Immediately go!!!! The cutest place EVER. I love it inside; the vibe and decor really transport you to a middle eastern cafe. Very kind staff and quick to make drinks and food even when busy. It's a large space with lots of tables and booths, and a little market area with jewelry, and other items to buy. Every single drink, matcha and espresso, sounded delicious. I ordered the iced tiramisu latte and zaatar spiced avocado toast. Both were soooo tasty and I would get the both again next visit. Beautiful place, great food and drinks, and Palestinian owned. Go support local and check it out!
Laymoon has been on my list since its grand opening, and I've been waiting for the right time to give it a visit! When you step in, you see a community of people seated all around you. There are study groups, young and older couples, families, individuals working, etc. it feels very coworking-friendly, which is super ideal to me! Gorgeous interior and furniture with middle eastern accents. You walk through some boutique and local merchandise as you find the counter to order. I ordered myself a mango guava matcha. The matcha color was PERRRRRFECT and at first taste, you can tell it was going to be a good one. Once stirred, I got all the flavors, and it was actually heaven, you get mango guava summer goodness, and flavorful matcha to balance. For working: there's a variety of seating and plenty of outlets everywhere. Water station is by the counter. I'd come back again to work!!
We came in as a spur of the moment stop while we, as locals, just walked around Tempe. The university is out, so maybe it was less crowded than other reviews, however we only waited behind one group to place our order. The flavors on the menu are a little more unique. Which, for me is fabulous. I went for iced vanilla, honey and cinnamon. Which was delicious. My husband ordered the salted caramel. When his name was called the drink was pink. He looked at the label. It's his name. He looked around, he didn't just grab someone else's drink. So, he says to the barista, I think this incorrect. Barista says with a smile, nope definitely not salted caramel. Let me get that remade! I'm not sure where the order went wrong but the barista just handled the mix up like a pro. It was so nice to not be questioned on what/where things went wrong. They just fixed it!
Unique coffee shop with a calming atmosphere. I do recommend checking out this shop outside of the school year. During the school year, the lines are long and you will be waiting potentially 20 minutes or more for what you ordered. I got the rose cardamom latte with oatmilk and it was a fun unique coffee, I have not had anything like it before. The spice is perfectly balanced with the floral taste, and the drink itself is beautiful. I would recommend checking it out if you want something unique. I also got the pistachio Baklava. The baklava was perfectly coated with honey and had a great ratio of pistachio. It was so good I almost went back and ordered another one. I also got the Honeycomb, it was great and the honey ratio was perfect! Recommend checking out Laymoon Cafe!
Absolutely love this place! Been here twice and have enjoyed it both times. It's a Palestinian owned business in Tempe and has a great variety of food and drinks. I especially love their lime cooler and the mint mojito latte which reminds me a lot of the one you can get at Philz Coffee (Laymoon's is better). The staff is always so friendly, even when the place is super packed and busy. Haven't had a chance to sit down here since it's very popular, but the interior design and vibe is very beautiful. Would 10/10 recommend trying if you are in the area.
Yay finally got to try out Laymoon! I love how their name is a play on words: laymoon means lemon in Arabic and I appreciate the nod to the moon, a symbol of Islam. Def wanted to come here earlier, during their grand opening, but never made it out to Tempe. I came from Friday prayers at the masjid next door, so I was already parked in the garage and didn't have to worry about that aspect. There was only two pairs ahead of me in line when I visited in the afternoon. The barista taking my order was friendly and efficient as I ordered a mango passion fruit refresher and their laymoon & mint lemonade. I checked out their pastry case and they didn't have too much left since it was already afternoon, but they had a few options to choose from. I got their chocolate croissant, which I've tried from JL Patisserie, and I know it's good. They asked if I wanted it heated up, and I said yes please. I entered my phone number at the register so I could join their rewards program. Prices are on the higher side ($8 for the croissant, $6.50 for 16oz drinks) just as an fyi. The cafe itself is spacious and beautiful. I've seen lots of photos so I already knew what it looked like. It was pretty busy too; lots of folks hanging out, Muslim and not. They have lots of stuff on sale and a bunch of free stickers, so I grabbed some. My drinks and croissant took a few minutes to be ready and I grabbed some lids at the counter. I really like their cups: recyclable and they're rounded at the bottom so they feel nice in your hands. They have a good amount of seating outside and a decent sized patio, which would be lovely during mild weather. I loved my warmed chocolate croissant, just what I wanted. My lemon & mint drink was refreshing and I really appreciate the strong mint flavors, tastes so natural. I tried the mango passionfruit refresher and it was nice as well. Would def come back to support this Syrian & Palestinian owned small business! I wish them much success.
