    Baba Ganooj (eggplant) wrap

What a delightful find. A little bakery/restaurant/grocery shop in a quiet, historical corner of Norwich. The food is excellent. A lot of vegetarian and non-vegetarian middle-eastern selections. We had the hummus and baba ganooj wraps and a couple of pieces of backlava. Fresh, tasty and great. The shop is very small with no indoor dining, but they have a charming patio that overlooks the Yantic River where we could enjoy lunch. On top of the food and the ambiance, the owners are charming. A lovely couple that enjoy engaging their customers. This is definitely a place to visit. Enjoy.

Customers of mine have been telling me about this place. It is 100% a hidden gem. Finally got the chance to stop in with my husband. We got lunch for takeout. We both got sandwiches. A box of cookies. A fun selection of flavors. We also got a small container up housemaid tabbouleh. They were out of the orzo salad the ingredients sounded amazing. Next time. Couple of the sandwiches take some time because they have to took the ingredients and put the sandwich together. Not a big deal we enjoyed chatting with the owner his wife was in the back making our delicious sandwiches. It have a cute outdoor dining area. We will definitely be stopping back here. Sooner than later.

Lazizah's Bakery is a Norwich staple. Tucked away on Yantic road, right off of Rt 2 and near the Rt 2 on ramp is Lazizah bakery. They offer different types of sandwiches (you can order ahead if you're in a hurry) and they offer a number of breads and sweets and have a small store filled with specialty and import spices, olives, cheese and yogurts, condiments, sauces, and jams. When I stopped the other day, I had to get the falafel sandwich as well as all types of baklava. The baklava is rich, sweet and so flavorful! I can't wait to stop in and seeing the smiling staff faces!

Baklava. The chocolate one was out of this world!

Falafel=fantastic Bakalava=heavenly Location=adorable The location has a real authentic family owned vibe--there is nothing hip or fancy about this place. Just authentic flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine. Try it!

The two times I've been in, they've brought out samples of thier menu items to try. I've ordered various things on the menu: hummus, lebneh, falafel wraps, falafel platters, baked kibbe platters, the green bean side, etc. All have been amongst the best Lebanese food I've tried. I want to expand and try more things, like the chicken and beef kafta. If you have questions just ask. Certain platters come with different items. Some rice, some salad, etc. Thier pita is fresh and delicious, and comes in different sizes. They have a decent sized dining area for dine-in, and the take-out area is right as you walk in the side door. Here you will also find a grocery area with Lebanese essentials. The selection is sizable, and offers items you won't find in a regular grocery store. I stocked up on spices, and coffee. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. I will return every opportunity I get.

And I feel sorry for her, because whenever she asked us how everything was, we couldn't even answer her because the "Lebanese" food was so terrible. Don't put her out there and claim this is Lebanese food. How dare you do that to this young woman? She does not deserve that! I grew up eating Lebanese food, since my paternal grandparents were full Lebanese (therefore, of course so was my dad, and therefore I'm half Lebanese). This food tasted nothing like the food my Sittu (Lebanese for grandmother) or my aunts made... or even my mom, who learned to cook Lebanese food from my Sittu and from her sisters-in-law. The "Lebanese" food was very disappointing. Get a Lebanese chef and stop getting good reviews because of your French fries, for goodness sake! You're making Lebanese food look bad! STOP IT!

My favorite of the three was the falafel. The cheese sticks were cold so it wasn't as good if they were hot. My coworkers enjoyed their selections, though they mentioned it could use more flavor since it was a little bland. I will definitely give it another try in person experience as I know sometimes takeout can take away from the experience and ambience of the restaurant.

It's a middle eastern restaurant primarily serves shawarma and other middle eastern cuisines. It's located next to a college building. Parkings are street only. Once we parked on the street we walked over to the restaurant. Inside is spacious pretty clean and there are quite a bit of tables and chairs. We went up to the counter to place orders. I got mixed shawarma plate and baklava. I wanted to try their mango lassi but they were out. The shawarma plate came with choice of rice or mujadara which is a lentil mixed with other vegetables. I got rice with it and it comes with chicken and beef shawarma, rice, salad, pita bread, hummus, garlic sauce and baba ghanoush. The salad, rice, pita bread, and shawarma were ok. Shawarma may have been better if it was earlier during the day as they would be fresher. The stars of the show were the sauces. Hummus, baba ghanoush and garlic sauce were all excellent. Mixing the sauce elevated the shawarma to the next level. Baklava was delicious as well. Not too sweet and that nutty flavor comes out strong. Service was good and staffs were friendly. The dish came out within about 10 minutes or so Overall it's a pretty good shawarma spot. If i were to come back i would see if they would allow substitution with salad for more rice and sauces on top instead of side so that i can have more rice and meat. I've had better quality shawarma but sauces were excellent.
