Yummmmy!!! I spent at least 10 minutes looking at the menu deciding what to choose because every option looks delightful. It's the perfect place for a sweet treat on the beach, the vibes are immaculate. -1star because they charge $1 to flip the cone into a cup, I feel like it's too big for one person so sharing in a cup is the only way for me to eat it.
Located on the boardwalk, this spot has a bunch of delicious treats. I definitely suggest you check it out. - The Collins are unique and fluffy. In addition to being tasty, the cone is well adored with extras such as chocolate sauce, and cookie crumbles. - I appreciate that the item is served with a wooden spoon... Much better than plastic.

With buttery, soft and chewy layers encrusted in sugar crystals that remind me of a super pillowy donut, these chimney cake cones are the perfect decadent addition to your soft serve or gelato. You can find this scrumptious, freshly made Czech dessert speciality (as well as ice cream, gelatos and shakes) at @turndough , the first chimney cake shop in LA! I've probably walked by this little hidden gem of an ice cream shop a million times on Santa Monica/Venice boardwalk, and I would highly recommend stopping by on a hot day to get a refreshing sweet treat that is lovingly made fresh to order! I am always looking for a yummy soft serve. Turn Dough was beyond that and more. I had the soft serve with pistachio and honey inside a churro cone. It was soooo good, but a big portion for more than I can handle. I suggest sharing it with someone. My son had the Strawberry shake which he of course raved about. It was a nice treat to end the evening walk at Venice Beach. It's a stall on the strand so if you're out walking, this would be a nice treat to have. Keep in mind that it is on the strand so you will have to pay for parking around the corner or at any of the parking lots near by. The service was on point. Thank you D for your kind hospitality and being patient as we looked through the menu. Thank you also for the recommendation.
So bright! It's hard to miss! I was craving soft serve while skating on the beach trail and this place caught my eye. It's a big pop of color with a side seating area. The portions here are pretty large, I was barely able to finish my ice cream even though I ordered the smallest thing on the menu. I had so many questions about how I was able to customize my order. The lady on the cash register was very kind and patient answering all my questions. I got soft serve in a cup with recess pieces. So milky and creamy, definitely hit the spot!
Turn Dough is at Venice Beach, and their logo will draw you in to see what they're about! The employee was helpful and answered all my questions to help me make the best choice. I ordered the baked cinnamon cone, vanilla bean, with a Captain Crunch and fruity pebble mix on top. It was really fun to eat while watching the skateboarder on the beach!
4th of July/2023: After enjoying a fun event on Venice Beach Boardwalk, on an incredibly sunny day, my friend & I were craving something cold & yummy to cool down; Turn Dough hit the spot! Matcha Kit Kat: Yummy vanilla bean Gelato with pretty much Matcha everything, including organic row matcha powder, matcha Kit Kat bar(Yum!) & matcha syrup! I enjoyed every single spoonful! Loved the flavors! Chimney Cone: Firm, placed in a cup, along w/a pretty Pink Spoon, which I'm grateful for; sunny day...it became a bit messy! Incredibly happy they gave me two wet Hand Wipes, because they definitely came in handy! While the cone was tasty, next time I'll try another flavor in just a cup! Maybe another flavor goes better with the Chimney Cone...hmmm! Location: Right on Oceanfront Walk, along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, in the heart of Venice Beach, where all of the action is! Overall: Friendly customer service, excellent location, grateful I can easily walk over, enjoyed the Matcha flavors, so I'll definitely return & try more flavors...in a cup! Fun to watch them make the cinnamon rolled dough cup. I do recommend not getting Nutella or chocolate. It's just too much on it. The Boba shake was one of the best we've had.
Came here for dessert. The portion is huge so we got the artisan gelato Nutella bowl to share. The base was vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is pretty average but what made it good was the amount of toppings they mixed with the Ice cream. There was a good amount of chocolate, Nutella, strawberries, and kindered bueno so that every bite was delicious. They have so many options. Looking forward to returning to try their other flavors. Hard to find street parking but they have paid parking lots ($10) just steps away. The parking attendant was nice enough to allow us to park for free while we quickly ordered our ice cream.
We came here craving ice cream on a Friday night in Venice. It's located right in the area where there are a lot of restaurant and shops all facing the water. I ordered the brownie flavor in the cinnamon cone and it was about $13 pre-tip. It came with 2 brownie pieces and a good amount of chocolate drizzle with a base of vanilla soft serve. The cone was smaller than I anticipated, other pictures showed the cone being visible outside the cup but mine was smaller than the size of the cup. They gave us wet wipes to clean up afterwards, which was appreciated. Overall a bit pricy but expected for a beachfront ice cream stand.

