I've been here a few times over the years already, well before the matcha craze--Midori is definitely one of the OG SoCal matcha spots. But I wanted to leave a review because the girl (I forgot to ask her name, sadly) who helped me today was really lovely! I bought 30g of their matcha and admittedly thought when they didn't give it to me at the counter that they forgot, but I sat down at a table to eat my ice cream and decided to just ask for it after I finished. Thank goodness I did, because the cashier came up to my table about 10 minutes later and handed me a little bag of fresh-ground matcha. She took a second to explain to me how to store it and keep it fresh, and I just really appreciated the extra bit of customer service, even if it's something they're maybe expected to do. When I have the money, I'll definitely come back and get their 100g pack! Drinks are fine, I'll stop by very occasionally, can come out a little slow from the way things look like its run. They don't offer much freedom with how drinks are made which is very odd for a drink shop especially costing $8-10 per drink. Cashiers are fine, but robotic especially with their constant upselling. Their iced matcha drink is fantastic--it gives you a nice, elevated energy boost that feels totally different from a standard coffee high. The matcha has a very rich, deep umami taste that manages to be both refreshing and creamy at the same time. Beyond the drinks, they also have incredible matcha soft serve and a bunch of other matcha goodies to try. Prices are pretty comparable to Starbucks, but the quality and experience are on a completely different level. Midori Matcha Cafe is a popular matcha shop located in Weller Court in Little Tokyo. I had always walked past this shop and it was not until recently that I finally had a chance to visit this shop. [Parking]: I typically park at the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St). Unfortunately, the lot has a new parking rate starting in January 2026 with $1 per hour for the first two hours, $5 for each additional hour, and a $6 flat rate after 5 PM. I do not recommend the designated parking garage at Weller Court as the rate is $4 for every 15 minutes (unless you get validation from Marukai Market after spending over $25.) [Atmosphere & service]: The cafe has indoor seating with public outdoor tables also available. Personally this shop has more of a grab-and-go vibe. I was not a fan when the cashier asking whether I wanted to upgrade my drink from 16 oz to 24 oz and whether I wanted to buy a cookie. [Menu]: Some of Yelp's top recommended drinks include the Iced Matcha Latte, Strawberry Matcha Latte, and Iced Hojicha Latte. The shop also offers matcha or hojicha soft serve ice cream. While exploring downtown LA/ Koreatown with friends we stopped in for some ice cream. I love a good matcha latte and was excited to try it in ice cream form. There was a bit of a line but it went pretty fast. There was not much seating inside but on the outside it's like a mini mall and there's plenty of seating. Such a yummy dessert spot! It's climbed to be one of my favorites in all of LA! The matcha soft serve is my go-to, while my friend got the hojicha-matcha swirl. He said it wasn't too sweet and had lovely bitter, more earthy notes from the hojicha. I am a matcha fan so I just stick with 100% matcha flavor, but both options are solid! The soft serve is such a yummy texture that's perfectly creamy and dusted with matcha powder for an extra kick. It tastes rich and authentic, without any grassy notes typical of cheap matcha. I walked away very meh about this place. I ordered the iced lavender hojicha latte and my friend ordered the matcha with soft serve. My drink tasted watered down and had kind of that "diet" taste. It may be the syrup they used. My friend also said she has had better matcha. The service could have been friendlier too. Stumbled upon this place and I wanted something very refreshing so I decided to walk in. The worker told me their seasonal drink is a mango Matcha, which is very tropical with coconut flakes on top so that's exactly what I got along with a serves swirl. Minutes later, both were ready and wow. The soft serve was very delicious, it was not too sweet at all and it had a dusted Matcha powder on top, which gave it a very nice earthy flavor. The mango Matcha, which is a seasonal drink was extremely delicious. They told me that the mango purée is made in house and it really did taste like homemade. I'll definitely be back again soon. It costed around $8 for a 24oz matcha latte, which I should have listened to to my instinct and ordered a 16oz so I didn't have to throw away. Their matcha quality wasn't great and the drink was sweetened with syrups or somethings that wasn't natural, which gave me a bad feeling in the throat whenever I took a sip. I passed by them multiple times and saw a line but on a weekday morning, it was empty. Kind of confused on why a matcha place in Little Tokyo could be this disappointing. This little hole in the wall spot inside little Tokyo contains a well made drink /ice cream mix. The drinks were great and provided in a tall beverage size (24oz). (The size you would only find matcha in Orange County.) Also, the soft serve matcha ice cream was delicious and I recommend to ask for the mix that's half/half to get the best of both flavors. The service is great and they accommodate when you're trying to get drinks to go. However, they do not have a bathroom and the pastry's are very unflattering. The only pastry I recommend is the matcha brownie. The rest are not my cup of matcha. I give this spot a 7/10. The lack of bathroom and pastry selection is what reduces it, but besides that, everything else is great! read more

