Also because they ran out of pieces of chicken, I subbed in a different another item. Didn't matter because it was super yummy! The lamb was my favorite as it was tender and packed with spices that complemented the lamb taste so well. Really all the meats were great. I know some others have commented on the portions and sure, there could have been more meat. But portion size wasn't the value I was going for. I was here to experience West African food (just off of the 355 exit in Lisle) and the experience made me want to come back. Service: For a takeout order, the service was impressive. The owner chatted with us and (after he packed up our food), so did the cook! It's a family business and it's clear from the passion. Ambiance: So we entered around sundown and the owner was showing some other customers a spot that they could pray and which way faced Mecca. While they later decided to go outside, it showed (a) how much the owner cares for the customers beyond their food and also (b) the authenticity of the community this restaurant represents. The food is from Côte d'Ivoire (aka the Ivory Coast) and there is a sign indicating that the food meets halal standards. I always love supporting small businesses especially when it comes to food! Been wanting to try Le Bon Bon Grill for a while now as I drive past it daily. I decided to order pickup today for dinner - The restaurant is well lit and has many signs that make it stand out on the street - nice white ambiance. I ordered a Marinated Tender Chicken Wrap Meal along with an order of Alloco and my food was ready in 15 minutes. Food was made to perfection with lots of flavor and it tasted very fresh. This place is pretty close to the post office in Lisle. Parking is ample. It wasn't busy when we came. The owners were very welcoming and pleasant when we walked in. There are about 5 tables. You order your food, then sit down and eat if dining in, and pay afterwards. We ordered the sampler (bon bon juice comes with it) and the plantains. The owner has to prepare the food for you, so please be patient. The food is worth the wait. I wished I had a gallon of that bon bon juice because it is that good. It's made of herbal hibiscus juice with pineapple and fresh mint. I should have asked for a refill before heading out. The sampler consists of 1 beef brochette, 1 chicken brochette, 1 lamb chop, 5 or 6 chicken wings, rice, and salad. The plantains were separated equally on our boards. All of the meat was tender and juicy but my favorite would be the lamb chop. I'll have to get that next time. Portions were very generous. The yellow sauce in the middle is spicy. The other two were mild but the red one had a tangy taste. Prices were fair because you're not going to get another West African restaurant in the general area. read more

Wow amazing service good food and spicy sauces. I had the grilled tilapia it was amazing fried to perfection churchy and yet soft and moist inside. The rice was so good it brought back memories of my moms Mexican rice just like that yum the beef kabob were ok not a fan of beef but the one I had was not hot all the way on the inside so that was a miss. This is their $12.99 beef kabob meal with vegan rice. This beef kabob is cooked to perfection and never had vegan anything before,but this vegan rice is really good. The beef just melts in you mouth. We enjoyed the sampling platter which included various meats with the vegan rice. It was perfect for two to sample everything and we had the fried plantains which were excellent with an Ivory Coast Flair. We were looking for a dinner solution on a random Monday night. Le Bon Bon came up in our search for halal restaurants. It turns out Le Bon Bon has halal grilled chicken and lamb chops, so I ordered a half grilled chicken with rice and lamb chops. These are currently the only halal items. I also ordered alloco (fried plantains). The gentleman saw my son and gave us a cup of bon bon juice and a slice of poundcake on the house, so it turned out to be a good value. The grilled chicken was excellent. There were two sauces included: one spicy, and one sweet. The lamb chops were thick, yet tender; another excellent dish. The rice was more al dente than I would have liked, as was the plantain, but both were decent. The juice was really interesting (some sort of fruity/berry drink with mint), and the poundcake was pretty good. Great meal overall. The parking lot is clean and in good shape, as it's a newer plaza, but small. There are only 4 tables inside, so not great for large groups. It's well-lit. Service was friendly. read more

Excellent!!! It was my first time here and my first time trying this cuisine. The owner was the only one there and let me tell you he was so nice. He gave my daughter a free tea to try which she enjoyed. I ordered lamb chops, plantains, and jollof rice. Took about 20 mins. The food was fresh and tasty, owner knowledgeable(I had questions on the differences between food from his country and other west African counties) and hospitable and the establishment was clean and welcoming. We've tried their chicken brochette, steak brochette, chicken wings, Alloco, fries, salad, rice, and Bon Bon Juice. Everything was fantastic! Our favorite was the chicken brochette--it was incredibly well-seasoned, flavorful, and the chicken was perfectly tender and juicy. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming. In fact, during my first order, they ran out of wings, but the owner went above and beyond by offering to substitute the wings with other menu items, giving me more value than what I had originally paid for. Although the entrees are priced around $20, which might be a bit higher than some expect, the quality of the food and the excellent service make it more than worth it. Probably the best beef Kabobs I have ever eaten. And the fried rice was delicate and perfectly cooked. This place was quite a surprise.

Disappointed. Wanted to support black local business but unfortunately disappointed & can't quite figure out who the 5 star reviewers are since it was bcuz of the reviews I visited. Chairs are not proportionate to table making it uncomfortable to sit regardless if your tall/short knees hit table or provoke you to have to lean down to eat prompting me to change to making my order to take out (bummer) attempted to pay cash but unfortunately little to no cash in register for change. Okay food verdict ~ ordered the chicken with plantains & salad. Ugh chicken was okay, salad seems wimpy not sure if sat too long drenched in dressing or just old lettuce. Plantains were semi sweet which was the only thing I enjoyed. Disappointed since a) I'm from the Caribbean so know the food. b) have family from Liberia so know African cuisine c) wanted to support black local business Hopefully improvements are made.
