I went back for another round of the Mushroom Steak & Risotto, and it was truly outstanding again--I cannot recommend the dish itself enough. Honestly, I would be a weekly regular for that meal alone if it weren't for two major drawbacks. First, at $45, it's a premium price point compared to a standard steak. Second, and more importantly, the parking situation is incredibly frustrating. They charge $20 plus tip for valet, offer absolutely no validation for restaurant guests, and provide zero self-parking options. Management should really reconsider this policy for non-hotel patrons. Charging a steep parking fee just to dine is completely out of step with every other premium restaurant in the area, and it turns an otherwise exceptional dining experience into an annoying hassle. read more

My wife and I stopped by for lunch around 11:30 AM after checking into the hotel. The food itself was solid--we ordered a salad and a burger, both of which were delicious and nicely presented (easily 4/5 stars for the meal). However, the greeting experience at the front host stand was quite puzzling. When we arrived, there was only one other table in the entire restaurant. The host asked for my name and then spent a long time typing away on his iPad without explaining what he was checking or updating us. We were just left standing there awkwardly waiting. Dined here for the first time during Restaurant Week. While the experience had some highlights, I probably wouldn't return for dinner, though I might come back for happy hour. Starting with the positives: the cocktails and wine were excellent. I had the Hot Hibiscus cocktail, which was delicious, and the wine list was well-curated with solid options. The Restaurant Week menu was also impressive. Our table ordered the short ribs and halibut, both of which were well prepared. The gazpacho and salad were particularly outstanding. Unfortunately, the service did not match the restaurant's caliber or price point. It was inconsistent and often inattentive, which seemed more like a management issue than an individual server issue. Additional staff training would go a long way toward improving the overall dining experience. Another downside was the $20 valet parking fee. While you can park elsewhere, it's a bit of a hike. The frustrating part is that the hotel will validate valet parking if you ask at the front desk, but this isn't communicated upfront. It would be much more customer-friendly to make that information clear from the start. Overall, the food and drinks were good, but the service and parking experience left enough room for improvement that I don't see myself returning for dinner. read more

We had Breakfast and Dinner here (Their other dining option , steakhouse was full and wasn't taking any walk-ins) Breakfast was good with buffet option but we skipped that and got the burrito and eggs Benedict which was solid. We also had the Prime Burger which they were serving during brunch hours and it was very good ! Service was below average during breakfast ! Dinner was a mixed bag. Our server was great but couple of dinner items fell short of expectations. The Salmon was a big disappointment and lacked in flavor. Avocado Fries and Tacos were great ! Drinks are also solid here ! We came here tonight for a big group dinner. It's funny because the name of the restaurant itself sounds like a gastropub so I was surprised to learn it's in The Ritz hotel. The sashimi was pretty good, my boyfriend liked it more than I did. For my main, I ordered the chickpea date salad and added salmon. It was pretty good, I think I expected the salad to be slightly more interesting though. Maybe since I got it without the feta (dairy-free), it needs that creamy element touch. The salmon was just okay, it was a bit overcooked. We also got a side of roasted mushrooms. It was a pretty generous portion so it's great for sharing. The food and cocktails were excellent. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the whole vibe was laid-back and comfortable. The lobster roll was top-notch--served on a warm, buttery roll with a cool, fresh lobster filling. