We came here during lunch on a weekday & we were the only ones there so it worked well for a lunch mtg & conversation. We were given hot tea right away which felt welcoming on a cold fall day. I ordered the photo-pleasing thali which comes with an assortment of items but the momos were the star of the show. The service was attentive throughout our meal. The food is vegan friendly too. I wanted to try more items so ended up getting the goat curry & noodles to-go. Noodles were slightly too salty but still ate it all. Goat curry was good. My coworker is from northern India & said this good tastes authentic & reminds her of home. High praise! As someone who aspires to cook Nepali & Tibetan dishes but hasn't invested the time yet to learn, I'm so glad this place exists! This place may seem slightly on the more expensive side, but everything is shareable & multiple meals so worth it! The curry sauce was plentiful and delicious, but the goat was tough and had many bones, ligaments, and tendons to chew around and door out. While some bones are coming in this dish, I've had goat curry at other restaurants and the meat was not tough.

Back then, Vietnam Star was the only viable Asian option in these parts. By these parts I mean around Maplewood Mall and Costco. Here's the thing, the primary clientele here are Anglos, not Asians. In fact, today for lunch I was only 1 of 2 Asians in the dining room. So my expectations are adjusted accordingly. It is not in Frogtown, even though that's technically not that far away. But when you're shopping in Maplewood, Frogtown might as well be in Wayzata. So when I'm around here, I know the food in the mall maybe more to my taste. However, sometimes I don't want to sit in a big mall full of people, watching my back, pay a lot of money for small portions, and be treated like crap on top of it.
