    Spicy tofu rice bowl
    Teresa W.

We have been visiting the Florida Keys from Northeast Florida for over 20 years and have our go to spots from Key Largo to Key West but always like trying new ones. This is not a typical spot I would have thought about as its exterior looks a little touristy and that's not our thing but based on the recommendations, we gave it a try for lunch and were not disappointed at all. I am a vegetarian but my hubby and Dad love meat and fresh seafood. They had a menu that accommodated us all. I had the tofu spicy rice bowl which was delicious and huge. I took more than half back to our rental house for others to try. My hubby had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and really enjoyed his burger but the fries were not good. It tasted as if the oil was old. My Dad had the blackened mahi sandwich which was a very generous portion and he loved it. He also had the sweet potato waffle fries and enjoyed those. I had several adult drinks and my Dad had a few beers. Our server Matice was very nice. My only complaint would be he brought my starter salad with my entree so that didn't work for me. All in all a very good lunch experience for us.

Great spot to escape the heat and enjoy fresh seafood. The atmosphere was fancier than we anticipated. Jorge, our waiter was welcoming, friendly, and patient - impressive given the size of our party. We did make a reservation in advance due to having a larger group. Our table was ready when we arrived. While snacking on the complimentary baguettes, we ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees from the happy hour and regular menus. They have numerous menu options sure to satisfy any group. Everyone in our party enjoyed what they ordered. We recommend this restaurant to others!

We come here often but recently the experience has gone down. I ordered my go-to order, the Caesar salad with chicken and then gave me the skinniest pieces of like half a breast of chicken. Very disappointed with that. Especially because you pay extra to add the chicken. The oysters Rockefeller were too heavy for my preference. My bf enjoyed the conch appetizer he ordered. My drink tasted like cough syrup I didn't end up drinking it. Very saddened this place is slipping. Hoping they get back on track.

What a great place. Took the wife and kids here after another restaurant was too busy and couldn't sit us for 2 hours. We ended up sitting at the bar to eat and had the best experience. The food was excellent. Everything we ordered was perfect. Our server/bartender named Debbie was a huge part of why we loved it so much. She was so kind and her service was top notch, and the rum old fashion she made me was perfect. We ordered the snapper with crab, Ceasar salad, bacon wrapped scallops, kids got sushi rolls, and we had some fried calamari. Everything was excellent. And of course, we discovered this place today leave the Keys tomorrow. We will be back.

Great roadside restaurant in the keys! We were busy all day and didn't find time for lunch until about 2pm. The parking lot at the steak and lobster house had several cars at this time, so we figured this was a good sign. Didn't try the cocktails, but did order 1/2 lb peel and eat shrimp from the happy hour menu, and they were delicious - 6 giant shrimp for a great happy hour price! We had the grilled brie; didn't care for the crackers and the berry compote was just okay, but the brie was lovely and the presentation was beautiful. Philly cheesesteak sandwich was loaded with steak and peppers, and the queso-style cheese was a nice variation from the "traditional" Philly. Blue crab burger was very tasty with a large crab cake and the sauce was really good. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, we did not have to wait for drink refills and she was helpful with menu questions. I generally don't eat at the same place twice while I'm on vacation, but may make an exception for the FL Keys Steak and Lobster house. Will definitely be recommending this place to all my traveling friends!

Came here for lunch on my way up back to Miami. I've been dying to come here and try one of their dishes since I saw it on social media, and boy did it not disappoint. First of all, our server was really kind and attentive. He brought us delicious fresh French bread with these super nice butter balls. I ordered the Wesley specialty sushi roll with the escargot Florentine as a starter. Everything was super yummy but the sushi roll was sooo large I'd definitely share with someone or not order an appetizer.

The place has a great happy hour menu! When entering the host was very nice- we had a party of 13.- our waiter was friendly and efficient- he couldn't keep up with the drinks and charged us for food we didn't get - I should have checked- he said they might have the item- they didn't but still charged I had the tuna and the crab balls- they were delicious. We didn't like the lobster bisque- it tasted like butter- not good- we ended up leaving it almost full ( 5 of us tried it) The bread on the table was warm and tasty. They had gluten free options (including bread) The bathroom was clean and neat.

If i could give this place 10 stars , I would ! I love it !!!! This place is a humble celebration of American food on the Keys. They have many of the usual choices across lunch and dinner menus that provide a bit of everything for everyone, ranging from the usual burgers, seafood, and fritters, to even lasagna or sushi. The generous portions will leave you satisfied, with plenty to save for later. This was true of pretty much everything my party ordered. The service was also generous and patient while we browsed through the menu. Don't let the colorful outside of the building fool you. In a time of rising food prices and shortening portions, this place is a refuge that leaves you satisfied - guaranteed.

Fantastic old school dining on Marathon Key ... we love it so much we ate there twice during a recent swing through the Keys... staff awesome... Brennan was our waitress... amazing! White table clothes, wide variety of dishes, great steaks, awesome seafood... average sushi, avoid that! Check out the specials menu, many gems there! Wine list was average as well, but the craft cocktails were awesome! A delightful place to dine... always busy, get a reservation! Highly recommend!

