Father's Day @ 7:15 a.m. Seated right away....thankfully it was a little too early for the big Father's Day crowd. Our server was excellent. Our daughter is vegan, and she helped navigate her meal by making sure her breakfast (Market hash) was fully vegan ( no meat, no eggs, no butter on the bread)...all with a smile on her face, and a no problem attitude. I had the Fritatta Rustica; hubby had the traditional breakfast. My fritatta was overcooked, and as such very dry, but everything else was very good. We were on the waitlist, but once we arrived, we were seated right away, which was a great start. The environment was really cozy and welcoming. For drinks, we started with the Tangerine Dream, which reminded me of an orange creamsicle, and the Morning Meditation, which definitely had more earthy flavors. The brown sugar sweetness with a bit of spice worked well together. The Elevated Egg Sandwich was really good; the buns were soft, the avocado was well-seasoned, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were seasoned nicely, and the onions added extra flavor. The Smoked Salmon Frittata was okay--not my favorite. Our group probably looked like crazy people sitting in the parking lot at 6:53 am waiting for them to open but my mom and I had just been picked up from the airport and wanted breakfast haha Obviously, parking was easy and we were greeted and seated right away since we were the first customers of the day. I have tried different dishes from here and just this past Sunday, I tried the B.E.C. from their Spring menu. It was so good! The sandwich itself and the simple salad that it came with, were very fresh and delicious. Another favorite of mine from here is the smoked salmon frittata. Service is consistently attentive and efficient. The place is neat, the bathrooms are clean, and parking is easy. I got the traditional breakfast and substituted the toast for gluten-free toast and substituted the potatoes for grits and sausage links The sausage was fantastic. Ended up getting a second order. We also got the million dollar bacon that was really good as well. My kid got the French toast and farmers hash. They really enjoyed the French toast; fluffy, big and flavorful slices with warm syrup. Unfortunately the hash wasn't that great as according to my kid because some of the hash brown pieces were cooked a little bit too hard or overcooked--little bit burnt. Parking is free and plentiful in the parking lot in front and to the side of the entrance of restaurant at the end of a strip mall. Restaurant was clean and roomy it was pretty empty but still took a bit to be seated. Food was pretty good but eggs over medium were over cooked and eggs poached were very under cooked. Potatoes would have been better had the onions not been burned. Mimosas were served as a glass of orange juice and a little single serve bottle of Prosecco. I've been to this breakfast establishment several times, and it seems that something always happens to make the experience unpleasant. For example, the last time i came, my coffee carafe and cup were both drenched in Axe body lotion. So I had to ask for a replacement before they explained why that happened. Fortunately, this time was finally a good one. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Service was pleasant, but a little on the slower side, and my coffee was pleasantly unaltered. I can't remember the name on the menu, but it comes with 2 eggs, a waffle or pancake, and a meat item. I have always chosen the chicken sausage and absolutely love it. However, the egg portion seemed a bit less than 2 on this occasion. I will compliment the waffle, however. It was light with crispy edges, perfect for the butter and syrup. I also always get the million dollar bacon, as it just meets a certain craving. The flavor of salty and sweet was very good, but a little too drenched in syrup. Also, it seems that the bacon was a lot thinner this time around. Give this place a try and find your favorite items. The service at the table was fine, however they have severe issues with their app and "Join the Wait list" feature. When we joined the wait list, it stated our wait would be 20-30 minutes. We were not seated until 40 minutes later. When we went to the restaurant and checked in, other people FURTHER DOWN the list were being texted about their tables. E.g. they were not following the order as shown on the host ipad. The staff at the host stand knew they did us dirty because after we were seated, our name was Removed from the list with a text message stated we "had not shown up so our name was removed from the list". They were just removing a record of our name being up the list to cover up their UNFAIR SEATING PRACTICES and NOT FOLLOWING THE ORDER, NOT FOLLOWING THE ESTIMATED TIME WE WERE STATED ON THE APP. Additionally, they seat one person at a table when the others in a party have not arrived and this inhibits their ability to move tables at this restaurant. I probably wouldn't come again on a weekend, it's too chaotic and the App "add your name to the wait list" feature doesn't work or do any good. It's too bad though that the host stand offers a frustrating experience, because they have good servers otherwise. read more

They do not take reservations, so we ended up waiting about 35 minutes for our table. Once we were seated, our waitress immediately offered us water and something else to drink. My friend ordered the Morning Meditation Fresh Juice (orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar, and beet. She said this was her favorite of the three juices they offer, and that all the juices are refreshing. I ordered a black coffee (free refills). For my entree, I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata (consisted of Alaskan Smoked Sockeye Salmon, roasted shallots and tomatoes, topped with parmesan and chive cream drizzle). The frittata was served alongside ciabatta toast and a fresh greens salad. I did not know what to expect when I placed my order. I just knew I wanted something on the savory side that would keep me full. I do not regret my order at all - it was absolutely delicious. The frittata itself was light and complimented the texture and flavor of the smoked salmon. The chive cream cheese drizzle was *chef's kiss*. The frittata paired well with the crusty ciabatta. This is the first time I have visited the first watch in Oak Brook. However, I have previously been to the first watch in Kildeer. Luckily, we got here at 8 o'clock and there was no line and they were able to see a table of eight. The hostess was very friendly and quick to move. Our waitress Chloe was awesome too, and super patient with us, especially since most of us in the party had never been there before and took a little bit longer to decide All the food was super tasty generous sized portion, as usual, and made fresh on the spot. Only complaint was at the food came out at different times to dishes for some people to dishes for another group of people. So some had to wait. I would definitely come back here again. It is in a great location and ample parking as well. In this particular strip mall, so no complaints. First watch is super consistent and that is the best part. This has been on my list to go for breakfast. Upon walking in it took a moment for the hostess to seat us. No biggie since she was seating others, and it was only her. We sat and waited a bit for anyone to offer a beverage. Turns out there was a mix up with the seating. But a kind young woman, Chloe, apologized for the mix up, and she took care of our orders. She said it was pretty good. I ordered biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs. I was hesitant on this meal with it being turkey sausage but wanted to try something other than my usual. Best decision ever! The biscuits were buttery and soft, with a nice baked crust that held up really well to the delicious gravy. Tons of flavor in the gravy and sauage. My eggs were cooked perfectly too. I couldn't say no to cheesy grits, and it came with lots of cheese! Bacon was a must with our orders, and it was cooked to perfection. With a side of fresh squeezed oj too. This establishment is located next to Nordstrom Rack with ample parking. We came here about 8:30am on a weekday. Not busy at all. But I'm sure on the weekends it is packed. Chloe was friendly, attentive, and we had a great conversation with her since she had just moved to the area. Definitely will be back another time! There's a First Watch in my town, but I finally got a chance to try it in Oak Brook. It was very crowded with a long wait. Once we sat down, though the service was excellent. Jordan answered all of our questions and came multiple times to make sure we were good. We split the seasonal strawberries tees leches French toast and it was delicious! Definitely get that if it's available. I ordered the Traditional breakfast with the million dollar bacon subbed in. It was good. The bacon was the best thing on the plate: sweet, salty and peppery. They overcooked my egg, but I just ate it. Even the jelly that went with the toast was tasty. My friends all ordered the Trifecta and seemed to all enjoy their meals.
