I realized how I completely missed a review of this place so I thought that I would circle back around and do one. My wife and I came in to try Lavender after reading reviews and since we were out there for Stagecoach, it made sense. It's definitely off the beaten path and an Uber hike from where we were staying but not a big deal. We sat in the bar area. The restaurant is visually very pleasing. It's quaint but for us, it was really sleepy. We were kind of trying to get more amped up to see live music and this was a lot more laid back and low key than what we were looking for. Their Happy Hour menu was ok but nothing special. We settled on a glass of Pinot Grigio and Champagne. We ordered the House Smoked King Salmon and the Hummus plate which were fine for small plates. It was a rather short dining experience. We closed out shortly after finishing our drinks and then moved on to our next destination. read more

I've been coming here for years, but I'm thinking that my visit on this past Thursday night will be my last. What a total waste of money!! My husband and I both ordered the prime rib special, medium rare. When it arrived and we took our first bite or two it was a bit over cooked for our liking and the outside brine was so heavily flavored with some spice (maybe rosemary I believe) that it was way too strong of a flavor and completely overpowered the flavor of the meat. Spices should enhance & complement the main flavor, not overtake it!! No big deal though, right? As soon as your waiter comes over a few minutes after your food is served to check that everything is ok you tell him you'd prefer something else. The problem is that not only did our waiter not come over at all to check on us, but I couldn't even get a refill on my iced tea. The service was appalling!! Totally non-existent. We were sitting outside, but we could see into the restaurant through the windows we were near and our waiter was just hanging out with the hostess, another waiter or maybe it was a busboy, and some other girl most of the night, just gabbing. After waiting 20 minutes for our waiter to come to check on us and our meal, we gave up. Both my husband and I just ate the very center round part of the meat, which was the rarest area and far enough away from all the outer edge spices that is was edible enough. But we both ate so little of it that it was quite obvious to anyone who saw our plates that we were not pleased with it and had left 80% of the whole meal uneaten. After we were completely done and had been sitting there for about 30 minutes after we had been served, our waiter, Jorge, FINALLY saw us flagging him down and came over. He then FINALLY asked if everything was ok, after seeing that neither one of us had barely touched our food, and I said "well it's too late now, but the meat was too over cooked for us and way too heavily spiced all around the outside edges. We were waiting to get this rectified, but you never came to check on us". All he said was "Oh, I'm so sorry about that." He took our plates and asked if we'd like any dessert, which we declined. We assumed he'd send a manager over or deduct at least something from the bill, but all he did was bring us our $175 check. There was no further apology or mention of being totally ignored, or the horrible meal. We paid the bill in full and left hungry, looking for somewhere else to eat. We immediately headed right down the street to Arnold Palmer's and had great service. We were checked on within 2 minutes after receiving our food, so we praised our waitress for this. She explained that she had been trained at the Ritz Carlton and servers are taught the "2 bite rule", which is that you wait for the customer to taste their food and then you immediately check back in with them to ensure everything is satisfactory. Shame on Lavender for not teaching their servers better protocol, and shame on our server, Jorge, for such horrible service and being more concerned with chatting with his friends then giving his guests decent service!! I planned to let the hostess or manager know how disappointed we were as we were leaving, but once again, there was no one to be found as we walked out because the hostess, our waiter, and 2 other people were still all huddled together laughing & chatting over near the door that led from the inside out, and there was no one upfront to talk to. I've eaten here dozens of times and even bought gift certificates for friends to dine here, but this experience has ruined Lavender for me and this will be my last time. read more

We visited this restaurant recently and there are few restaurants that can exceed the service and food that this establishment provides. There were two small irritations: the music was a bit loud and two hours after opening time, the "special" was gone. Fish doesn't keep more than a day? Our server was great and all food and drink were presented in a timely manner. No looking for the water guy at this place...the glass was always full. We started with the lobster salad, which tasted wonderfully so. Next, for the entree, I "experienced" the sea bass....never had a piece of fish that was slightly crisp on the outside and mouthwateringly tasty on the inside and cooked to perfection on the inside as well. Probably the best fish dish I've ever had. Had a glass of Conundrum that has prompted me to buy a bottle of this elixir as soon as I get to the store.... For dessert, the lava cake was simply the best lava cake I've ever had...and I've tried quite a few. read more

Went for husband's special birthday and Lavender made it even more special. Sat on a gorgeous patio filled with trees, flowers and sparkling lights. Table was set with a birthday card and a little gift box of delicious shortbread cookies. Food and service first rate, from the mushroom soup and Caesar salad--with white anchovies! Mains we ordered were pistachio crusted rack of lamb and sautéed diver scallops. Dessert was homemade berry cobbler topped with ice cream. While menu is mostly "traditional" continental fare, the quality, execution, service and ambiance made for a very special celebration. read more

