Baba Ganooj (eggplant) wrap
Jon L.

What a delightful find. A little bakery/restaurant/grocery shop in a quiet, historical corner of Norwich. The food is excellent. A lot of vegetarian and non-vegetarian middle-eastern selections. We had the hummus and baba ganooj wraps and a couple of pieces of backlava. Fresh, tasty and great. The shop is very small with no indoor dining, but they have a charming patio that overlooks the Yantic River where we could enjoy lunch. On top of the food and the ambiance, the owners are charming. A lovely couple that enjoy engaging their customers. This is definitely a place to visit. Enjoy.

Dessert for after lunch

Customers of mine have been telling me about this place. It is 100% a hidden gem. Finally got the chance to stop in with my husband. We got lunch for takeout. We both got sandwiches. A box of cookies. A fun selection of flavors. We also got a small container up housemaid tabbouleh. They were out of the orzo salad the ingredients sounded amazing. Next time. Couple of the sandwiches take some time because they have to took the ingredients and put the sandwich together. Not a big deal we enjoyed chatting with the owner his wife was in the back making our delicious sandwiches. It have a cute outdoor dining area. We will definitely be stopping back here. Sooner than later.

Lazizah's Bakery is a Norwich staple. Tucked away on Yantic road, right off of Rt 2 and near the Rt 2 on ramp is Lazizah bakery. They offer different types of sandwiches (you can order ahead if you're in a hurry) and they offer a number of breads and sweets and have a small store filled with specialty and import spices, olives, cheese and yogurts, condiments, sauces, and jams. When I stopped the other day, I had to get the falafel sandwich as well as all types of baklava. The baklava is rich, sweet and so flavorful! I can't wait to stop in and seeing the smiling staff faces!

Baklava. The chocolate one was out of this world!

Falafel=fantastic Bakalava=heavenly Location=adorable The location has a real authentic family owned vibe--there is nothing hip or fancy about this place. Just authentic flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine. Try it!

The two times I've been in, they've brought out samples of thier menu items to try. I've ordered various things on the menu: hummus, lebneh, falafel wraps, falafel platters, baked kibbe platters, the green bean side, etc. All have been amongst the best Lebanese food I've tried. I want to expand and try more things, like the chicken and beef kafta. If you have questions just ask. Certain platters come with different items. Some rice, some salad, etc. Thier pita is fresh and delicious, and comes in different sizes. They have a decent sized dining area for dine-in, and the take-out area is right as you walk in the side door. Here you will also find a grocery area with Lebanese essentials. The selection is sizable, and offers items you won't find in a regular grocery store. I stocked up on spices, and coffee. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. I will return every opportunity I get.

He also cut off a piece of the lamb shawarma for me to taste and a mini baklava to try as I headed out. Such a small yet significant gesture. My favorite part of the meal had to be the little red chili they had on the side. All ingredients were fresh too so double points for that. My only negative had to be that the falafel's flavor was pretty distant but I'd definitely go back to try a different meal (most likely the lamb shawarma )

The dough from the cream filled tasted very great, like it absorbed too much fryer oil. Yet it was also dry. The flavor of the cream was not the best either. The donuts looked really good but I had a hankering for a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel and the one I had was delicious. The bagel wasn't as big as I'm used to in NYC but that was great because it was easy to eat and not overly doughy. The real star was the pistachio muffin. That was hands down the best muffin I've ever had. The inside was crowded with a group of older gentlemen holding court but we were able to get a table on the sidewalk to eat and watch the world go by. The ladies behind the counter couldn't have been friendlier. Just super service. It was really nice. Prices were reasonable as well. If you're in Norwich, you should definitely put this on your list.
