I could probably eat 4-5 in one sitting :) My favorites include glazed and mango Bismarck. Their new location / management maintains strong quality and excellent customer service. This is my second time here and it is as good as I remember. I ended up getting a chocolate donut and jelly. Both were very good. The chocolate had great tasteand was very fresh. There was a good amount of fresh chocolate on the donut as well. I was able to taste the jelly from the first bite into the donut. Some other places, well you know. Delicious donuts! We tried the cream cheese horn, mango Bismarck, and chocolate empanada. I also had a cold brew, which was great. The mango Bismarck was messy and awesome. I'm not a big mango fan typically but it was unusual enough that I wanted to try it out. Great yeast dough, very light. The chocolate empanada was our fave (I was allowed one bite ). The cream is stabilized in a gross way and tastes like the inside of a refrigerator, the filling tastes like a plastic container of pudding, and the crust is flavorless. The chocolate croissants looked unbelievable, so I got two of those. And there was one of the chocolate frosted full of whipped cream, and a chocolate eclair that was so good I might have cried. The French are brilliant with their decision to stuff chocolate inside a croissant. As I've said in many of my reviews, I moaned with pleasure the same way Kinsey Millhone in the Sue Grafton alphabet novels did when she dug into a QP with cheese. OK, I got the "Oh man, mmn, mmn, mmn" response. It was National Donut Day so I had to try them. My wife and I went there at 4:00 and their shelves were mostly bare, but they had donuts in the back and they were still baking. Customers were continuously shuffling in and out, leaving with bags and boxes of donuts. I had a maple glazed, a creme filled, and a mango delight (mango jelly donut). We also got a vegetable glazed (all their glazed are vegan) and a lemon delight. The texture of all were very nice. Fluffy, yet not greasy. Their donuts do not come with holes. For instance, the maple and the vegetable glazed are like a Boston Creme without the custard inside. It's a hole-less donut. So I guess that means you get a little extra bonus with their donuts. The creme filled was delightful. Real cream filling as far as I can tell. It didn't seem like plastic nor overly sweet. Just a nice whipped cream without being too airy, either. The mango delight was delightfully HEAVY. It is filled with tons of mango jelly. Same for the lemon delight. I have eaten half of the mango delight and it is still around 3 times heavier than a regular jelly donut! No. Exaggeration. When I first picked it up, I went, "Whoa! This thing is heavy!" As a result of not having a hole, perhaps, all of their donuts are priced at $0.99. A dozen, however, is a very reasonable $8.99 or something like that. I know the $8 is correct, just not sure how much in change, but I'm 99% sure about the $0.99. Verdict: As good as Queen Donuts and Donut King. A tad better than Young's. Definitely better (as is Queen & King) than Wheel. On to Alvernon Donuts! And I will have conquered the donut circuit! read more

I grew up in California in an area where good doughnuts were plentiful. Then I moved around the states and realized that's not a thing everywhere. If you didn't tell me, I never would've known it was vegan. The density and texture of the doughnuts are wonderful! Big and fluffy! Perfect! The apple fritter was my favorite! Only complaint is the icing gets a little melty/dissolved like if you go later in the day. I usually see that in mass produced doughnuts you get packaged from the grocery store. I really enjoy Le Cave's doughnuts. They taste fresh. I like how soft the bread is. I have had a couple different doughnuts from their store. I had a jelly-filled doughnut and a custard-filled doughnut. The jelly filled doughnut didn't taste overly sweet. The jelly was red and had a strawberry taste to it. The custard-filled doughnut was also really good. I didn't think it tasted synthetic at all. Some custard-filled doughnuts I've had from other places haven't tasted good to me due to being overly sweet or having a synthetic taste. I would rank Le Cave as the top 1 or 2 doughnut places for me to go to. I also liked how the doughnuts had the right ratio of jelly or custard to doughy exterior. I feel that some doughnuts don't have a good about of jelly or custard inside. It's too bad that there aren't any Le Cave's in the Phoenix area. I'm hoping to go back for more soon! I love Le Cave's. I first had these doughnuts 5 years ago, while working as a grad student at the VA. Our supervisors would occasionally bring them in to celebrate Fridays. I live on the complete opposite side of town, so unless I had some errand over there, I hardly got to enjoy these baked goods. During the COVID-19 crisis, I got an urge to get the food stuff. I made the 45 minute drive and ordered a half dozen. You've never had a doughnut as soft and flavorful as what Le Cave's has to offer. They have been making their baked goods the same way since the 1920s and their original way of making doughnuts actually adheres to vegan standards, so if you're vegan, even you can enjoy a Le Cave's doughnut. If I could leave zero stars I would.. and that's still being a little nice. We went in and asked for a cake just like the first picture but with whipped frosting. They said they could do it. This place came highly recommended by some friends of mine, who deemed it apropos to drive 20+ minutes to come here. I thought they were crazy at first. But it turns out that they were right.
