This place is DC institution. It is huge, 3 floors! This is a great place to come for family celebrations. They have parking $5, just make sure to come early enough to get a spot. The food is so good and fresh. This trip we came with the whole family and got the family platter. It came with tons of meat, rice, beans, fresh tortillas, guacamole and lettuce. We also had the beef tamale, it was so good! We had all the of the desserts and the best ones was the tres leches and plátanos maduros y helado. The staff there is so great, they are very attentive and helpful. It is very kid friendly, with crayons, coloring books, high chairs and changing stations. Their elevator was out though and you need to take the stairs in order to get to the tables, so not currently wheel chair accessible. Hopefully they fix that soon. read more

Best Tacos Al Pastor I've ever had -- meat was tender and juicy and just the right ratio of meat to pineapple and other stuff. The complimentary chips and salsa were also some of the best I've ever had -- the chips are warm and thin and oily and the salsa is warm and light and refreshing and not too spicy. We came here on a Saturday for dinner and it was busy but fun. I never had a margarita with two flavors in it so we ordered a pitcher of mango and lime swirl. It was really good! First time coming to Lauriol Plaza and I don't think I can say enough positive things. Service was friendly, efficient and personable from the host staff, busers and our amazing server Rafael. He really took care of us and made our date night feel special without us even having to ask/mention the occasion. We ordered the crab and shrimp quesadillas with a side of guac and queso to accompany the free chips and salsa. Our entrees were the Laredo platter and Masitas and for dessert we ordered the caramel flan. Each dish tasted great and was well presented. Food was pretty good but the service and ambiance were too notch. I got the muscles and they had really good flavor to them. I have loved this place for 10+ years. Although over the last 18 months I've noticed a slight decline in quality of the food. The queso tastes like it came out of a cheese wiz machine. Vegetables are essentially raw with the fajitas. My order was steak fajitas and chips with guac + queso. This is the bag of chips for the $17 chips/guac/queso. WTF?? Order was $47 not including tip. Oh man, I really didn't enjoy the food here but here are my honest review: -Food: it was so very meh. The shrimp and crab quesadilla, I took one bite and that was it for me. The baby shrimps in there are clearly frozen and it was chewy. It was overloaded with what I think is mozzarella cheese. Just felt like it was take out quality and was eating a cheese quesadilla. NOW, with that said, we saw almost everyone else ordering the fish and it looked amazing. Maybe that's the way to go! -Service: The tostones were so greasy and could hardly taste the green plantain. I took a bite and again that was it. I felt like it was re-fried. We asked if it's possible to switch to the sweet plantain just because the ones we had was so overly oily and not fresh, he said "uhh it's already made". So no problem, just plantains, not going to make a big deal. I didn't order anything else but my fiance went with beef fajitas which is the grilled steak. He took one bite, said it was so chewy that we decided to get the check so we can go eat somewhere else. Didn't throw a fuss or anything, maybe it was just an off day. We came at 3:30pm on Saturday so I know the timing is a bit unconventional (not lunch, not dinner). However, when the waiter saw that we didn't eat anything he ended up bringing out the fried sweet plantain at the end. Which was cold anyways so we didn't eat it. Hey, people seem to love it there! I went to Lauriol Plaza for a birthday dinner and I had such a great experience. The drive was about 45 minutes and worth every minute. I had the Del Mar platter with shrimp wrapped in bacon and steak fajitas. It was so delicious and so filling. The chips and salsa were good so was the frozen margaritas. I went to Lauriol Plaza last week with a few of my co-workers and it was a fabulous experience! We were lucky to find street parking close to the restaurant, however, on some days they do offer valet parking. I'm not sure which days valet parking is offered - but I would assume it's a weekend only thing. When we went inside it was busy, but we were seated very quickly. One of my chief complaints with Lauriol Plaza is how close the tables are together - you can clearly hear the conversations at the tables around you. The tables are so close that it is not uncommon for you to bump or be bumped when you're getting up/sitting down. On the day we went, it was national margarita day! All of their margaritas were 4.95, and that was a deal that was too good to pass up! We all got frozen margaritas, and to be honest, I thought they would give us smaller portions due to the special. I was wrong. We got the full sized, perfectly sour and sweet margaritas for only $4.95! It was great. When we first sat down we were given chips and salsa. I love the chips at Lauriol Plaza - they're freshly made and perfectly crunchy. For an entree, I had the steak and chicken fajitas and they were amazing! They came out sizzling hot. The tortillas were homemade and they were AMAZING. Due to allergies I couldn't have majority of the sides, however, they did give me cheese and sour cream which helped make up for it! Lauriol Plaza is generally dependable for large plates and good food with a huge selection. My favorite thing is the seafood enchiladas, but my husband loves the fajitas, and the quesadillas and specials are always good. I recently tried the sunshine salad and it was really good, huge! I didn't need the gigantic piece of salmon I got to go with it! The salmon was well cooked and seasoned. Came here with my family and friends of 5, ordered a shredded beef enchilada. The server had difficulty when asked if they served a steak quesadilla, only fully understanding when asked in Spanish. My enchilada did not arrive with the rest of the orders, which did arrive speedily. When asking about my order, the server apologized and said it was not put in, but they would bring it soon. It did arrive quickly, but I ended up eating well after everyone else was more than halfway done. The food itself was good, however upon my last few bites I kept biting into what felt like fish bones, which I assume were cow bones that had made their way past the shredding process. I could not swallow past the amount there was and I was forced to try and pick through my own mouth to remove the tiny bones. The restaurant's atmosphere was good and well-receiving, however there was a bit of a bottleneck at the stairs leading to seating, and customers waiting on tables would repeatedly crowd it with nowhere else to go. 2/5 Stars, better options are available within walking distance. read more

Currently, due to COVID-19, inside dining is closed but they have turned the valet parking lot into an unique outdoor eating experience. Initially, when I arrived I was not all that interested in sitting outside because of the summer heat....but, surprisingly the all tables were covered under tents to provide shade and large fans kept the environment cool enough to eat and enjoy ourselves. We started with 2 pitchers of margarita's (1 Frozen, 1 Cadillac), Started with salsa, chips, Guac, no apps were ordered. I had the HUGE Stuffed Lobster & Shrimp Diablo as my main course, 6 large sizzling shrimp, with all the fixings (rice, beans, salsa, guac, soft tortilla's) very large portion. Both were delicious and couldn't ask for anything more. Quesadilla's, enchilada's, Fajita dishes, French Toast, and Pizza's rounded out the rest of my family member meals. All I can say is....There were nothing but sounds of Noms, Ummm-OMMG, and Thumbs Up from everyone!! The service was on point too. 5 Stars -- Across the board!