    David S.

Best happy hour we found in Marathon! They run it from 11 to 6 and the deals are awesome. The buffalo shrimp was incredible and the portion was huge for only seven bucks. I also tried the tuna tataki and it was the best thing there. The chicken wings are massive too, so you definitely get your money's worth. The staff was just okay, but the food more than made up for it. Highly recommend stopping in for happy hour. At lunch it is not the fanciest place but at dinner it transitions to much more upscale. The bar was always full at lunch and dinner so make sure to get there early if you want that.

Atmosphere: Laid back. 12 tables. Good service. We had a great waitress with a good sense of humor. After taking our order, she disappeared for less than 2 minutes and returned with our salads. She apologized for the long wait (hahaha). Menu: Extensive! Great selection of wine, pastas, meats, and seafood platters. All exceptionally fresh! The homemade blue cheese dressing was exceptional too! The linguine was the default, but they are happy to change out the pasta type upon request. Food for thought: If you have a party of 8+ call in advance by a couple of days. They really only accommodate a party this large one table at a time. The restaurant is small. After an amazing first meal, we tried to return. I called the same day (Friday afternoon), the lady was rather rude and told me "We only got one table, Hun, shoulda thought ahead." I asked about coming in and waiting and she provided another disrespectful response. We tried again on Saturday and the gentleman tried to accommodate us better (ie/ 2 tables). Unfortunately, the timing still didn't work out, so they lost our sale. Tried to get sympathy for working past 9pm (staying open just for the current customers). Note they are closed on Sundays and for most of August for a vacation. Worth the visit overall though! We will try again next time we're in town.

Baked Brie Provencale was tasty but a joke at $26. My wife loved her Chicken Parmesan. My son and I had Cowboy Ribeyes and while tasty, they were way too thin, maybe 3/4 inch and because of that, cooked more to medium than the requested medium rare. For $88 I'd have preferred a thicker steak with a smaller footprint. His wife's risotto with fresh catch of yellowtail snapper was very good. Lighting was weird and we were seating at the back in the service galley, which sucked. Our waiter, whose name escapes me, didn't seem to care about much of anything, For almost $600 for four people in the keys, I'd expect more.

It's legitimately one of the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the Florida Keys, which gives it a lot of built-in credibility before you even sit down. Walking up to it, you feel that history. The exterior, the gravel lot, the signage--it's pure roadside Keys. Inside, it leans into that "local bar meets tourist stop" vibe: long wooden bar, TVs, stickers everywhere, taps lined up. Then you open the menu and it pivots in every direction--New England chowder house, BBQ joint, burger shack, seafood spot. It's not clear what it wants to be, and that lack of focus carries straight through to the food. We started with both chowders. The clam chowder looks right at first glance, but the texture tells you everything--thick, almost gluey, clearly roux-heavy. The flavor leans aggressively fatty, closer to margarine than butter, with very little clam presence. No briny backbone, no pepper, no lift. We ended up dumping in black pepper and hot sauce just to make it remotely acceptable--but even then, that heavy fat note kept pushing through. Nothing about it reads as New England. The conch chowder fares a bit better. You can actually see a decent amount of conch, and there's a peppery edge that helps. But the broth is thin and lacks the chunky, stewed tomato depth you expect from a proper Keys-style conch chowder. After having it done right earlier at Key Largo Fisheries, the difference was obvious. Then there are the Texas Twinkies--and the photo really says it all. On paper, this should work: jalapeños wrapped in bacon, stuffed with brisket, pulled pork, cheeses, and sauce. In execution, it's just too much. Too much cream cheese, too many competing sauces, meats chopped into a soft, indistinct filling. It collapses into a heavy, muddy bite that feels more overwhelming than satisfying. Looking back at the menu, the simpler move--burger, ribs, even wings--probably would have been the right call. Instead, we ordered straight into the identity crisis. And that theory held up. We went back and grabbed a burger later--cooked a proper medium rare, with well-done, crispy fries--and it was easily the best thing we had from them. I wanted to like Herbie's. There's history, personality, and clearly a loyal following. But between the confused concept and uneven execution, the move here is simple: stick to the basics.

We got seated inside just as the sun was starting to set. Sadly all the guests that had finished eating right before us decided to walk over to the dock outside the restaurant which just so happened to be the exact viewing location for the sunset so we didn't get any really good photos of it bc there were so many people over there videoing it and taking photos. It was still nice scenery while we waited for our food though. I ordered ceviche to start us off as our appetizer and it was really good. My dinner was a pasta dish with shrimp and scallops. The sauce was supposed to be a white cream sauce but it was really runny. Even adding extra Parmesan cheese to it didn't help thicken it. It tasted ok. Not my best pick. I had a choice of soup or salad with it. I chose their she crab soup and I'm glad I did. It was great. Almost reminded me of homemade chicken and dumplings soup just with crab. I really liked it.
