location for years now, and on my way to an event, I passed by. I am happy that the event ended early enough that I was able to come back here for dinner. My wife and I ordered our normal dinner that we have at the deli. All of their food is spectacular The chicken soup was incredibly tasty with plenty of noodles, vegetables, and great kreplach. The pastrami was delicious-juicy loaded with flavor just loaded with the flavor. The corn beef was equally as delicious, tender, tasty, and plenty of meat on the sandwiches. Definitely an overstuffed sandwich. Of course we had their very well cooked french fries with some gravy for dipping.
