had a very disappointing experience with Lauzon Veterinary Hospital and unfortunately will not be returning. I was actually a longtime client of this clinic years ago, before it was purchased by a large international veterinary corporation, and I returned because I had trusted the clinic in the past. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been extremely disappointing and very different from the level of care and accountability I remembered. I moved my pets back to this clinic specifically because I was assured that my dog's specialized prescription food would be kept consistently in stock. Earlier this winter, the food was unavailable and I had to accept a larger substitute bag from another location, which did not agree with my dog. After that incident, I had a direct conversation with the clinic to make clear how important it was that this food be properly ordered and available moving forward. Despite that conversation, I recently arrived to pick up food again and once again it was not available -- leaving me without enough food for the weekend for a dog with dietary needs. What upset me even more than the mistake itself was how I was treated afterwards. Rather than acknowledging the issue or showing empathy, staff shifted blame onto me and implied that I was somehow irresponsible as a pet owner. The interaction felt dismissive, defensive, and unnecessarily shaming. I understand that supply issues can happen. What matters is how clients are treated when problems arise. In my experience, this clinic showed very little accountability or compassion in a stressful situation involving a pet's health and care. I have since resolved the immediate issue elsewhere, but after this experience I no longer feel confident relying on this clinic for ongoing care. read more

I had an emergency with one with one of my cats one day when the regular vets are closed. I called and got an appointment right away. I was very impressed very the compassionate knowledgeable staff! I will be continuing to bring my animals here - staff is so kind and welcoming, even when they are busy they explain the situation and update me on my pet. I brought my cat Willow in last night. Willow wasn't eating and very lethargic. Dr. Malovec found the problem and was aware money is an issue for me. She ate shortly after she got home and is back to her normal self. I am so grateful. I LOVE my furbabies and I am very pleased with the service at Lauzon. Before having pets of my own, I would come here with my parents and the pets I had growing up. This was our veterinary hospital for our cats, and it still is theirs as well. This location is 24/7 which makes it very easy to come to in case of emergency. Now, with saying that, it has been a few hits and misses. The last time I came here was for an emergency with my Shihtzu Poodle, she was vomiting bile & had severe diarrhea for the past 24 hours. My boyfriend had called about an hour before we came for an emergency apt and they told us to bring her in. We did have our files transferred from our vet in London, but still had to give them our information. After that was all said and done, the vet tech was really nice, she took us into a room and we waited....and waited....and waited....for at least 45 minutes before the actual vet came in to see Chelsea. He was very nice. Dr. Laus, took her temperature, felt her stomach, told us her intestines were probably irritated from throwing up so much, told us what he would like to do and came back with an estimate, everything that he wanted to do would have cost us over $700, and she could possibly be alright with the bare minimum. If you don't have pet insurance (which we don't) it's ridiculous how much it is for a pet. Luckily, he saw the blood drain from our faces and went back with a cheaper estimate. Medicine, wet food, which was easy on the stomach, some fluids for hydration and the apt was the low low cost of $273 after tax. That was our cheaper option so we went with it, hoping our pupper would feel better after that. Which she is. When we were done our apt we went back into the reception which took at least another 15 minutes for us to be cashed out and given our medication for our dog. Overall the experience wasn't that bad, it was long, painfully long. My parents have been coming here for years and they always book an apt with Dr. Reiss. He's always been a fan favourite of theirs when they come, he is personable and knows their animals very well. We will continue to come here, but will ask to book an apt with Dr. Reiss. read more

