Steak Poivre and the only fries we received for both orders

This restaurant was highly recommended, but our experience was extremely disappointing. We watched as two tables around us received great service after they ordered thousand dollar bottles of wine, but we were not even asked if we wanted to see the wine menu or get a drink. Once we asked for the wine menu ourselves, it took over 30 minutes for our wine order to be taken and while we were waiting, the waiter took away our wine menu without asking so he could give it to another table. We both ordered the famous steak and both were not cooked to our ordered temperature. The table next to us ordered the same and was asked multiple times if the steak temperature was correct and how their meal was, while we were never asked once, even when they picked up our plates that were still full of steak to clear them. The steak dish comes with fries and we were only given a single order of fries to share, while other tables around us were given individual fries with their steak order. Not only was the service embarrassing, but the food did not live up to the reviews. The bread did not arrive until our steak did and it was stale. The peppercorn sauce was overpowering in it's pepper flavor to a point where we couldn't taste the steak. We came at 9:45pm since that was the only reservation we were able to get weeks in advance with how popular this restaurant is. We got very dressed up, traveled all the way across Paris, and we so excited and this was the most disappointing part of our trip even with the current heat wave. The experience was so bad that we always planned to get dessert, but decided against it after being so angry about our meal.

Since we were spending four nights in Paris, my brother and I split dinner choices. Le Bon Georges was one of mine, with my choice mainly being driven by social media recommendations, online reviews, and pictures. That being said, I booked a table and we made plans to dine here our second night in the city. Like many eateries I observed while in Paris, Le Bon Georges has a super inviting exterior - situated on a corner with both indoor and outdoor seating. Speaking of indoor, the charm continues inside with a pretty spacious dining room separated into two main spaces. We were seated in the back room which was quite comfortable. The menu contains a variety of classic French dishes, though they specialize in steak and also have a few more creative dishes as well. The menu is written on portable chalkboards (in French only) that are strategically placed in the dining room. While this may seem atypical, it works as it serves as an engagement tool for the servers to go over the entire menu with you in detail. We started with wine - the sommelier was very helpful and made a great recommendation. For food, we shared two apps: the pâté en croûte and the leeks. The latter was paired with a tasty sauce and charred just enough while still maintaining their leeky integrity. The former was delicious - a large combination of flavors that worked well all packed into a buttery crust mmmm. For my main I got steak - but it wasn't a traditional steak as it was more of a tartare that was lightly charred on the exterior. This led to the texture on the inside being more like steak tartare with a more cooked exterior. It was quite good, and the compound butter that came with it really complemented the meat. The dish came with sides of frites and a salad which were both very good. We decided to finish with dessert, and ordered the chocolate mousse. This was outrageous in all the best ways - it was served in a shareable pot and topped with loads of chocolate shards. It had rich chocolate flavor and the shards added a welcome texture - it was one of the best mousses I've had. Service was awesome. Emmanuel was working the room - he was super attentive, had a magnetic personality, and really enhanced our meal. Overall, I had a great experience at Le Bon George - this was a culinary highlight of my trip to Paris and I would definitely consider dining here again when I'm back in the city.

Made a reservation a few weeks in advance but really no issue picking a time. Walked in and were greeted and seated in a cozy corner table immediately. Ordered drinks from the masssssive wine list - didn't love the first glass of wine and the brought over another that was perfect. Waiter was super helpful and reviewed their hand written menu off a chalk board, in English. Provided so much detail and even reviewed prices for what one of the steaks would be. Food was delish, fresh, and good quality. Get the chocolate mousse and thank me later.

The steak and frites were AMAZING. Some of the best steak we've ever had. We also ordered a wine and old fashioned and both were so good. When we arrived, they said they couldn't find my reservation (I did make one so not sure what happened and they had my information in their system)...but they were able to seat us at the bar. The ambiance as a whole was incredible. We will definitely come back next time we're in Paris!

We had such a great experience at Le Bon Georges. The wine list...whoa...more like an encyclopedia but the staff was there to help with selections and hit the mark. The food was also amazing and you must get the chocolate mousse. One was enough for the four of us plus we shared with a single diner LOL.

