The best falafel platters we have ever had in the US. We visited Layla's Falafel due to their great reviews on Yelp and they absolutely deserve the high ratings. We had their Chicken Shawerma platter ($13.99) and Layla's falafel platter ($12.99) with great portion and reasonable price. Both platters were served with pita, hummus and salad. Their pita was grilled soft with a great smell and matched with the creamy hummus very much. The chicken was cooked tender with slightly scorched layer. Our favorite was the falafel, which was delicious, delicate filling with crunchy layer. My husband didn't like falafel at all but he said their falafel changed his mind with Mediterranean food. However, the reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because the staff didn't wear masks during the special situation now. read more

Wow - not enough good words to say about the quality of the food here. Okay here's where we will start: Their garlic sauce "Toum" is absolutely insane - the only other place to get garlic sauce is Trader Joe's and Laylas is 1000x better The chick shwarma is so unreal delicious, great sauce and the chicken is the perfect amount of seasoned and charred. The hummus is delicious and their pita is super super fresh. The staff is super nice and we travel 30 minutes to come here because it's so good! With such awesome reviews on Yelp, I couldn't miss this restaurant. So, we decided to give it a try! The food was good and fresh. We had Falafel Wrap and Layla's Shawerma Pita Sandwich. Falafels, veggies and the meat (chicken, lamb, beef) were really fresh and delicious. They have their own garlic dip which you should try only if you like strong garlic flavor. Parking space is limited and touched the main street near traffic lights. So, it's a pain to park and move your car around. You have to be extremely careful not to hit other cars or accidently get on the main road, especially if you have a SUV. They have one common restroom which was not very clean or welcoming. I wouldn't call it bad though. Definitely go here for good food! read more

Layla's is truly a Stamford institution. When I originally moved to Stamford in 2010, many of my local friends told me that to just try Layla's Falafel. I had not had much experience with falafel, but figured how special could it be? Man was I wrong. 12 years later, Layla's continues to provide us with delicious meals, extremely friendly service, and an all-around beautiful experience. Be sure to try some different items. I especially enjoy the different dips, like hummus (chickpeas) and baba ghanoush (eggplant). I also enjoy the stuffed grape leaves, and the sandwiches, which are pitas stuffed with fresh vegetables and can be topped with beautifully grilled chicken, lamb, or kebab. This a small shop, but food is good. Spicy izma was a nice side. It is known as Muhammera in a lot of other places. I loved the garlic sauce they gave as side. Arabic shawarma as well as lamb shawafal was really good. They have good falafal. Zaatar pie was ok. read more

Start with the fries! You gotta start with their fries. Sooo good. I love their chicken shawarma and my husband loves their falafels. They also have really nice baklava. Overall food is amazing here. This place is always packed, I've never gotten a parking spot on the go, which is a good sign. We've been to both their Westport and stamford locations and usually both of them are packed. I LOVE Layla's Falafel! I've tried almost everything on their menu and have grown to have quite a few favorites. They were the first place I've ever had shawarmas and falafels. They're SO GOOD. One thing I will point out is that I recently did delivery and the delivery guy was dropped off by a friend which was strange. He also wasn't wearing a mask at all so that was uncomfortable. I walked in with the intent to order some food to bring for dinner for an overnight shift I had, and within seconds of crossing the threshold I was greeted with a kind smile. We tried the falafel combo plate which had salad, cucumber tomato salad, tabouli, hummus, and baba ganoush and their pita was thick and fluffy and everything was fresh! This past weekend I was in Stamford for some work and absolutely wanted to go back to Layla's for their awesome Lamb Shwarma. This place is the best of the best. Same amazing food, amazing service, friendly staff, generous portions and great prices! It doesn't get any better. Their falafel is the best I ever had. Kibbbeh is phenomenal. Best Hummus. Best Baba Ganoush. Great unassuming ambiance. And of course I went there for a lamb shwarma which is a big fat sandwich filled the juicy tender awesomeness (not the skimpy tiny rolls you get at so many mediocre middle eastern places). The lentil soup is AMAZING - the hint of lemon was a pleasant surprise. Tabouli Grill in Stamford has a very similar lentil soup. The chicken shawarma is delicious - and if you are into dessert - try their authentic desserts - the baklava is crazy scrumptious! All the sandwiches and platters are top notch, but my personal favorite is the lamb. Every portion is reasonable priced and generously sized, with fresh veggies and perfectly flavorful seasoning. Each sandwich is probably enough for two meals if you're a conservative eater!
