I used the LAX IT to go to the Uber pickup location. The new way of doing pickup for rideshare is a hit and miss. The main issue I would say is waiting for the shuttle especially if you're at the last couple terminal because it can be full by the time it gets to you. I was waiting at the Tom Bradley terminal so I was able to get on the first shuttle and go to the destinated area for Uber pickup. Waited more than 40 minutes for a unit while many empty busses kept passing through. LAX needs to get their system together if they want to operate at top notch status once the Olympics roll in. Absolutely unacceptable especially when arriving from an 11+ hour fight and with children. It was pretty tempting to accept one of the offers from the drivers waiting and looking to score a job at the exit of arrivals but with sketchy folk out there, it is a no brainer. read more

LAX-it isn't my favorite setup, but it's the system we've got. The process takes longer than it should, and waiting for the buses can test your patience. Once you finally reach the pickup area, you still end up waiting for your ride. The staff, to their credit, are polite and do their best with what they have. It's functional but inconvenient. LAXit is hands down one of the most inefficient airport systems I have ever experienced. From start to finish, it feels poorly planned and completely disconnected from how people actually travel. The shuttles are unreliable, not frequent enough, and far too small for the volume of passengers using them. You can wait forever just to get packed onto a bus, only to crawl your way over to LAXit while watching the clock and your patience disappear. Once you finally arrive, the pricing is insanely overpriced. Between surge pricing and added airport fees, rides cost way more than they should, especially considering how inconvenient the entire process is. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Don't expect the process to be fast or intuitive. It's been a while since we've flown at LAX so we weren't quite up to date on this whole thing, but I think a system like this should be intuitive and it really wasn't. We'd arrived around 9:30pm and were expecting to grab a Lyft at the arrivals curb near Terminal 5. Oops, all ride share vehicles must now pick you up at the LAX-it lot about half mile away by Terminal one. Ok, we thought. We'll just wait for one of the green LAX-it shuttles to take us there, like everyone else. I'd read in some previous reviews that there were LAX staff directing people and answering questions by the shuttle stops. On this particular occasion there were no such staff, and we had to Google and ask the people milling around the shuttle stop for answers. We are English-speaking LA natives and felt clueless; I can't imagine what a nightmare this would be for international travelers! Then again, maybe they would've done more research than us, lol. After waiting for about 15 minutes and watching a full shuttle go by, the hubby and I decided to just walk to the lot. It seemed like it would be faster than waiting for another shuttle, which would fill up fast anyway, with the size of the growing crowd at the stop. (Of course there was no real time display of when the next shuttle would be coming, etc.) We only knew where to go because of Google maps; the signage for walking to the LAX-it lot was woefully sporadic. It wasn't a bad walk if you're in reasonable shape, but for the elderly, disabled, or people with small children and/ot lots of baggage, it wouldn't be practical. Once you finally make it into the lot, things definitely get easier, and we were able to connect with a ride quickly. In conclusion, I think having a separate area for rideshare and taxis is a good idea, but they need WAY more shuttles, signage, and personnel to move things along more efficiently (especially for first timers). After having just traveled to NY and Boston, i am struck anew by how much LA still suffers in comparison to cities with well-established public transit systems. I realize that this is just an interim thing before that people mover is finished, but I sure hope that system is better implemented than this. read more

Getting to the LAX rideshare lot is frustrating. You have to hop on the green bus, but if you're unlucky, it fills up quickly and you'll have to wait for the next one. The best time to book your Uber is once you arrive at the lot, then head to the letter you're assigned and wait patiently, your ride can still take a few minutes to arrive. read more

Guard your bag if you absolutely must take this bus to the ride-share and taxi lot at lax. Four people's bags went missing when the extremely long ride with many stops finally got to the ride-share lot when I took this a few nights ago. The bus driver was very insistent on managing how all the luggages were stored and insisted people put their smaller carryons on top of the big luggages in the storage area of the bus. So people at the back of the bus were separated from their small bags. Well by the time those people finally got to where the bags were stored when we were exiting the bus they couldn't find their small bags, someone had either stolen it or taken by mistake. Also this was a shuttle that dropped us off in the late evening so it was impossible for people to find the person who took their bags. Just be extremely cautious when using lax-it or don't use it at all if you can find another method of transportation out of lax! read more

