I only had a starter but I was honestly expecting much more from this place after i'd heard so much about it. I had salmon and coleslaw which was perfectly serviceable but nothing special.

I've always loved Le Bon Crubeen and now there is a new chef, Sam Byrne; so delighted for them. I know the owner and the manager and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. The ambiance and decor also makes this restaurant a little gem on Talbot Street and a big kudos on their bathrooms! An added plus is it's right next door to my favorite pub in Dublin 'The Celt', the same owner of Le Bon Crubeen... pop in after your meal for some live Irish music after 9pm.

Sorry but I ate it before taking the photo.

Ok. I would have normally walked by this place because of its location. I may have stopped and looked at the awards and thought "maybe" and then walked on. I was a fool to have done this and I regret that I had not taken the chance to try the wonders of their menu. I had asparagus with salmon and hollandaise sauce. I don't go for fish that often but, amazing. So subtle and complex. The flavours were exquisitely balanced and so delicate. I truly enjoyed this dish and will have no problems in ordering it in future (after I have tried everything else on the starter menu). Unfortunately I are it all before I had the chance to take a photo. For mains I had duck. It was mind blowing, as it should have been. But the revelation was Andrea's mains of haddock. I was blown away by this and regretted not ordering this. But back to what I ordered. The duck was cooked to perfection. The skin was salty and exploded in my mouth. For desert I had sticky toffy pudding. Yum. I really like this place. The only problems were that the service was very slow and some orders at the end were mixed up. I don't know why but at one stage music was pumped in which was that loud it was painful. But. We did come during a bank holiday weekend (no work Monday!!). I would like to see it during a normal weekend.

Ok so firstly the cocktail offer expired a year ago. That kinda annoyed me and was the main reason we docked a star. Other than that there were very few issues with the restaurant itself. The waitress was a little inexperienced but very nice and attentive. We were left waiting at times for our plates to be cleared but as it was peak dining time we understood at the time. Food itself was tasty. I got the fried haloumi salad with pomegranate while my girlfriend got the fish cakes. Both of which were tasty. The mains of steak and the chicken dish were also nice and lastly the desert of bavarois and the chocolate Creme brûlée were also nice. But as you can see nothing really stood out. It was a fine meal but just that. Didn't really feel the urge to return as it was while tasty not incredibly adventurous or standout. When an older gentlemen in the table next to us tried to ask for a different variation maybe peas without butter or something to that degree he was shot down. Everything came as the menu said which made us think that dishes were mass prepared as the menu was limited while efficient this sucked the life out of the food and made it all feel very boring. Not a bad place for some group and not too dear but far from amazing.

Lovely restaurant. Had wonderful and attentive service. Ordered the watermelon proscuitto salad, duck, homemade rocher and strawberries with meringue. Drinks were great, salad was delicious (as well as beautiful), duck was tender and had a depth of flavor that was brightened by the pomegranate and fresh plum. The desserts were amazing but the homemade rocher was the star. Choose it if you are a fan of chocolate desserts. Great evening and lovely experience here!

I had the Fillet Of Irish Beef. I hardly ever order filet mignon but I'm glad I did. It may well be the best I've ever had. With Café de Paris butter, shallot pureé, pepper sauce, rocket (arugula), and a side of french fries. The flavor of the meat itself was incredible and the three sauces complemented it perfectly. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. French fries aren't normally something to get excited about but these were a gastronomic masterpiece; the insides soft and sweet, not starchy, the outsides browned and subtly crisp, and I don't know what they were fried in but these had so much flavor it must have been beef tallow or duck fat. I'd come here again just to have a platter of these amazing fries! The wife's Coq Au Vin Façon La Maison (chicken breast braised in red wine, smoked bacon, mushrooms, baby onions, roast carrot, pomme purée) was equally memorable. I've never considering ordering this, thinking it too simple or plain. Not this. The red wine sauce really elevated a simple braised chicken. And how do they make even a simple carrot taste so good? We each had a wine from the ample selection of by the glass offerings and shared a gingery dessert which we both enjoyed. The service was good and not rushed. Just don't be intimidated by the waiter, who announced when he brought the bill that tip was not included; it seems this could have been handled more subtly.

As you're walking by, an outdoor patio suddenly catches your eye. It's your lucky day. (Well, sort of. Your husband is still fighting the flu) Marcel's was exactly the restaurant/experience we were looking for while spending a few days in Dublin. The food, wine, dessert, service, and decor = amazing! Food: From the house bread to the dessert, their food exceeded my expectations. We started off the with the prosciutto and tuna tartar. The latter had apple bits, which resulted in a savory, yet refreshing flavor. The avocado cream was also done well. For the main dish, we both had the sirloin steak and it was perfectly done. My husband got it rare; I got it medium-rare. Fries were also just how I like them: not too crunchy and adequately salted. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee (my fav.) and it too exceeded my expectations. Drinks: Excellent wine list. Decor: Posh and elegant decor; dimly lit in a sophisticated way. The plates and silverware also caught my eye. A+. Service: Attentive, but not intrusive. Just right. Price: On the higher end, but well worth it for the points mentioned above. Don't think twice about coming here! ----- Bonus: As mentioned we spent NYE here. Afterwards we went to their bar (on your left after the patio) and it, too, was a great decision. The DJ was on point and chose lively songs to dance to (e.g., Michael Jackson, the Bee Gees). They also gave out glasses and headbands with 2018 as well as complimentary champagne to welcome in the new year. Memorable, fun, and highly recommended. I don't think I could have found a better place if I tried.

The place is dimly lit and has a slightly modern/plush vibe, there is a smoking balcony on the first floor and an outdoor seating area that partitions the front door from the street, on a summers eve, it is perfect. I had steak, as did a number of my dining companions; each with different preferences as to how it should be cooked (lots of "I like mine rare... but not too rare... sort of mediumish with a bit well done... but blue" (I really pity waiting staff and the crap they have to put up with))... every dish that came out was exactly as requested... it is no small achievement and huge testament to both the kitchen and the waiter who translated the requests. Would go back to Marcel's in a heartbeat.

We walked around the corner, I saw Pichet and immediately remembered it from my trip research. I was visiting Ireland with my mother who is not an adventurous eater, so I looked at the menu online - found a lovely pasta dish that she would enjoy and she agreed to go. Turned out to be a great decision and a very memorable meal in every way. Service was wonderful... attentive, charming, and funny. Wine was perfection. And the meal was outstanding. My mom had the Knockanore cheese agnolotti with girolles, baby courgette, lovage and hazelnut pesto, and I had harissa spiced local lamb shoulder with tomato cumin puree, smoked yoghurt, roasted gnocchi, courgette and basil. We also shared two desserts, an Île Flottante with creme anglaise, Irish strawberry, strawberry prosecco sorbet, and an almond and black sesame tuile as well as the tropical themed and highly recommended coconut parfait with rum roasted pineapple, passion fruit gel, and coconut sorbet. Perfection. We chatted with a lovely local lady next to us for a bit and then two delightful & vivacious young women who arrived shortly after. One from Italy and one from Mexico. This is part of why I love travel. I recommend making reservations or arrive on the early side if you want to try your luck without one. We were able to get a seat in the bar/lounge area early as a walk in. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. 10000/10000 would go again.
