Our fresh catch with a blackened rub
    Robert E.

We brought our own fresh catch, and they cooked it to perfection with a blackened rub! Generous portions and very tasty sides. Great location on the water and friendly service. Would happily go back.

The Lazy Gator was delicious! Excellent maple old fashioned and planters punch. Yellow tail Gus was a huge portion and delicious. Such a great place to watch the sunset..

We brought in our early morning yellow tail catch and asked for it to be fried. They obliged and it was spectacular and very good. Such a nice way to spend the evening after a great day of fishing.

We finally made it back here. Not busy at all and we were seated right off. Outside at sunset. Our waitress was very cordial and friendly. We both had their French Onion soup for starters. Then ordered their large broiled Scallops for me and my wife ordered their Crab Dip. Service was very fast and the French Onion soup was delicious. My wife loved the Crab Dip and I also enjoyed the Lg. Scallops broiled to perfection. We will be back!

The perfect place to celebrate our love

This is always a must for dinner when my love and I come down to our family house in Marathon. We have had many romantic and wonderful moments and conversations while enjoying an epic sunset, and we always bring family and friends here as well. The menu is quite extensive and diversified and portions are generous. Drinks are solid. Sitting outside is a MUST. It could use some updating but it definitely preserves the "old Keys" style. Key Lime Pie is respectably solid. Service is always good.

This place had a great atmosphere being on the water. We managed to catch some fish on Crazy banana charters and bring it to the chef for him to cook. The service was very nice and blackened fish is amazing.

While our fresh catch red groupa was slightly overcooked, the flavor profile was wonderful. On the left, we had red groupa topped with crab cakes and bernaise sauce. The right, red groupa panko crusted and topped with tomatoes, scallions and jalapeños. The soups and salads are good. Service is okay, we had to find our server to order our first drink. It's not a fancy place and a little homey.

Lazy Days South is the jack-of-all-trades eating establishment. Do you want to sit inside and enjoy fresh seafood cooked to order? You can! Do you want to sit outside and enjoy casual dining with maybe a burger, some fries, or a wrap? You can! Would you prefer to sit at the bar and enjoy their Happy Hour menu? Guess what - you can! We aren't locals or regulars at Lazy Days South, since we vacation in Marathon between Christmas and New Years. But over the years, we've learned that Lazy Days South is one of the places we must patronize as much as possible. In a word, the food is outstanding. We recently dined in and our party consisted of 12 people who all have a variety of likes and dislikes. There was something on the menu for everyone and they all enjoyed their dinner. The order ranged from a fried chicken sandwich to a gourmet order of broiled fresh seafood - and everything in between! Thanks to the prompt and friendly service, the food comes out hot and delicious and the drinks are always full. I personally like going in the afternoon to sit at the bar and take advantage of happy hour. The bartenders are always pleasant and at the ready to provide an expertly mixed drink. There is a good selection of draft beers too. I would recommend Lazy Days South because of the variety of choices on the menu, the tastiness and freshness of the food, the quality service, and the whole "sit at the bar and watch football while snacking on reasonably priced bar food" experience. Thank you, Lazy Days South!

It wasn't the best meal we've ever had, but it was definitely the best food we had during our trip. Our favorites were the conch fritters, which were delicious, and the Angus cheeseburger, which was honestly the best thing we ordered. The mussels were also excellent and full of flavor. The shrimp ceviche was decent, but it could have used a little more seasoning, citrus, or zest. It felt a bit dry and didn't have the bright, fresh flavor I was expecting. The seafood platter was the biggest disappointment, especially considering the price. The mahi was under seasoned, and the texture wasn't enjoyable. The crab cakes had a fishy taste, and while the scallops were just okay, the shrimp was actually very good. The sweet potato side was delicious, but overall the platter didn't feel like a good value for what was served. Overall, despite a few misses, this was still the best dining experience we had in the Keys. The service was good, and there were enough standout dishes that we'd come back. I'd recommend sticking with the conch fritters, mussels, Angus cheeseburger, and shrimp.

Atmosphere: Laid back. 12 tables. Good service. We had a great waitress with a good sense of humor. After taking our order, she disappeared for less than 2 minutes and returned with our salads. She apologized for the long wait (hahaha). Menu: Extensive! Great selection of wine, pastas, meats, and seafood platters. All exceptionally fresh! The homemade blue cheese dressing was exceptional too! The linguine was the default, but they are happy to change out the pasta type upon request. Food for thought: If you have a party of 8+ call in advance by a couple of days. They really only accommodate a party this large one table at a time. The restaurant is small. After an amazing first meal, we tried to return. I called the same day (Friday afternoon), the lady was rather rude and told me "We only got one table, Hun, shoulda thought ahead." I asked about coming in and waiting and she provided another disrespectful response. We tried again on Saturday and the gentleman tried to accommodate us better (ie/ 2 tables). Unfortunately, the timing still didn't work out, so they lost our sale. Tried to get sympathy for working past 9pm (staying open just for the current customers). Note they are closed on Sundays and for most of August for a vacation. Worth the visit overall though! We will try again next time we're in town.

We got seated inside just as the sun was starting to set. Sadly all the guests that had finished eating right before us decided to walk over to the dock outside the restaurant which just so happened to be the exact viewing location for the sunset so we didn't get any really good photos of it bc there were so many people over there videoing it and taking photos. It was still nice scenery while we waited for our food though. I ordered ceviche to start us off as our appetizer and it was really good. My dinner was a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. The sauce was supposed to be a white cream sauce but it was really runny. Even adding extra Parmesan cheese to it didn't help thicken it. It tasted ok. Not my best pick.
