Got a large drip coffee, which was very light and easy to drink. Also tried cardamom bun, which was good flavor, and light and airy. The line on a Sunday was fairly long and every seat inside was taken by people on laptops or chatting. A modern space that is fully open to see the pastries being made and the full coffee bar, I can see why this is a "hang out for a few hours" coffee shop stop for anyone living in the area. It did not look like there were free refills on the drip coffee since they offered large and small sizes, but it looked like their coffee has some award(s), so that makes sense. About a 15 minute drive from me, so won't be a frequent stop, but would recommend. Only knock is that they don't have to go sleeves so I had to double cup. read more

Moxie Coffee is probably the premier 3rd wave specialty coffee spot for the Phoenix area. It's clean, well-decorated, and full of some fancy equipment. It's got that white, concrete, and pothos design that reminds me of similar places back home. While deciding what to order, I started chatting with the barista, and she told me that I might like the Granja Paraiso pourover, so I went with that. It was a super nice drink with lots of nuanced stone-fruity notes as well as that grape skin kind of flavor. It was a really nice and sweet (aroma-wise) drink to have. Turns out, they use the xBloom for the most consistency in their pourovers. I don't mind that at all. I think it's the first time I've tried an xBloom, and it was pretty darn good. Forgot to take a picture of our drinks but the ceramics, and presentation of everything was very clean and intentional. The Rafah had a delicious light cream top, and a good balance of espresso and hojicha. The ham&cheese crossiant is a must try! The space was huge perfect for studying, catching up with friends. What a gem. Moxie Coffee completely won me over from the moment I walked in - the staff are genuinely some of the kindest I've encountered, and the whole place just has this beautiful, considered aesthetic that feels so intentional. The interior is stunning: warm, minimal, and full of personality. The shelf displaying their coffee bags and packaging is absolutely my vibe. I could honestly browse it all day. They source rare, small-batch beans and it shows. I picked up a red honey processed Ethiopian coffee with tasting notes of raspberry, clementine, hibiscus, and rose petal, and it delivered on every single one. Worth every penny, even if the beans are a splurge. My only regret is not grabbing more bags. On the food side - the tomato thyme danish is a must! Please, please ask them to heat it up. It's incredible either way, but warm? Another level entirely. The whole pastry case looks amazing and they're actively building out a dedicated bakery section, so I can only imagine this gets even better. Watch this space. After a few years, coffee shops around the Valley have raised their prices so much that Moxie is now one of the more reasonable options, at least when it comes to specialty coffee*. Bags of beans are still pretty small for how much they cost, but they've also won some awards semi-recently, so I understand. I subscribe to their monthly coffee program for over a year and have never been disappointed. The coffee here is literally award winning today we tried two drinks from their specialty or signature menu; the Musa and the Rafah. The musa had a macerated banana cold foam on top of their nitro cold brew. The rafah was honey foam on top of a pistachio butter espresso and whole milk. This visit, I decided on the Eavesdropper, a seasonal latte special with sweet potato, browns sugar, and spices. It was exceptional and exactly what I love about Moxie! No ingredient overpowers the other. You can clearly taste the espresso, sweet potato, and all else. The torched marshmallow was also crazy good. Be prepared for a line. That being said, our coffees were outstanding. My Lefty was perfectly balanced with just a touch of sweetness and the bright note of orange peel. The Nola was rich and almost chocolatey with the addition of chicory. The Cortado was rich and bold. This is where coffee connoisseurs should be visiting. Don't expect to get work done here it's much more a lively vibe than a cozy/productive one and they've got music fairly loud in here. Drinks can take a bit to get as they are very busy but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Cinnamon bun was just ok. It looks softer and more flaky than it tastes. Its flavor was fine but needed more cinnamon and/or sugar. Not nearly soft/flaky enough if they were going for a "refined" cinnamon bun Chai latte was average- ended up leaving half of it. It's very very heavy on the tea almost offputtingly. Cold brew was very mild and neutral. Doesn't have a bitter but sweet taste like mama's cold brew or bosa, but very smooth. Met a friend here who I haven't seen in a couple years as it was half way from where we both were staying. Fairly easily to find and parking in a garage which was easy. Came here on a Sunday morning fairly busy but great atmosphere. I was able to get a cold brew and banana bread which tasted good. Although this is a solid spot it's a lot pricier for my taste and this is a place id come to when I want to treat myself. I'm still loyal to my convenient Starbucks, Dutch, or Dunkin .
