I should have believed the other reviews, don't even bother! No access to swimming and outdated accommodations.

If however you are looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate away from the big city, there is no place better. Nestled in the hill country of Texas, Canyon Sunrise offers a place to get away from it all. The Mariposa cabin is secluded, comfortable and offers everything you need (and more) in a home away from home. Private pool, private jacuzzi, country setting, comfortable accommodations. I couldn't be more pleased with my stay here. The resident cat Bob is sweet and affectionate. The scenery and solitude while sitting on the deck is priceless. After this restful weekend I feel ready to tackle yet another stressful week of work. If I ever have the opportunity to come back to Wimberley Texas, this would definitely be my go-to place to stay.

Of course nearly $200 a night feels costly when you're making the reservation, but when you are looking at the stars from the private hot tub - or from the private pool - the pain on your thinning wallet will dissipate. Everything was very clean. The sheets, comforter and towels were very clean and well laid out. That said, there were a few tiny things that could be improved upon the inside of the cabin (like not putting clean towels next to the toilet), but I don't think this is the forum to note the majority of those issues. Most important for you, gentle reader, is that you'll enjoy a getaway from the big city in this cabin. You should note though: don't expect to get great access to Cypress Creek from this cabin. The beautiful creek that snakes its way thru Wimberley is not adjacent to these cabins. Also, the majority of the access points to Cypress Creek are on private property, so I wouldn't recommend going to Wimberley to spend time near/in the creek (unless you drop a ton of cash on a rental that specifically notes that it has creek access). This cabin is perfect for a couple that needs some special, private time! It's isolated. Quiet. Secluded. Romantic. Cosy/small. It has very good vibes!

***PARENTS OF THE BRIDE REVIEW***…read more You have seen our daughter's review, so we thought it was only fair that we provide information from our vantage point as well. My wife and I have been staying at the Square Inn for many years now and have always been impressed with the wonderful hospitality provided by Marci, Lloyd and their team. From the wonderful rooms to the fresh cooked breakfast's every morning it is more like visiting family than staying in a bed and breakfast. When they started construction on their Legacy Lounge our only daughter was already engaged and looking for a venue. We immediately recommended that she consider having her wedding here and once she had a chance to take a look she was sold as well. From the very beginning Marci was there to help with suggestions for the wedding and referrals to local businesses that could help us put together the wedding my daughter wanted. Given that our daughter informed us in November she wanted to be married in late April or early May I do not think we could have put this together without her. In the end we booked not only the Legacy Lounge but all 8 rooms of the Square Inn as well. I highly recommend this arrangement as there were enough rooms for the wedding party and increased the footprint of the event allowing for a truly unique experience. We would find out as time went on that the value received on our money was greater than what we believe we would have received at any of the other venues we looked at. Marci, Lloyd and their team were again on point on the day of the wedding providing the services of wedding coordinator, bar staff and entertainment coordinator. There was never a long line at the bar. When some guests wanted to watch the hockey playoffs Marci made that happen on an outside TV. Fire Pit? Here came Lloyd to make the fire come to life. It was almost as if it were if it was one of their own children was getting married that day. At the end of the evening when it was time to go, we moved the happy couple to the front of the Square Inn where they were able to say goodbye to all their guests and finally relax for the evening. As we had booked all the rooms, only the wedding party remained after the ceremony and reception and the bride and groom were able to spend a quiet night in the courtyard with their closest friends relaxing after what had been a couple of very busy and stressful days. This was the most unique wedding we have ever attended and we cannot think of anything that could have made it better. If you are looking for a somewhere to hold a special event, do yourselves a favor and give the Legacy Lounge / Square inn a look. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