I came here with friends during one of Tempe's festivals. It was crowded, and the line was about a 15 minute wait. And there was another 10 minute wait for our food and drinks. So I don't recommend coming here super hungry. People weren't hogging seats, so we didn't have to search for too long to get seats. The pastries were delicious and the coffee yummy. Chefs kiss all around. But the presentation could have been better. Some of our pastries were packed to go and others were on pretty plates, even though we said we were going to eat there. It was messy to eat my pastry on a paper bag. It would have been better to eat it off a plate. It would have made the experience better, and I think it would have been more cost effective for the owners. The decor was lovely. It reminded me of the cafes in Jordan. The carpets on the ceiling, the arched nooks for group seating, it all resemble Arabic decor. So beautiful! If the food presentation was better (pastries on plates not bags), I would have felt like I was in an exotic land where the coffee are strong, the food and decore are beautiful, and the hospitality is friendly.
I'm not sure how Laymoon Cafe became so popular before they even opened but all the hype really raised expectations I think in an unrealistic way. I was fortunate that the two times I went to Laymoon Cafe I didn't have to wait in line at all. I was told it was because it was "spring break" though my two visits were a couple weeks apart. I'm from Houston, one of the top most diverse large cities in the country - I love this concept and appreciate the opportunity to interact with the diverse staff and indulge in such diverse cuisine. I've tried the Sim Sim Latte and Baklava Latte - both of which didn't have as strong of flavor as I had hoped for. I also tried the honeycomb, GF banana chai muffin, and zaatar bagel - all of which I thoroughly enjoyed and had a seasoning/spice level I was hoping for. The staff is patient and friendly and happy to answer questions. The decor and ambiance feels like you're not in Phoenix and I love that another culture/heritage is celebrated here.
I really don't see what the hype is all about. Ambiance is cool, but I found it very crowded and somewhat overpriced. Parking is also very difficult near the cafe. Additionally, there's a side door entrance/exit that is locked. Someone should put a sign on both the outside and inside that says not an exit. I was there for an hour and must have seen over 30 people try to exit or enter via the locked door. Also, I saw tables that were reserved with just one person at them. Mind you- these are large round booth tables that could seat 6 people. Not sure what their reservation policy is- but I found it annoying to see that.
I have been here twice and both times it was very crowded. The coffee is very very good and all of the food seems like it is good as well (although i have never tried one myself). I wish they had more outlets because it is such a big study spot (or even some extension cords). I also noticed that the last few times we have been there, the baristas have not been super friendly. I wish they were a little more approachable and friendly (speaking as someone who had worked in the service industry). Other than that, very good!
I've been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally got to go last month. I don't really love going to the downtown Tempe area as it's pretty busy and always construction, but I would say it's worth it to try this spot! So many good sounding drink options, but I decided to get a chai latte with fig syrup and it was really good! We also tried a few food items, like the bubble bread with cream cheese, I guess it's one of their more cultural specialty foods. To me it tasted like a pretzel with cream cheese. We also tried a brown sugar pop tart and baklava. The pop tart wasn't that good, baklava was better. The atmosphere is really nice, they have a lot of seating and nice decor, even some retail items for sale. Beautifully decorated inside. Would definitely like to come back and try more!