Terrible wait time to get picked up. PRO: Landed, found the pick up spot easily. AND THATS IT. Waited for abou to 20 minutes for a shuttle/bus. No organization. There were a few people waiting before us too....so they were there longer. No updates... 2 busses passed us by. One packed and one full. Once the bus stopped at our stop it was already half full. Not everyone could even get on this one. People rushed the bus to try to get on. No proper line. Good luck if you need any type of help or even a little more time. Once we get to the rideshare drop off, there are abandoned luggage carts everywhere. It's hard to walk through anywhere .... its a maze of luggage carts. read more

The LAX-it has reduced the traffic outbound from the airport, although it's painful to wait for the shuttle from the terminal exit to the share rides hub. I literally saw three shuttles driving by without stopping, and this could happen if your terminal is far from the earlier pickup terminals as those shuttle buses got filled up quickly. read more

First time riding on the LAX-it. In concept - pretty good idea to have everyone ride outside of the Terminals and catch a taxi or and Uber/Lyft to avoid more congestion inside the terminal. The ride was maybe 10 minutes but the bus was jammed packed and they kept shoving people in while we already barely had any space. Overall, average experience but not bad. read more

Our return flight came in to LAX terminal 6. We needed to arrive to terminal one for our car pickup. We were directed to take LAX-it to get to terminal one. Well, after standing with about 50 other people waiting for about 30 minutes for a shuttle that never arrived. We decided to just walk to terminal one. It was just a 5 minute walk straight up the middle. I would highly suggest to just walk if possible. The shuttle never showed up and seemed like it would have been a nightmare to just get on an over crowded shuttle with luggage for just a short walk. So far I do not recommend LAX-it. They need to figure out how to make this more efficient. Also, the pick up area for waiting on ride share area was also a nightmare. Extremely overcrowded and not a single person directing cars to move to allow other vehicles for pick to come in. LAX needs to figure it out!! read more

We've used the LAX-it a number of times but this last time, just a week ago, was the worst experience ever. (It has never been a good experience --- this time was just flat out awful.) My wife and I got off a flight at Tom Bradley terminal and immediately went to the LAX-it shuttle stop to the right of the terminal. There was already a large group of passengers waiting for a shuttle bus to pick them up. Over the next 40 minutes we watched two EMPTY LAX-It shuttle buses pass the bus stop and there was a collective groan from the people waiting. I told my wife that even if a shuttle bus stops there won't be enough room to accommodate all the passengers who want to get on the bus. I spoke to an LAX employee and she suggested that we WALK to LAX-it, which is just across the street from Terminal 1. The walk was about 12 minutes. When we got to LAX-it, we did find the Uber and Lyft pickup areas, both of which were covered in graffiti. The presence of so much graffiti at this 24 hour facility gave me the impression that the area was not policed and may even be dangerous. For people new to LA it would probably give them the impression that LA is lawless (and maybe that's an accurate impression). With the World Cup happening in LA in 2026 and the Olympics in 2028, LAX needs to up its game A LOT. LAX-it needs to be a safe, graffiti free facility where police are present. read more

Waited 60 minutes for a shuttle at terminal 6. Saw five buses go by that were full. Clearly passengers arriving in terminals 1 & 2 get first dibs. They can easily solve this problem by having shuttles specific to a terminal. If there are empty seats, they can pick up passengers from later terminals. If any body in Lax-it management please consider this option. Finally took the shuttle to budget parking to get out of Lax. read more

This system is terrible if you are at United /Terminal 7 on any regular basis. The buses you take routinely SKIP this terminal because they are full or behind schedule. The Green Vest people tell you it's MUCH faster to walk the 5-10 minutes across Sepulveda Blvd. Which is a major street in LA. Today 4 busses have gone by. They were telling everyone to walk instead. 2 of the men had to be over 70. So if you fly United or Terminal 7 you are definitely getting treated less than other airlines! No skipping busses on other terminals to service Terminal 7 passengers fairly. Just lug your luggage on your own! read more