She made making a reservation a snap (you have to call), and check in and out was seamless. Being right on the main square, it's convenient to EVERYTHING in Wimberley. We parked our car on Thursday, and didn't touch it again until we left on Saturday (we are big walkers, though. But seriously, this is as convenient as it gets.) The cottage has easy access to food, art, shops, and there is a trail that starts just about 2 doors down and will take you straight to Wimberley's famous Blue Hole swimming area (just about a mile walk down an easy trail.) The cottage is quaint, cute, and cozy. The AC works well (a huge plus in summer!). The bed is very comfortable. The kitchenette isn't going to be enough to cook up anything crazy, but you can bring home leftovers, store them, and heat them the next day. There is a little balcony that overlooks Cypress Creek that's just lovely, and a gazebo in the back area where you can sit and enjoy the fantastic live music that Ino'z pub serves up next door. I went for a dip in Cypress Creek, a creek where the water is so clear that you really have no idea just how deep it is until you realize that you can't touch the bottom. Perfect for a hot summer's day! Also, there was a little inflatable boat that we took up and down the creek a couple of times just for kicks. We really enjoyed our 2 night getaway from the hubbub of the city to sleepy little Wimberley, and are eternally grateful for a nice and quiet place to stay that was so convenient!

After looking at wedding venues all over the Austin area I quickly became discouraged and felt like I would never find something that would check all the boxes. That is until we found Messina Inn, a small family owned and operated venue tucked into the quaint town of Wimberly. From the moment you drive through the gates you are transported to an Italian countryside villa where you can spend the weekend relaxing with 32 of your closest friends and family. Each cottage and private room has a beautiful view of Cypress Creek, surrounded by trees, and the occasional deer visitor. All rooms have large private bathrooms, king sized beds, and a fireplace, which added an extra cozy touch when the temps dropped the day before our wedding. As guests arrive at your wedding they step onto a sprawling lawn with tall trees, rock wall features, and views of the creek. We felt like we were submerged in nature for 72 hours and even heard some friends calling it a fancy adult summer camp. The venue is so beautiful that when it came to decor, we found that minimal was best, as we only needed to enhance the beautiful property. After reviewing all of our photos I'm happy with our decision, there is truly not a bad photo from the whole place! We chose the all inclusive package which included full use of the venue from Friday through Sunday. This was a nice touch for our friends and family staying on-site as we did not have to worry about transportation throughout the weekend. This plan also includes having Cherri coordinate and select certain vendors for your wedding, included the florist, cake bakery, bartenders, DJ, and lighting. If you are planning a wedding you probably already know the amount of decisions you are having to make. So it was a nice touch not having to locate these extra vendors, and because they have a relationship with the venue I felt confident in their work. Whether you choose all inclusive or not, you will be required to use the in-house catering. Do not let this deter you!! Trust me!! The head chef, Jason, is a part of the family that runs Messina Inn and I have never tasted any food of his that I didn't love. Throughout your planning process you'll have the opportunity to attend 3 tastings where they prepare different selections from their menu for you to try. The options range from mouth watering pecan crusted chicken, to brisket tacos, and savory macaroni and cheese bites. Since this is a small business you can trust that there is a high level of care and attention to detail when it comes to the food being prepared for your wedding. We loved the food so much we even chose to add on their catering for our rehearsal dinner. Throughout our planning process and into the weekend of our wedding we were well taken care of by Messina Inn's staff. Cherri went above and beyond making sure that all vendors were on time and in place. She even brought breakfast to me on the morning of the wedding so that I didn't have to walk to the breakfast room in my robe and slippers and risk bumping into the groom. Throughout the reception she made sure the groom and I were taken care of with beverages. Cherri handled all the little fires that find a way to come up on wedding days, demanding family members, weather control, and last minute setup changes. Cherri wears a lot of hats when it comes to your wedding weekend and her hard work did not go unnoticed. Thanks to Messina Inn we were able to fully submerge ourselves into the wedding weekend experience with our closest loved ones. We had such a memorable weekend wedding and I'm grateful that Messina Inn is a place that we will be able to come back and stay for many years to come.