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were crispy and cooked perfectly. The burger? So delicious!! I ordered the 12oz New York Strip & my cousin ordered a salad. We also both got a glass of wine. The NY strip was amazingggg, I got it medium. It was so juicy and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were also so good. My cousin also really enjoyed her salad & when there was an issue with the chicken it was quickly replaced. The atmosphere? Perfect. It was aesthetically pleasing inside and wasn't too loud. The service was spectacular and our server Jasmine was so sweet. We even ended up getting a dessert on the house (which was SO GOOD). I visited here on my last night in Palm Springs. I was greeted by the valet when I first approached the hotel. I didn't know where the restaurant was that everybody was accommodating to me and showing me where to go. I was greeted by name by the hostess and was seated immediately, I arrived exactly when they open for dinner. The soup of the day was a creamy lobster bisque, which was absolutely amazing. I also had the calamari, which was also delicious for an appetizer. I had the short rib with the creamy polenta for my main entrée, the short rib was very tasty and was falling apart onto the polenta yummy. I also had a tasty dessert which was the banana ice cream. I was completely amazed at the ice cream because I thought it would have chunks of banana in it, but it was just the flavor which was so creamy and very tasty. I got a mindful omelet which came with the most delicious sundried tomato pesto though it was only a small dollop, wish there was so much more of it! Our waiter, Jonas, was very attentive and polite. The food was very good. The ambiance is superb with amazing views. The reasons I deducted a star were: 1) the date bread was very hard and 2) both entrees, salmon and halibut, very smelly. We dined here on December 16 for a Christmas work party. We were a larger party of eight and sat at a semi private table which looked like a wine room. The ambience was very bright and open. The food took a long time to come out because we were apparently waiting on my entree. I ordered lamb. For whatever reason it took longer than everyone else's steak dinners. I think it arrived by drone from New Zealand! Haha! Our server sent out an appetizer on the house to tie us over. She was great. I recently stayed for five nights and have tried almost everything on the menu - you can't go wrong! Food: Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Ordered the Lobster Roll Sandwich with Fries for the first time. Chilled Maine Lobster, Roasted Garlic Aioli, Chives, on a Split Brioche Bun - this rich and delicious sandwich was perfectly served with french fries. I have had the State Fare Prime Burger at least five times and I love it. Hopscotch Cheddar, Onion-Bacon Jam, Aioli, Arugula, on a Pretzel Bun - this tasty burger will leave you feeling completely satisfied. Service: The hostess and servers, Genevieve, Crystal and Jonathan, who delivered the food and took a great memory photo, went out of their way to ensure a 5-star experience. The order was timely taken, we were seated at a table with a lovely view, pictured below, and the food was served timely as well. Ambiance: Relaxed and casual environment, but you can get dressed up if you like - just make sure everyone in your party gets the memo. Parking: valet parking only, unless you can find free parking at the bottom of Frank Sinatra drive and hike up the hill - it is literally a hike so I recommend valet parking. We visited State Fare for breakfast and for dinner, as we simply couldn't resist the "punny" name. Breakfast was excellent - we were seated outdoors and had a great view of the city in the distance. My breakfast burrito was generously sized, and the Bloody Mary was infused with bacon (a nice touch). My wife enjoyed her parfait. Dinner was a bit more mixed - we were seated indoors on account of the cold. We started the meal with the lobster croquettes, which were excellent, and had a pretty substantial amount of lobster within. For entrees, I had the New York strip - however it didn't come out at the correct temperature. It's a fancy place with absolutely stunning views--perched on top of a hill overlooking the valley. Perfect for a sunset dinner or special occasion. The staff were polite and not overly attentive, which we appreciated at first--but toward the end of our meal, we struggled to get our server's attention to request the check. That lack of attentiveness at the end was a bit frustrating. Food-wise, the lobster brioche was excellent--rich, flavorful, and generously portioned. Very satisfying. However, the avocado salad was left untouched, and no one (neither our server nor the busser) asked if everything was okay with it or whether we wanted to take it to go. Situated on top of a hill, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of the valley and the grounds of the lovely hotel courtyard below. The service was a bit slow, but our server Armando was delightful. I ordered the fruit plate and sissy the State Fare Special - eggs, roasted potatoes, fresh tomatoes, & toast. The prices are a bit steep - $25 for a plate of fruit. The brunch buffet is $45, which is reasonable given the amount of food selections available. The ingredients are locally sourced, so my fruit was ripe and flavorful. It came with a piece of honeycomb, which was a nice treat.