Brought my foodie girl friend to this World Famous Chimney Cakes with Ice Cream shop located in Venice Beach, and we are so impressed with their customer service and the delicious icy treats. Their cones and ice cream are handcrafted daily from scratch. Street parking is available but it might be crowded on the weekends, this shop is walking distance to the beach so the views are STUNNING. The girl who introduces the menu and helps us order is SUPER helpful and she is very sweet and friendly. What an amazing experience!!! Matcha Milkshakes | $11.90 -- very smooth texture, well blended matcha powder with the handcrafted vanilla ice cream, topped with matcha wafer candies. Ferrero Rocher Ice Cream Cone | $13.90 -- surprisingly it's not too sweet and pretty organic taste. Creamy soft serve topped with three Ferrero Rocher chocolate. Located at the heart of the Venice boardwalk; is the very cute sweet treat shop Turn Dough! With it's bright pastel painted exterior; this is the spot to go to if you're looking for the ulitmate dessert. On the menu of Turn Dough is belgian waffles, soft serve gelato, milkshakes and chimney cakes! For those who don't know what chimney cakes are; they are a traditional snack from Hungary that is made from sweet yeast dough that is rolled into a long rope and baked around a cylinder. Here at Turn Dough; you can actually watch them make and bake the chimney cake. It was really hard to choose what dessert to get here as everything looked so yummy. This place happens to be the first place to offer chimney cake in Los Angeles and so you know I just had to try that. Even choosing which chimney cake to get was hard! They've got 18 different types or you can even create your own! From oreo to nutella to coconut to Disney inspired or unicorn inspired; they've got something for everyone! I ended up getting the very cute Minnie Macaron chimney cake which has Italian-style soft-serve gelato, French Macarons, Rainbow sprinkles, and a handmade Minnie Mouse bow on top. It was definitely a magical Disney inspired creation. We also got the Nutella Dream. This one is a must try for Nutella lovers. It's a chocolate delight that even includes Kinder chocolates! Tastewise; I really liked the freshly baked chimney cakes from here. The chimney cakes are so soft and fluffy. My gelato ice cream melted pretty quickly but I still enjoyed the sweet, creamy soft serve. One has the option to get the chimney cake upside down in a cup and I have to say that is not a bad option because it helps with eating the ice cream and you won't have to worry about the oozy, dripping mess hehe that you will get a with a cone. We were visiting the area and looking for some ice cream. We found this after spending the day at the Santa Monica pier. It was easy to find and near the skate park at Venice Beach. We ordered a vanilla shake for our son, and my husband and I shared a Nutella Dream. The service was great - the young woman at the window provided her recommendations and set expectations that it would be about 10 mins as I think the cone was made fresh. Overall, it was fine. It was pretty and Instagramable. It fulfilled the ice cream craving, and nothing is ever wrong with Nutella. I will say that given the price and the selling point is the cone, it was a bit overpriced as the cone was just ok for me. I think I wanted it to be a bit sweeter - almost a dessert that stood on its own since you can get to the bottom and only the cone is what is remaining. It was also pretty challenging to eat and got a little messy, but no points knocked for that. So, of course, I took a photo. Between my husband and I, we mostly finished it. Would I buy it again? S'mores Campfirestyle Cinnamon roll roasted Marshmallow Ice cream cone With Chocolate Sauce Caramel. His things over the top foodie heaven. Not the easiest to eat and a little messy but well worth it. The fresh cooked cinnamon roll cone is out of this world stuffed with vanilla ice cream and topped with a roasted marshmallow. A great Recreation of the classic campfire s'mores treat. read more
Stopped by this little shop on our walk down the boardwalk. I was craving something chocolate-y so I got the Kinder shake which had ice cream and lots of chocolate including a whole Kinder stick of candy. There was a little too much whipped cream for me but otherwise I really liked it and would try a different flavor. read more
Will go again / price = ~$13 above average / service = average Turn Dough is different from many other ice cream shops which brought me to my order of the s'mores chimney cake. They place ice cream inside the chimney cake resulting in you getting both ice cream and pastry. Great deal for the price. However, go on an empty stomach as it may be too filling. Cannot speak to all flavors, but the s'mores can lower on sweetness. The inside shell is plastered with Nutella all around. read more

