Love the unique flavors they have here and love it even more bc it's all non dairy!!!! (Shout out to my lactose intolerant kings and queens) also love how each Awan store has the most interesting architecture and vibe. They only let you sample a couple flavors so choose wisely. Their flavors change pretty often but they do have a few flavors that are a staple there. My siblings like to get pints and drive it all the way back to Orange County (yes, seriously) I can never say no to Awan if I'm in the area.

Oh my goodness. We are STOKED to have stumbled on Awan! The gentleman that helps us-- was to patient with the kiddos letting them try flavors. It's a small little walk through counter with very limited seating. We loved and appreciated all of the Indo flavors. The matcha was the best earthy matcha we've had in ice cream. The mandarin was SUPER refreshing and a crowd pleaser. The sesame was also super tasty and unique from most other black sesame ice cream. The ice cream base was so silky for coconut. The kiddos loved the Oreo-- but the parentals really enjoyed all the specialty flavors. Do yourself a favor, if you're close, stop by, and try all the seasonal because they surely won't disappoint.

No offense but when I think vegan I don't necessarily think Ice cream, but Awan definitely made this work! (You can taste test all the flavors!) I had Balinese Vanilla and for a vegan, dairy-free ice cream, the texture was insanely rich and creamy. You still get that smooth, indulgent feel without it tasting artificial or watered down like a lot of dairy-free spots. There's a slight coconut aftertaste from the base, but it's subtle and actually complements the flavor instead of overpowering it. The Indonesian-inspired concept makes it feel unique compared to your average ice cream shop. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different that still tastes legit.

Where have you been all my life Awan? Awan has officially become my go-to for something sweet, creamy and delicious. The Venice space is slightly small but it's fine. The merch in my opinion is a tad overpriced and won't be buying anything soon except maybe some pints of ice cream. In terms of the actual ice cream. The scoops are actually pretty generous and it's like elevated in terms presentation etc. I happen to be vegan but if you aren't you simply cannot argue with me over how creamy and tasty it is. I'm a vanilla lover and I found the vanilla to be one of the best vegan vanillas I've ever had. The pineapple is also amazing. The strawberry wasn't life changing but all the flavors are just so creamy and decadent in their own way; that you can count on. To note, there is also a little window you go to to get your ice cream, which can be annoying if it's crowded and you literally can't get over there. In my opinion they could just hand it to you, but sure. All in all I want and Awan in every city. Obsessed :)

My favorite vegan ice cream in LA! I've tried their West Hollywood location and I'm so glad they've added one to Venice! Their flavors are so unique with very thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and the portions are perfect. I highly recommend any of their fruit flavors, the gaviota strawberry is divine and their pineapple pandan is the perfect balance of tart and creamy! I like how none of their flavors are too sweet either, and even though they do use a coconut cream base there isn't a super strong or overpowering coconut flavor. There's little standing tables inside and a bench outside, but this is definitely more of a to-go window with limited seating.

Delicious vegan ice cream! I've been wanting to try Awan for a while now and after seeing the collab with REM beauty, I had to check it out. I went on a Sunday morning and there wasn't a line. Staff were super friendly with helping me sample and choose flavors. The Love Spell flavor was super delicious. It was the perfectly blend of fruity and tart. Overall, great spot for a treat!

AWAN is one of my favorite ice cream places! It's high quality Indonesian ice cream that's vegan and delicious (and I'm not even vegan)!! Their seasonal flavors are ALWAYS worth getting even if it's $1 extra. I personally love all their fruit flavors when I'm a chocolate and milk ice cream kinda gal so this says a lot. They have the best unique flavors rotating from their seasonal menu. I really love the Venice location because they had all the flavors to try whereas other locations they run out fast. My favorite was the: Shinko Pear and Ginger (5/5): It had a sweet, fruity shinko Asian pear base that was tangy and tasted like butterscotch undertones with the creaminess. I loved that it has tiny bits of crystallized ginger that went SO well with the refreshing and creamy pear base. Was a perfect pick me up to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Finally got to try Awan after hearing about the hype and uniqueness of the flavors. Flavors were definetly made with real ingredients and You can't find these flavors anywhere, definetly very unique. I think they rotate flavors. The flavors today weren't the same ones I saw on yelp before. They let you sample. Tried shinko pear and ginger. It had the sweetness of the pear paired with a touch of ginger. The ginger lingers in the after taste. I didn't get this one but I like the concept. The Thai tea and black sesame butter was pretty good as well. I'd say the black sesame butter was the dominant flavor. You still get that Thai tea flavor, but not as bold as the black sesame Strawberry had a bit of tart to it, mentioned it was organic. For a price of a single scoop is $8, which is kind of expensive. Also parking in the neighborhood is a bit hard, good if you get lucky finding street parking, but if not you might have to walk a little further The workers were nice let you try all the flavors if needed so that you can select the one that fits your taste. They were really nice and understand that these aren't your typical ice cream flavors so they let you try as much as you need to pick your favorite.

