We walked through the place to check out the bowling for a future visit and stopped at the arcade. I will say, the bowling alley which has a lot of lanes was actually surprisingly quite busy with majority of lanes being occupied. The arcade wasn't huge which I wasn't surprised by since it's a bowling alley. But a lot of the games were out of order or just kind of neglected and in disrepair. There was a coin game where you're supposed to roll coins into lit up slots but you couldn't because there were soooo many coins fallen over blocking the slots lol like probably years and years of coin buildup. The "down the clown" game where you throw balls at the clown heads - there weren't enough red balls and there was a ball stuck wedged in the back and when we did ask someone to retrieve it - still it was very short on balls making it absolutely impossible to reach the bonus of 500 points (which is something we can always do). Also, the speaker volume on the games for some reason is set unusually high which I personally didn't like. It was very loud. read more

The security guards who look like wanna be call of duty mall cops will yell at you for brining your drink into the bowling area, they pace around watching you, and pitchers of beer are not allowed. I had a nice afternoon during this June heatwave. The clerks were cheerful and helpful. Our bowling game was fun. We went to the bar for lunch. They have a large selection of tasty non alcoholic beers. We both got club sandwiches which were large and fresh. Fries and onion rings were crisp and tasty. We had a good server who was helpful and cheerful and didn't hover. But checked in frequently. Good service, good food. read more

I never would have guessed that I could take my kiddo to a bowling alley and have some of the most bomb tacos I've had in a while. In fact, all the food was great! I was genuinely impressed. Customer service FAILED miserably! Went there with the family to play some arcade games and it was fun. However.... My SIL won a major prize (an Xbox) on the STACKER game and they still haven't given it to him! They tried to claim a malfunction even though we were all standing there watching him win and have it on video. They've been giving him the run around for 2 1/2 months! Wow! Be wary of playing those big prize games...they probably won't pay up. read more

I went on a Thursday evening with my 3 kids. I was told no lanes were available with no explanation. Server just walked away to help someone else. We tried the arcade instead. $20 lasted about 5 minutes with their card system. They had a little ice cream place like a Baskin Robbins. Paid $3.50 each for a single scoop and it was the smallest scoop I've ever seen served to anyone. I would NOT recommend Lava Lanes to anyone. read more

I had a party for my daughter. They called me 4 hours before we were scheduled for the room and bowling we scheduled and said we had to switch times (I made the reservations a week in advance). I told them we couldn't since we already had it planned and had other children coming. They would not refund us or help at all. We showed up anyway and had bought a package with food and a reserved room. They brought the food 40 minutes late and it was the wrong food. They did not apologize or accommodate us in any way and refused to discount anything. Then we went to bowl. We had reserve 2 lanes and they gave us 1 lane for 7 children. We made of the birthday what we could but they did not help or apologize in any way for their mistake. Completely unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone doing any sort of event at this location. read more

My daughter loves to come here. It is affordable indoor fun. Sometimes it can be a bit chaotic inside when it is busy. But that isn't really in anyone's control. The food is good and the arcade is fun too. Good passtime activity for the family. read more

We asked as we came in if we would have time for two games, counter girl said yes. We paid! There were problems with the lane and they needed to fix it in the middle of our game. Then she came to us at 950 and informed us that they were closing soon and we would not finish our game. We hustled and at 10 sharp on our 10 frame she shut our lane down. Customer service sucked! I have been coming here for 20 years and I am so disappointed. On the weekends it is horrible. The employees do not monitor the fact that signs are not read and drinks are down at the lanes. Patrons spilled on the carpet and employees were notified yet spills were not cleaned up making it unsafe for bowlers on the lanes if they stepped in it. read more

We are here now with deaf friends to watch the Rose bowl game. The manager only set 2 tv to close captions and wouldn't do one more despite having 22-23 TVs. I asked one more for one side of deaf on table.. the manager says it will bother other patrons. Wtf. Right there he just violated our rights under ADA..in case you don't know. I go to Medford every year with my husband to visit Family and Friends. We always take time out to go to Lava Lanes to bet on the horse racing. We enjoy that, never miss going each year, never have any complaints. Unfortunately I can't say that this time around. Went there this time around and was treated very bad, we are Afro American, sat down at the table the waitress with the black hair in a ponytail never came to our table not once to wait on us. At that time it was a white older couple and us. She went to there table waited on them still didn't come. Soon more people came all white she waited on every table this is after a hour of being there. I eventually went and got our own drinks and enjoyed betting on the horses. I refused to let that ruin my vacation. When my son and daughter in law came to join us, she still didn't wait on us. My son complained to the manager and the manager started waiting on us. Very disappointed in that waitress, once you show me who you are, I'm good. I don't want you getting me anything. The only person she hurting with that evil is herself. read more

Went bowling with some friends. Started out great ! Until it was time for cosmic bowling. Mind you we had been there for two hours already back and forth a couple times in and out of the bar. Since we had a friend who was under 21. No biggie. The staff put us at lane 1 knowing we had an under 21 person with us. (Because we did call before hand to make sure it was ok we all sit together) "perfectly fine"!! Then when the waitress comes around asking if we wanted more drinks and seeing if we all had our wristbands on which we did for the ones drinking... the other just had a soda. She then says "well you cant sit here" " she has to move" we were all VERY confused as they are the ones who sat us here! Knowing damn well we had a 20 year old with us! So we move and try and compromise to sit on the other side of the "non alcohol" side. But they literally refused! Such an odd thing, why even have the divider?? They wouldn't let us sit on either side all of a sudden. But at least they gave us a refund after asking for 20 mins. We left after that! Very strange behavior for a bowling alley. Maybe next time they will listen. Or just get staff who know what they are doing... read more

Our family had a horrible experience with Mike Buckman. He claimed to be a manager. We came in over Christmas break and put down a $100 deposit for lanes for our family. Our daughters had their flight delayed due to weather conditions. We immediately called back and spoke 2 representatives from Lava Lanes. This happened within hours. Both ladies were very nice. They stated the refund would be processed on Monday when the manager was back. Two weeks later, we realized that the charge was not refunded and Mike Buckman was incredibly rude and stated he refused to give a refund. Our credit card company helped us sort through this, dispute the charge, and get our $100 back. We never bowled and were promised a refund that never happened. I would advise not giving them a deposit and definitely watch your charges with this company. This was all over $100 that was never used. Owners: I would strongly implore you to replace Mike Buckman. He has horrible people skills and was incredibly unprofessional. Very sad. read more

Lava Lanes in Medford is such a great time!! They have great food, a large beer selection, a clean bar and bowling alley, and super awesome staff! I was there last night, and I just want to say how AWESOME Kevin is. I think he is a manager. We've been in every Tuesday for about a month, and he is always smiling, always friendly and helpful, and always fun! Taylor works at the service desk, and she is great too. So is Ryan! We have the best time here, and look forward to going every week. Thanks for having such a fun place for me and my friends to meet for food, drinks, bowling, and fun!! It's a large, clean facility. The balls are in good shape, so are the alleys. I recommend this place for families and also those without kids looking for a good time with good beer. read more