Cherri was wonderful and very helpful. The provided breakfast on weekends was a nice touch. It included a piece of quiche, a tiny cinnamon roll, some fresh fruit and a little pitcher of orange juice. Our room wasn't huge and didn't have a desk in it, so my husband worked "from home" at my daughter's house, which was less than two miles away, but if you need workspace, you'll need a larger room. Please note, there is no door to the bathroom. It's connected to the main room by a short hallway. We'd love it if they would install a door there, which wouldn't be that difficult or expensive to do.

A few hours later I got an email from her saying that she'd made a mistake and that the rooms she'd described were in fact not available; but that for an extra $50 I could rent a very nice suite that was indeed available. I wrote her back and said that I was disappointed and extremely concerned that she'd required me to give her all the above confidential information for nothing, and that I thought the most fair thing was that they just allow us to stay in the suite she was now saying they had available, but that we shouldn't be charged more. After a couple of days she wrote back to say that she'd talked with the owner and that the owner would not do that; so I could either pay the $50 more or they wouldn't help me. Now . . . you decide. What's the right name for this place? "Prow'd?" Me thinks not (as in Yelp's 1 star "Eeks, me thinks not"). How you treat people matters. I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!

This is just not the case with Kelley's. I stayed there this weekend for a wedding. The bride, groom, maid of honor, my husband, the wedding officiant and I rented a 2 bedroom cabin with a loft. The bride's parents - my in laws - rented a 1 bedroom/loft down the hill. We arrived at 4:30pm Friday and met my in-laws at their cabin. The cabin is really cute but it hadn't been cleaned since the last guest was there. Which lessened the cuteness factor. A lot. The bed had been slept in and the sheets were dirty so the first thing we had to do was strip the bedding and wash it. I guess we should look at the in unit washer dryer as a plus then? I am a very low maintenance person but that's just... ew. After that we made our way up to our cabin and were very happy with the size and full kitchen so we chalked the used sheets in the other cabin up to a simple oversight. No big deal. Then we went in the bathroom. The toilet was filthy and the bathroom smelled of raw sewage. I have a background in construction. I know that smell. Rotten rancid eggs. The water heater needs to be drained. It has a build up of bacteria in it which happens when the water heater hasn't been fired up and run in a while. It was not a faint smell. It was a reallllly obvious odor. Anyone who came to make that cabin ready for the guests arriving could smell it. The groom called the manager (there is a "manager's office" but no one was there, just FYI) but received no reply to the voicemail he left. So, I know how to fix this. The groom and I crawled around the outside of the house looking for an access door to a water heater. No dice. We found a couple of access panels in the loft area but they were padlocked. An hour later it was apparent that no one was going to come out and fix this. The only alternative: open every window and blast the hot water in order to drain the water heater. We basically gassed the house and had to sit outside - which actually was very nice due to the view - until the water went cold and had expelled most of the sulphuric stench. It lessened the stink but didn't really get rid of it. Luckily, we brought two cases of water and were able to wash our faces and brush our teeth that way, and that was it. None of us could take a shower. For two days. Let me repeat that: we - the bride, the groom, the bridal party, the officiant - could not shower the day before or day of the wedding. I mean, "technically" we could have but we would have smelled like rotten egg.The groom did jump in the hot tub, which was cold, to rinse off about an hour before the wedding. Soooo...there's that. The cabin is insulated so poorly on the interior that you can here everyone's conversations, coughing, eating chips, thinking too loudly, etc. through the floors and walls. Only adding to that is the billions of ancient mattress springs that sound like they are simultaneously screaming while exploding when you lie down or accidentally move while you sleep. I am not a light sleeper, but I got 2 hours of sleep both nights because those mattresses are bonkers. The sad part is, the views at the site are fantastic, the surroundings are gorgeous, and the kitchen and bathrooms have obviously been recently updated. The cabins aren't ancient. If the owner would invest in a maid service, maintenance technician, replace a few things (EXHIBIT: MATTRESS), and put some carpet or area rugs down in some rooms to absorb noise, the cabin would be really enjoyable. From the timeline and similar reviews I've seen here though, it doesn't appear that the owner gives any cares about the existing problems or cultivating repeat business.