I am not a vegan, but man this icecream is the shit. I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite icecream spots in LA. I would never know that there is no dairy in the ice creams. It is perfectly creamy without being too sweet. I love how they have a seasonal menu. My first time coming I had their cantaloupe which was amazing. This time I got their orange. The orange reminded me of a creamsicle. Super cool ambiance as well. I love how the interior reminds me of a hidden cave. The icecream comes out of this little door within the cave. Pretty neat.

Vegan ice cream! This place is a cool location that looks like it's made of colorful stucco. You walk into a small room and there is a guy who will let you try the various flavors. We tried a cranberry one that I didn't like, but the cookies and cream one was delicious. It's kind of funny how you order it, then go to a little vestibule to the side where a window opens up and it comes out. It's a bit pricey, my friend said the to go container are like $30. I got the "child" cup and it was $6. it was very good, kind of reminds me a little of real Italian gelato.

Finally got to try Awan after seeing it on social media for a while. For vegan "ice cream" the flavors are truly robust , fresh, and tastes very natural and organic. We got the coconut cream/vanilla and the mandarin flavor and it was very refreshing. The palm sugar at the end is also a nice touch.

Having its outlet stood next to Dayglow, Awan was such attention stealer with its peculiar design, giving the vibe of entering a gorgeously designed cave to me. Not to mention, the color they featured was one of my favorite! On any weekdays they wouldn't be open until 3pm, while on weekend they would come earlier by noon. Good news was you could have it as post-dinner dessert given they would only be closed by 10pm. So long day-light during summer surely made it just perfect. Some of the flavor selections, either from the core or the seasonal ones, weren't like any you could easily find elsewhere. Even for the ones that might sound bit familiar like strawberry or vanilla or even oreo, they kinda featured their own unique selling point by mixing it with distinctive ingredients. Bringing a touch of Indonesia, I was really impressed that they presented the iconic brown sugar from my very own home country! Trust me, if you wondered it's just brown sugar, you'd better save that thought aside and gave it a try then thanked me later. If you're worried about dairy, this was certainly the answer for you as their ice cream was dairy free, using coconut milk. If you're unsure which flavors you might fancy, they did offer tasting. The single scoop cup was 5oz, but there's petite version at 3oz. If you're kind of indecisive like me or just want more mix of flavors, go for the split scoop, which was basically 2 scoops of the kid size. TBH I tried Awan already before and went for their Vanilla and Matcha, which I thought was OKAYish but bit too pricey. This second try hooked me stronger especially their Salted Caramel Gula Jawa, which used the earlier-called brown sugar shavings on top. That topping surely elevated the overall flavor, and I would recommend pair it with probably refreshing fruit-based ones or something with tangy note. In my case I paired it with the Nekohama Hojicha, which was maybe not the right decision as it made the Hojicha one tasted too subtle, which I guessed because the first one carried quite vibrant taste. NGL still think it's tad steep, particularly as I went for one seasonal flavor, which meant +$1 landing this split scoop at $11. Will I come back? YES, am still intrigued by all other flavors I haven't tried, and I am also appreciating the effort introducing home-country ingredients here! Thinking out loud, prolly the reason behind the price tag.

    Samantha D.

The staff, the ice cream, the aesthetic, the look, all of it was GRAND. The staff were so sweet as our kids kept asking for sample after sample. The flavors are so yummy! But they were out of the 2 flavors we reaaaally wanted! Otherwise, it was such a cute place! Definitely a must try!

Everyone seemed to recommend this place, so I figured it had to be worth the hype. Plot twist: I didn't realize it was vegetarian until I was already looking at the menu. Normally I'd be a little skeptical, but WOW... I never once found myself wishing there was meat on my plate. I ordered the Spicy Italian pizza, the oyster mushroom "calamari," and a glass of wine, and every single bite was delicious. That pizza though... It was hands-down the star of the meal. Crispy crust, packed with flavor, and honestly one of those pizzas I'd happily drive back to Venice just to eat again. The oyster mushroom "calamari" was also surprisingly convincing. Crispy, flavorful, and a really fun twist on a classic appetizer. And here's the real review: I took the leftover pizza home for my parents, and we all know leftover pizza can be hit or miss. Somehow this one was STILL amazing straight from the fridge. That alone deserves bonus points. If you're shopping on Abbott Kinney and need a break (or if you're just looking for a really great meal), don't let the vegetarian menu fool you. Even this meat lover left completely satisfied. I'll absolutely be back... mostly because I'm already thinking about that pizza.

