Large outdoor terrace completely shaded and large trees near by for a wonderful breeze! Service: our waitress was super friendly and very fast and accommodating. Prices seemed reasonable, but some items were light on volume. Crab cake app was really good. But the one that came with my dinner platter was very thin compared to the two that came with the appetizer. I upgraded to the grouper fillet in my large seafood platter entrée, it tasted good, but it was so small. I could've eaten it in one bite. Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. The owner was so nice and really made the experience enjoyable. You can buy fresh fish to take home or eat in there, which is great. My wife and I shared the Poseidon platter and it was the perfect size. Watching the chickens in the tree next door while we ate was such a fun little bonus. Absolutely must go! I think the hype of "on the water" spots over rides great food in this area and this was our fav meal of the week. This indoor/outdoor hybrid restaurant was delicious and really a great fine. Seafood was fresh, seasoned to PERFECTION and not overcooked or oily. Fried seafood is a light dusting with great flavor and doesn't taste like flour and oil at other spots. Service was outstanding and don't leave without a slice of chocolate cake or pie. Stopped here to dine in for some stone crabs (we saw the sign from the road), insanely fresh considering the price. Also got a pulled pork sandwich and shrimp tacos, both delicious. We were there right when it opened so not sure how busy it gets. We did see several locals and/or tourists drop in to ask about the catch of the day, the market seems a great spot to pick up seafood. We had 6 people in our party for breakfast. We all ordered and 2 people got their food before everyone else,then others were served after the others were done..after being told there was no more potatoes or rye bread only grits. (The potatoes were served and also the rye toast) For those of us that ordered the grits, they were served cold, and had to be warmed up. All said and done it took 2 and a half hours for breakfast. We visited Brutus on a cool January evening and sat inside. The decor was updated and nice, with murals painted by a local artist in the bathrooms which my interior-designer wife loved. I had the fish of the day, which was cobia, and my wife had a chicken and artichoke salad. Her salad was very good and my cobia was good but it was a very thin filet and was a bit overcooked. The owner came to speak with us and he was such a wonderful guy I didn't have the heart to tell him my fish was overcooked (I guess he will know now ). I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I can't say anything nice about it. A table was sat after us and attended to before us, they ate and left 20 minutes before we even got our food. We came from the restaurant business so I get good and bad days but the lack of care the staff had for our service is just not caring. The food barely had any flavor and the service was just enough to keep a job.