Needed some ice cream in Venice beach and this hit the spot! It's a bit on the pricey side but I assume rent in Venice beach is insane. I will say that the ice cream here is delicious and a definite instagram moment. Had the unicorn gelato bowl and the flavors matched along with looking pretty for pictures. What's better than ice cream by the beach? Turn Dough's staff was great and offered a friendly smile! We loved the chimney cake cones and how cute our unicorn ice cream was! It was a rainy day when we made a stop here. Even with a line, the service was quick. I had the Coconut Raffaelo dessert and it was the perfect taste of coconut! The sweetness level was not overly powering and I was able to finish full cup! We would make a stop again! read more

Hands down the best ice cream on the West Coast! They make the chimney cake cones fresh - meaning when you order it they roll the dough into a cone and bake it for 5-6 minutes then add cinnamon. They can put Nutella, chocolate and other spreads on the inside of the cone. They have a ton of different toppings to choose from. I had the fruity pebbles and my cone tasted like cereal ice cream. My friends had Oreo and matcha cones as well. The owner David is really friendly as well as the staff. Ice cream is not too sweet so the toppings don't overpower it. They have Nutella and chocolate syrup that hardens (straight from Austria!). If you're at Venice Beach don't leave without trying Turn Dough! Please support your local businesses! read more
I can count in my fingertips the number of businesses I have written an updated review. For me, it's always been "it is, what it is". Very seldom that I go back but there are times that another visit is warranted. Turn Dough deserved another chance after a disastrous first visit. It took me almost a year to come back but I'm happy to be able to do so. A year passed and realized that they had way more flavors than they initially had. That's good since I do believe, "the more, the merrier". I decided on a tutti fruitie, a sundae on a Nutella-filled chimney cone garnished with fresh blueberry and strawberry then drizzled with more Nutella on top. I really enjoyed it this time around. Loved every scoop of that sundae which I finished all the way to the bottom of the cone but the fun didn't stop there as I started working on the warm, soft chimney cone. Excellent customer service provided by David and Anastasia. This recent experience definitely motivated me more into making another trip to Venice Beach. Thinning now the next flavor I should choose. read more
What a fun little icecream shop amongst many fun little shops! They have a bigger menu with more options than most on the boardwalk as far as icecream and desserts. They even have a churro sundae with gold flake for about $32. I got a churro cone with reese's but you can't really see the churro in the picture. It was just "okay". Pricey for what it was. The cone was delicious but the "gelato" was watery/icey and not creamy. The women working was pleasant. This place is a one and done type of thing. My wife loved this place and infact any ice cream lover will love this. Great designer fancy ice creams and on a churros style cone. The attention to details is incredible in making this one for each order. Looks great , taste great - what else you need. Only 1 drawback is the price, almost every option cost $8-10. But you gotta pay that much for the effort they put in making these designers ice cream. My wife took this opportunity to go for birthday cake icecream and celebrate last day of my birthday month. read more
This was our first time trying Turn Dough and what a wonderful surprise it was! First off the ladies who work there are super friendly! They greet you as you approach the window and are extremely helpful. I asked for her opinion and I am glad I took her advice. You can actually watch as they make the cones fresh and as they assemble each desert masterpiece!!! My husband ordered the Oreo in a cup and I ordered the brownie in a cone. The brownie topping was moist and just the right sweetness. The cone was scrumptious! I'm a churro addict so I appreciated the cinnamon cones! It was soft with a little crunch. I usually never finish the cone when I eat ice cream but I just had to eat it all up!!! I love that the cones are also lines with Nutella!!! It adds a little something special to an already amazing dessert! This was a perfect treat on this hot summer day. We had the best time! We knew the Hollywood location but when I saw them at Venice we had to try it! As always, it was delicious! We got the Nutella, Raffaelo and Bday Cake, that by the way was the best. It comes with a candle and they give you matches. That was funny! Found tables close by. We had a yummy time. read more

Yes you can, cone shape not cylinder as in Europe.
Do you closed at 9pm on Monday's? That's what your website states but I just got here at 8:15pm and the staff has shut down all the ordering windows.
