This review is for a lunch for two at the bar on a Friday in late April. service: Tierney was our bartender and she was great. Food runners and hosts were all polite and professional. bar: I drank their East Side IPA and it is a great session beer ($6 as of 04/2026). Have also had their 'lectric IPA and it's a fantastic West Coast style IPA. food: My wife had a single Lawrence Beer Company burger ($15) and a cup of chili as her side ($1 upcharge, instead of fries or salad). It is a smash burger with bacon, cheese, and all the usual toppings. I had Turkey Club with waffle fries ($15). It's served on awesome Texas Toast. details: Indoor seating, outdoor seating, and private spaces. Plenty of surface parking in city out back, right off Delaware. Went here on 7/5/25 for dinner. A lot of tables inside. And it looked like they had a decent sized patio. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Lots of merchandise. They do not package their beer, you can only get crowlers of it. Tried the radler, raspberry wheat, ale, Pilsner. All were tasty. Really a bad for service. The front of the house was not managed very well. We waited and waited for our food. I popped back to the restroom and when I walked by the kitchen, the counter was full of plates ready to go to the tables. But no one was delivering them. We stopped by for a few beers and some eats. As we proceeded to the bar we noticed it was not very crowded this Sunday afternoon. It's large on the inside with plenty of seating but also there is an outside dog friendly patio. I had the Big Peach which was pretty good and my husband had the darkest one, Black is all the colors which he really enjoyed. Nick our bartender/ server was very knowledgeable about all of the beer and did an excellent job. The chili was delicious and had a different type of chili flavor like it had a little 5 spice or something in it. The salad light and fresh and burata sweet and savory. Inside is very clean, high ceilings and has an industrial vibe. We've been in one other time and it was a crowded Friday night. It was fun also. We'll be back, I recommend. read more

This place is an absolute joke. Lawrence Beer Company somehow managed to turn a simple dinner into a one-hour hostage situation while we waited for food that should've taken 15 minutes, tops. An hour. For what? Lukewarm, unimpressive food that tasted like it had been sitting on the counter forever. If you actually value your time (or your money), do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else in Lawrence. This place rides on its name, but the reality is slow, sloppy, and not worth it. We come here every time we are in Lawrence! The beer and seltzer are so good! The one thing you must try is the pretzel bites--the cheese is so good! Sometimes we get the fries with extra cheese too. I enjoyed meeting my fellow OSU Alumni last fall; however, the beer and menu in general were too expensive.

I would give Lawrence Beer Co 8 stars if I could. I have traveled the United States, been in every major city and most minor ones and thousands of restaurants. I have probably been in over 100 brewpubs. (in terms of pure beer only Torn Label Kansas City is in the same class). I can think of less than a handful to get everything right. The vibe is excellent, the service superior, my Porter beer was top-notch (I hope they make a stout soon;). Everyone in my groups food was superb. The chili was awesome and I am a chili snob. The brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had bar none. Congratulations to the owners. You did it all right (my only caution would be to be careful and make sure your bathrooms are kept spotless. :-). Cannot wait to return and hope I can take a growler Porter and a growler of chili to go!!! read more

We stood at the hostess stand for several minutes and asked to sit outside. We were taken to a table next to people who were finishing their meal. The waitress at that table came over to them, and they asked for the check. She didn't even look over at us and then brought check and again ignored us. The dirt patch beside their outdoor patio is not LBC property. Fine. I understand the dirt bag developer from KC won't allow them to use it. Then why should LBC staff be the Karen's that police kids from playing on it? Such an off putting lunch and interaction with the owner of LBC. Not friendly, not cool. Update- The owner responded on Google and he is wrong on many fronts. He claims it was unsupervised. We were feet away on outdoor patio supervising our 5 year old. LBC had allowed kids, adults, and dogs to use this space for most of the years they have been open. Now the change and the reason for the unfriendly interaction with the owner. I had to google a news article to understand why this ugly dirt patch exists. You may feel Karen is derogatory but that is exactly what happened with both you and your staff. I always like to pop in when I'm in town. I really haven't had their food but the beer is good. On the last visit I tried the Big Wonderful which is a sour saison. It was really tasty, not too sour, and at 9% it went down a lil too easy. My other favorites are the 'lectric, double 'lectric, and the Big Peach. They also have an excellent patio outside. Love the food, ambiance is great, they brew the best beer in town (raspberry edel), & service is always phenomenal!

We have been here a couple times. Once with a large group, we appreciated the inside brewery atmosphere with picnic tables that easily accommodated our entire group. The other time just 4 of us sat at the tables outside which offered a nice variety compared to the inside vibe. 1. I was surprised and impressed by the menu, they offer much more than typical bar food. The food was good. 2. The huge selection of top tier beer is something to write home about. I'm not a beer drinker and even I enjoyed "Big Peach". 3. Only one negative, the service. Both times we waited forever. The first time with the large group they were busy, I could understand. But the return visit we had a small group and they were not busy, we still had mediocre service. Hopefully they can overcome this service issue because otherwise they've got a hit here. read more