So beautiful! Decor is very thoughtful and really showcases the beauty of Laymoon's culture. The high arches, rugs on the ceiling, and mirrors are SO elegant. Their drinks are also excellent. I prefer a smaller size matcha here in order to get the matcha/flavor ratio right. The caramelized fig matcha is EXCELLENT and very unique. One thing I appreciate about Laymoon is that the syrups are flavorful without being overpowering- I have found that in many specialty matcha lattes, two flavors cannot coexist. I have not had this experience at Laymoon. Their tiramisu latte (not pictured) is also delicious. I personally haven't tried the refreshers, but my friend and partner both liked theirs. A great place to study with plenty of outlets- sometimes there are busy hours with lots of foot traffic. During my first visit (around their opening), the line was about 20 minutes long. However, don't let this discourage you! My drink only took 5 minutes to come out. Staff are friendly and efficient. They also have a variety of cute jewelries, hair clips, and other merchandise items from a pop-up called NOMINAL inside. I'd recommend visiting Laymoon- it's a wonderful experience.
I heard all the buzz about the "new" coffee shop in town and I got excited. And I also heard about the long lines when they opened... so I waited until those lines died down a bit, lol. Well, Laymoon Cafe is worth all that buzz! On my first visit, I had a lot of questions about all the delicious sounding drinks... and the staff was friendly and helpful for me in deciding upon my drink order! I wanted to order a pastry too, but they did not have any gluten-free options available when I visited (toward the mid-afternoon on a weekday). Have you ever had a Banana Date Matcha? I have and it is spectacular! PRO TIP: order it less sweet because the banana and date add some natural sweetness. There are tons of comfy seats and tables... some smaller and others better for larger groups! Lots of available outlets too... so bring that laptop and get your studying or work done while enjoying one (or more) of their yummy drinks! Beautiful restaurant with great drinks. Comfortable vibe and loved the diverse clientele and Palestine items for sale. Great hangout for students to study or who don't want to go to the Bars. We ordered the rose cardamom latte (delicious), mint lemonade (fantastic), and lebneh toast. Wish they had more food. The lebneh toast was good but a bit overpriced ($12) for a slice of regular toast. Will return! read more
This cafe is so cute! There were so many tables that even though it was pretty busy when we went, we found a table no problem. Service was quick and we got our drinks within 10 minutes. We ordered a strawberry matcha and a caramelized fig & vanilla matcha. Both were yummy! The matcha isn't super strong but the fig flavor was really good so I didn't mind too much. I've had Laymoon Cafe on my list for a while and finally made my way in May. I arrived early, around 8:00 am and was able to find parking right in front. The staff greeted me as soon as I entered. Wow, the interior is stunning! The details are incredible. I love the mix of modern and traditional. The staff was great in helping me decide what to order. I ordered the following: Baklava latte $8 Spiced zaatar avo toast $15 Baklava $6 Everything was delicious! Though the tiramisu latte is their most popular, they use house-made syrup for the baklava latte and that's music to my ears. It wasn't too sweet either. The spiced zaatar avo toast comes with zaatar, feta, lemon, olive oil, and pomegranate seeds. The flavor was nice and light. I would have liked more avocado, especially for the $15 price tag. The baklava was phenomenal. I savored every bite. read more

Wow, SOOOOOOO big!! That's what she said!! This is a really BIG coffee shop! Their menu is just right. Not too extensive, not too slim. Service was friendly with a smile! My iced caramelized fig & vanilla matcha half sweet was perfectly lightly sweet and tasty! There's no shortage of comfy seating here! Outdoor patio seating is not as comfy as indoor, but you can always come inside if your booty needs some cushion love! Prices are a bit on the higher end, hence the 4 stars, but looking forward to trying their other tasty drinks! read more

My friend and I were looking for a place to study after class and have been seeing this place all over socials so we decided to try it out! Firstly, the atmosphere/ambiance is great, open space, cute aesthetic, and just overall good vibes. It was pretty busy when we came in but our drinks came out super fast. I tried their tiramisu latte. It was good but the sizing was tiny for the price. Overall, it wasn't a bad drink but I probably wouldnt get it again. I would love to come back for another study date and try their matcha!! read more
