Oak Tree Mountain feels like something straight out of a Hallmark movie beautiful, peaceful, and…read morefull of charm. Surrounded by nature, with fresh mountain air and birds singing, it's the kind of place that makes you slow down and enjoy the outdoors. We visited in December, so it wasn't peak season and not everything was open, but we still had a great time. Even with fewer attractions available, it was fun just being there walking around, taking in the scenery, and enjoying the quiet, outdoorsy atmosphere. It's a lovely place to visit, especially if you appreciate nature and simple pleasures. Even in the off-season, Oak Tree Mountain was enjoyable, and I can only imagine how charming it must be during peak season.

My family and friends' time while visiting Oak Tree Mountain was a fun and memorable experience…read more We had breakfast, shopped, toured the surrounding area, and basically hiked while taking tons of group and selfie photos. More importantly, we laughed and had a great time. When we arrived early in the morning, the temperature was 35 degrees and overcast. If you plan to visit here anytime soon, BRING a jacket as you WILL feel the chill the second you open your car door. It was pretty chilly, but it felt GREAT as the air was crisp and fresh. I read the many negative Yelp reviews regarding an additional fee to visit the upper area. Thank goodness they were not charging during our visit, as we would have done exactly what many other visitors did before us and left. The small shops were lovely to visit, as all the items sold are handmade and, surprisingly, very affordable. One shop was offering 50% off EVERYTHING, so my family and friends definitely took advantage of the savings. This is a fun place to visit and to get away from it all for a few hours, as long as they do not charge visitors any additional fees, including parking, which, during our visit, was free. Thank goodness for anything free nowadays.

This candy shop is a throwback in time. It was quaint with so much decor for one's eyes to enjoy. I…read morehave been here before for the candy & recommend it as a treat to yourself or as a gift. Chocolate I have eaten was creamy & delicious. This time I wanted to try a sandwich. Glad I did because it was fresh & delicious. I ordered a Build-A-Sandwich & you will see in my picture how fresh & well stacked it was. Sandwiches come with chips. I also ordered a Village Mango ice tea which topped off the meal. It was refreshing with the splash of pineapple & mango pieces being a treat at the end of the drink. The 2-workers were very friendly & served me within 5-minutes after I filled out my sandwich order. Of course I got some chocolate to go but I gotta try the peanut brittle next time.

Was craving a good cookie while downtown. Stopped in and they had a special buy 3 get 1 free. Got 2…read morepeanut butter, chocolate chip, and a sugar. Also got a pecan popcorn bag and some white chocolate over honeycomb. Everything tasted like it was from the 10-day old bakery. All the cookies were stale, hard, and lacked flavor. The popcorn was chewy and also lacked flavor. The white chocolate honeycomb was hard and just not good. Every item we bought couldn't be finished because it was stale and just plain unappetizing. We ended up throwing everything out. So disappointing. Had to go to Cookie Crumble to satisfy the craving. Was trying to keep it local without going to a chain, but there was no comparison. Do better Village Candy. We want to support our local businesses but the quality has to be there.