I ordered the Shrimp Linguine and the flavor was amazing. The portion size was laughable. Who serves an adult meal with 3 shrimp? I spoke with the waitress about it and was told it had been brought to the manager's attention several times and they didn't care. She apologized for not warning me about it ahead of time and was very polite about it. It was definitely not worth the $17 they charged. We ate at the Lawrence Beer Co on a sunny week day afternoon. We were very pleased with wait staff, the food was delicious, and the drinks were also very tasty. We chose this establishment because it is listed as having a pet friendly patio. Our only complaint was that since we were traveling with 2 dogs, we were required to sit on the lower patio, which was fine, but this space offers no shade or very little sun cover for guests or pets. To stay out of the hot sun, we kept moving our chairs to stay in the shade provided by the small overhead triangle canvas shades. Some tables are completely in the sun with no cover at all. A possible solution might be installing some kind of full size awning or canopy over the lower patio that would offer the same amount of shade as the upper patio. read more

Just came home from east and had party of 10 on a wed night. All was great but 2 things 1. Looks like very understaffed as our sinner lasted 2 hrs and 15 mins and had to track down waiter so we could pay bill 2. Never never go to each person and read off their dinner bill in front of others! Never! We set up the dinner so wanted to buy the apps for the table. Waiter said out loud our bill would be 107.00! Who does that? Then proceeded to say the same to everyone else. Just give the machine over to each person and have them look at receipt and sign. Came here for the first time with a group of friends. Service was terrible. Took 1.5 hrs to get our food. When we asked our waitress Kristen, about our order, she seemed disinterested, responding, "Yeah, we're busy." No apologies, no bread or chips to hold us over. Great beer. Best in town! Love their selection. Inside is stylish and comfortable. But the service sucks. I went as part of a large group and they put my food at the wrong end of the table....nobody knew it was for me. Finally I went and asked about it, they came and found it and served it to me cold. Lawrence Beer Company has a great start to compete in a busy craft beer market. With the granddaddy of Kansas breweries just a few blocks away, garnering market share is going to be an uphill climb, but it appears that LBC is game to the task. A rehabilitated brick warehouse in the Lawrence Arts District has been turned into a open mix of high-top tables, several German-style communal bier hall tables, plenty of traditional seating, and a great open air patio. The noise level can get a tad high given the concrete floor and high ceilings, but that also contributes to that community feel of a beer/bier establishment. There is plenty of seating and standing room, so most visits should see an opportunity to be seated and enjoy. But you're not reading this for floorplans or architecture, so let's talk beer. Kansas breweries, LBC included, are really good with ales, and there are several pale ales and IPAs to choose from. The 'Lectric is a very hoppy IPA and the East Side is another pale ale winner. My most recent visit had a limited edition (don't quote me on how limited) called VictoryAle, in accordance with LBC being the finish line for 2019's Brew-to-Brew relay. Throw in Kaw Valley, a sensational Kolsch, and Two Hands, an English ale, and you have plenty of malty or hoppy options. I'm holding back one star for the time being because I have not given the food a proper sampling. Pricing is a touch high, though not out of reason, but I have not had the chance for a reviewable bit of their fare. That just means it will require a return visit, which is absolutely on the radar for this thirsty beer lover. read more

However that has all changed now thanks to the strangely aggressive behavior towards our parking our bikes on the rail on the patio. Yes, we did not adequately prepare for our adventure, having just taken our first voyage on the bikes without a lock but damn, we really thought spending $100 that day on lunch would get us at least a warning to not come back without putting them in their spots? What a terribly unorganized place. We arrived at the host stand had someone come up to greet us and never came back. We had to be sat by another person then we got sat on the patio which was fine but our server was terrible. She took our drink order and then our food but never checked on us again. We had to flag her down because she would look at us but not come up to us. I even had to ask another staff member to check on our food. To make things worse we waited close to an hour for our food only for her to come up to us and say the kitchen "lost" our ticket. My guess is that she never put it in the first place. It would've been fine if she was honest and said that but we were so annoyed at that point we wanted to leave. All she offered us were free fries to try and make up for the mistake. It really seemed like she was going to ask us to pay for our drinks when she noticed we wanted to leave but at least she knew better than to do that. I have personally tried to 'like' this place, as a result of the number of times I find myself at Lawrence Beer Co. From work lunches to personal outings, I really want to enjoy it since I am a huge fan of breweries, but this is just not one I'd recommend to visit. First off, the food and beverages are all mediocre. Each time I have had a lunch or dinner here, no one is impressed by either; from the odd food pairings to the cocktails, not much will stand out in your mind about the place. When it comes to the service, it is consistently slow; the staff appears to check on you until you order food then never returns-- which is not ideal at a brewery. I recently decided to take my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday and this was the biggest mistake of all. We were in a group of 5 and after serving everyone in the group 2 drinks -- the waitress cuts a member of our party off. Our mind was blown; this individual was nowhere near being drunk or acting obnoxious or crude, but the waitress decided it was her responsibility to do it. Now I understand the liabilities associated with over-serving someone, however this was not even close to being the case. My family was shocked & have decided to blacklist the place from here on out, which is understandable at this point. All I can say is do better Lawrence Beer Co; we love supporting local but when the mutual respect and customer service is not there, the customer will go elsewhere. read more