*Late post* My friend and I went a few days after grand opening on a Monday, and boy oh boy was it busy! Parking was stressful with all of the construction, but thankfully we got a street parking and paid with the Park Mobile app after circling for 10 minutes. We waited in line for about 45 minutes to order, and by the time we got to the front, all of the special drinks and bakery items were gone. The only thing I was able to secure was a slice of baklava. *whew* I didn't feel like coffee that day, so I went for a lime refresher, which worked really well with the baklava. My friend ordered a coffee with cinnamon. While we were waiting in line, we were entertained by the jewelry and their merch items, but we didn't get any. I would like to go back soon when it's not as packed, and when all of the menu items are available. Seems not fair to give it a 5-star when I couldn't experience its full potential. read more

This coffee shop is new and owned by a brother-sister duo, who showcase their Palestinian and Syrian heritage throughout the shop. The flavors of the different drinks reflect their heritage as well as the gorgeous interior. They also have many pastries which are sourced through local businesses as well. As for our drinks, the matchas are definitely their best drinks! The lattes are good but if you are someone who likes their coffee sweet, I would recommend adding an extra pump of syrup. They also have classic syrup available at the counter where the lids and napkins are. The zaatar bagel was a 10/10 and you can get it with labneh or cream cheese. I enjoyed it both ways! Their baklava is to die for and I can't wait to try more items. The lack of parking is the only challenge with coming here. The coffee shop is located directly next to the ASU Tempe campus and so there's limited street parking and one paid lot around the corner. Other than that, I would highly recommend. read more

Such a nice and cozy spot. We were a party of 6 when we walked in Saturday night and the line wasn't long. Right after though, a bunch of people walked in. The cashier was friendly. I ordered the upside down strawberry matcha and my total with tip was $12. We sat down at one of the booths and hung out for a bit. My friends all enjoyed their drinks. We ordered 4 matcha's, two refreshers, and a GF banana bread. We had a great time, will be back! *Nearby parking was hard to find read more

I love this coffee shop! If you're looking to support a Palestinian owned coffee shop this is the one! The staff was friendly and amazing and they serve the best matcha and avocado toast, mine had pomegranates and it was such an interesting taste but so delicious. The service was fast and we didn't wait long. They also sell cute handbags, clips and other cute things. The coffee shop is decorated with hanging rugs and mirrors and makes for a beautiful aesthetic and so cozy. I will definitely be coming back. read more
I'm glad I got to try this spot. After all the hype the line wasn't even bad. The service was so friendly and dedicated me on the menu. I ordered a golden matcha. It's very sweet so if that's something you like then it's worth a try. I also tried the rose coffee which was good. The lemonade is yummy too! Lots of seating inside and out as well as all gender bathrooms. The place is decorated so cute with jewelry and other accessories sold. Worth a visit especially for a picturesque spot. read more

Hands my favorite cafe! From the coffee beverages to the vibe! I was visiting the area for work, fortunate to find this place and ended up visiting it everyday I was there. First off...love supporting a Palestine-owned business! During Ramadan they're open 24/7, which is beautiful and intentional. The space itself is gorgeous...very aesthetic, clean and inviting. Now let's get into the food! * Cookie Butter Matcha (iced) - DELICIOUS. Creamy, flavorful and perfectly balanced. I would absolutely order this again. * Pistachio Caramel Cookie (warmed) - So good. Soft, rich and worth it. * Salted Caramel Date Latte (iced) - It was okay. Not bad, just nothing memorable. * Baklava (warmed) - A little too sweet for my preference. Staff was friendly...shoutout to the cashier.Service was smooth. Parking was the only thing that threw me off. It's not an easy task to find really good places that sell quality/good tasting matcha. Laymoon Cafe shocked me as I thought with such a range in menu it would be alright. Glad to say I have a new matcha spot and will be recommending. read more