The logistics and timing should be better managed with 2-3 buses dedicated to each terminal. Honestly, the parking lots and hotels run a better system. 100% it's due to the volume of people. The only good thing about LAX-IT is that it makes it easier to coordinate your pickup location with ride share from LAX. Otherwise - staff are almost always horrendously rude, the area is absolutely filthy, and they pack you into their shuttles like sardines, then drive like maniacs, taking corners like they're auditioning for Fast and Furious or slamming on the brakes, throwing everyone and their luggage all over the place. Insane carnage. It's easy enough to find - just follow all the green signs to the glaring green bus stops outside after baggage claim. The shuttles run when they run - it's unpredictable- sometimes it arrives right away - sometimes it takes ages. You can also walk to LAX-IT - it's about half a mile from terminal 5 so it'll be farther from other terminals and you have to walk through all the construction sites - definitely not the safest option - LAX is a terrible area as it is. I don't recommend walking. Once you arrive and call your ride share, you'll set up the pick up location at one of the tent sections marked with numbers and letters - each company has its own area (one for Uber, one for Lyft, etc) - just follow the abundant signs - can't miss it. They also have a section for taxis if you prefer. The shuttles are always filthy - and absolutely roasting hot. And the LAX-IT waiting areas are disgustingly dirty as well - trash, half-eaten food, and TONS of cigarette butts everywhere - it's just foul. Luckily you don't have to spend much time there. For people new to LA, this is a horrid first experience :( I've never had any experiences with LAX-IT that weren't nightmares lol - and I travel through LAX a lot. Now they have about 5-6 staff members in yellow vests standing around as you exit the shuttle, yelling at everyone to "move to the back to exit" over and over (even at 2am). That's it - that's all they do - they don't tell you anything else. That place has five million signs telling you where to go - why do you need 5 people screaming at passengers as they get off the shuttle telling them less than what they can figure out from all the signs? They need more staff out there cleaning and driving more buses or something - and trained on better public relations. Grossly mismanaged. read more

Rideshare within LAX has changed since the last time I visited Los Angeles. I was at the airport and ended up at the LAX-it thanks to a nice airport worker who helped me. LAX now has free shuttles that specifically bring you to the LAX-it location away from the airport for ridesharing. There are locations designated to wait for the shuttle at the airport, and then you hop on the (packed) shuttle with your luggage to end up at LAX-it. Once I arrived at LAX-it, I was a little puzzled but followed the Uber signs. Once I placed my Uber ride, I chose the location within LAX-it that the driver needed to pick me up from. Geez, this was an interesting journey just to get an Uber! read more

Horrible if you are at the last few terminals. Busses are full and just drive past. I frequently fly in on Alaska and it's not unusual to have 5 or six busses go right in by. They need more busses or busses dedicated to the terminals at the end of the loop. read more

This happens during peak travel seasons. Happened to me yesterday. Three laxit shuttles passed the terminal 6 location where I was waiting because the buses were full. Happens in n summer and other holidays. Why the heck don't they split the pickups by having one bus pick up the first four terminals and another the other 4. Seems logical to me! I tried to call lax to suggest/ complain but it was impossible! I wonder what will happen when the Olympics comes to town. Once the familiar scent of foul smelling air due to the air pollution hits my nostrils, I know I'm home. I had heard of LAX-it (la exit), but had no idea where to go. Luckily, there was a bright green sign advertising to wait for a shuttle for "taxis" and "Uber/Lyfts. It's supposed to take up to 15 minutes for a shuttle, but luckily the shuttle arrived within 5 minutes. The shuttle was already 75% full when it arrived, but we didn't have huge bags of luggage and were able to grab a seat. The shuttle filled up quickly until all seats were taken and all standing room was taken, too. It only took about 5 minutes to get to the LAX-it area from terminal 6. I believe LAX-it is near terminal 1. You can also walk to the lax-it area, which you may prefer depending on the amount of luggage you have. I have to admit that the area was pretty organized. There was a clearly marked area for where to go to order a taxi, Uber, or Lyft. You stand in an area marked with a letter and number so that your driver knows exactly where to pick you up. The car was easy to spot and we were on our way home within 10 minutes. Although it's not ideal to have to take a shuttle when you land just to get an Uber home, the shuttle didn't have a long ride and the Uber/Lyft area was more organized than I thought. It's the best solution for now to an already severely crowded car situation at lax, and it was much easier to use than I thought. *breathes in the LA air and coughs, repeatedly* Welcome home! read more