I have been fantasizing about a roast chicken in France since we booked our trip to Paris, and one of our first reservations was at Le Bon Georges. The restaurant is beautiful and the outdoor seating is the place to be. The service is wonderful - they bring a menu board to every table and a server reads through the whole menu with you. All classically French dishes that are not to be missed - oeufs mayonnaise, pate en croute, beef tartare, seasonal chanterelles. We ordered all of this, plus a 120€ roast chicken - a heritage breed from a free range farm outside of Paris. I don't want to call myself a chicken connoisseur.... But I've have my fair share of excellent roast chickens. This was a *very dissapointing* dry, unseasoned bird. Definitely overcooked. The saving grace was that, despite it all, it was a high quality bird. For 120€ chicken, it was a shame. All other parts of our meal were excellent.

Where to begin. From our initial greeting to the top off of Chartreuse VEP at the end it was all stellar. There was a somm and waiter duo and they were attentive and funny. I was initially unenthusiastic about the closeness of the tables but it turned out to be a highlight. We made friends with the groups around us and even shared their giant, delicious pot of chocolate mousse. We had the asparagus and then the morel starters and they were incredible. I had the filet au poivre which was everything I dreamed of. My husband had the sausage which he really enjoyed. The portion sizes are very generous so come hungry. Truly a highlight of our few days in Paris. Hope to visit again in the future.

What a treat! Had outdoor reservations but far too cold. We sat at the main bar and what a fun and great time. Service was superb! The steak tartar w/salad & fries was simple yet excellent. The yellow fish cooked perfectly. The mayonnaise eggs were outstanding.

Got a last-minute reservation here and had a blast. We hoped to just drink and order desserts, but were informed we did need to eat a whole meal. They gave us a beautiful outside table next to another group visiting from America. The menu changes every day based on ingredient freshness and availability, but our server walked us through the menu and made sure to check for allergies and answer questions. They also had a probably 8-inch tall book of wine options at all price points (I think the lowest I saw was 25 Euro, with more cheap options near 30 euro, and going up as high as several hundred). We are wine novices, so we asked for their opinion and gave a price point and they located us a bottle that was delish. The food was impeccable, with nice, fluffy, and chewy bread, great fries, and wonderful butter on top of the meat. The steak hache was wonderfully flavored. I would definitely recommend going if you have the time and can catch a reservation!

So good!! Felt very authentic Perusian. Their menu changes daily depending on seasonal and fresh ingredients. They do not have paper menus, just the chalkboard. Since it was all in French, our waiter (I really wish I got her name) was so incredibly friendly, energetic and informative in explaining the menu and the daily features. I ended up getting the duck plate and my mom got one of the fishes. They both were really amazing, especially the sauces on each. They will give you a jar of pickles upon request which is so cool and they were really good. You could tell they were homemade. Their bread is also really good. But OMG the chocolate mousse was to die for. It was a huge pot with fresh chocolate shavings on top. It is definitely to share which is nice. We sat outside on the terrace, which was beautiful and felt very French. Every table was full so a reservation ahead of time is a must. We got our hotel to call and they were able to get us a great reservation. Overal this place was excellent and we would come back.

If you wanna have one expensive meal while you're in Paris, that I think is actually worth it. This would be the place to go. I got the classic fruits and while it cost me an arm and a leg it's a once in a lifetime experienced that I don't regret. My waiter was extremely nice and explain explaining the menu, but Service was definitely a little bit rushed. The giant wine venue is not something you could realistically comb through yourself so we asked for a recommendation..

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.

I have to say, this place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a small French tapas place off on a side street that unless you were really searching, you would probably walk by it in favor of larger restaurants. I don't know if our waiter was also the owner or the sommelier, but either way, his English was limited. Luckily, my fiancee's sister speaks French so she was able to translate the menu (to an extent). As such, this was a tapas restaurant so everything was small plates and meant to be shared. I don't remember the exact name of everything we ordered, but I remember a Pad Thai, a beef dish, smoked salmon, octopus, and a fried dish (maybe calamari, but I don't remember). The food is excellent and packed with flavor. You'd be surprised how filling these little dishes can be.