I was really excited to go to Laymoon Cafe. It's fun to try new places and the reviews seemed positive. It has been a while since I've been on the ASU campus and with Ice protests and so much in the news I wondered what the tone on campus would be like. There was a significant police presence, gathered protesters in areas on campus and security guards outside the cafe, but other than that it was quite chill with the bustling crowd at the caffe. People were seated at the outside tables, with some groups milling around outside, a line inside and most tables inside full. Being a new place, I expected a brisk crowd but they had a staff person taking orders in line and helping to direct people where to go and wait for their orders. I love that there are outside tables, and a significant number of tables inside along with a wall of banquets in alcoves along one side that looked so cozy. So often coffee places have limited number of tables and seating options. Laymoon Cafe is larger and inviting, the cute merchandise displayed in the line waiting area is cute and whimsical. I ordered my typical drink, hot chocolate with almond milk and dr used to indulge with a Baklava , we also ordered a a Dubai Chocolate Frap with espresso shot that was good. I liked my hot chocolate, it was creamy rich sweet but not too sweet and the baklava' was delicious and gooey with a crispy chewy texture, it was more of a baklava tart style rather than the typical multilayered version. Worth the hype! Waited in line for a bit on a Sunday afternoon but hanging out with a friend so it wasn't too bad. We ordered the tiramisu latte, baklava latte, the fig matcha, a piece of baklava, and a pistachio cookie. The drinks were well-made with incredible flavors and good coffee balance. The baklava was decent but the pistachio cookie was an easy 10/10. I preferred the tiramisu latte over the baklava latte and am not normally a matcha girl, but found the fig matcha to be delicious as well! The space inside does have a good amount of seating and we found that people were constantly coming and going, so even though it was full and there was a line, we didn't have trouble snagging seats at a smaller table. read more
First, I have to admit I am very biased about this cafe, as I've tried them at pop-ups before opening a brick and mortar! :) I stopped in on Friday morning to get some work done, and I was met with a 15 min wait inside (not a problem - it's totally worth it). Staff was very patient with each and every customer and took time to explain the menu to anyone who asked - including me! The staff also made every drink with care. I decided to hang out in the extended room near the back of the cafe. The multi-use spot was perfect for gatherings large or small with electric plugs everywhere. The ambiance is like you were transported out of Tempe to the Middle East! No detail was left out of the construction and decoration of Laymoon. I loved the artwork and how intentional it was for the space. The music playing in the background was also in Arabic if you're wondering! :) Overall, Laymoon's product/space is awesome, but their mission is what piqued my interest in the first place and keeps me coming back! *Note - this spot is right by the mosque in a busy part in the heart of ASU's campus, so come with intentions of parking in a garage or finding metered parking nearby. read more
1st Elite Review coming through!! Well, well, well!!!! What have we here?! Thanks to my coworker and the gram, we found this local business and had to check it out. Yesterday (1.17.2026) was their Grand Opening Day and our visit today was probably no different than the craziness yesterday. The line was deep, like out the door deep. If you have a buddy with you then it won't seem so daunting. We must have been in line for at least 20-25 minutes. When we finally got to the counter to order, they were out of a lot of menu items (see menu pics). They ran out of everything that was blacked out. We ordered 2 of the toasts, but since they ran out of bread, they offered to put them on bagels. Bread is bread, so aiiiiiight!! What we ordered: *LG. Golden Cloud Matcha $9 *LG. Upside Down Strawberry Matcha $9 *Labne & Honey Toast $12 *Strawberry Banana Toast $12 *Warbat (warmed) $8 We liked our drinks. I especially liked my Golden Cloud Matcha. It basically tastes like caramel with a creamy foam on top. Yum! The toasts were delicious, but I think they are a little overpriced for what they are. My friend wasn't sure about her drink at first, but once she mixed it, she was all in. I had high hopes for the Warbat. The cashier asked if I wanted it warmed. I said yes, but when I got it, it wasn't. I would have liked to try it warmed because I wanted the cheese in it to be melted. This warrants a 2nd visit for sure. It's baklava with cheese in it, so I must try it again!! The decor in here is amazing! The brother and sister owners really outdid themselves. It's like Alladin came to life, especially with the carpets adorned all over the ceilings. They offer merchandise for purchase, and there are free stickers, too. Aaaand... the thing that wowed me the most was... O M G!!! They have a bidet in the restrooms!!! Say whaaaaat?!?! LOL!!! I couldn't believe my eyes!!! It's the hose kind, so if you're not used to it, I would be careful if you're willing to try it. This is the most RON-WORTHY one I have seen to date!! Laymoon Cafe is the hip new spot to be in Tempe. Was I disappointed? A teeny bit.. but I also understand that they literally just opened, and running out of things happens (especially when you advertise and get a lot more people than you probably expect!). Shout out to Akram, who was super nice, and