Lauriol Plaza is a pretty solid place to get delicious and fairly priced Mexican food. I have been here quite a few times, and I've been pleased with each visit. The restaurant has valet parking on the side of the building, which has consistently been $5. Unfortunately it's not a very big lot, so if you arrive during peak hours you may find yourself parking a few blocks away in their secondary lot. I was fortunate enough to get a spot in the closer lot. Also note, the valet will say that's it's cash only, but I was able to go inside and pay for parking on my card at the bar. All I had to do was show the valet the receipt. Once inside I ordered the Salmon with Shrimp. This is my favorite meal to get here. The sauce on the salmon is what really gives the dish it's flavor. It comes with cooked veggies, plantains, and a side of rice & black beans. The complimentary chips and salsa was also a plus. The waiter was very kind and service was fast. Omgoodness I'm here on vacation and we went here last night the food was incredible the service was great the drinks were perfect. We were seated outside and the night was perfect for outside dining. So we had a party of seven chilling outside on the patio enjoying family time and good food and then....... We were joined by master splinter y'all. I think I died before I made it to the sidewalk. I'm from the west coast so I'm definitely not used to street rats joining me for dinner even if we are dining outside. So this was definitely an experience. So all I can say is if you aren't fond of rodents dine inside, other than that you might want to check this place out. The seafood enchiladas and the beans are definitely a must try. If you are 21 and up the swirl margarita is perfect. read more

Came for cinco de mayo and things were rocky from the start. We sat at the upstairs bar and had to flag the bartender down to order a drink and had to tell him our order twice and he still got it wrong. Had to ask for chips and salsa twice. My friend ordered refried beans they brought punto the first time and then black beans. Had to flag down someone that spoke better english to get it right. The manager was no help either. First time having Mexican food in DC and a friend recommended Lauriol Plaza. Always judge a restaurant by their chips and salsa. They passed that test. The chips were fresh and salsa was really good. I had the Spinach Quesadilla, which comes with a side of sour cream and guac (see photo). For the price, you're actually getting a lot of food. I'm almost certain that I've always had meat Quesadillas, and never Spinach. I would totally order this dish again. Friendly and fast service. Lots of seating inside and outside on the patio area. Came for lunch on a Saturday and the place was packed. Safely packed (people were well spaced) that is. There were 3 levels, so plenty of options for seating, including the rooftop and the patio out front. I had a feeling the food must be great! I didn't have any drinks, but friends I was with ordered a few rounds and said they were all good. I did have a shrimp quesadilla (I think it was on a special menu), and it was good not great. It was filling, but I wouldn't say come here for this item in particular. But luckily they have lots of food options to try, so it's worth a visit. I am from NY but I visit Maryland 3 to 4 times a year. And when I come Lauriol Plaza is a must go to restaurant when I am in the DMV area. The customer service is warm and friendly. The hostess greets you right away. The wait staff is very attentive. The accommodations and changes they have made due to covid for outdoor dining is so nice. Pleasant, comfortable dining. I went on Margarita Monday. The drinks are so yummy and the food is really good. I had the Marisco Saltado. The flavors are mouth watering. The scallops in the dish were cooked to perfection. My guest had the Masitas de Puerco. It was tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. I definitely recommend and as always I will be back. read more

