Complimentary crepe from popup w/ matchawell
    Jessica R.

My friend luckily found this spot by hearing about their popup collab with matchawell (we love to see small business supporting each other!) I quickly learned Lavender & Truffles is a plant-based shop, so I was impressed to try such delicious flavors of a few of their ice creams knowing they were made with oat milk. I desperately wanted to try their coconut milk-based matcha soft-serve, but the miso butterscotch was calling my name~ The ice cream itself was very soft and not overly sweet. This particular flavor also tasted a lot like coconut which I looooved. A single was around $9.75 incuding tip, which is pretty steep but at least they gave more than I thought. I defs plan on returning to try their ube, which is my fav flavor of all time. Overall, the vibe here was very chill and friendly. The owner of matchawell gave us samples of their amazing black sesame matcha and their lavender matcha brews, both of which were incredibly smooth (go buy a tin on their online shop!) Someone also made us complimentary crepes with matcha and vanilla bean cremes :O Top notch service right here. Lastly, parking in this area is a pain and you're lucky if you find a spot right out front (mostly street tho).

    Tahini & rocky road

Came in here on a Friday evening and the woman working was super nice and gave me samples of all the flavors. They rotate on a weekly basis, so I definitely want to come back for mango sticky rice & yuzu! I got the Asian rocky road (had mochi instead of marshmallows) & tahini. Flavors were unique and was good esp. for oat milk based / vegan ice cream!

You know when something is so good you almost don't want to tell anyone because you want to keep it all to yourself? That's Lavender & Truffles. But gatekeeping joy is not the vibe, so let's talk. This place is an actual dream. Tucked away in Venice, it's a minimalist, softly-lit sanctuary that feels like it was designed by someone who knows both ice cream and interior aesthetics deserve equal reverence. Think vintage Parisian café meets modern-day skincare lab--if oat milk was a lifestyle (which, here, it is). Now for the real reason you're here: the ice cream. It's all dairy-free and based in oat milk--but trust me, you'd never know. It's ultra-luxurious, deeply flavorful, and unapologetically original. The soft serve alone is worth writing home about--available only on weekends and rotating flavors like Metamorphosis (a cult favorite for a reason) that will have you rethinking everything you thought you knew about dessert. But the real treasure trove? The pints. Rows upon rows of elegant, artfully labeled flavors like Miso Butterscotch, Strawberry Étoile, Salted Chocolate, Festival of Ube, Lychee Rose, and the most unexpectedly addictive Sumac Roasted Strawberry. It's like walking through a gallery of edible poetry. Every flavor is layered, thoughtful, and transporting. There's no filler here--just genuine craftsmanship and real-deal ingredients that sing. And did I mention how ridiculously cute the shop is? Pale pink tile floors, sculptural lighting, vintage glassware, and curated touches that make it feel like you're in on a well-kept secret. Even the boxes the pints come in are chic enough to keep forever. Bottom line: Lavender & Truffles isn't just a dessert stop--it's an experience. It's where flavor meets finesse, and every visit feels like a little love letter to your taste buds.

Have been wanting to try the soft serve but it was very lackluster. The rating is more based off the service, there was no greeting and then very awkward like i was the one asking to try something it wasn't offered and then also when going to pay I was just standing there waiting there was never any acknowledgement.

This place is a dream as I'm lactose intolerant. I've always loved ice cream, but regular dairy based ice cream doesn't love me. I normally stick to traditional ice cream flavors, but their exotic flavors have me hooked! I was in town visiting family and came here 2 days in a row because it was that AMAZING! I had their miso butterscotch, asian rocky road, Ube soft serve, and mango sticky rice. I'm obsessed with ALL of them! I taste tested some of their other flavors too and was impressed. I really wish I lived nearby, so I could grab some weekly, though that might be dangerous haha! On their website it says they do ship their ice cream anywhere in the U.S., so I will just have to order some now and then. The shop is also really pretty and there's a comfy lounge in the back where customers can go and unwind and enjoy their ice cream. It's a one-of-a-kind ice cream shop!

Plant based vegan gluten free ice cream!!! How does it taste you might ask?? Its amazing, creamy, naturally sweet and unique delicious flavor combinations. We ordered mango sticky rice, ube soft serve and rocky road. The ube soft serve was to die for, so smooth creamy and melt in your mouth. They just opened a store front in Venice beach that has an adorable asian inspired lounge in the back. This is a must try spot

Flavors were such a surprise! I have not had many vegan/plant-based ice creams but I really enjoyed stopping in this shop. My family tried a few different flavors and they were all fantastic.

This last time I opted for the split scoop waffle cone. For the top I chose the Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge and the bottom, the Bananas Foster with Candied Pecans. It was delicious! Such intense flavors! The favorite of the two was definitely the Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge. If you're a peanut butter lover, this is the one for you! They also have some pretty awesome merch to purchase as well and the Tacolate collaboration with Taco Bell is a must the next time I go. They also had Tacolate sauce pack keychains to purchase too! Service was also great as the person was extremely patient as the family was sampling their wide array of options. The kids were loving every moment too! Will be heading back soon for another treat! Tacolate if it's still available!

Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

My friend and I stayed in line for 20 minutes before we were able to place our order, we had only 10 minutes to spare before our tickets at the Aratani Theatre. We wanted to have the milk and 8-bit boysenberry swirl soft serve in a cup. Unfortunately, we realized that we had to decide between possibly not being led into our reserved seat at the theater or missing out on this delicious dessert. It was just a matter of not realizing how long it would take. I don't blame Somisomi because they had a huge number of ahbong to make fresh, and of course, there was no way to cut in line We ended up telling the lovely staff that we had to leave, and to please give our orders under "Coco" to someone for free so it wouldn't be wasted. I'm sure it would've been tart and delicious!! The staff were working hard and very patient. They sometimes had to call names three times to get a response for adding toppings. If you go there and it's crowded, please be patient and also please be ready to go up to claim your order right away for the sake of the waiting hungry crowd ;)!
