I've been here once; it is a fairly typical sub shop with fairly typical fare. The menu isn't huge, but this place has a few key things that make it better than some of the other places nearby. #1 - I got the greek salad. They have a caprese salad, which is what I really wanted but they had run out of mozzarella so this was my second choice. The greek salad was very fresh and topped with onions, carrots, tomatoes, feta, and olives. It was good with the balsamic dressing and the portion was large. I was full off of it for the rest of the day. #2 - Their sandwiches are made with Boars Head! The hubby got their pastrami sandwich, which he said was really good, and they do not skimp on the meat. The sandwich was pretty big, mostly due to the stacks of meat. Meat Eaters Rejoice! #3 - Their french fries smelled AMAZING driving home. They were the plain kind just the way I like em. I would have liked them better if they had more salt, but I prefer my fries on the salty side. I think they would please most people as is. They was yum. I haven't tried the pizza yet so I can't give a full analysis of the place. But we were very pleased with what we've got, and we learned they deliver! I like this place a lot. I come here at lunch when I have drill weekend with the military. They have plenty of parking and some outside seating. The inside can get crowded fast during lunch. Inside holds 4 tables, 2-4 person seating, and next to the entrance and bathroom. This is more like an order and go type of place. They have a pretty sweet menu. Everything is delicious and plenty of sweets to choose from, for those sweet tooths out there. The staff are very personable even though they are running around like crazy people. This is the most expensive place for miles, the foods ok for the most part but not worth the money, i just went their to get a liter of soda and paid 3.00$ for 1. With those prices this town should be in new york or vegas. I realize you need to make money but come on i can go to shaws and get it for .79 cents - 2.00 tops. Pretty good pizza I have been here a few times now. I think they are pretty good. What they're not is the best specialty pizza I've ever had. You won't find goat cheese and arugula on a whole-wheat crust. But you know, sometimes you just want a plain old pepperoni and sausage pizza. Anyway, the people seem really nice and the food has always been hot and fresh. I own a restaurant down the road in Littleton and many times I get tired of eating from our menu so I'll call in an order. The sandwiches were good as well. The food was okay, I went on my lunch break and asked for a slice of pepperoni & a slice of cheese. I was having a sweet craving so I also got a red velvet cookie and a water. I was a little confused when the cashier gave me the pizza in a box, and even more taken aback when my total for two slices of pizza, only one having a topping, water and small cookie was $17... but I was in such a rush to get back to work I didn't pay much attention. I opened the box of pizza to realize she had given me not 2 but 4 slices of pizza ... explains why I was rung up so high. The pizza was really good but it was incredibly flimsy. Recently I was in Lazy Marys for the first time and could not believe how management was speaking to their employees. The servers/workers were so personable and the food was average. Updating my review to one star after ordering here one last time last night (even though I knew better). I paid over $25 for a 10 piece jalapeno poppers which were cold, soggy and the breading falling off (we only ate 5 of them), 2 cokes and a grilled chicken Cesar salad which had nothing but white iceberg lettuce, croutons and dried...pre-cooked, small pieces of chicken....nothing else! 25 BUCKS! By far the worst place I have eaten since moving to the area. I wouldn't eat here again if it were free. Oh and the staff is still terrible. Recently moved to Ayer and due to the limited choices in town we have gotten pizza and subs here about three times now. My first impression (bought pizza) was that it was expensive and bland. Something about the sauce or the cheese...it was nothing special. Second impression....we got subs and they were ok but very light on ingredients for the money. The young girl (not the owner) who took the order and ran the cash register was a bit slow and ditzy and was laughing for no apparent reason when I approached the counter. It made me uneasy. Again...not satisifed after eating the food. Third impression...."why did we order from here again?". Although I was the first one in the store and the girl at the counter said hello and proceeded to help the guy who came in after me (who she apprently knew). A huge no no in my book. Not only that but she screwed up my order and they made the wrong sub. She offered to correct it a few times but I was in a rush and I didn't feel like waiting. To make matters worse... It seemed even more expensive than usual...probably because I bought a $3.00 bottle of Pepsi....ouch. I can only speak to their Philly cheese steak, and it was horrid. My stomach hurts after eating this garbage. It tasted (and looked like) something out of a high school cafeteria. The bread, steak, and cheese were extremely low quality, and it was thrown together into a slop of gruel in between two hot dog buns. They're very nice but the food is just ok. They are very expensive for such a small place. A 2 liter bottle of soda is 3 dollars. Thats around 80-100% markup. Their pizza is good but the sandwiches are not worth it.. due to the price. I know Ayer is small but to spend 14 dollars for a sandwich (not a sub), soda and I believe it was fries is too much. Went to Ayer MA for the first time ever today. We ended up getting hungry and pulled into Lazy Mary's thinking we would grab a bite to eat. From the outside the place looked pretty nice. We got inside and 2 of the employees were loudly arguing over the shifts they were assigned to work over the next week. They didn't even stop when we were standing there waiting to order. We ordered 2 wraps and the total was close to $18, which I thought was quite expensive for 2 sandwiches. I will say the sandwiches were not bad, but nothing I would recommend to anyone. So as we are sitting there eating our sandwiches inside at their tables I see one of the employees outside with a manual line spraying machine trying to mark out the parking spaces with spray paint. It was one of the most windiest days we've had in a while, which is not the best weather to be doing that kind of work. To make matters worst, she starts spray painting right next to my car! I immediately ran outside and told her she was going to get paint on my car and moved it. Then we watched this employee spray lines on the pavement for the rest of our meal and laughed out loud because she looked like a completely unqualified person to ever be doing maintenance work. Although their food is decent their customer service needs some major upgrades or I should say new owners and management. When a person leaves their wallet filled with money, credit cards and their license and the owner of the company is beyond rude and informs you that their cameras aren't even turned on. It's one thing to not know where it is or have not seen it but to be rude and tell you it's not their issue is another thing. We happened to stop here on our road trip, and everything looked really tasty. The lady at the counter was very nice, and everything was made to order. The pizza was good (it's not NY pizza but much better than I was expecting), I had a veggie wrap, but wasn't crazy abut the hummus, and my hubby had a buffalo chicken wrap which looked good also. The person running the counter today, on the phone never acknowledged me. Walked away several times, and atill never acknowledged me. I was going to get a salad but she never looked at me or in my direction. Other patrons looked flustered. Just was chewing gum like a cow which is very unappealing. I walked out. Great local spot. Prices are a little higher than I'm used to, but the food is worth it. The meatball sub is the best I've had anywhere, and I've had the famous Vincent's sub in Worcester. Small place to dine in, takeout is pretty quick if it's not too busy. The only things keeping this from five stars for me is the prices and the salads. The greens were a little less than green. While here on business, and then having to work from the hotel instead of the office due to the storm, I called around to find anyone who would deliver lunch since the hotel only servces breakfast and dinner. Lazy Mary's initially said no deliveries in this storm, when the nice lady on the phone found out I was a sick, pregnant cali woman here on work and nervous to drive in this storm, she made it happen. 3 stars is an insult this place is not only friendly but the food is always fresh and very good. The portions are more than enough. I've been there a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet a little pricey but worth the extra dollar. They have a large selection of special sodas and the pizza is pretty good. If I was still living in the area, this would be one of my go to pizza places. We love to get sandwiches from there. They have canolies that they pipe right in front of you. They serve great pizzas, which you can buy by the slice.