I would give ZERO stars of I could. I found this place very insensitive and unkind. The staff was laughing Very loudly and goofing around while I was in there to have my cat put to sleep so we had to listen to their laughing while I cried over my cat. They let a dog run into the room while I was in with my cat right after she died. They didn't rush in to get the dog out or even apologize. We had to get the dog out ourselves. The vet was cold and uncaring. I contacted them on their website to let them know about my awful experience (so they could use it as a learning experience) and they didn't bother to respond. They made a sad day even worse. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE! YOU WILL BE SCAMMED AND LAUZON VET DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET. THEY CAN'T EVEN DIAGNOSE MY CAT BEING PREGNANT. I brought my cat to get her wound treated. The first doctor disinfected her wound and gave her some antibiotics/liquid medication so that her wound won't get infected, and she received an e-collar. The doctor told me to bring her back in 2 weeks, but because I was busy, I wasn't able to bring her back until 3 and a half weeks later. A different doctor, Dragan Gunj, checked my cat. Words cannot express how much I hate this doctor. Gunj scolded me about why I'm bringing my cat in so late. I explained that I had a busy schedule, but he didn't care to listen. When he went to fetch my cat from the car trunk, he saw the big dog cage my cat was in; he was baffled and said, "You're lucky that your neighbors didn't see you, or else they would call the humane society and you would go to court." He's implying that I'm mistreating my cat. He brings my cat in the vet and then explained that my cat needs stitches. Why didn't the first doctor suggest stitches were necessary? The first doctor was the one who cleaned her wound so he should've noticed my cat's tissue was already exposed. I gave permission for the doctor to perform surgery on my cat to stitch her wound. The next day, my cat's stitches were undone. I brought my cat back to the vet and the doctor that performed the surgery (a different doctor, not sure what his name is) said that it was my cat's fault for removing the stitches. He's charging me an additional $100 because I need to pay for the anaesthesia. I tried arguing that cats are expected to scratch their itchy wound, so isn't it supposed to be the doctor's duty to prevent this? He said that this time he's stitching the wound from the inside. So why wasn't this option done the first time? He performed another surgery on my cat. When I went to pick my cat up, he informed me that my cat's belly was three times bigger than normal and said she could die from worms. So he prescribed my cat some worm medication and he also prescribed a medicine to make her groggy so she doesn't itch her stitches as much. I fed all that medication and squished my cat down for no reason.. About a week later, my cat gave birth to 7 kittens overnight. Very unexpected.. not once did any of these doctors mention she was pregnant or even suggested the possibility of pregnancy. I helped my mother cat nurse her kittens because she was inexperienced. One day, I noticed that one of the kittens were having difficulties breathing. So I use my finger and tried pumping air into the kitty. I did it the entire way to the vet (someone else drove). I was the first car there, I had to call and check in, and it took at least 10 minutes for a doctor to come out to see my kittens. It was Gunj again. By the time I handed my kitten to him, she stopped breathing because he took so long. He checked on my kitten and told me she didn't make it. I requested them to check on my mother cat and the rest of her kittens. My cat was diagnosed with a fever, so I was worried and decided it would be best to have blood work done on her. The results came out pretty bad as my cat was high in sodium and calcium. Gunj recommended that she stays hospitalized for IVs. I was on the phone with my husband to discuss about the situation in Gunj's presence. He told me that he can sue me cause I didn't tell him I was on the phone and he thought I was recording our conversation. I chose not to hospitalize my cat because I don't trust him. I asked the technician to demonstrate how to feed my kittens, since I'm new to being a cat owner as well as to newborn kittens. The technician taught me how to feed my kittens the incorrect way, which possibly led all my kittens to have aspiration, since I heard them all struggling to breathe. Couple days later, all my kittens passed away. I brought my cat to another vet and did another blood work. Everything was normal and I'm glad I decided not to hospitalize my cat or else I would've wasted even more money. read more

First off, we are from Ohio. We were in town for the weekend visiting family for Thanksgiving. Our dog became very ill late Friday night/early Saturday morning (10/06/18). We drove to Lauzon Veterinary Hospital around 2:00am (maybe earlier) and waited for the tech to acknowledge us. Not like someone coming in at that time would be an emergency or anything - no big deal (hopefully you can sense the sarcasm here). After about a 10 minute wait for him to finish on the phone talking about boarding a dog with another customer, we finally were able to check in our dog to be seen. Which that took way too much time. First off, this place is filthy and just smells like garbage. Secondly, the veterinarian that we saw had zero bedside manners and zero compassion. Once we finally were able to tell him what was going on (our dog was vomiting/bloody diarrhea), he just kinda looked at her and then us with a confused "I don't know what to tell you" face. He hurt my dog trying to take her temperature (which made her throw up) and then all I could hear was screams from her while they were trying to draw her blood for the blood tests. We were the ones having to recommend doing blood work and suggesting medications for her. After being there for 3.5 hours, we left with being notified she had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, got her on some antibiotics, anti-vomiting medicine and something to calm her tummy down. I was not about to leave her there for 24 or more hours for IV fluids. 4 hours later we went to Clearwater Animal Hospital and they were fantastic, and that's how it should be (got her on fluids and anti-diarrhea meds). Lauzon Vet Hospital has no business seeing animals and should be shut down or a whole new staff take over. What a horrid, dirty, unprofessional vet I've ever been to. And what they charge you is completely ridiculous for the crummy half-assed service you receive. I would've walked out within 5 min but I really needed to find out what was going on with my lil baby. read more

Now I took a girl in for a blockage which after the x-ray they should have done surgery did a barium and an enema after more than 12 hours before they finally did surgery now they are telling me she may not make it. read more

