Lazy days south after enjoying the Key Largo location many times was the reason we came here but the atmosphere was sad and the whole restaurant smelled of cleaning disinfectant- the server did her best but the food was poor with my wife's coconut shrimp inedible! Turned out no connection and different owners which makes it appear they are using " south " to attract customers- Don't!! I will give them credit for taking the shrimp off the bill - but they need to brighten up the place and get a new chef! Finally and not to forget the Rum Runner was perfect read more

We finally made it back here. Not busy at all and we were seated right off. Outside at sunset. Our waitress was very cordial and friendly. We both had their French Onion soup for starters. Then ordered their large broiled Scallops for me and my wife ordered their Crab Dip. Service was very fast and the French Onion soup was delicious. My wife loved the Crab Dip and I also enjoyed the Lg. Scallops broiled to perfection. We will be back! read more

This is always a must for dinner when my love and I come down to our family house in Marathon. We have had many romantic and wonderful moments and conversations while enjoying an epic sunset, and we always bring family and friends here as well. The menu is quite extensive and diversified and portions are generous. Drinks are solid. Sitting outside is a MUST. It could use some updating but it definitely preserves the "old Keys" style. While our fresh catch red groupa was slightly overcooked, the flavor profile was wonderful. On the left, we had red groupa topped with crab cakes and bernaise sauce. Started off bad. Took 25 minutes for our waiter to ask for our drink ORDER. Then he disappeared for a while. Waited another 30 minutes to order our food which we had to flag someone else to get our waiter to come back. Then it took ONE HOUR for the food to come out. What was even more frustrating, was that everyone else around us (some of who who came in after us) was getting their food and leaving. Another thing, they didn't seem to care at all. We had a large party of 12 at Lazy Days South and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall. The bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good first impression and made us question the cleanliness of the restaurant in general. The food was a major letdown. Several dishes were overcooked, and the filet mignon was especially bad--tough, dry, and nowhere near what you'd expect for the price. Two people ordered the ribs and fried shrimp, yet somehow received completely different meals: one plate had small, frozen-style fried shrimp, while the other had fresh, colossal shrimp. That kind of inconsistency is unacceptable. By the end of the meal, half of our group didn't even eat their food because it was that poor. With so many issues--from cleanliness to food quality and consistency--it's hard to justify more than two stars. Very disappointing experience, especially for a large group read more

We aren't locals or regulars at Lazy Days South, since we vacation in Marathon between Christmas and New Years. But over the years, we've learned that Lazy Days South is one of the places we must patronize as much as possible. In a word, the food is outstanding. We recently dined in and our party consisted of 12 people who all have a variety of likes and dislikes. There was something on the menu for everyone and they all enjoyed their dinner. The order ranged from a fried chicken sandwich to a gourmet order of broiled fresh seafood - and everything in between! Thanks to the prompt and friendly service, the food comes out hot and delicious and the drinks are always full. I personally like going in the afternoon to sit at the bar and take advantage of happy hour. The bartenders are always pleasant and at the ready to provide an expertly mixed drink. There is a good selection of draft beers too. I would recommend Lazy Days South because of the variety of choices on the menu, the tastiness and freshness of the food, the quality service, and the whole "sit at the bar and watch football while snacking on reasonably priced bar food" experience. We brought our fresh snapper catch here after going out in the morning on a Two Conch's fishing charter and this was the place to go! They didn't mind that we brought in a lot of fish for 2 people, didn't charge us extra. We got half the fish blackened and half "lazy days" style. We weren't sure which we liked better, both were delicious and a great balance of non-breaded and breaded. So flavorful! Came with french fries. I ordered yellowtail snapper and they served me mangrove snapper. Yellowtail is a much higher cost. I notified the server, and as a Florida fisherman explained the difference between the 2 fish.....but nothing was done to correct the mistake. It's not a great idea to assume customers don't recognize passing off lower quality fish. read more

Ordered Fisherman's platter, all fried with dirty oil it was so obvious, the fries were tasteless, service unpleasant felt like we were bothering them when we requested mayo and tartar sauce! I would suggest they get a better chef! read more

We had dinner at Lazy Days South on New Years Day. The original Lazy Days in Islamorada, Fl was my father's favorite restaurant when he was alive so we were excited about this restaurant being close to our vacation home in Marathon, Fl. I am giving this restaurant 2 stars for the nice waitress that served us and the fact that it offers reservations. The food was overpriced and came out cold. My silverware was dirty and there were cats circling our table. We ordered the calamari, tuna tartare, and key west crab cake for appetizers. The crab cake was smothered in the key lime butter which looked liked slightly melted cheese because it was cold. The tuna tartare was not chopped up in to small pieces and the calamari was cold. For dinner we ordered the catch of the day - grouper with the key lime butter which also came out cold, jumbo shrimp and the belings salad. The shrimp was cold and the only thing edible was my salad. Very disappointed in this dining experience and the fact that we wasted close to $300 on food that was not prepared properly. I hope management reads this and realizes they need to make changes in order to restore the reputation of the Lazy Days restaurant. read more

Had my first Hogfish here. Light and flaky, served sauteed on a sandwich. Taste was great and I liked the fact that it was local (which was the point), but texture-wise I should have ordered more crunch. Another first - using my phone flashlight to light the way in the restroom during a power outage. Restaurant staff scurried during the outage to get computers up so it didn't become cash only spot. They did great. No inconvenience at all for us. We sat on the deck and had all the natural light we needed for lunch. We walked in behind a group of firefighters, a sure sign the food would be good. It was. Crunchy, fried Yellow Tail tuna sandwich, breaded and topped with key lime butter got the stamp of approval from my husband. Not sure what the draw to the restaurant is other than being on the water. Food was overpriced and just tasted off. The conch ceviche was probably the best thing. We had a shrimp scampi which came with more canned mushrooms than shrimp (not sure when scampi had mushrooms) the stuffed shrimp was just stuffed with breading. We stopped by for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food was very average and not something I would go out of my way for. However, it was fine for what it was. Restaurant definitely has the lay back feel.to it. View of the bay leading to the ocean with in and outdoor seating available. They take reservations and believe me make them if you're going in the weekend because within a blink of an eye it is completely packed. I'll be honest, the restaurant can definitely need just a tad bit of an upgrade. Just " lighter decor would help since it's kinda dark with all the dark wood tables, walls, and flooring. But who care really cause we came to eat. The menu has so many options and just when you thinknypu know what you want you see something else that looks just as tasty..resolve this by sharing..lol. We started with the conch fritters. OMG it is filled with conch instead of batter. We devoured this and the portion is perfect. They alsongive you complimentary bread and banana bread with butter. Try not.to overindulge be ause it can be filling but do try it all, it was so good and the banana bread tasted like dessert. Going round the table we had a Mediterranean fish like with capers and peppers..absolutely tasty, crab stuffed shrimp (more like crazy stuffed) and damn delicious and filling and I had the sauteed cracked. once with garlic sauce, it was amazing!! We wanted badly to have a dessert or have one of their ecletic pallatas but there was no space left for another bite. This is a fabulous restuarant with fabulous food. You must eat here!!!
