Air race pilot Tony Higa had a selection of Laymon's soft chew candies for people at the National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada. Their logo is prominently placed high on the tail of his racing plane, so I guess they sponsor him. The candy was delicious, with good texture and consistent quality. Went by again because I was in the area and bought two pounds of the English toffee with almonds for $10 a pound. They had the smaller rectangular pieces this time instead of the larger block pieces. There was no one at the counter at 1:15 in the afternoon, but a very cheerful lady named Linda helped me after I browsed around for a minute. She wasn't the usual worker whom I've had in the past. She was so helpful and friendly, and she even knew about the Glendora candy store( Martha's Candies), where they stock Laymon's candy. According to Linda, they've provided candy for almost 50 years to them. She also wrapped up the toffee in a nice white box with a label that said " Laymon's Candy, our 87th year!" Man o'man long time ago when i was 6 they had another location down off of 9th street in colton you could smell the fresh candy, that's how close i lived and no matter when we walked in the store we were always greeted with a smile and always went in with like $2 and walked out with a whole bag full of goodies!!! Recently looked them up to see if they were still around and man was I shocked come to find out I still live down the street here!!! So I took my trip to make a visit still has the sweet smell even though its a different location you can still smell the sweetness as you walked up.. Approaching the counter i was greeted by the amazing Miss Diane with a warm smile and very helpful attitude and even better they have a sugar free options and many candies that you don't see at the local market unless you walk in on a lucky shipment!! I have driven past this candy store so many times and didn't even realize it was there until my boyfriend surprised me by taking me there! Wow! I was looking for salt water taffy candies to give as a birthday present, I found this place by accident. So close to where I am at, thought I had to go to the beach...lol Anyhow, they make their own taffy here & I was told that they send out to stores at the beach stores. The lady who helped me was super nice, put my 2lb taffies in a box & even offered to gift wrap it for free. I'm hesitant to write a review, because I want to keep this place to myself. First, It gets 5 stars because they do what no on does anymore. The sell chocolate for a reasonable price. Now, that doesn't mean the quality suffers, because it doesn't. The chocolate here is of the quality that you find an any of those franchised hand crafted shops. They do a lot of wholesale,and have been doing it for decades, so their beautiful retail store is just an added bonus for us. Yes they have a lot of sugar-free chocolates that the produce, and they often have seasonal stuff too. (Taffy pieces with shamrocks in the centered and flavored like Irish cream...yum) They've got delicious fudge as well, very. My favorite was the "boo boos", imperfect chocolates that didn't meet their quality control, but were just as delicious are rest. These were extraordinarily cheap. All chocolate is sold by the pound, but doesn't have to fall on the pound (they let me buy a dollars worth of the Irish taffy's) I used to visit their old site on Colton avenue, and was so pleased to "rediscover" their new site. This place is a quaint little place. I'm not a huge sweets person, but man, they've got a lot of good stuff. They have jars filled with old fashioned sweets, chocolates, fudge, taffy, sugar free and more. They make quite a bit of it and also carry a lot of older candy bars that you can't find in mainstream stores. Worth a visit! read more

Laymon's makes the BEST sugar-free milk chocolate honeycomb! I discovered it in Hawaii at Sugar Coast Candy in Hilo (on the Big Island), and searched for it when I got home. This is it---the same company who sells to Sugar Coast. If you don't eat sugar (as I choose not to) it is nice to have a special and delicious sweet treat once in a while---you will love this. If great sweets is what you are looking for then Laymon's is where you have to go. I have been going to Laymon's for 50 years, since I was about 6, maybe younger, when they were in Colton. My grandmother used to take all three of us kids to get what we wanted-rock candy, gummy crocodile-before gummy was the "it" thing, etc. They have the best Fudge, Divinity, toffee's and soft centered chocolates.