Unfortunately, my experience at Great White in Venice left me disappointed, and the main reason was the service. First, we arrived around 9:15 a.m. after seeing that the restaurant opened at 8:00 a.m., only to find out that opening had been delayed until 9:30 a.m. Honestly, that wasn't a problem at all. We waited outside, and when guests started arriving, we got in line and ended up being among the first few parties seated. The food itself was good, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. My issue was with our server, Nate. I understand that everyone has bad days, and I also work in the hospitality industry, so I try to be very understanding. However, the service felt extremely cold, detached, and uninterested from the beginning to the end of our meal. I'm not expecting over-the-top friendliness or a formal introduction, but there was virtually no warmth, no engagement, and no sense that he wanted to be there. Throughout our visit, an older gentleman working on the floor (possibly a busser or food runner) showed far more hospitality, attentiveness, and genuine care for guests than our actual server did. After we had finished eating, I ordered an orange juice while waiting for some pancakes to-go. I was asked whether I wanted the juice for here or to-go, and I specifically requested it for here. I then waited approximately 30 minutes. During that time, I received my check, paid my bill (including a generous tip), and watched multiple tables that had been seated after us receive their drinks and food while I continued waiting. My server walked by several times, looked in our direction, but never followed up or asked if we were still waiting on anything. Eventually, I flagged down another server, who was very kind and immediately looked into the situation. She returned and explained that the orange juice had apparently never made it onto the screen. However, I had taken a photo of my receipt, and the orange juice was clearly listed and charged. The issue was never the $10 orange juice. Mistakes happen. We all make them. The disappointing part was that nobody simply acknowledged the mistake or offered a sincere apology. A quick "I'm sorry, that was my mistake" would have completely changed the experience. One additional observation: I was told that cash is only accepted if you have the exact amount. That's perfectly fine, but I think that policy should be clearly posted at the entrance or on the restaurant's website so guests know beforehand. Again, I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I genuinely wanted to leave a positive one because the food and atmosphere were enjoyable. Unfortunately, hospitality is about more than just delivering food to a table. Based on this experience, it seemed that our server either dislikes working in customer service or was having a very bad day. Either way, many other staff members we interacted with demonstrated the warmth, energy, and hospitality that guests hope to experience when dining out.

Once freshening up, we all walked from my place up the boardwalk to Belles Beach House! Excellent customer service, a variety of delicious dishes and an inviting atmosphere made for a memorable dining experience! 2 Orders of Crispy Rock Shrimp | Shared | This dish was a vibe, and one of my favorites! Plentiful, memorable flavorful & you can't just eat one... You'll keep craving more, which we all did! I highly recommend! Miso Maple Salad | Shared | I selected this salad, it was unique, has quite the bite to it, and I enjoyed it! I would order again! Includes crispy, quinoa, heart of palm, jicama, avocado, snow peas, gem lettuce, and miso maple! Garlic Butter Noodles | Shared | What a favorable combo! I would easily order again! Passion Fruit Mousse | Shared | I took a bite, which was yummy! If an island had a flavor, I feel this would be it! Haha! 2 Orders of Spicy Tuna & Salmon Avocado Roll | Shared | Yum! Both were delicious & The spicy tuna roll was my niece's favorite dish! Sharing is Caring | Shareable plates were my idea, as there were five of us! Why not sample the menu in all of its glory, as well as order a little something, each of us like?! After all, it was my first time dining here! Though all of us enjoyed the shrimp, one bowl of the shrimp was definitely enough for all of us! We didn't know the portion would be so huge! Family Affair | It was exciting having family in town to visit & I selected this restaurant for lunch! I knew that they appreciated places that were aesthetic, as well as had great food! Belles Beach House served Island Glam & memorable bites! There She Glows | She naturally glows, once you step inside, the lighting is so nice! It's such a beautiful place! A extra large seashell, as well as larger than life, wooden carved tiki figures, front and center greet you at the door... full-on Island vibe! I love the decor; wicker lamps, plush seating, including a few long tables, which are great for groups! Customer Service | Everyone that arrived at our table was super friendly, attentive easily, service with a smile, even though the place was super busy! While I couldn't remember everyone's name, Ryan's name was on the receipt as the server! Thanks again to everyone! Reservations Please | She's very popular! I highly recommend making reservations, unless you want to wait! If you have to wait, at least you're at the beach, walk around, look inside the shops, & maybe even put your feet in the sand! I had booked online with my card, which they request ahead of time! Los Angeles Food & Wine Event | I first tried flavorful dishes from Belles Beach House, while attending this event, solo! I enjoyed the samples and knew I would eventually dine at the restaurant! Friday Night Vibe | As part of our spontaneous girls night out, we stopped by for a bit and this place was packed! Good vibes all around and the atmosphere gets me every time, it's such a beautiful sight, very pretty place! I even saw the extended part of the restaurant that I had not seen before; the wraparound bar and more tables! Overall | She's beautiful, not only naturally glows, but forever memorable! She's Belles Beach House! Each dish arriving at our table was presented in a beautiful way, flavor upon flavor with every bite, and the atmosphere was very inviting, including excellent customer service!