We randomly selected this for a Sunday evening dinner. The restaurant is very nice with a cool vibe. Unfortunately we did not have a great experience. First we walk in and they ask if we have a reservation. We did not. I asked if we needed one and the two hostesses for some reason could not provide a yes or no answer. It takes a really long pause before they tell us we can eat/drink in the bar area without a reservation. Not sure why it was so hard to figure that out? They don't even bother to show us in. The place is not busy at all and there is TWO hostesses, so I'm not sure why we would need a reservation anyways (the dining room was completely empty, there were people outside though). Our waitress is fine, no spectacular but not at all terrible. I order a coke, which is absolutely flat. We both ordered the 6oz Steak and Frites. The wait time is on the verge of too long. I ordered a side salad which arrived with the main course. I ordered my steak medium rare and my friend ordered hers "as rare as you can make it." Her steak might have been medium and mine might have been medium well. It was also very strange as the steaks came already sliced up. There was far too much sauce on the steak as well. There were some weird interactions throughout the evening. Sunday night football was on the tv in the bar. The staff all screamed when a play happened in the game as they were the only ones watching the game. The older bartender scolded one of the waiters loudly in front of us. I overheard one of the waitresses tell another staff member that the kitchen was slammed with orders (which we were not directly made aware of). The younger bartender never left the bar, he also never washed his hands once. Beautiful restaurant. Everything else extremely average or worse. read more

Tucked away in-between timeshares and corporate businesses, comes an absolutely delight. In a nutshell: Patio 5.0, Food: 3.5, Service: 3.5. On a nice evening (amounts to about 10 per year), this is a must spot. On the night I went (last Saturday, Mothers' Day eve), the very large outdoor patio was jam packed. Inside, which is pretty nice and romantic, was fairly empty, and the bar was about 75% capacity. Patio: great, big, large, amazing, big --- did I say that already? Beautiful outdoor patio with 4 cabanas in the back, 2 decks with seating, large trees spread throughout with white lights. Wonderful. Food: the Lavender salad was totally amazing, but the Roasted Honey Brine Pork Chop was cooked nice over mashed potatoes, but real "porky" almost gamey (3.5 stars). The Seafood Linguine that my Mom ordered was really fishy (3.5 stars). Service: nearly non-existent. Our server wasn't too be seen but a couple of times in over 2 hours of dining. We grabbed nearby servers to assist when needed. Entertainment: 2 to choose from, indoor in the bar, and outside on the patio. A little better than average guy should have stuck with Neil Young, Neil Diamond, or Neil Sedaka -- but chose to go outside of that with Stevie Wonder. The guy butchered it. Not a soulful bone in his body. Inside, a super funny guy with a guitar, played to tracks, and did his own renditions of rock songs, and was actually, very good. The bar is fun and intimate. Summary: go on a nice evening. It's quite versatile -- can be very romantic with the setting, and good enough for a business dinner or a group of friends. read more

For a restaurant like Lavender; they should seriously have valet parking. Last night we spent 15 minutes looking for parking. It was completely full in their overflow lot and had to part on the main street, Avenue 52 and walk 5 minutes. This experience doesn't contribute one bit to a great customer experience. read more

We had been to Lavender's before and was absolutely wonderful which is why we decided to go to there tonight for our 41st weeding Anniversary. The place was packed and we decided to sit inside instead of the patio. Well that was a big mistake ! We had a super slow service and the food was cold and awful. 20 minutes into our dinner our waiter finally checks in with us and I laid into him! I had the the Halibut special and my husband had flat Iron Steak! He apologized for dropping the ball as they were short handed Inside of the dinning room! Well that is not my problem ! They should have never seated us . While he comped our dinner, the whole Erving was ruined! We are not cheap people and wanted to have a special diner on our special night and his gesture did make Up for the lousy time we had! We left him a very generous tip but will never go back there again. Too many other restaurants to choose from for an average $250 check. read more