The food was actually delicious but the vegetables were considered as two pieces of carrots and two pieces of broccoli. I had stuffed shrimp with crabmeat and it turned out better than expected. My students took me and my co-worker out to eat here and we had a great time. Atmosphere: could be casual but all the wait staff were dressed nicely. They also have valet parking for $5 out front so don't try to park in the lot by yourself! The inside was really nice but I felt like my group was kind of loud but no one really minded so I was grateful for that. Food: everything we had here was really delicious. I especially loved my Lomo Saltado. The Nachos were good but not sure if it was worth the price. The pina colada was really tasty and perfect for the meal. Service: very good service. *Visiting from Houston* I was in dire need of some Mexican food so I was initially walking from my hotel (Hilton-Washington) to this Mexican spot that I found on Yelp. But it was extremely hot out so I opted for this restaurant because I still had a 10 minute walk to the initial spot. What drew me to this place was the outside seating and when I approached the restaurant, I noticed it was Mexican...so winning! Walked in, I was immediately greeted. The host asked got indoor or outdoor. At first, I said outdoor but I remembered I've been walking and could use some cool air so inside it was LOL. The host sat me by a window which was great and appreciated because despite being hot, it was a beautiful day. There was a lunch menu available but I didn't see anything I wanted besides the Sangeria that was about $5.50, I believe. So I ordered that (red one)...I didn't like it at all but I drunk it anyways...later, I got the house margarita which was 1,000,000x better (would recommend). Food wise, I ordered beef enchiladas, it came with rice and charro beans. I personally didn't like the beef enchiladas because it was shredded beef, I was under the assumption it was going to be ground beef. At this point, I was hungry so I devoured it. If you are looking for a neighborhood Mexican spot, you have found it. It's an easy walk from most places and super easy to find. I stopped for an unplanned lunch as I was walking by. The covered patio is enormous and very well shaded from the sun and other weather elements, I chose to dine inside. It's a very large restaurant with loads of seating. The menu was adequate and had all the typical things you would expect. The staff was friendly and the food was good. I ordered a chicken and spinach quesadilla and a side of the grilled bacon wrapped shrimp. While the food was good, I never discovered the spinach in the quesadilla and the shrimp was absent of the bacon. The Guacamole was fresh and delightful. We had dinner here over the weekend with a few friends from out of the the neighborhood. Very much in their favor is that, because the place is so huge, we were able to get a table for five on the spur of the moment even though everywhere else in Adams Morgan was packed. (and we all had recollections of coming when everywhere else was closed, such as early in the pandemic as well as during a blizzard) The menu is quite extensive and everyone was able to find something that they wanted. The quantities were so large that we left with enough for lunch the following day. Nice chips with quite spicy salsa be4gan the meal. I had Argentine beef with a red wine and mushroom steak , which was delicious, and a zucchini salad with mint, which was a very nice idea but was much too salty (thus the three stars instead of four). Overall 2.5 stars... let's be generous since my coworkers love this place. *palm to face* Not the best Mexican food... it's decent. It definitely feels like a commercialized Mexican cuisine place... which sucks, cuz it means the spice will be toned down. The atmosphere is great, loud... very loud, you literally have to scream to your table mates to "talk"! The space is oddly configured, tables are tightly mushed together and packed. The bathroom - try to avoid... like cafeteria... ewwl. I tried the sweet plantain (Meh...), the thing they called Guacamole (Not really. It was more like chopped avocado thrown together. One of my go-tos when visiting the DC area and I still love it every time! This place honestly has the best chips and salsa I've tasted across the US. The chips are thin and crispy, perfectly salted and the salsa is fresh and not too mild or spicy, the perfect sweet spot. The food has always been great but I've usually ordered the Mexican food, haven't ventured into heavy meat dishes yet. This time we enjoyed the gambas al ajillo and the shrimp and crab quesadilla. Both were very tasty! The margaritas are a must have! I usually get a swirl frozen, either strawberry and lime or strawberry and mango which is sweeter. The vibe is nice, perfect for a date or a girls night out. I do miss the days when they would play more latin music so hopefully they bring it back! read more

Came here for Valentine's Day dinner with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised! The photos don't do it justice, in my opinion it has a potential to be more upscale than what I originally thought which was a pleasant surprise. In terms of the service, I genuinely felt taken care of and paid attention to by the server - which was a surprise during such a busy night like Valentine's Day. To eat, I enjoyed the Zarzuela de Mariscos which was DIVINE. I finished all of it. The flavorful stew contained seafood stew scallops, shrimp, fish, squids, mussels and clams, in a very delicious saffron wine sauce. The mango frozen margarita was absolutely delicious. And a bit strong, I'll admit. All in all, I would definitely return to this place again and even recommend it to others. Docking a star because the restaurant was extremely full and during a global pandemic, I expected to be more spaced out from other people around me. Many businesses and restaurants have cut the amount of tables down to keep their patrons safe and enforce social distancing, so it's become an expectation of mine. 4/5! Good pick! read more