chatted with us a bit when he stopped by to collect our trash. Check it out when you have a chance. Laymoon is a gorgeous cafe that plays with color and texture throughout the space, from mauve tile backsplash and arched white stone to beautifully draped textile on the ceilings. The best part is the drinks are actually delicious and service is friendly! I went with the caramelized fig matcha and was happy with the quality and amount of matcha in the drink -- especially since the matcha was hand whisked to order. The fig flavor was prominent without overpowering the matcha or being too sweet. The cardamom rose latte was also subtly sweet and fragrant. Laymoon is actually quite large for a coffee shop, with nice little nooks for groups, so while there might be a line, it can definitely handle the traffic. They've also become more efficient than others may have experienced when they first opened -- we arrived around 11am on a Sunday and got our drinks within 20 minutes despite the line reaching the door. We also found free Sunday parking, so it was a great experience overall :) read more
Overall not bad for a cafe near Tempe ASU campus! Love how they are open super late and have a lot of seating. Their drinks are not bad especially their coffee. Their matcha improved since they first opened! Only complaint is that it is a bit on the pricey side. ( recommend tiramisu latte and golden cloud matcha) read more
A new Palestinian-Syrian gem in Downtown Tempe, right next to the Tempe Mosque, lovingly owned by siblings Noor and Akram. It's got coffee, tea and delicious Middle Eastern baked goods and savory options (toast, bagel, etc.) It also has jewelry, notecards and other nicely curated merch for sale. The decor is striking, with gorgeous details everywhere. If you're into aesthetics, you'll love it there. I had a hot mint tea and tried both the baklava and a pistachio-chocolate croissant. Be warned that Middle-Eastern pastries and drinks can be quite sweet (but they truly taste so good.) Music playing was a mix of Arabic music, international music and American tunes. The sound level was perfect - not too loud. Although it was very crowded when I went, it wasn't noisy. I think the rugs absorb some of the noise, which is nice. This is a very spacious shop, with plenty of seating for customers. It would be a nice place to work from. I sat in the back room and noted there were several power outlets available. They have beautiful alcoves in the main room - right now they are limited to parties of 3+, but I suspect once the crowds die down a bit, they may be accessible for all. Also, there is outdoor seating available. In my personal experience, Middle Eastern hospitality has always been generous and kind, and this place did not disappoint. Plenty of street parking outside (metered). The only few downsides - right now the lines are really long. I love seeing the community support, but if you're looking for a quick in-and-out, maybe wait until the opening phase is over. There is only one cashier, so in addition to the line being long, it wasn't moving very fast (didn't mind, I was not in a rush). Also, you get what you pay for - this is a gorgeous cafe with high-quality food, so depending on your budget you may or may not find it a bit spendy. For a standard mint tea (tea bag), a specialty croissant (which arguably was not small), a (generous) slice of baklava and a matcha latte of sorts (I don't remember exactly what my friend had), you're looking at over $30 without tip. Such a cute place to grab a bite and drink. I went with my friends and we sat at a little booth it was very vibey, and comfortable. There was a long line but it moved pretty fast, I ordered the Pom lime energy it was very refreshing and an amazing recommendation from the cashier. read more

I've seen a lot of excitement about this café online and from friends, so I decided to check it out with a friend of mine. Definitely worth the hype! Firstly, everybody was so kind, and although it was very busy, there was so much seating to choose from. It was practical if you want to do work or just meet with someone. The designs and decor are so thoughtfully crafted. The honeycomb bread was creamy and sweet, but not too sweet. The drinks were amazing too. A must try. read more

I got the tiramisu latte, very tasty. It is definitely more on the sweet side, so if you like dessert drinks, this is perfect. I'm more of a stronger coffee lover, so I'll have to try some other menu drinks to see how those are. We went Saturday morning and it was probably a solid 20-30min wait including the line to order and then to wait for it to come out (especially for tea and pastries). My coworkers got the vegan poptart and the chocolate pistachio croissant and they both said they were absolutely delicious, so those would be recommended as well. Service was nice though and it's really pretty inside, just a little busy. If you have the time to wait a little longer, it's a good spot to grab a bite and drink! read more