We had previously lost two elderly pets of ours one year apart and went to lauzon Veterinary Clinic since our dogs had always had their regular vet visits there. The staff and Dr's who waited on us were wonderful and caring people. They treated our pets the way we would and let us grieve as long as we needed to with them. They did not rush us and allowed us to take the time to say goodbye. We have gone here for our new dog for her checkups and vaccinations and again have always been treated well. Absolutely awful experience. Insensitive.. I was told to put my dog down without a diagnosis? And that they don't know what's wrong I could send him to the states.. I took him home that night and by the next morning he was much better. I went in during the night to have a different vet go over the lab work and xrays with me. This place is awful. I took my cat there late one night because she was very sick. She needed to be put down. We were put in a room near the front entrance and the door was left open. I would have thought that since they knew my cat was about to be put down and that it was a very sad moment for me, that they would have closed the door and have been respectful. This was not the case. The vet was so rough with my cat and when he determined that there was nothing that could be done, he coldly said "yes she is dying". While I was in the room with my cat, the staff were laughing very loudly and sounded like they were having a party. A dog came running into the room as I sat there with my dead cat and we had to try to usher the dog out...no one seemed to care that I was in there crying while someone's little dog was yapping around my ankles. The vet was so uncaring and cold. I didn't get to hold my cat as she died. They did not prepare me for how it would happen. I wanted to hold her but instead she died on a cold, metal table with the vet poking at her and checking her vitals...she had just been given the injection to euthanize her...I hardly think that checking her vitals was necessary. He could have let me hold her while she died. After she died, he said "she's gone" and walked out the room. I sat there for another 10 min but listening to the laughing and hollering from the staff was annoying me plus I wanted to get home to comfort my children so I decided to leave but I needed to pay first. We went to find someone (since no one was at the front desk or anywhere in sight) to ask if we could pay and leave. We were told to "hold on". After another 10 min, STILL no one had come to get us to let us pay. Again we went to go ask if we could pay and leave. This time we were finally able to. It was an awful experience. Putting a pet down is a very sad time....this animal clinic made it a lot worse than it needed to be. Only one person showed us any compassion and caring that day. He was the only one that took the time to act like he cared. The rest of the staff (mainly the vet) were horrible and inconsiderate. How dare they sit back there laughing loudly when they know there is someone having a pet put down. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!! They ruined my last few moments with my beloved cat. Shame on you Lauzon Veterinary Hospital. On a side note....I messaged them the next day to tell them of my horrible experience. This is the perfect example of a practice that is only interested in money, and not the wellbeing of animals. Last Saturday I had to rush to a Veterinary Hospital when my seven week old puppy began showing symptoms of Parvo. I immediately drove to the nearest 24 hour clinic (Lauzon Veterinary Hospital), which was the worst decision I could have made. I called beforehand to let the receptionist know that we were coming in with a sick puppy. When we arrived, the receptionist did not greet us, as she was finishing off a few debit transactions for customers waiting to buy their pets medication. Finally, after 25 minutes (mind you there is only about 3 customers in the facility) she finally asked for our information and proceeded to move us to the feline side of the facility incase the puppy did have Parvo. When we finally got a room, it took the Vet 30-45 minutes to finally enter our room to check the temperature, and breathing of my puppy. He disappeared for 20 minutes and came back to tell us that a vet tech would come test for Parvo. After another 10 minutes, the vet tech comes in, takes a sample and leaves for 20 minutes. The test comes back negative for Parvo. At this point I was relieved but concerned as we still don't know why my pup is sick. The Vet asked if this was my first puppy (as I appear very young) and he began explaining how he wants to keep the puppy overnight because he is dehydrated. They want to hook him up to an IV to feed him some medicine and hopefully it will help with his symptoms. However, if in the morning his symptoms aren't better, they will keep him for an additional day(s) and continue to reassess him until they figure out what is wrong. He leaves for 20 minutes and returns with an invoice for over 800$. I was overwhelming confused as to how it costs so much and why I was being charged for future medicines that they weren't even sure he would need, nor if it would in fact help him. And if he needed to stay for an additional days, it was an extra 440$ per day! My brother kindly asked if there was a payment plan, and the doctor literally laughed in our face. I was very reluctant to sign the papers, but that is when he started using fear to pressure me into signing the forms. He told me that my dog will definitely die in the next few hours if he does not receive treatment immediately, and that I need to be a responsible pet owner and not play with his life. I signed them over in a panic and proceeded to pay half of the bill. I was feeling very uneasy and uncomfortable with what was happening. So I made a call to another vet hospital to get a second opinion, and that was the best decision I have ever made. I was told that there was no way it could cost that much to do anything for a puppy with the symptoms he had and that it was most likely stress and worms causing him to be a little under the weather. I returned and asked if I could have my puppy back immediately and asked for a refund on what I can get my money back for. It took them over an HOUR to give me my puppy. Meanwhile there was NO ONE else in the facility. The vet techs continued to tell me that the doctor will be "just a few more minutes" and finally, the doctor asks us to come in and he starts explaining in the most condescending manor, how my puppy will definitely die if I don't keep him there. I made up an excuse that I wanted to bring him home and if things got worse, I'd bring him back. He finally got me my dog and I was able to leave with only paying a little under 300$ for a physical, Parvo test, and the medicine used as well as the cost for the IV. I then rushed over to a different hospital and my puppy was treated immediately with some fluids under his skin, dewormer, antibiotics, and was feeling better the next morning. My puppy did not die, and certainly did not need over 800$ of some treatment that was unnecessary. I will never be back to this place, and I will continue to warn others about how it is nothing but a greedy business who cares more about money than the health and safety of animals. The wait was ridiculous and the cost is outrageous. read more