I am always looking for a new places to try and I love Mexican food. When we visited it was National Margarita Day! A friend from the area recommended this place. I immediately looked it up on Yelp! The food looked good and the prices looked even better! Even with Covid, I expected to have to wait to be seated. The city just really opened dining back up, it was dinner time and it was National Margarita Day. I was prepared to wait. Luckily, our party of 3 didn't need to. The ambiance was great, the service was great, the margs were hittin' and the food was good. We got 2 pitchers of the Lime Margarita on the Rocks. I think we got 5-6 full glasses out of the full pitcher. Chips and Salsa were complimentary (always a plus). I ordered 3 chicken enchiladas with rice. They were really good (even the leftovers I had for breakfast the next day/this morning). Overall, I really loved this. Can't wait until it's warmer to sit outside. If you're interested outside is open and has tower heaters but the cold isn't my thing. The prices were also very fair! Highly recommend. read more

The waiting area is a mess and they should probably put out more chairs for their popular nights. When we were finally seated, we already knew what we wanted to eat. Our server was attentive. I had the nachos al carbon and split the crab and shrimp quesadilla because the description. I mean duh. The food came out at a reasonable time because I don't remember complaining. The food was so good!! I ate everything. I think the quesadilla was better than the nachos. Also guacamole is $11. I was upset my friends paid for that, but not my pockets. The food prices were good for the portions, though. The menu says they don't do split checks. One thing I hate. But the server made us write out what everyone should pay, so is that not splitting checks? Two random things. The bathroom was really clean and the restaurant is SO loud but there's no music. Pretty good food but I like the drinks better lol. Went here last night for a late dinner, they don't close until 11 and were pretty much empty on the inside. I had the beef crispy tacos with rice and beans. Wasn't a huge fan of the rice and beans but the tacos were delicious. I also got a pitcher of red sangria and it was a nice night cap. I hate how everyone wants to be an influencer so they write long paragraphs about how the food was good and it's not. The chicken fajitas had absolutely no flavor and my bistec cuban steak was average. The menu says it's a skirt steak and instead they gave me two sirloin steaks. The service was terrible and we got sat down at a dirty table. The margaritas everyone raves about is cheap triple sec and cheap sour mix. The bill came to 175.00 for three people. We got a half pitcher of margaritas that taste like Applebees dollar margaritas. Absolutely not worth it. My chilled shots were ok. I wouldn't recommend this place. This old favorite is still my favorite! I love that they have expanded the space in the back with a huge tent. Their frozen margaritas as second to none. I used to get lemon strawberry swirl but tried a mango strawberry swirl and it is my new FAVORITE. I could make a meal out of their chips and queso, but of course also ordered dinner and got the chicken and shrimp combo fajita. Also a new favorite! This place is pretty cool! You walk in and there's a lot of people everywhere! Indoor, outdoor and upstairs seating. Once you sit down and observe the environment, it's more calming than what appears. This place has indoor and outdoor seating and it's located in the perfect location in Washington, DC. It's walking distance to a lot of shops, bakeries, restaurants, residences and hotels. I came here because a friend of mine has been recommending his place for quite some time and today we decided to visit while on a Vintage Shopping Spree. Customer service was a little slow. There were long gaps of time between drink order, food order and bill payment. Literally 10-15 minutes in between time for everything. The menu selections were endless with food and drink options. Everything staff came out of the kitchen w for other patrons in the restaurant looked & smelled so good! Sadly we had plenty of time to observe. We ordered Chimichanga (Stuffed w chicken, quick fried w guacamole, pico de gallo & sour cream, Pollo Asado (Roasted half chicken marinated w cumin, oregano and garlic, topped w sauteed spanish herbs), Gold Cadillac (Jose Cuervo Gold, Grand Mariner, Cointreau and Lime Juice) & Sangria. Everything went pretty well although my friend said her beverage (Gold Cadillac) wasn't as good as it had been in the past. I wanted a Peach Margarita... Nope, they couldn't make it, next ordered a Peach Daiquiri... Nopppeeeee, no bueno. These are menu items and it appears they're out of PEACH :( So I ordered a Red Sangria. My Sangria was made with cheap liquor. I really can't do cheap liquor too good and 24 hours later while writing this review, I still have a headache. OAN: The food was ahhhmazing !! Well seasoned, plentiful and well plated !! Because this part of town is so popular, parking is almost non existent. It took me about 15 minutes to find a space but I did find a space within 2 blocks. I was happy that I could use Park Mobile for payment. I look forward to returning to try another dish that I was eyeing on the menu as well as a peach something... anything!!