Took my mother for the price fix menu on Valentine's Day and we were impressed. The service and food were exceptional. The rack of lamb was seasoned perfectly and my mother could not stop raving about how excellent the pineapple chutney was with the Chilean seabass. The tuna tartare appetizer was really very good! This place is a hot mess! We had a reservation and were seated on the outdoor patio which is lovely but completely overcrowded. Lavender's has clearly just pushed as many people onto a patio as possible to get as many covers as possible. This seemed to be one of the root causes of what was a night full of problems. We were seated and promptly told that they do not have cocktail or liquor menus (even though they are online and are rather large). One person in our party asked for Blanton's and the waiter said they had it. When the drinks came they had just replaced Blanton's with something else, without asking, and this new person said that they didn't have that whiskey. We stopped a different person to ask for a cocktail menu (maybe the original was new) and that server looked at us and said "Ask your waiter" and walked away. We then ordered our food with a completely different waiter, if you are counting this is four different people and we haven't even ordered yet. We received the appetizers quickly enough which were shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were sizable and horseradish was strong. Then a good 30 minutes had passed and they brought our entrees however we had ordered a soup/salad course as well. So they had to take that food back and then 10-15 minutes later we got our soups and salads. Another probably 20 minutes pass and they brought what from plate to plate was a very weird interpretation of what is listed on the menu. For example, their corn pudding is a basic corn muffin and their au gratin potatoes have been cut in a circle the size of a glass. This is not a side that holds its own next to a steak. I had the chicken entree and I could have made it at home. At the end of the meal the original waiter came back to the table and asked if we wanted a box for anything. One person in our party asked if he thought her protein would last a day or two as it was a delicate fish... he just stared at her and didn't respond. The staff at this price point should know their food. In the midst of all of this we did start to notice other tables were flustered with their service as well. One table had to walk their bill to the waiter as he hadn't come back to them in a while. Ultimately what seemed to be the other root cause was the manager/owner standing at the back of the patio not engaging with anyone. When even at this level the staff don't care clearly neither will the waiters. Save yourself the money and the hassle and go anywhere else! read more

This beautiful location is a must go place when I'm in the desert. No longer! After our meal last night all 4 of said no need to go back. The food was very disappointing, Caesar salad so over dressed I had to scrape the globs of dressing off the mostly tough outer romaine leaves. The lobster ravioli was a flop, they said in lobster bisque. It was more like tomato soup. The waiter dropped the dessert menus in a pile on the table for us to pass and he did the same with our split credits card checks. The highlight was was 50% off bottles of wine which we were unaware of. I guess that's a sure sign of a restaurant on the skids. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere. read more

I've been here twice and both times were so great. I usually don't care much about ambiance; I really just want good food, a clean kitchen, and to be able to hear the person I'm dining with without too much noise. However, I have to say the experience of dining here is wonderful. I don't always enjoy outdoor dining but at Lavender Bistro I just love the beautiful lights, live music, and thoughtful layout and details. It almost feels like dining inside (except with fresh air) with the way the place is set up...outdoor dining that strangely feels very cozy. Everything that I've tried on the menu has been delicious. Parking is easy and the service is great, which would explain why the place is always busy. It's a great place to celebrate special occasions and take group photos. read more

We took a team of 12 people to Lavenders and it went from bad to really bad. First, they crammed 12 of us onto a 10 top table. There was only 9 bread plates and water glasses. Flies bothered our guests all night. I ordered a liter of wine and the waiter uncorked the wine without showing it to me. The wine was only 750ml and not the correct year. I brought it to their attention and they only offered a 12% discount for 25% less volume. It sure seemed like a bait and switch. The waiter also poured a glass of wine and was showing off on how high he could pour spilling a third of the glass on the table and splashing wine on one of our guests new dress. In addition, the food was only average. There are many better restaurants to go and drop $2k. I would not recommend. read more

I couldn't believe my ears when the hostess (the usual 60 something overly made up gal) said she couldn't seat us until 5:30. ?? What? Others were coming in with I'm guessing similar early reservations. Another gal came over and thankfully took charge getting people out of the rain to seat them "before 5:30" It really soured me. We had really bad service. I think we sat there eating the bread and butter for at least a half hour without menus before I asked someone where or who our waiter was. The appetizers were great. I had the crab cake which I loved with avocado cream. The calamari salad was really great. We had the fillet mignon which was tender but the truffle fries were cold with little truffle oil. Pretty disappointed with the fries but my waist thanks you. Others had the Strip Steak which was good and tender, the lobster ravioli was amazing, and the roast chicken was really well liked. Nothing is better than sitting outside at Lavender Bistro. The service is impeccable and the food is top-notch. Where this restaurant can really improve is with their host staff. We have been patrons of this establishment for many years - and we continue to be treated poorly. We are great customers and love promoting local businesses, tip well and are friendly to the staff. You MUST be kind to your patrons. The host/hostess is the first impression that a restaurant makes. And the beyond rude attitudes of these ladies is inexcusable. read more

We were so hoping to review this place with a 5. We're sorry--not able to do so. We're a 2. The food is not great--not even good. Not at all. Ambiance is a 4. Would we come back? Not for the food. We'd come back for the music in the bar--he was awesome. We regretfully say we won't be back for dinner/too many other places to try. Tomatoes didn't taste like anything other than cardboard. Lamb was over cooked and tasteless. Lobster Ravioli was salty. Short Rib was smothered in sauce covering up the real flavor of short ribs. Too bad. Again, God knows we wanted to give this place a 5.