When we arrived, the entrance was constantly blocked by the hostess and security chatting. One staff member told me to head to the bar to order, but security then acted like I was doing something wrong. A little communication between staff would go a long way. At the bar, I was skipped twice while waiting to order. When I pointed it out, the bartender told me to "hold on" while assisting a 3rd walk up after me. I asked if we could move to an open table with table service as there were many empty for ghe hour we had already been there and was told no because they were too busy. Fair enough, but that's exactly when management should be visible, coordinating staff and helping guests. Instead, when I spoke with a manager, the response was essentially that he was focused on the bar area. Good management oversees the entire operation, especially during peak periods. I was one of 5 people in our party who spent around $100 on food and drinks (apx $500 spent in total), yet the service was a mess. If it's self-service, that's fine...but make it clear and make it work. Instead, I was skipped at the bar while ordering, staff gave conflicting directions, and there was virtually no support once we had our food. We found ourselves constantly going back and forth to the bar for drinks, utensils, soy sauce, and anything else we needed. No one checked in, and getting help from staff or management was nearly impossible. The food was decent, but the customer experience wasn't. Venice Beach is always busy. This shouldn't come as a surprise. If you're going to market yourself as part of that vibrant community, you need the operational standards to match.

You can find them in the Colony Kitchen in Venice, then order from the kiosk. Covered outdoor seats are available for dining in or you can take your eats to go. I've had minimal interactions with staff here as it's a grab & go type of place, but on my first visit, someone did ask how everything was! You don't often see that at ghost kitchens. Now, Talo Organic does a lot of great things like being seed oil free, grass-fed pasture raised beef only, no preservatives they pay attention to their cooking utensils and pans making sure to use stainless steel cookware. But one thing that has plagued our meats both time we've been here? Dryness! If meat is your main thing and the flavor is great, why not have it nice and juicy to boot!? Sigh! I still like it, but usually moreso when it's in my leftovers at home and I can properly cook it. When honestly, it should be best right there in person. Now that being said, I still like Talo Organic and have enjoyed everything I've tried protein wise - Barbacoa, Chicken and Steak - were all delicious. Just needed the dryness eradicated in each. Their beef tallow fries were also really tasty! Plus they give you helpful reheating options. Overall, I love having a healthy option like this and like the flavor, but let me know when you all fix up the dryness a bit for me & my friends to come back!

We were hopping around happy hours in Venice and decided this would be our third and final stop since we have been wanting to check it out. The vibe & the restaurant is beautiful. If you are two people, then you will be seated at the two tops which are so uncomfortably close to each other, you literally feel like you're having dinner with the people to your right and left. There is like 2 inches of space between each table! Upon seating, we were offered still or sparkling water, went for regular water. The server explained the menu and initially everything felt standard and fine. When we were ready to order, we selected two pasta dishes and a Caesar salad. At that point, the server paused and said our order was "kind of light" and that that sounds like more of "a light meal." in what world is it OK to make comments about someone's order?? and he asked if we were very hungry before his comment then I may have cut some slack. But the comment felt unnecessary and a bit judgmental, as if we were being encouraged to order more food rather than simply choosing what we wanted. It made us feel uncomfortable honestly. We explained that we had been hopping between happy hour spots and this was our third stop, and he simply acknowledged it and walked away. Overall, the food was really good but the service was ok at best. Our server pretty much disappeared after that and we didn't see him until it was time for dessert which we did order the affogato. At that point, I'm not sure why but another server took over our table and he was much friendlier. He mentioned that if we were from the area that we should come back and check out the nightlife because it turns into a club lounge that gets really fun on weekends. We appreciated his rec and he was great but that particular interaction with the previous guy took away from the experience. I'd still come back because the food was really good and I wanna try other things on the menu.

I was really surprised and told my friend, ok vegan food doesnt look hard to make! She started laughing lol Service was great, lots of seating inside. There is street parking and also a public garage around the corner. I had a great time and did enjoy the food however, im not sure what it could have been but i was using the restroom a lot the next day. I typically eat a lot of veggies so im not sure what it was. I joked with my friend, no wonder you're skinny, i felt like i had a colon cleanse LOL Eating here opened me up to trying new spots that are vegan!