MIDORI MATCHA CAFE has been on my list as a cafe that serves "authentic" matcha. Can't remember if I read that from or what social media clip I saw that from, but now I got to try it, right?! Good matcha is not as prevalent in LA as good coffee. And this was VERY GOOD. I don't know how, but their STRAWBERRY MATCHA is delicious, rich, and not sweet. Not sweet? Even with the strawberry?! Still tastes earthy? How is this possible? Magic?! The MATCHA SOFT SERVE is delicious. I really should stop consuming matcha in these forms. Maybe next time, I'll get a straight up matcha tea. Stumbled upon Midori Matcha Cafe during a day outing in Little Tokyo. There was another similar matcha cafe nearby that seemed more popular but I picked Midori because they had my favorite, hojicha soft serve. I imagine this place gets busy sometimes but we thankfully strolled in and were able to order immediately. Staff were kind and welcoming and we got our ice cream quickly. I personally loved the initial taste which was rich and had a good texture with microfoams, but disliked the ending grassy/vegetal flavor profile. I parked at the Japanese Village Plaza Parking Garage ($4 every 15 minutes) and walked to this place after I finished checking out the other stores in that area. This store was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. The line wasn't too bad, and I was able to get a seat and table to wait for our order. When the order was ready, the lady came out with the drinks and brought us our drinks. We got the Matcha Latte (Iced), Matchacano, and Matcha/Hojicha Soft Serve. Love the spyxfamily theme collab! All the items were in stock when we went a few weeks ago. The decorations are cute too. We got the bond drink which was really good and surprisingly not super sweet. We also got the loid matcha soft serve which unfortunately left a lot to be desired. It was quite icy and not creamy like other premium matcha places. There was also a huge gaping hole in the middle (see photo). Aside from that, the prize redemption is a bit confusing. They had a promo where you spend x amount of $ and get a free coaster or something, but it only applied to collab menu items and not their entire menu. Not only that- merch and food items are rung up separately so if you wanted the prize, you'd need to spend more to hit the amount on food items only or merch items only. I was in the area and needed a caffeine boost. This place was busy, with a long line even during the week, so I knew it must be good. While they take a little longer to process orders, I didn't mind because it seemed they were intentionally spacing out drink preparation to avoid overwhelming the staff. Loved visiting Midori Matcha Cafe! This place is a must for any matcha appreciator. The matcha was rich and strong, seems to be pretty authentic/traditional in my opinion! Service was super helpful and kind, the barista even told us to let them know for any modifications if we weren't happy when handing us our beverages. I have to shoutout that I'm extremely pleased with no upcharging for non dairy milks and that there is not just one, but two vegan pastry options! I also believe the pricing is very reasonable for what you're getting, especially in LA. I would love to come back here, I'd like to try something like the rose or lavender matcha next time since the strawberry matcha was a bit too "strawberry-ish" for my taste. I also tried the matcha hot chocolate, which I liked, but don't have much expectation of a hot chocolate type of flavor, it's definitely a drink for a matcha lover. Midori Matcha, apparently a "must visit" spot on everybody's list of go-to's in Little Tokyo. Unfortunately, missed the mark, and missed the mark greatly. The assortment of drinks they have in this location are quite expansive as to what to serve that is matcha related, they even have some hojicha. But ordering the matcha here, it was way too expensive, and way too milky? And a very unpronounced matcha flavor. Could be better in quality, but what really got me was the staff. Not rude or anything, just very indifferent. They seemed to have no sense of urgency, and we went during Nisei Week so it was pretty busy. And when making drinks, they definitely looked like they didn't wanna be there. I come from food service as well, but it made me feel bad for how I'm buying something that seems like a massive chore for them to make. Definitely didn't like that feeling. I also asked for a cup of water and one of the workers rolled their eyes at me, even though it was summer and the outside was 90 degrees Parking is scarce of course in DTLA. The matcha & hojicha swirl was A (5/5)! It was perfectly sweet, but also bitter from the matcha/hojicha in the best ways! I could really taste the quality in the icecream here, depth in the matcha/hojicha flavors and I was super happy about it, it was perfection & love that they top it off with more powder. Then I ordered the blueberry matcha w/ oatmilk. Now the blueberry matcha was a bit disappointing considering the soft serve was SUPER amazing! Blueberry matcha on the other hand felt underwhelming, matcha flavor was lacking & felt too milky, couldn't really taste matcha notes. Blueberry notes were a little more present, but it was an okay drink. Have to give it (3/5). I would suggest switching up the recipe. Overall, quick service, nice workers, had some seating inside for small parties. I would come back here for the softserve alone! Best thing here and super satisfying. We came to Midori Matcha Cafe after one of the LA sparks game and it was ample experience. When we got in line there was only a few people ahead of us, but a few minutes after the line was crazy and out the door. They had a limited time menu and their regular menu items. The cafe is modern and has some decor and benefits of matcha listed. They also had some pastries like cookies and brownies on display. There were vegan options as well. Unfortunately, when it was time to order they were out of some of swirl flavors and some of desserts my wife wanted to order was sold out. I wanted to the Strawberry Matcha Latte with Matcha & Rose soft serve on top, but rose soft serve was out. I ended up getting the Strawberry Matcha Latte with Soft serve Matcha on top which is +$3. It's basically a Matcha Latte float so why not give it a try is what I was thinking. We didn't have to wait long for all our drinks. The seating inside is pretty limited but there are outside tables too. The Matcha Latte float was fine. I wanted to try something different but I think maybe just getting the soft serve and the latte separately would be more enjoyable. Either way their matcha was very good and I do love that they don't charge extra for milk substitutes. Midori has a a lot of reviews and steady customer flow for a reason. LOVE matcha, and this is one of the good stops in Little Tokyo. We've come here for matcha in the past (which was delish!), so on our most recent visit, we decided to shake it up and try their Matcha affogato. Their Matcha affogato is definitely a good twist on the classic affogato. Instead of an espresso pour, it's a more concentrated matcha pour. The matcha itself was delicious, but the ice cream wasn't the best fit - a smoother cream, like a gelato, would've complimented the matcha better.
