During a recent day trip to the Florida Keys, I was determined to find a restaurant with beautiful ocean views, and I'm so glad I discovered Lazy Days South! The only challenge was parking. The spaces were pretty tight, and several cars were parked over the lines, making it a little difficult to find a spot. Luckily, just as we arrived, someone was leaving, so it felt like it was meant to be. We walked in without a reservation and were seated almost immediately. The host gave us a warm welcome, and we were lucky enough to get a table outside with a stunning oceanfront view. The scenery alone made the visit worthwhile. Before arriving, I had looked over the menu and was happy to see they offered vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. I ordered the pasta with mushrooms, which was prepared with olive oil instead of a cream-based sauce. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. My niece ordered the Chicken Key West, which is similar to chicken Parmesan, and my sister had the house salad. Since pasta comes with a choice of soup or salad, I opted for the salad as well. One of the most memorable parts of the experience happened shortly after we sat down. The staff tossed leftover fish scraps into the water, attracting several large fish right below the restaurant. Watching them feed was such a unique and entertaining experience that added to the charm of dining by the water. Another little touch that I loved was when I went to the restroom. They had a locally made salt sugar scrub available for purchase, and it smelled so good that we ended up buying one to take home. I always appreciate when restaurants support local businesses. They also had complimentary key lime mints, which were absolutely delicious and such a fun Florida Keys touch. Our waiter was fantastic throughout the entire meal. He was attentive, friendly, and efficient. He kept our water glasses full, brought out bread promptly, checked on us regularly, and had the check ready as soon as we were finished. The food also arrived at a great pace. Unfortunately, I couldn't try any of their cocktails since I had to drive back to Miami afterward, but they looked delicious. Hopefully, on my next trip to the Keys, I'll be able to stay longer and enjoy one of their drinks. Overall, Lazy Days South has that classic old-Florida, laid-back atmosphere that feels welcoming and timeless. Between the beautiful ocean views, good food, unique waterfront experience, thoughtful local touches, and excellent service, it's definitely a place I'll be returning to on my next visit to the Keys. read more

Our server appeared to be handling three large parties of 8-10 people each, which likely contributed to the delays. However, the restaurant itself didn't seem particularly busy, with plenty of open tables throughout our visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes before our drink and food order was taken, and it took a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time we were seated until our food arrived. The food itself was mediocre and bland, especially after such a long wait. Inside, several tables remained unbussed, so we chose to sit outside. Unfortunately, the fan and light above our table weren't working, making the outdoor seating extremely hot and uncomfortable, even at 8 PM. I understand that busy nights happen, but the combination of the long wait, average food, maintenance issues, and overall lack of attention to the dining experience made this a disappointing visit. read more

Lazy days south after enjoying the Key Largo location many times was the reason we came here but the atmosphere was sad and the whole restaurant smelled of cleaning disinfectant- the server did her best but the food was poor with my wife's coconut shrimp inedible! Turned out no connection and different owners which makes it appear they are using " south " to attract customers- Don't!! This place has gone downhill. How do you get conch and it tastes just like chicken? We got a whole broccoli stalk as "vegetables" but they didnt bother to cut it into florets. They got rid of the Lazy Days clams. The bleu cheese dressing is not home made. Nor is the cocktail sauce. the cracked conch looks like it was fried in a school cafeteria. The key lime martini was supposed to come with a pie crust on the edge of the glass. On top of that the waiter didnt split the bill ($1000) and improperly charged us. We finally made it back here. Not busy at all and we were seated right off. Outside at sunset. Our waitress was very cordial and friendly. We both had their French Onion soup for starters. Then ordered their large broiled Scallops for me and my wife ordered their Crab Dip. Service was very fast and the French Onion soup was delicious. This is always a must for dinner when my love and I come down to our family house in Marathon. We have had many romantic and wonderful moments and conversations while enjoying an epic sunset, and we always bring family and friends here as well. The menu is quite extensive and diversified and portions are generous. Drinks are solid. Sitting outside is a MUST. It could use some updating but it definitely preserves the "old Keys" style. Started off bad. Took 25 minutes for our waiter to ask for our drink ORDER. Then he disappeared for a while. Waited another 30 minutes to order our food which we had to flag someone else to get our waiter to come back. Then it took ONE HOUR for the food to come out. What was even more frustrating, was that everyone else around us (some of who who came in after us) was getting their food and leaving. Another thing, they didn't seem to care at all. I was really disappointed with my experience at Lazy Days in Marathon. I ordered the Lazy Days chicken, and the portion was incredibly small, (half a chicken breast) which is ridiculous for $28.99, especially because I was here 2 weeks ago and received a huge portion size. When I brought it up, instead of trying to make it right, the manager came out and told me I was wrong and that it is the same chef and same kitchen. We aren't locals or regulars at Lazy Days South, since we vacation in Marathon between Christmas and New Years. But over the years, we've learned that Lazy Days South is one of the places we must patronize as much as possible. In a word, the food is outstanding. We recently dined in and our party consisted of 12 people who all have a variety of likes and dislikes. There was something on the menu for everyone and they all enjoyed their dinner. The order ranged from a fried chicken sandwich to a gourmet order of broiled fresh seafood - and everything in between! Thanks to the prompt and friendly service, the food comes out hot and delicious and the drinks are always full. I personally like going in the afternoon to sit at the bar and take advantage of happy hour. The bartenders are always pleasant and at the ready to provide an expertly mixed drink. There is a good selection of draft beers too. I would recommend Lazy Days South because of the variety of choices on the menu, the tastiness and freshness of the food, the quality service, and the whole "sit at the bar and watch football while snacking on reasonably priced bar food" experience. We had a large party of 12 at Lazy Days South and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall. The bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good first impression and made us question the cleanliness of the restaurant in general. The food was a major letdown. Several dishes were overcooked, and the filet mignon was especially bad--tough, dry, and nowhere near what you'd expect for the price. Two people ordered the ribs and fried shrimp, yet somehow received completely different meals: one plate had small, frozen-style fried shrimp, while the other had fresh, colossal shrimp. That kind of inconsistency is unacceptable. By the end of the meal, half of our group didn't even eat their food because it was that poor. We brought our fresh snapper catch here after going out in the morning on a Two Conch's fishing charter and this was the place to go! They didn't mind that we brought in a lot of fish for 2 people, didn't charge us extra. We got half the fish blackened and half "lazy days" style. I ordered yellowtail snapper and they served me mangrove snapper. Yellowtail is a much higher cost. I notified the server, and as a Florida fisherman explained the difference between the 2 fish.....but nothing was done to correct the mistake. Taste was great and I liked the fact that it was local (which was the point), but texture-wise I should have ordered more crunch. Another first - using my phone flashlight to light the way in the restroom during a power outage. Restaurant staff scurried during the outage to get computers up so it didn't become cash only spot. They did great. No inconvenience at all for us. We sat on the deck and had all the natural light we needed for lunch. We walked in behind a group of firefighters, a sure sign the food would be good.
